Uhm... Hi...?
Okay, I'm just going to drop this here and slowly walk away...
I have no excuses. I'm a horrible humanbeing with this writingscedule.
chapter nineteen
Good morning sunshine, I hope that you're well
Honey I missed you, last night when night fell
You should know, sunshine, you brighten my day
The world gets so dark, love, when you go away
'' . .'' I growled at my radio, covering my head with my pillow.
''You're all mental, I'm sure you're actually trying to drive me crazy,'' I hissed. Not fun.
The volume went up. I threw my pillow towards the radio,
''ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT,'' I yelled and sat up. I jumped down from my bed and collected the same blue skinny jeans I had yesterday and a green flannel shirt.
I walked the stairs down two at a time and walked to the kitchen. Mum and Grams were already there and mum wrinkled her nose.
''Are those the same clothes you wore yesterday to school?''
I rolled my eyes. I had forgotten moms obsession for clothes and particularly not recycling outfits.
''Possibly.''
Mom didn't answer, but grams filled the silence.
''Isn't the Cullens' party tonight?''
I groaned and slammed my head against the table. Clearly my clothes weren't the only thing I had forgotten. I had forgotten Alices' party.
''Cullens? As in the vampires?'' Mom asked alarmed, ''Are you medling with the vampires now?''
''I think the invite includes you too, dear, if you care to join.''
I sat up quickly. No. Nope. No.
Mom wrinkled her eyebrows but clearly considered it.
''I don't think..'' I started, trying to come up with a plan to get my mom to not to go. Hell, I didn't even want to go myself.
''I think I might even pop in. I haven't seen Carlisle in ages and it might be interesting to properly meet them, you now, with no secrets,'' grams was humming.
Ggggreat. This gets better and better.
''Don't look so horrified, Alexis. I'm only staying for a while. The pack is coming too. It's going to be fun.''
''Fun.''
'' .No,'' I groaned and fell down on to my bed.
''Oh stop it, you look great'', Seth rolled his eyes. He was waiting for me to get dressed.
''I'm not wearing a dress today. No fucking way,'' I groaned and waved my hand to the attire I was forced to wear. Mum decided the dinner party with Cullens' was worth at least wearing a dress and grams agreed. I think she agreed just to torture me.
Seth came to pick me up, which actually means that he'll be sharing a ride with me, mom and grams. It's going to be fun twenty minutes in a car. Mom didn't make snappy comments as Seth came in, but didn't seem happy. Seth was his polite, sunshiney self, of course.
And back to the main-crisis, here I am, wearing a plain black skater-dress and a ponytail. A DRESS.
As in, not jeans. Nope.
''Nope. No. I'm staying home.''
Seth sat up and I wanted to groan. He looked more than charming with button-up skater-look-a-like-shirt and black skinny jeans that did all the justice to his well-formed butt.
Oh fudge, I need to calm down. Calm down you horrible teenage monster.
I scowled. ''I hate dresses. I like jeans. I want jeans.''
Seth sighed and stood up, ''You're such a girl, Oakhill.''
He walked in front of me and took my face into his hands and lifted my chin.
''Stop whining. You look amazing in the dress. You're hot. Keeping your hair in a ponytail compliments your face and lets me see your freckles and makes your eyes pop.''
''...Are you gay?''
Seth snorted, ''what?''
''No straight guy would use terms like 'compliment' and 'making eyes pop' describing a girls looks and could possibly sound convincing.''
Seth smirked, ''why are you blushing then?''
I shoved him and turned around. I need more makeup.
''Oh, this is going to be fun,'' I mumbled and jumped out of the car. As if the car-journey wasn't bad enough. Grams and Seth kept having a light-hearted small talk, me and mom mumbling something in between if adressed. Every second of silence was so awkward I actually concidered jumping out of the moving car.
''Took you long enough,'' Paul smirked. He had his arm around Rachel, who also had a creepy, perverted grin on her face. Cheez, these two were unbelievable. I saw the wolves studying my mom and Sam introduced everyone and mom was cold, but polite. They all knew her story. My story. And it was painfully obvious.
''What are you standing outside for, kids, I assume the party is actually happening inside,'' Grams said and walked towards the door. Here we go.
''Come in, come in, come in,'' I heard Alices hyper-voice and she looked like she was going to explode with excitement. ''Alexis!'' She rushed to hug me and I just stood there like an idiot.
''You look cute! You should wear dresses more often,'' She said with an genuine smile and Seth snorted. I gave him my evilest look. Seriously, this guy needs to spend less time with Paul. Or maybe me.
''Your house is... very white,'' I ended my brilliant praise. Wow. I'm really good at this aren't I?
''Well thank you, you must be Alexis,'' Esme walked towards me and gave me a cold hug. Like, actually cold, as her body temperature is pretty much non-excisting.
''I'm Esme. This is my husband, Carlisle.'' I shook hands with Carlisle, who actually was quite handsome this close.
''Nice to meet you,'' I nodded. Not you, I glanced towards Edward, who chuckled.
''Darlene, it's been a long time, hasn't it? I've heard much interesting things since we last met,'' Carlisle winked at grams, who gave a heart-warming laugh.
''I've fooled you good, haven't I, Carlisle?''
''Indeed. I'm not an easy one to fool,'' He smiled.
Grams and Carlisle continued chatting and mom joined in, mostly just with short couple of word sentences. I felt the need to roll my eyes.
