Something in the water

Scott laid on his bed replaying the events that occurred the last forty-eight hours, not entirely sure what his next move is feeling as if he was to take another step he'd lose another person as things began to spin out of control now Scott's not quite sure how to fix them if he can fix them. Sighing he lifted himself off of his bed putting on his shoes and jacket, strapping on his backpack before making his descendant down the stairs seeing his sister on the couch knees up to her chest looking over the back of the couch staring out the window not acknowledging her brother's presence at all as she kept her daze outside the big window. Scott walked passed her and toward their mother at the dinning room table with her cup of tea looking forward watching her daughter.
"any news?" Scott asked breaking the silence that filled the house
"they're still looking for him, it's passed the forty-eight hour mark but I guess if anyone's going to go missing for two days and turn up just fine it's Stiles" Melissa said trying to even convince her self that Stiles was going to be okay even though she was down right worried as if it was her own son that went missing.
"how long as she been there?" Scott gestured over to his sister who still hasn't move.
"not sure I got down here at five am she was in that spot, only moved when she got up to get coffee and I'm guessing it wasn't her only cup" Melissa said giving another worried glance at her daughter
"she hasn't heard anything either?" Scott asked
"only that same text the Sheriff got saying I'm fine don't look for me" Melissa said
"think she'll go to school?"
" I hope so, I'd hate to leave her here alone" Melissa said
"what about Isaac?"
"maybe we should go by the hospital before school" Melissa said Scott nodded before making his way over to Scarlett placing a hand on her shoulder she jumped turning around to face her brother's worried face.
"we're going to see Isaac, you coming?" he spoke in a soft tone
"uh..yeah...yeah just let me get changed" she got up off the couch headed back up stairs to her room. There was no need to ask if she was okay for Scott knew the answer to that... neither of them were okay. A couple minutes passed Scarlett came running down the steps her hair in a high tight bun on her head pair of dark jeans ankle boots with a simple blue V-neck t-shirt and leather jacket not really caring on appearance today grabbing her bag, Scott, Melissa and Scarlett made their way over to the hospital.
As they made their way up to the third floor where Isaac was stepping out of the elevator Scarlett noticed Alison first sitting in the hallway in one of the uncomfortable chairs leaning on the wall sleeping, Scarlett place and hand on the huntress arm trying her best not to startled her as she sat up start shaking off the sleepiness.
"have you been here all night?" Scott asked
"yeah, they won't let me see him because I'm not family, I told them he doesn't have any" Alison said
"he does have one...It's us" Scarlett said confidentially
"Scar's right and I have a key card" Melissa said pulling it out of her jacket
"two point for Melissa McCall" Scarlett said as her mom lead the way to Isaac's room, swiping the key card letting the teens in front of her stepping in the doorway of the room seeing Isaac still laying there unconscious.
"be quick" Melissa told them as Scott headed in first taking the lead.
Seeing Isaac like this pained Scarlett as she slowly entered the room she wasn't the only as she felt a tight grip on her hand looking over seeing Alison's worried face Scarlett squeezed back not letting go as they walked toward Isaac. seeing his face still covered in burns, breathing tube under his nose, still hooked up to the monitors.
"I don't understand..." Scarlett began to say
"I thought he'd be healing by now" Alison said
"so did I" McCalls both said Scott placed a hand on Isaac's burned arm
"is he pain?"
Scott nodded as he kept his hand on the werewolf's arm as his veins turned black taking some relief from Isaac, Scott inhaled sharply letting go after a couple of minutes.
"it won't heal him but it helps with the pain" Scott told them
"Stiles really do this?" Alison asked Scarlett tightened her grip on Alison's hand hearing his name.
"whatever is controlling him did it, whatever is inside of him" Scott said
"well we need to get whatever is inside him out right the hell now" Scarlett said
"I'm working on it" Scott said
Scarlett, Scott and Kira were making their way down to the locker room to get ready for cross-country.
"the thing is, in all the stories kitsune are tricksters they're mischievous they don't really get caught up in right or wrong or even understand it" Kira told them
"like a very spoiled five-year old nice to see what we're working with" Scarlett said
"what's that mean? it's just doing this for the hell of it?" Scott asked ignoring his sister's comment
"no, there was something else I found if you somehow offend a nogitsune it can react pretty badly" Kira said
"well how the hell do you even do that, I haven't pissed off any dark spirits... well there's coach but that's a different story...Scott?" she said turning toward him
"I'm not sure how you offend a nogitsune, but it's doing something this bad then someone really offended it" Kira said
"come on before were late" Scarlett said as they changed in the girls locker room
"so cross-country? hmm" she said toward Kira throwing on her running shorts over her tights lacing her shoes up
"yeah I figured get into a sport, fit in more make some friends... I mean more friends... if you call us friends- I mean if you want to be friends we haven't really est-"
Scarlett cut off the rambling girl "Kira, we're friends okay besides it would be nice to have a girl to talk to on the team I don't exactly get along with the others something about my attitude and remarks... blah, blah, blah" she said zipping up her track jacket
"well I'm not bothered by the things you say" Kira said
"great" she chirped as they were making their way on the bus Scarlett stopped in front of coach
"wow coach I see you got a new whistle there fancy" she said
"you think.. it's specially made" he said showing off the words 'shut it' engraved on the side
"very you sir"
"thanks...wait don't try to butter me up McCall trying to make up for your incident last practice" he said
"me never" she said innocently
"whatever just get on the bus" he demanded Scarlett got on after hearing him mumble a few curse words under his breath she smiled taking a seat next to Danny looking around she had yet to see her brother or the twins... though she was glad not to see frick and frack.
