Chapter Nineteen, The Reunion Part V

Greg and Tim continued talking as they made their way back to the commons. Tim talked about some of the places he had seen during his time in the Navy while Greg talked about some of the more unusual cases he had witnessed during his time in Las Vegas. Everything still seemed so surreal to the young lab tech.

So far, this had not been the reunion the young lab tech had expected.

Nick was there with him and had met his family. He had met his friends and got along with them. And as amazing as that was, it was his encounter with Tim that had surprised Greg the most. All of the scenarios he had imagined over the years had always ended with Tim punching him right in the face.

Yet when the two of them finally came face to face, the man had only expressed deep regret for his actions and whatever consequences they had caused. He asked for forgiveness and now the two of them were making polite conversation like they had been friends for years. When they got back to the commons, they did not go in directly. As they stood out in the hall, Greg could not help but feel like he was an awkward teenager standing on his date's front porch.

"Tim...I want to say...I want to say thanks for..."

"There no need to thank me," the man replied with a wave of his hand. "It's something I should have done a long time ago."

"Still..."

"That's enough of that, Greg. It's over and done with."

"Right," Greg said nodding his head. "Figure we should get back to our dates? I'm surprised they haven't formed search parties to find us."

Tim chuckled. "True but how about you come and meet my wife first? I know she would love to meet you. Our table s right over there." he said pointing out a table where a woman was sitting alone and taking a sip of her drink.

While he wanted to get back to Nick and Alice, Greg also wanted to meet Tim's wife and maybe thank her for what she did for him with her husband. "I'd like that too."

Greg followed Tim and when they reached the table, his wife stood up to. Tim's wife was very attractive. She had beautiful chestnut brown hair that flowed over her shoulders, sparkling blue eyes, and a dazzling smile that showed off her pearly white teeth that stood out against her ruby lips.

"It's about time you got back. I was starting to wonder if you got lost in the hedge maze," she said as Tim placed a small kiss on her cheek.

"I'm sorry about that, dear," Tim said before he motioned to Greg. "Amanda, this is Greg. Greg, my wife, Amanda."

Amanda Weaver's face broke out in a large comforting smile. "Hello, Greg. It's so nice I finally get to meet you."

"You too," Greg replied as the three of them sat down.

"I imagine Tim told you about the conversation I had with him?"

"Yes," Greg answered.

Amanda looked over to her husband who gave her a small nod. "I love my husband to death but even I can be amazed at what an asshole he could be."

"In my defense I was a teenager-"

"A typical brainless teenager," Amanda interjected forcefully. "You really can't blame him for the way he reacted," she said looking back to Greg. "At that age, the average teenage male's brain hasn't fully developed. I'm just sorry it took nearly two decades for Tim to realize what an utter jackass he had been."

"It's alright. Really, it is," Greg assured her. "Like you said, we were teenagers and like Tim said, it's over and done with."

"You're right. The both of you are," Amanda said with a kind smile. Tim took his wife's hand and gave it a loving squeeze.

"I don't know what I would do without you."

Amanda grinned. "Lead a dull and boring life."

Both Tim and Greg chuckled.

"And as for you," Amanda said turning to Greg, "I'm glad to see things have seemed to work out for you," Amanda said as she nodded over to his table where Nick was currently taking a sip of his drink.

"Thanks," Greg replied.

Amanda reached over and placed her hand on his and gave it a soft squeeze. "Happy to."

Greg smiled then he stood up. "Well, I better be getting back to my table. I hope I'll get to talk to you guys again before this thing's over with."

"That sounds great," Tim said as he shook Greg's hand.

"You should join us tomorrow for the reunion breakfast," Amanda suggested. "You and your very attractive date."

"Sounds great. I'll ask Nick about it."

Tim once again thanked Greg for their talk and both he Amanda told him she was looking forward to meeting Nick tomorrow. With one last smile and nod, Greg turned and headed back to his own table.

"Where the hell have you been?" Alice asked as Greg appeared at the table

"Talking with Tim," the lab tech answered as he sat down next to his boyfriend.

Alice huffed. "Took you long enough. Seems like you've been gone for eight months."

"Well it was worth it," Greg stated as he took a drink of water. Putting his glass down, he looked over to Nick. "I take it Alice told you about him?"

"Yes," the Texan answered looking straight into Greg's chocolate brown eyes with a solemn expression "and everything else and I have only one thing to ask you."