''Nice to properly meet you, Alexis, I'm Emmet. You probably haven't met Rosalie.'' Emmet shook my hand and guided me towards the beautiful blond who studied me.
''You stink like a dog,'' She said plankly, but still shook my hand.
''Rosalie!'' Nessie let out in surprise.
''You smell like a corpse,'' I still kept her hand in mine, ''oh wait.. you are one, aren't you?''
Rosalie twitched in surprise, but didn't loose her cold-bitch, look. Then she grinned.
''Interesting.''
''That could have gone south quite fast,'' Edward said and walked towards me, Jacob, Nessie and Bella on his heels.
''Oh please,'' I grinned. I would kick her ass in seconds.
''That's exactly what I meant,'' Edward nodded. Seth sighed and I raised my eyebrows at him.
''I like conversations that include actual talking as in lips moving and voice coming out,'' He shrugged. I rolled my eyes.
''Should we properly introduce ourselves?'' Bella gave me a smile and stretched her arm towards me.
''Bella Cullen and this is my daughter Renesm-''
''I prefer Nessie'', Nessie said with confidence that surprised me a bit. I assumed her to be a bit more shy. Maybe it was because we were actually in her natural enviroment.
The party started quite well, surprisingly. Emily harrassed mom and I think she was actually one of the only people here mom was polite because she wanted to, not because she had to. I just stood against the wall like a wallflower and had conversations when someone started them with me. Seth politely stayed by my side until I threatened to kick his ass if he wouldn't mingle and all that.
''Glad to see you're having a blast,'' Edward said politely and walked next to me. ''Did you try the food? Esme will be disappointed if you don't.''
''Tasted it. Delicious. How does she know to cook?''
''Years of practice.''
''I'm more interested in the fact that how does she know if there's enough or too much salt, for example? I assume all food taste like shit in your mouths,'' I shrugged.
Emmet snorted and I gave him a look, as he was quite far away from us. ''Rude,'' I pointed out, meaning the fact he was eavesdropping. He just laughed.
I crossed my arms and sighed. It's going to be a long evening.
''What am I hearing? I don't appreciate sighing or pouting in my party,'' Alice walked towards us gracefully. I rolled my eyes.
''What can I say, I'm just a party animal.''
Jasper chuckled. I studied him and nodded, he did the same. I liked this kind of introductions, not too long and not too awkward.
''What are you planning here?'' Seth walked next to me and placed his arm around my shoulders, grinning. I looked at his hand and then raised my eyebrow at him. He noticed it and removed his arm around me. Alice giggled and Embry snorted.
What am I, a circus animal? Why is everyone stalking me. Such a pain.
''Want to sing karaoke?'' Alice surprised me and I felt my heart skip a beat and all color drain from my face.
''Wow, did you hear that?'' Embry asked Collin and pointed at me, laughing.
''Are you okay?'' Seth asked worried. No, I am not. I am definetely not taking part in karaoke.
''I guess that was no for the karaoke then?'' Alice confirmed. Damn everyone with their weird ass hearing.
''Please don't suggest any of sort ever again,'' I mumbled.
''I don't understand what the fuzz is about, I recall you like to sing in the shower, very loudly,'' grams stated and looked at me innocently.
''Really?'' Seth and Paul asked at the same time, both grinning.
''You!'' I pointed at grams shocked, ''You should be at my side here! Start acting like a proper grandma! And I don't sing in the shower.''
Grams rolled her eyes and grinned at Edward, who chuckled. I gasped. She did not just show him!
''I despise you,'' I scowled.
Grams just chuckled, ''My work here is done. Let's go, sweetheart,'' grams said and grabbed my moms arm, ''I assume you'll get home by yourself?''
I just nodded. Easypeasy.
They said their farewells and walked out. I heard the car drive out from the driveway. Jasper sighed and I felt... clearer.
I felt my anger burst, ''you did not just...'' I hissed.
''Calm your titties, Oakhill,'' Emmett said, ''Jasper just made it more.. relaxed.''
What the fuck?
How did he even know that things needed to be calmed down?
I shot my eyes at Edward, who looked at me apologically. Great. Just great.
''So is there anyone who needs to be filled in with my life? Would be a shame if someone was missing out,'' I hissed.
Everyone was quiet and looked guilty. I stood in the awkward silence for too many seconds.
''That's it. I'm leaving,'' I blurted and started to walk towards the door. I didn't look back. ''Thanks for having me. It was great.''
I rushed out and heared Edward saying something to Seth.
''Alexis!''
I continued walking, not looking back.
''Alexis!''
''ALEXIS FOR FUCKS SAKES,'' Seth yelled and ran next to me and forced me to stop walking.
''Can you please stop running or walking away from me? It's quite exchausting.''
I didn't say anything, I just decided to scowl.
''I'm leaving.''
''I'm leaving with you.''
''No. Just leave me alone, '' I brushed him off.
Seth took my hand in to his, ''No.''
''Fuck Seth, Why can't you just leave me alone?''
''Because you don't want me to,'' He shrugged.
I crossed my arms, ''Oh, I do.''
''No you don't.''
''SETH-''
''You don't. You would have used your magic to get out of here if you didn't want me to follow you.''
I opened my mouth to argue with him.
Seth pulled me closer and smirked victoriously.
''I hate you.''
''Oh please, Oakhill, you adore me.''