"you alright?" Danny asked her pulling her out of her thoughts making her look at him
"totally just looking for Scott" she said
"haven't seen him since the locker room" Danny told her, Scarlett was about to say something else till coach blew that damn whistle if he kept this up that will be another one thrown out of a moving bus only this time she'll have the honors of doing it.
"listen up! anybody catches the slightest glimpse of Stilinski you contact the first available teacher got it? got it" he yelled
"yes coach" the bus roared back
"there's a card here for Isaac Lahey and every one of you losers is not only going to sign it but you're going to write a personal message so profound and deep it's going to bring a tear to coach's eye... who's first?" he asked Danny raised his hand up coach passed the pen and card to him
"ah Danny that's how you do it buddy, Keep it PG" he said "that goes for you too mini McCall"
"noted" she replied leaning over to look at the card
"writing a love note a undying confession" she teased
"no, he's not my type"
"meaning he's not Ethan"
"bite me Letty"
"I would but I'm not you're type" she mocked
The short ten to fifteen minute bus ride was spent with annoying kids and coach's whistle as they made it to the trail getting off the bus Scarlett stretched for about five minutes before coach blew the whistle indicating for them to take off.
With Scarlett , Danny, some other kid pulling in front of the line. Danny and Scarlett neck and neck now nothing that wasn't normal they always had competition who ever looses buys coffee for the other for a week which was always a motivator for the girl. the race was short-lived as their attention was drawn to Kira who pulled up beside them, Danny shocked and confused as the three of them lead leaving the others behind on the trial Danny and Scarlett tried to keep but Kira being the fox speed right passed the two. Scarlett soon took the lead leaving Danny in her dust she smiled to herself knowing she was going to win the bet this time completely focus on winning till she was picked up in the air arms around her waist then placed on the ground she screamed then saw it was Aiden her anger began to heat up.
"what the hell! I was about to win what are you doing?" she said catching her breath pushing away from Aiden
"saving you're life, come on" he said Scarlett was confused to what the hell he meant by that so out of curiosity she followed him as they walked up Kira and Scott
"now tell me what's-" she was cut off by a certain voice she hasn't heard for days
"SCOTT!" looking over she saw coach and Stiles running toward them.
"stop, stop, stop, everyone stop" Stiles shouted as the cross-country team came forward Scarlett still surprised to see Stiles in the flesh I front of her unharmed she couldn't take her eyes off him, he was okay, alive which put her at ease some what as she watched him crouch to the ground picking up a chain following it to see where it led Scarlett's heart beat picked up watching to see what would happen but slowly calmed as Stiles reached the end seeing nothing attached but that only left Stiles confused as coach clapped his hand together.
"congratulations Stilinski you found a link of chains will someone now please tell me what the hell is going on"Coach said stepping forward
"hey coach" Scott shouted but not soon enough as an arrow from out of the woods impaled the coach in his stomach Scarlett shocked and startled jumped back from her spot next to Aiden on to brush her arm against Stiles jumping again before she looked at him meeting his caramel eyes but she brushed up against him something didn't feel right but shaking that off as they went over the coach who was lying on the floor with an arrow sticking out of him.
"this day can't get worse" Scarlett mumbled
As Stiles, Scott and Aiden crouched down next to the historical man
"get it out! get it out of me!" coach yelled as the boys applied pressure Scarlett calling 911 on her cell and coach said not to bring cell phones out on the trail guess it's a good thing she never listens.
"get it out!" screaming again
"coach!"
"I'm going to die! get it out" he screamed again
Scarlett walked over "they'll be here soon" she told Scott
"coach you're not going to die" Stiles said
"it would hurt less if you stop moving coach" Aiden told him
"if you keep moving around you'll make it worse plus pulling it out you'll bleed more lose more blood then you already have and go into shock" Scarlett said the boys looked over at her
"it's the truth" she said
Aiden yelling at everyone to get back his brother moving the cross-country team away from the coach once they were in a distant Scott grabbed his hand like Isaac in the hospital taking his pain away grunting as he took his pain worse than before inhaling sharply Scarlett looked up at her brother worried but he nodded saying he was okay not to worry about him.
"I think he just passed out" Aiden said
"I-I could of killed him" Stiles said looking at his shaky blood stained hands "I could of killed him, what if it was his head? I could of"
"but it wasn't and he's going to be alright" Scott told him
" I think I just heard an ambulance coming" Aiden said
"and my dad" Stiles said
"so not a thing?" Scarlett asked Stiles as he wiped off the blood off his hands with a towel he found in the back of the jeep
"nada"
"zilch over the last 48 hours" she asked
"nope I have no clue but I know what happened at the hospital, that bag of tool... the map of the trail... Letty I-I don't know what's going on with me" he let out as his voice crack Scarlett wrapped her arms around his torso, worried herself about Stiles as he put his arms around her Scarlett got that same creepy feeling she did earlier sending chills down her spine not in a good way, hearing someone clear their throat the two pulled apart seeing the sheriff standing there.