Greg felt a cold twinge of fear run through him as he looked at the serious look on the CSI's face. It was the same look his boyfriend wore when telling family members about their loved one's death and learning new information from collected evidence that made stomachs churn with disgust. All he could do was simply nod his head for Nick to ask his question.

Taking a deep breath, Nick looked to Greg and asked in a sober tone, "Who is hotter in a singlet, me or Tim Weaver?"

As Greg gaped at him like a fish out of water, Nick's face broke out in a larger than life grim while Alice nearly choked on her drink when she heard Nick's question. The mood for rest of the evening remained lighthearted as they enjoyed the rest of the reunion dinner.

"Where are we going?"

"Shh. Keep your voice down or the neighbors will call the cops on us."

Nick had no idea what Greg was doing. By the time they left the reunion and made it back to the house, it was a little past midnight. All the lights were off with the exception of the porch light and a light that had been left on inside which Nick could see through the glass in the door. They were halfway to the front door when Greg suddenly grabbed his wrist and started to head over to the gate at the side of the house.

"Greg-"

"Just follow me."

Nick did as he was told and followed Greg into the back yard. Greg led him over to the porch swing and the two of them sat down. The view before them was beautiful. The Golden Gate Bridge and downtown were stunning at night. Off in the distance, they could just hear the sounds of boats in the bay.

"It's beautiful isn't?" Greg asked as they gazed at the view.

"Sure is," Nick answered as he wrapped his arm around Greg's shoulder.

A cool breeze swept over them as they sat which made the younger man snuggled up close to the Texan. Somewhere in the backyard, a cricket started to chirp and was soon joined by another. They heard a dog bark in another yard followed by the shriek of a cat as it ran off. Everything seemed so tranquil that neither of them wanted to move and go into the house.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you about Tim," Greg said after a few minutes of silence.

"It's okay, G," Nick answered. "I understand. Something like that can be hard to talk about. I'm just glad you two were able to talk about it and I didn't have to kick his ass if he tried to hurt you."

Greg chuckled. "Oh admit it. You would've loved to go all Texas and beat his ass so you could defend your man's honor."

Nick hummed in amusement. "It's how I was raised. So, only one day left of your reunion."

"Yeah. Then it's back to work," Greg slightly moaned. "I was thinking of heading back the day after tomorrow so that way I can have a chance to say goodbye to everyone. That way I would still have a day and a half to recover before I have to get back to the lab."

"Sounds like a plan," Nick commented as Greg got up and helped pull him up as well. "It's going to be hard saying bye to your folks and grandparents won't it?" he asked as they headed back to the front door.

"It will," Greg replied with a touch of melancholy to his voice as he put his key in the door lock. "You know, I may say I'm happy to live a state way from them a lot but I do miss them a lot."

"I know what you mean," Nick said as he thought about living so far away from his family back in Texas.

Quietly, they entered the house and closed the door behind them. Making sure to be as quite as possible, they headed up the stairs to Greg's room. Inside, they stripped to their boxers and got into bed. Before turning off the light, Greg made sure to set his alarm so they would not miss the Farewell Breakfast in the morning. In the dark, he felt Nick's strong arms wrap themselves around his waist and pull him up against his chest. It did not take long for the two men to fall asleep as they enjoyed the embrace.

-Author's Notes-

Again, I'm so sorry it took 8 months to get this new chapter posted but School and Real Life just threw me for a loop. To all of you who've kept up with me and waited patiently for me to update, all I can say is that you have the patience of a Saint.

This chapter fought me at every turn and as you can see it only had two acts. I originally planned to have more interactions with Greg and Amanda but nothing ever seemed to be right so I had to cut that scene down. Alice's statement about Greg being gone for 8 months is a little joke I added about you all having to wait that long for this chapter. I hope you caught it.

So CSI is now officially over with. I guess there's supposed to be some TV special but apparently George Eads won't be appearing. I really don't care because as I said long ago, I stopped watching the show a long time ago. But I can't help but marvel at the fact it had been on TV for as long as it had.

At the moment, I'm thinking 3 more chapters will be it before this story is finally concluded. I'll work on the next chapter when possible since this Semester I'm starting my actual Student-Teaching. This and the rest of my schedule will most likely leave me with very little free time but I'll try to get the next chapter up as soon as possible.

Thanks again for your great patience and I hope you leave me a Review to let me know what you thought. Thanks.
