Chapter 21: Forgive and Forget.
Zero's POV
I felt like my heart would explode as I watched Akane walk away with tears in her eyes. I feel so stupid for what I did, but... she's a pureblood. There's no way we could be together...
A few minutes after Akane had walked away, I started to head back towards the dormitory. On the way there, I spotted Akane leaning against a tree, crying her eyes out.
Seeing her like this made my heart drop... If there was some way to just make her forget about me, I'm sure she would be so much happier...
At that moment, my gaze fell upon Kaname Kuran, who was also watching Akane from a distance. That's when it hit me.
Kaname can use his mind control abilities to make Akane forget about me...
I sighed deeply and walked towards him, "Kaname."
His head shot in my direction and his eyes turned a burning crimson color, "What do you want?"
I looked away, trying to avoid eye contact with the furious pureblood, "You vampires all have mind control abilities, right?"
"Correct," he answered, "But why are you asking?"
I looked straight into his eyes and spoke in a serious tone, "Can you use that to make Akane forget everything about me?"
He sighed and his eyes returned to their usual color, "Yes... I suppose that would be the best thing to do... Promise me something."
"What is it," I asked.
He narrowed his eyes at me, "After I erase Akane's memories of you, swear to me you'll never bother her again."
I turned around, "I promise." With that, I walked back to my dorm.
Kaname's POV
After Zero walked away, I started going towards Akane. I stepped on a branch, causing it to crack, and Akane instantly hid her face.
"W-Who's there," she asked.
"It's me," I answered, standing beside her, "Why are you crying?"
She wiped away her tears and looked up at me, "I-I'm not crying, there was s-something in my eye..."
I sighed and wrapped my arms around her, "You're shaking."
Tears remained in her eyes, "That's because it's cold..."
I pulled away and looked down at her, "Don't lie to me."
Tears began to fall from her eyes again and she buried her face in my chest, "My heart hurts so badly... Being unwanted by the one person you wanted the most in the world is the worst feeling I've ever come across..."
I looked down at her sadly as I wrapped my arms around her, "It will all be alright..."
She continued to hide her face in my chest, "No it won't... My world feels like it's spinning, and I'm scared out of my mind... I don't know what to do... I feel like-"
I pulled away and pressed my lips against hers to silence her, so she could calm down. After I pulled away, she looked down at the ground and wiped away her tears.
"Why did you kiss me," she asked, still wiping away her tears.
I caressed her cheek and smiled warmly, "Because you were crying."
She continued to look at the ground, "Don't tease me."
I grabbed her chin with my thumb and index finger, causing her to look up at me, "I didn't do it to tease you."
"What do you mean," she asked.
I sighed deeply, "Forgive me."
Before she could respond, I placed my hand over her forehead and erased every memory she had of Zero Kiryuu.
She was unconscious after I finished erasing her memories, so I carried her the infirmary to let her rest there.
As I was carrying her to the infirmary, I ran into Zero.
He looked at the unconscious girl in my arms and sighed, "Did you do it?"
I nodded and continued walking, "Yes, I erased every trace of you from her memory. She'll be transferring into the Night Class tomorrow, which means she'll also have a dorm in the Moon Dormitory. You won't have to worry about running into her."
Finally, my dear Akane will be with me...
