The adults returned two days later. To say that they were shocked to see Sebastian coexisting with them without there being any demons, murder, or other types of violence was an extreme understatement. Not to mention Jace's wings, or the fact that Jonathan Shadowhunter was now living in the Institute.

Jocelyn had been thrilled to see Luke, although Clary had been afraid that her mom would lock her in the Institute and never let her leave after learning that Clary had died. Scarier was that Jace seemed to agree with her. She had complained about it, but Jace had gotten mad.

"You were dead, Clary," he coldly explained. "You were gone. I thought you would understand why I don't want you to be in harm's way."

She had stopped complaining after that.

Of course, after telling everyone that she had died, Clary had to tell them how she survived. She had explained that after she died for the final time, she would be an archangel. There had also been some explanations about Jace's new wings and Jonathan's status as a former angel. The elder Lightwoods had been wary around her for a while.

All of that vanished, though, when she informed them that she would be unable to create new runes because of the bindings she had placed on her powers so as not to burn out her body.

"Why didn't you leave a loophole? You had one before." Maryse demanded to know.

"Because I was barely able to make the binding stick in the first place. Raziel was the one who created my original bindings, and before you ask, no I can't replicate his work. The Angel has had millions of years to hone his powers. I haven't even had one. If you have issues with my work, you can take it up with him."

Rather than summon Raziel, the Lightwoods had decided to drop the issue.

However, they weren't too happy when Alec announced his decision to move in with Magnus. His parents were more accepting of his relationship, but Clary got the impression that they weren't ready to let their eldest son go.

It was the issue of Sebastian, though, that prompted the most debate. The demon blood had been making him insane, so without it he was able to feel the full weight of his actions. He didn't talk much, but he had discovered that, when Clary had boosted his angel blood, she had given him some powers. He was able to heal most minor injuries, but he specialized in contagious diseases. They discovered this on a trip to the hospital that Jace had taken to hone his own ability to heal.

The Lightwoods wanted him to be locked up in the Silent City forever. Jocelyn wanted to keep him away from everyone because the Ultimate Evil had just possessed him. Jace and Clary didn't want anything to do with him. Jonathan believed that Sebastian should be left to do whatever he chose.

Sebastian seemed to agree with Jonathan, because three days after the adults came back he left, leaving no indication to where he was going except for a series of books describing diseases from Africa. They had alerted the Shadowhunters based in Africa that he might be headed in their direction, but done nothing more.

Maryse and Robert had been upset when they discovered that Isabelle had resumed her relationship with Simon, but Isabelle had brushed aside their concerns.

Life would never truly be normal, but normal was overrated anyways.

A/N: That's it. It's over. Well, there are three one-shots that are set in this verse that I will write, but this is the last chapter of Side Effects. I hope you enjoyed it! Thank you to all who reviewed, favorited, or followed this fic. I love you all. Until next time, The Freak.
