Suki
Today I was told, was an important day. Today was the day of the solar eclipse. Today was the day that the invasion would take place. Today was the day that the fire nation would have victory. Today was a day that Ty Lee was sent to keep watch over me and train me for my mission.
Why she always volunteered to work with me was a mystery; I didn't like her much, and she seemed to be uneasy when I was around her.
She was showing me a new flip when she became frustrated at my apparent lack of enthusiasm. She dropped into a sitting position and I followed suite. She looked into my eyes for a long while before taking a deep breath and speaking; "Suki, why are you so agitated? You and I used to be friends you know… at least, I thought we were. Are you…"
I cut her off abruptly; "you want to know why I seem agitated? The fire nation is being invaded. You know who is leading the invasion? Do you?" she shook her head. "Sokka is." I spat his name out like a curse. "He had claimed to love me. Do you know what is like to be promised love and then have it taken away by the same hand?"
"I… Suki…" she paused. "I shouldn't say anything. You were captured, he probably has no idea where you are, he might not even know. What if he were to try to rescue you?"
"Then he would be in for a big surprise. I hate him." Ty lee seemed taken aback by my declaration. "Suki, please don't mean that, you should never hate someone. Especially after all you've gone through."
"What do you mean by that?"
She seemed to hesitate, almost unsure of what to say. Finally, after a long pause, she spoke; "Suki… do you know what Azula did to you?"
"No."
"She brainwashed you, not once, but twice. We were friends, but she took that away. She took so much away from you, she nearly killed you. She blocked away parts of your mind so that only she could use them. She made you think things that never happened to you did. She crushed your hope. She imprisoned you here; she intends to let you rot. You aren't supposed to know, but the avatar is still alive."
An explosion rocked the room we were in. followed closely by several more. The ceiling shook and dust fell down onto us. A slab of rock was dislodged and crashed down. It would have crushed me if Ty Lee hadn't thrown us back towards the door.
She wrenched the door open and we staggered out. We raced down a passage way, and out onto a grassy hillside. We could see the beach from where we were. The sun was shinning dimly as it began it's downwards arc.
A massive shadow passed over us and we looked up I awe; a massive airship was passing over head. The invasion force was retreating back to the beaches, but it was clear that they wouldn't make it.
I heard someone shout my name, and I turned around. Azula was standing at the top of the hill we were on. She looked fairly upset.
When we approached her she spoke; "Suki, how would you like to have some revenge?"
I could only nod.
I found myself in prison. The place was called the Boiling Rock. Azula had done… I don't know. I think she took me to the Dai Li, but I couldn't be sure. I had memories floating around in my head that felt like they belonged to someone else.
The lights went out in my cell block, and I closed my eyes. Once more, I was in prison.
I followed Azula down into the palace catacombs. She had outlined a plan to kill the avatar. All I had to do was wait, she was certain that the avatar would try to rescue the people that had been captured, and that they would come to a place known as the Boling Rock.
I willingly let them plant new command phrases in my mind. In the hopes that I would be able to infiltrate the group and strike them when they least expected it.
My memories were modified, so that I couldn't give anything away. Then I was dropped off here. And told to wait. I would have my chance; all I had to do was be patient. As we left Ty Lee whispered to me that I was being disposed of.
I awoke sweating. It was the middle of the night. My cell was pitch black. I closed my eyes and tried to remember all the details of my dream. It had been so odd, like I was someone else. I decided to shrug it off and go back to sleep. The morning would bring change. I hoped. I couldn't shake the feeling that I had been dumped here because Azula had no use for me.
