A/N: Heeeeey! I'm back! This part is soooo late... I went to play through the story again and it didn't go as fast as I wanted it to XD Anyhow, This one follows the storyline almost exactly, with a little bit of Morgan and humor thrown in. For the disclaimer, check a previous chapter. Those things are tedious to write! haha
Without any farther ado, Lost in Time part 21:
Lost in Time
Part XXI
*******************************Morgan's POV*****************************
Morgan glanced at his parents on the other side of the barrier, This is it…if they can kill him, this battle will finally be over. Until then, we'll have to keep fighting our hardest to make sure that victory is ours! He glanced at the others, "Alright! Let's give it our all! We've got this in the bag!" The others cheered and paired up with their respective partners. He looked over at Cynthia, his partner, "Alright…you, me, Lucina, and Inigo will take out the enemies on the left of this room. The others can more than manage this side."
She nodded and grinned at him, "You got it!"
After a few minutes, they had taken the enemy numbers down from thirty or so to seventeen. Morgan glanced back at his parents to see that Chrom was about to strike down Validar. Alright! This could end it. He got Lucina's attention and motioned toward them. Then he took a second glance, Something doesn't feel right…
********************Danie's POV**********************************************
Validar laughed, "Heh he, are you so eager to meet your end, little Prince? You WILL die here. Your future is already written."
Chrom glared at him, "I tell you again: I make my own future. And it's one you'll not live to see!" Chrom drew Falchion out of its sheath and took an offensive stance, "Anything can change!" Chrom dashed toward Validar and struck him with his sword in a critical stance, leaving him with one health.
"Time to tip the scales!" Danie called as she tossed a cast of Rexcalibur at him, finishing the job.
Validar chuckled as he dropped to his knees, "Heh heh...Even this...was meant to be..." As Chrom turned to face his wife, Validar conjured up one more cast, "DAMN YOU BOTH!" Danie shoved Chrom out of the way, taking the hit herself. When she came to, Chrom knelt down beside her and helped her up.
"You alright? That's the end of him. Thanks to you, we carried the day," As he looked away, Danie's vision pulsed red.
She winced slightly and squirmed, No! Not like this! Run Chrom!
"We can rest easy now. At long last..." Chrom glanced at her, "What's wrong? Hey, hang on—" Chrom gasped and staggered back, clutching the bolt of lightning that was sticking out of his chest. Danie's eyes widened as she caught a glimpse of the static on her hand before looking back at Chrom. He must've noticed her expression, because he shook his head, "This is not your—your fault...Promise me you'll escape from this place...please go!" And with that he collapsed in front of her. Danie stared dumbly at Chrom as she waited for the right moment to retaliate.
********************Lucina's POV**********************************************
Lucina stared on in shock with Morgan on her left, "N-no..." She fell to her knees as it started to sink in, "Father! No!" She had failed…her father was dead and the Grima was just moments from being revived. Had she brought the others with her…just so that they could watch their world be destroyed again? Knowing that they couldn't have done anything to stop it? Life was so cruel to them…
Validar laughed again, "With the five Gemstones in hand, my magic knows no bounds. Danie is powerless to resist me. Do you see now, Daughter? Human bonds are leaves in the wind. They offer you nothing."
Lucina shook her head, "This can't be happening. We were supposed to change this! Everything I—no, we— have done is...worthless."
A familiar voice cut through her sorrow, "The hell it was!"
Lucina blinked, "Huh? I know that voice…" She and Morgan glanced to her right where a certain big bald oaf stepped forward.
"Don't you put any stock in this destiny hogwash! Let the dead whine about their fate... As long as I draw breath, I choose to keep fighting! That's what life is all about!" Basilio scoffed.
"Khan Basilio! I-I thought...we all thought you were—" Lucina stared at him.
Basilio laughed, "Worm food, back in Valm? It almost went that way. But I scraped by, thanks to you."
Lucina sweatdropped, "I don't understand."
He glanced at her, "Once I took a couple hits from Walhart, I knew he was too strong for me. Normally pride would've had me dead before I'd even thought twice about it. But your warning gave me the courage to be a coward, hah ha! I played dead like a big, bald opossum! It wasn't hard. In truth I almost WAS dead. You saved my life, Lucina. Had you not said anything... I'd have stood my ground against that monster and died on the spot."
Lucina smiled, "Oh, Basilio!"
