I do not own Once Upon a Time.

Let's be like Amelia and not think about the crap that just happened. She has other better things to do.

"I missed you so much." Amelia said, out of breath when she rolled off of Neal much later that night.

"I missed you too. I'm sorry I ran off. I wasn't thinking straight. You put your past behind you, I should have done the same thing and trusted you." He took her hand and kissed her knuckles.

Part of her couldn't believe Neal was back in Storybrooke, back with her. But he was, back with her because he loved her and was worried about his father. Who thought the Dark One could get this kind of loyalty from his son?

Amelia felt she had to be honest about something. "I was considering leaving town to find you." She whispered.

Neal turned to her, horrified. "You would have crossed the town line and lost your memories for me?"

Amelia nodded, she felt tears in her eyes. "For you, I would do anything." Neal pulled her into a tight hug. "I was willing to give up my entire past, good and bad to have you back."

"I'm glad you didn't. I fell in love with you, all of you. you have been molded by every experience and came out on the other side as a beautiful, amazing, wise and powerful woman. I love you Amelia Hunter"

She still had issues taking compliments. "Well, my story isn't over yet. That could all change."

"Just don't go where I can't follow"

"Never." Then she paused to stare at him. "You never said those words before. I love you."

Neal looked at her. "No, either of us have. Wow, we are engaged and we never said those words. What is wrong with us?"

She giggled and kissed his nose. "A lot."

"Should we talk about what happened today?"

Amelia groaned. "Why do you want to ruin the moment? You want to talk about how Snow White used a cursed candle to trick the Evil Queen into killing her own mother, the Queen of Hearts? Even saying that sounds insane. I did not think she had it her. I said she didn't have the guts to do it back in the Enchanted Forest. Looks like I was wrong. This is going to stay with her forever."

"Do yours? Your murders? Do you think about them?"

"The self-defense ones are easy to forget, kill or be killed mentality. But the ones done out of anger or fear…. They tend to stick around. They become a part of you and remind you what not to do again."

"Mary Margaret did it in self-defense, if not Cora would have killed us all."

"Just keeping thinking like that."

They fell back to sleep. Hours later, Amelia shifted in her sleep to find nothing but air next to her. Part of her panicked as she started to sit up. Then a figure came out of the darkness and held her hand tight.

"I'm right here, I'm not going anywhere." Neal whispered, even though they were completely alone.

"I just need to make sure you are really here. I'm scared I'm going to wake up alone in this bed." She whispered back.

"That is not going to happen." He placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. "I just went for a glass of water."

"I wore you out?" She asked as he joined her back under the covers.

"Did I do the same for you?" His arm tightened around her waist, drawing her close.

"Maybe…" She smiled sleepily. In fact, she was deliciously sore. "I hadn't seen you in a few weeks. I just missed you."

"I missed you too." His hands found hers but didn't find the ring. "Where's your ring?"

She rolled over to look at him. "I stupidly thought we were through so I gave it to Belle. I thought it should remain in the family."

He did not get mad; he hadn't thought they were going to get back together when he drove off. It was thanks to his son that he saw the light. And came back to his love. "Looks like we are going to have to pay her a visit tomorrow."

Amelia smiled and settled back into his safe embrace. They were silent, too silent for her taste. "What's on your mind?"

"Nothing."

"Neal, a lot happened in the past two days. Talk to me."

"My father seems alright, like he really is trying. And then Cora is dead.

"Shh, it's over." Amelia lowered herself back down on the bed and pulled Neal down with her. All they did was cuddle, at that moment, that was all she needed and wanted.

Tomorrow they were going to visit Belle to get the ring back. That was a symbol of their love, their relationship, and their future together.

The following morning, Amelia and Neal went their separate ways, at least this time they meant to. Neal had gotten a call from Emma and he went to meet up with her, it was something about Henry.

Amelia couldn't be jealous and there was no reason to be jealous. Neal and Emma were Henry's parents; Amelia was just the future step mother. Not really involved with him yet. And she was ok with that. Besides the fact, she and Emma hadn't sat down for that peculiar chat yet.

Emma did have a few other things on her mind, like her own sweet innocent mother murdering her enemy's mother. Not many people's parents did that. But from what David had told her, Mary Margret wasn't dealing well.

Well, no one became a murderer and not feel guilty. Amelia knew that first hand. But the key was to convince yourself you did the right thing.

Amelia herself was heading to the pawn shop, she had to talk to Gold. They were all in trouble now with Cora gone at Mary Margret's hand. And now Regina was back to her old ways and wanted Mary Margaret gone.

