Romance Of The Three Kingdoms The Re Up

Chapter 21

Time: 2:50 a.m.

Place: Woods Near Zhuge Liang's Altar

Weather: Fierce Cold Winds Blowing Northeast

Date: December 14, 208

Xiahou Dun gripped his blade tight as nothing but Gongsun Sam reflected in his eye. He knew it was time for some revenge. "I hope you've made peace with everybody in your life because tonight will be the night you die." He said in a dark voice.

Gongsun Sam looked terrified she held her bow in her left hand and her right hand tightly gripped an arrow in her quiver. A fight with Xiahou Dun was one of the last things she wanted at the moment.

"Stay back or I'll shoot…" Gongsun Sam threatened as she now pointed the arrow at him.

Zhao Yun was now in a deadlock with Yue Jin. "My lady please be careful!" He shouted.

Xiahou Dun stepped closer to Gongsun Sam. Gongsun Sam stepped back slightly trembling.

"I'm warning you! Unless you want to be completely blind you need to go away." Gongsun Sam warned.

Xiahou Dun felt a slight bolt go through his body, kind of like temptation. He couldn't help but smirk at her. "Is that a threat?" He asked.

Gongsun Sam responded by firing the arrow at him. She missed by a longshot. "Why the hell can't I seem to aim right?!" Gongsun Sam thought to herself.

Xiahou Dun scoffed at the poorly fired arrow and charged towards her, Gongsun Sam began running away not seeing much of an alternative since she had little to no time to grab another arrow.

Zhao Yun and Yue Jin continued their battle through the woods. Yue Jin executed his speed but Zhao Yun's technique was enough to even the fight out.

"Ha you're pretty good." Yue Jin complimented as he took a swing at Zhao Yun. Zhao Yun blocked it and swung his spear downwards towards Yue Jin's feet but Yue Jin had that scouted and leapt high in the air evading the strike.

"Wow he's fast, how am I going to catch him with a sufficient strike if he dodges everything?" Zhao Yun thought to himself.

(Zhuge Liang's Altar)

Zhuge Liang stayed down on his knees with his hands up high to his face praying for a miracle. He knew that if he could somehow get the winds to blow south east towards Cao Cao's fleets than the fire attack would be a success and the battle would be decisive. A lot of people doubted that he could do it and many said he was just wasting his time but Zhuge Liang continued to be persistent. He did not seek any recognition nor did he look to get any rewards for his efforts. He was simply doing what he vowed to do and that was help Liu Bei in any way he could.

"Am I wasting my time here?" That same question Zhuge Liang asked Liu Bei. It floated around in his head ever since he asked that question.

Liu Bei came to him for help and now that Zhuge Liang was offering the help and even concocted a plan to get some footing for Liu Bei and Liu Bei had the sheer audacity to call it off out of fear of being viewed as a bad man by few people. He wondered if Liu Bei was really strong enough to handle what comes with ruling the land and most of all being a leader of an army.

"Being a leader of the people simply means you lead them the best way you know how. Not everybody is going to like you regardless." Zhuge Liang thought to himself.

He slowly shook his head and got back to his prayers. He had no time to be distracted with that right now. He'd have to address that situation later…

(Wu Fleet)

Zhou Yu and Pang Tong laughed as they downed another glass of wine together. Together they had been drinking the night away.

"Man I can't believe we actually agreed to go to war with Cao Cao's massive army." Zhou Yu laughed. "Have we gone mad?"

Pang Tong laughed. "Well I mean it beat the alternative which was surrender to him."

Zhou Yu leaned back in his chair. "Yeah but I mean if this fire attack doesn't work what do we do next?" He asked.

Pang Tong thought for a minute. It was indeed true that they were going out on a limb by letting Zhuge Liang convince them that he could somehow make the winds change direction. "Well Master Zhuge Liang is confident that the winds will blow south east." He answered.

Zhou Yu quietly scoffed to himself. "What is he supposed to be some God or a magician?"

Pang Tong shook his head softly. "I don't know but he seems to know what he's doing. Albeit nobody acknowledged that without me the plan would be useless. I chained our fleets to Cao Cao's but apparently that's nothing compared to praying for the winds."

Zhou Yu raised an eyebrow. "What you did was just as important if not more important than what Zhuge Liang is doing. You actually risked your life by carrying out your mission. You could've gotten killed out there. So you have my respect for that Master Pang Tong." Zhou Yu said.

He poured himself and Pang Tong another glass of wine and they rose it up and began drinking again. As they drank, Pang Tong couldn't keep his mind off of the fact that Zhuge Liang never even congratulated him or even acknowledged the mission he did for them.