Validar growled, "This...does...not...MATTER! If you didn't die there, then you can die HERE!"
Basilio smirked, "Hah! You're no Walhart, snake eyes! Not as strong, or even as clever... For example: you STILL haven't realized that you've been tricked."
Validar's eyes widened, "What?!"
Basilio smiled in victory as he explained, "Danie predicted everything that would happen here. She saw it in a dream. Saw this very fight with you."
Validar tried to cut him off, "If you think—"
Basilio cut off his statement, "Guess what else was in the dream? The five Gemstones. When Flavia gave my stone to Chrom, Danie saw what fate had in store. She knew Chrom couldn't bring the real Gemstones here to Plegia. That would be like swinging a big, juicy steak right in front of destiny's choppers!"
Validar laughed, "Gya ha ha! A worthy bluff, Feroxi fool, but ridiculous all the same. I've had your merry little band watched since Carrion Isle. Your every move! So I know Danie hasn't touched the stones-she hasn't been near them!"
Basilio shook his head, amazed by how dense he was being, "You watched our party, yes-the members your men knew about; the live ones. But they weren't watching dead men, were they? ...They weren't watching me."
Validar grimaced, "I... No, that's not—"
"Heh, looks like it might be finally starting to sink in..."
Validar glared at the gemstones, "That is not possible! These have to be...they must be..."
Basilio scoffed, "Why? Because of...DESTINY? PAH ha ha! Danie had your destiny beat days ago, when she came up with this plan. The expression on your face...it makes all those long nights in hiding worth it. Hah!" He laughed again as Validar's face started to turn purple with rage.
"Damn you! Damn you all to the hells! None of this matters! Chrom is dead! Your fates are sealed!" Validar glared at them, and turned around to confirm that victory, "Grima will-...Eh?" Danie growled at him as she blasted him in the face with Thoron, "No…"
Lucina noticed Chrom stand up beside Danie, "Father! You're alive!"
Chrom nodded and gasped out his reply, "Danie...spared me...She weakened her magic...just before the strike..." Danie continued glaring defiantly at her 'father'.
"GRAAAAAAGH! Damn you all, and your stones! I won't need them to kill you!" Validar roared.
Chrom smiled, "Ready to end this, Danie?"
Danie nodded, "Let's do it. I'm ready to see what our true future has in store."
Chrom nodded in agreement, "We will. Now. Together."
Morgan hummed as the barrier that had separated their family shattered and the khans joined the attack force, "Things are going to get interesting from here on, sis."
Lucina grinned, "Yes it will!"
Flavia took a test swing with her sword, "Let's put this dastard down, for good this time!"
Lucina nodded to Inigo, "Let's go. He isn't going to kill himself."
He laughed, "Very well. Anything for you, Princess."
After hitting him with the flat of her Falchion for the 'Princess' comment the two fought their way over to him, hoping that Morgan could help them out. When they got there, Lucina overheard what he was saying to Morgan.
"Rrgh… F-fools… Destiny cannot…be unraveled…!"
Morgan gave him a snide comment back, but there was too much noise for her to hear. Whatever Morgan said though made Validar give him a terrified look before they exchanged blasts of magic. He glanced over his shoulder, "Your turn Lucina!"
Lucina nodded and she (and Inigo) moved in between the three of them, "Die, Validar!"
He sneered at her, "Impudent meddler! You have failed to change the future at every turn. What makes you think that this time will be different?!"
"Perhaps it won't…" Lucina glanced at Inigo who gave her one of his award-winning smiles, "But either way, it's no reason to spare your miserable life!" She brandished her sword and prepared to strike, "I challenge my fate!" She dashed forward and did a quick dolphin slash (SSB Term = Marth's up special) taking out all but one of his health points. Inigo sprinted forwards with his Killing Edge.
"This is your last dance!" He did a quick slash across Validar's chest and sprung back, efficiently finishing him.
"No...nngh! All wrong..." Validar groaned as he collapsed.
Lucina gave Inigo a poker face, "Was that really necessary?"
He sweatdropped and grinned, hoping that she would drop the matter.
Sooo, let me know how you liked it. Also, I have the next chapter ready for editing. For people who have played the game, you know that this is where the fun starts in writing the last part of this story. Oh, just for the fun of it, guess my pairings :D If you get them right (besides the main one here) I'll give you...(cue the drumroll) a virtual cookie :3
See ya in the next chapter!