"I'll let you guys talk" she said walking away and toward her brother and the twins as the Stilinski's talked watching as they loaded coach on to the ambulance.
"Scott you better look at this" Ethan called out making both Scott and Scarlett turn around seeing the twins going through the duffel bag in the back of Stiles' jeep
"this is the same wrapping paper we used to wrap coaches present" Scott said
"wasn't that William barrow's thing? a bomb made out of nails and bolts wrapped up in birthday present? where did it go off?" Ethan said
Scott looking back at his best friend who was still talking to his father
"on a school bus" Scarlett told them
As the crowds gathered around the front of the school, students and teachers as the police ran through backing everybody away from the school busses or now just this one school where the suppose bomb was on. Scarlett stood there next to brother making glancing here and there at Stiles as she felt unease about him since their reunion on the cross-country trail. All of them looking out as the Sheriff walked by with deputy Perish giving him a nod before entering the bus.
"anyone else but me raise and eyebrow toward deputy Perish" Scarlett said all the boys looked at her confused expression
"I mean how he sweeps into this town becoming superman being everywhere in the month he's been here... I'm just saying senses off a flag for me" she explains none of them say anything as they look back at the bus waiting for something to happen.
"you know if this is a real bomb shouldn't we be I don't know further back I'm this is clearly not safe even if it could still shatter those bus windows and the nuts and bolt impale one of these students." Scarlett said
"Scar, you keep talking I can't hear what's going on in the bus or what the sheriff is saying" Scott said
"fine, it was just an observation" she said folding her arms across her chest staying quiet like her brother wanted
"it's not a bomb" Scott told them listening in again all eyes focus as Perish came into view holding the name plant from the sheriff's desk to the windshield of the bus Scarlett looking over at Stiles this time both of them making eye contact then looking at the twins and Scott.
"what the hell?" Scarlett said the boys looking at each other
"it's at the station" Scott said
Running into the station Scarlett paused seeing the debris, shattered windows, the officers on the ground bleeding some limping severely wounded scanning the area till her eyes fall on two familiar faces she rushed over to them.
"Derek? Derek are you okay?" she asked looking at him then back to Argent seeing no injuries on him
"Derek" Argent said gripping his arms holding him steady
"I'm okay, I'm okay" he said between breaths
"you do know there's like a thousand pieces of glass sticking out of your back right?" she spat out sarcastically
"I'll heal"
"you saved my life" Argent said to him
"awe Derek you big care bear" Scarlett said she was about to speak again till she heard her name being called looking over seeing Stiles, Scott and now Kira on the other side of the room leaving Derek and Argent she rushed over to that side.
"what's going on?" she asked
"we have to get Stiles out of here, come on" Scott said dragging her by her arm they all piled into the jeep Kira and Scarlett in back Stiles heading down the street just as the storm was at its peak coming down hard flooding the streets.
"so we have to take him someplace safe where are we going to go?" Kira asked purging over the back seat
"the animal clinic" Scott told her
"the animal clinic?" Kira questioned
"yeah the place is like my house it's lined with mountain ash by us sometime" Scott said
"but they can get through it?" Stiles asked seeing the default in this plan
"eventually" Scarlett said speaking up
"nobody's got any better ideas?" Scott asked looking at them then back to the road
"unless you know violet from the incredibles who can put force fields around people this is it" Scarlett said
"okay, sure animal clinic it is" Stiles said
Finally making over to the clinic all of them rushing out of the jeep to the door suddenly stopping when they heard snarling from behind them Scarlett looking over she saw the oni standing in front of them Scott looked back over at Scarlett and Stiles tossing the keys to his sister
"get inside, get Stiles inside" he demanded as she caught the keys, Scott turning back transformed now growling at the oni as Scarlett jingling the keys in her hand trying to find the right one glancing once at her brother as he fought off the oni, trying to fit the right key in the lock after four tries finally getting the right one grabbing Stiles' arm to get him inside
"wait-wait Kira! Kira get inside!" he yelled over to girl
"Stiles you need to get inside I will get her" Scarlett dragged him further in hearing silence she turned around to finally face him seeing a smirk on his face making her feel even more unsettled than she felt all day on this topsy turvy day.
"you're not Stiles" she said backing up
"they do say you're the smart one, I could tell you sensed something off all day" he said stepping closer to her "but you never spoke up on it... shame you didn't trust your instincts Scarlett... better luck next time" he said closing in on Scarlett pinning her she manage to draw her arm back about to punch him in the face till he caught her wrist in mid-air tightening his grip on it making Scarlett whimper and fall to the ground before she had a chance to take back her wrist Stiles' fist connected to her face knocking her out with one blow hitting the ground hard.
I'm so sad about Tyler Posey my heart seriously aches for the whole Posey family, my prayers are with them R.I.P. to his mother... so sad