She stood in front of the closed building. Where was Gold? Maybe the hospital with Belle? As far as Amelia knew, Belle did not have her memories back.

A few minutes later, Gold came around the corner.

"Miss Hunter." He still greeted her so formally. Really, she was going to be his daughter in law, he could use her first name.

"You're looking well and not close to death anymore. The Evil Queen still on a murderous rampage?" Amelia asked.

"As always, it's her defense method. Cora was dangerous because she didn't have a heart. Regina is dangerous because she has one."

"Darn pesky things, aren't they? You know she dragged us into world war three?"

"What's this us?" He asked perplexed.

"You, me, Neal, all of us. Whether you want to admit it, or not we are family now. And families fight together."

Gold just stared at her, unsure how to answer.

Neal met up her later that day. "So I know I said I wouldn't leave you, but Emma and I were talking and maybe it's a good idea for me to take Henry to New York. He would be safe and out of Regina's reach."

Amelia stared at him, shocked. "Henry's not going to leave his family, not now."

"I think I can convince him it's a good idea." Neal shrugged.

"Neal, I know your son pretty well." That might have gone too far, she regretted it as soon as she said it.

"Then it would provide some bonding time." He did sound a little hurt.

"I'm sorry, I want Henry to be safe too but he's not going to go willingly." Amelia grabbed his hand and squeezed.

Neal couldn't answer her. They entered Granny's, he went to a booth, and Amelia went to the counter to talk to Ruby.

"It's nice to see you happy again. So he came back when he realized he couldn't live without you?" Ruby greeted her, pushing a latte in her direction.

"Something like that. It was a combination of his father being poisoned and finding out he's a father himself and me being here." Amelia gratefully inhaled the latte. But she pulled back, the smell suddenly not agreeing with her.

"So, Jordan filled me in on your dalliance with the pirate. Why didn't you tell me all those amazing details?" Ruby almost pouted.

"Because I have known Jordan since forever and you would get too much pleasure over knowing those details." The mug went back on the counter.

Ruby moved the cup away from her, as if holding it hostage. "Never the less, you owe me a story."

Amelia's eyebrows shot up. "Seriously?"

"Seriously."

"Fine, one day, when you get me drunk." Amelia told her, though she did not plan on being drunk any time soon. She hadn't needed to drink, or really wanted to. Actually even the thought of drinking made her a little queasy.

Emma entered the diner with Henry in tow. She sat down next to Amelia, she looked worn out.

"Here, you need this more than me." Amelia said helpfully, pushing the latte in Emma's direction. "How's he doing?"

Ruby left to bring an ice cream sundae to Henry who was sitting in the booth with Neal. The ice cream was clearly a bribe.

"He's not talking to me; he really doesn't like being kept in the dark about… anything."

"And sending him to New York is good? He's not you, Emma. He believes that families should stay together in times of crisis."

"What do you mean he's not me?"

"You avoid bonds of friendship because you are used to them leaving you." She paused, almost scared she went too far. "Takes one to know one."

Before Emma was able to respond, Greg Mendell came to the counter. "Can I get this sandwich wrapped up to go? I was thinking about going on a hike."

"A hike, huh?" Emma asked.

"Well, Dr. Whale said it would be good for me to get on my feet. Plus, I'm kind of a nature photography nerd."

"He said you'd be to Pennsylvania?" Emma asked the question on both Ruby's and Amelia's minds.

"I took a liking to this town, I think it's beginning to grow on me." Greg told her before paying and heading out.

"Can't you just rip his throat out? He shouldn't be here. It's dangerous for all of us. Especially with Regina back to her normal self." Amelia said to Ruby.

"No, we just have to nicely ask him to leave." Emma jumped in. Then she glanced over to the booth where she had left Henry with Neal. Only now Henry was gone and Neal looked pleased with himself.

Emma walked over and exchanged a few words with him. Then Amelia heard "You fell for that, he's your son!" and knew there was trouble.

She stood up to follow Emma, Neal and Ruby out of the diner but for some unknown reason became suddenly dizzy. Amelia leaned against the counter until it passed. The group stood by the door, confused by her moment of weakness.

"Hey, you alight? You can sit this out." Neal was at her side.

She was going to argue with him but another wave of dizziness washed over her. "Yeah, just find him." Amelia sat down and watched Emma, Neal and Ruby leave. As left out as she felt, sitting was the best choice for her at moment.

Amelia focused on her breathing but she felt something was off.

Her murders, as in plural? Besides Benjamin, who else has she killed? And why is she dizzy?
