Although the stars lit the sky and the moon provided some light to the darkness that surrounded Camp Jaha, Clarke was alone sitting on a log in front of a fire thinking about the last few hours that had unfolded. Bellamy had been shot by Cage. It was a race against time to get him back to the camp. To her it felt like the longest ride home. As soon as they arrived to camp he went straight to the operating table. She stood outside waiting for the outcome. She hadn't cried at this stage she was still in shock at how fast it all unfolded. Now she sit next to a fire staring at her hands that had dried blood on them. There was an eerie silence around the camp when the others returned. Although they had wanted to celebrate in the bask of their victory they respected that Clarke wasn't ready. Clarke stood up to go and wash the blood off of her hands. Her hands were clean but she still felt empty, she walked to Bellamy's tent. She entered and saw him lying there; poor Octavia had stayed by his side as soon as she arrived to Camp Jaha. They hadn't had any sleep until Clarke saw her sleeping on a chair by his bedside. Clarke snuck inside and gently touched Octavia's shoulder. She suddenly awoke, dazed at first at where she was until she saw Clarke.
"Octavia."
Clarke wanted time alone with Bellamy. Octavia could sense that.
"You'll let me know if he anything changes?"
Clarke just nodded at her request. Octavia left the tent and Clarke sat on the edge of his bed with her back towards him and it was at that moment Clarke could feel all her emotions weigh in on her. She started to cry.
"I'm sorry."
If Bellamy had died she couldn't survive. She wasn't as strong as people thought her to be, especially Bellamy. Clarke had weak spots, and he was now one of them. She wiped away her tears, she was tired and exhausted so she lifted his arm and softly swivelled her way into Bellamy's chest and positioned his arm so he would cradle her. She felt peace as she lay beside him. She felt warm and safe. So she closed her eyes and slept in the arms of the man she loves.
"Clarke."
Abby was standing over them.
"I need to change his bandages; you should go and have something to eat."
Abby saw how much Bellamy meant to Clarke, though she couldn't understand why, she was glad her daughter had leg someone into her life that she could trust and love. After Jake was floated the only wish Abby had for her daughter was that someone would protect her, the way Jake had protected his family. Clarke left the tent and she felt more like herself. She saw that the Grounders were getting ready to leave camp. She walked over to Lexa to see what would happen to the Sky people now that the Mountain Men were no longer a threat to them.
"How is Bellamy?
Lexa wasn't that concerned about his welfare but she tried.
"He'll make it."
Clarke knew Lexa didn't want the details.
"Leaving already?"
Clarke went to change the subject.
"My people need to rebuild what was taken away from us. Mountain Men have caused so much grief to my people for the past ninety years. Without the help from your people we may have never defeated Mount Weather. Thank you. "
Lexa had never thanked anyone before, until now.
"I'm just glad that both of our people are safe. Even though we lost people along the way, we will always remember the fallen."
Although Clarke was never involved in the battle field, she knew the aftermath of going to war. Lexa mounted her horse.
"From now on Grounders and Sky people shall live in peace. Anyone who harms this treaty will be killed."
Lexa looked at Clarke, gave a slight smile and nod and retreated into the forest with her army and back to their camp. Clarke turned around to see her people relieved at the fact they would never be in danger by the Mountain Men again. She knew there was something deep in the forest that awaited them but she couldn't think about that now. As she stood watching her people, at the back of the crowd she could see Octavia leaving Bellamy's tent with a huge smile across her face. As Octavia held the tent opening Bellamy walked out. He was still weak but he was out of bed. Clarke didn't hesitate and ran for her life towards him. It was just like time she had greeted him when she first escaped Mount Weather and saw him since closing the dropship door. Clarke was just meters away from Bellamy.
"Hey."
Clarke could hear the weakness in his voice but he was trying not to let it show too much.
"Hey."
Clarke quickly replied but before he had time to say anything she was had already wrapped her arms around his neck and placed her lips onto his. Bellamy stumbled backwards a little to catch her but with his hands holding her by the waist Clarke could feel his lips form a smile as they kissed.
"People are watching."
Bellamy was conscious of their audience.
"I don't care."
Clarke mumbled and joined him in a smile as they continued to kiss. They could hear the remaining hundred that was sent to earth, cheering and clapping in their union. Clarke felt butterflies in her stomach as she held onto Bellamy. The kiss proved that their relationship was stronger than just the physical attraction but the attraction of a stronger leadership. A leadership which was not just based on their love for each other, but a relationship built on trust, strength and honesty. Bellamy and Clarke now had their fresh start.
-The End-