(Woods)

Zhao Yun narrowly avoided a quick strike from Yue Jin. He managed to see the first blade coming for his head but he almost didn't catch the second incoming strike. He bent backwards avoiding another deadly strike, and responded with a strong kick to Yue Jin's torso. Yue Jin stumbled backwards slightly and Zhao Yun hurried to him to strike. Yue Jin jumped high in the air dodging him. However, he never came back down.

Zhao Yun stood firm holding his spear turning round and round to watch his surroundings. "Show your face!" He demanded. He heard the tree above him beginning to rattle. He aimed his spear upwards ready to strike.

Faster than he could react, Yue Jin leapt out of nowhere in the tree and landed on him. Zhao Yun quickly fought Yue Jin off of him and stood up and swung his spear a bit wild style. Yue Jin accidentally dropped his blades when he lifted his right arm to block the strike. Zhao Yun's spear sliced right across his right wrist slicing a vein. Zhao Yun struck again and Yue Jin tried to block with his left hand, his left wrist ended up getting sliced as well. Now he was left with two sliced wrists that looked like he had tried to commit suicide.

"Dammit gotta retreat now." Yue Jin muttered to himself as he ran off trying to stop the bleeding the best way he could think of.

Xiahou Dun swung his sword powerfully at Gongsun Sam. He missed and she continued running. Xiahou Dun was now getting annoyed with chasing her.

"If you stop running now I might make it quick." Xiahou Dun growled as he pursued her.

Gongsun Sam ran and hid behind a tree. Xiahou Dun ran by and began looking around.

"Where did that little bitch go?" Xiahou Dun muttered.

Gongsun Sam stayed down behind the tree hoping he wouldn't somehow see her hiding. Suddenly Yue Jin came charging by.

"Gotta retreat Xiahou Dun my wrists are slit!" He shouted as he ran by full speed.

Xiahou Dun rolled his eye. "Wherever you are know that next time we meet will be the last!" Xiahou Dun called out before he ran off as well.

Gongsun Sam let out a sigh of relief and stood up slowly. She dusted the dirt off her clothes. "I sure hope Master Zhao Yun is okay."

(Wei Fleets)

Li Dian and Xiahou Dun hurried Yue Jin to a doctor on the fleet. The doctor instantly began wrapping up Yue Jin's wrists to stop the bleeding.

Yue Jin chuckled slightly. "I'm just glad he didn't cut my entire damn hands off." He said.

Li Dian nodded. "I know you're lucky."

Cao Cao burst in the room looking baffled and concerned. "Is he gonna be okay?!"

The doctor finished wrapping both wrists. "He's going to be just fine. I would just recommend not to going to battle for a while so you don't aggravate those wounds."

Cao Cao finished up talking with Yue Jin and made sure Yue Jin promised not to go back to battle until the wounds eventually heal fully. When he was finished, he exited the room and began walking the halls with Xiahou Dun, who was a little too quiet.

"Something bothering you Xiahou Dun?" Cao Cao asked.

Xiahou Dun just grunted and stayed silent. Too bad Cao Cao was persistent.

"Tell me what's wrong this instant Xiahou Dun." Cao Cao demanded.

"Gongsun Sam got away okay! I didn't get to kill her!" Xiahou Dun answered angrily.

Cao Cao arched an eyebrow. "Don't you think you're going a little too far with your anger towards her?" He asked.

Xiahou Dun scoffed. "You would too if she shot your damn eye out." He replied with an attitude.

"I understand that Xiahou Dun but you are really starting to become a little too…" Cao Cao began.

"Too what?" Xiahou Dun as he stopped walking and stared intensely at Cao Cao.

"Obsessed…." Cao Cao answered. It sounded more like a question than a statement.

Xiahou Dun stared at Cao Cao becoming more angry with every breath he took. "Okay so this wench shoots my eye out and I'm supposed to just sweep it under the rug like it never happen?! No she's gonna pay and she's gonna pay big time!"

Cao Cao shook his head. "I'm not saying that I'm just saying you need to relax a little. Take a break and take your mind off of her for a while."

Xiahou Dun knew Cao Cao was right. Gongsun Sam seemed to be the only thing he thought about day in and day out. He didn't respond to Cao Cao, instead he turned and angrily stormed away to be alone.

Cao Cao in the meantime headed for the horse barn and saddled up on his horse and began riding away.

"My Lord where are you going?" Xu Zhu asked running behind him.

Cao Cao looked back at him. "I'm heading to the front lines. You're welcome to come if you'd like."

Xu Zhu happily obliged and grabbed his big club and began walking next to Cao Cao as he rode his horse.

They traveled in silence until Cao Cao felt an unexpected shift…He turned and looked at Xu Zhu confused.

"What is it my Lord?" Xu Zhu asked.

Cao Cao looked around puzzled and scratched his scalp. "I'm not exactly sure if I'm right but did you just feel the winds shift….?"
