Katniss' POV

Then everything goes chaos.

The alarm is so loud that it's hurting my ears. People scramble out everywhere with confused and panic looks on their faces.

"Katniss, we have to go!" Gale yells over the fire alarm.

He's right, if we don't move now we'll get spotted right next to the fire alarm. But I had to press the button. Madge and Foxface were trying to convince one of the music teachers that I was really good at singing. They were saying 'please she's really good' and things like that. I don't know what that was about but I'm 100% sure that it wasn't good for me.

Madge knows that I don't want to do anything with singing in my future. I don't know really what I want to do, but it surely isn't singing; that's for sure. Even if I'm really good or not, I still don't want anything to do with singing. I don't.

Not anymore since my father died.

Gale grabs my wrist and pulls me along to the emergency exit of the building. Students and teachers are scrambling out of their in a hurry.

"Is this real?!"

"Oh my gosh, what is gonna happen?!"

"It is so fake!"

"It is so NOT!"

People argue and yell as we get out of the building.

Everyone hurries out of the building and runs to the big oval. Confused looks come across everyone's faces when we stop; except for Gale and me.

"I told you it was fake", someone mutters.

"There's no smoke or anything", another person states.

Everyone argues among each other but some people just sit down and start talking. We now can hear fire truck sirens. Shit.

"Would you explain to me now why it was such a good idea why you set the fire alarm off", Gale says so that I can only hear him over the stupid alarm.

"It was the only idea I had", I hiss at him.

"Doesn't seem like a good one", Gale mutters. "What did they mean by that she's really good at singing or something?"

I sigh and tell him, "Madge has heard me sing before, so she obviously is trying to help me get into a singing career or something. But I don't want to and-

"Wait, so you set the alarm just because your best friend was trying to help you?" Gale says.

"Yes, but-

"That's ridiculous! Why couldn't you just let her? You could've just gone in the room and that would silence them?! If you just have told me what was going on, I would've told you that!" Gale says annoyed. "Not just put on a freakin fire alarm!"

I know Gale's right as soon as he tells me that. "I wasn't thinking", I say ashamed of myself.

"And that video they were talking about; what the heck did they mean?" Gale says.

"I don't know", I say because I really don't know. How did they get a video of me singing?

"And why foxface, why?" Gale asks.

I'm quiet and he asks, "Why does-

"I don't freakin know, Gale! Stop asking me all of these questions just go and ask Madge!" I yell at him. I notice that you can no longer hear the fire alarm or anyone talking, so everyone is staring right at me.

"What are you all looking at?!" I shout at them annoyed. Everyone turns away and pretends that they have no idea what I just said.

"How much did they hear?" I ask quietly now.

"Just when you yelled at me", Gale answers looking at the ground. At least they didn't hear everything that we said.

All of us are silent as we look at someone coming up to the oval.

Snow.

Why does he have to be everywhere I go? What is wrong with that guy?!

"There seems to be a misunderstanding. There is no fire, but someone here, is so idiotic to put on the fire alarm. If we find out who it is, there will big consequences", Snow announces.

I roll my eyes. It's his first day here and he's already acting like he owns the school.

"Katniss", Gales hisses at me and points to my hand. It's bleeding; I must've cut it on glass. I didn't even notice it. I pull down my jacket sleeve so no one will notice.

But Gale grabs my hand gently and puts it behind his back to make it look like I'm leaning on it. No one seems to notice.

"If anyone saw what had happened, please let me know", Snow says. "You all can continue with your classes."

He walks off and everyone looks at each other.

"I don't like that guy, he gives me the creeps", I mutter to Gale. Everyone starts to get up.

"Katniss, what are you doing here?"

I turn around to see Madge behind me. I look at Gale who's smirking for some reason.

"Yeah Katniss, what are you doing here?" Gale acts naturally.

"Ha ha", I say. "Madge knows you were supposed to be with me in the woods."

Gale looks away annoyed and I say, "What were you doing at school so early?"

"Don't try to change the subject", Madge says.

"I'm not; just curious", I state.

Madge rolls her eyes and says, "Go home, I'll come see you after school."

"Gosh Madge, never knew you could be a mother", I say sarcastically. Madge tries not to grin and walks off.

"Shit", I say after she leaves.

"No one noticed my jaw at least", I say. Gale doesn't say anything; just starts to walk off.

"What now?" I ask him as I catch up to him.

"No more sneaking around", Gale says but then sighs and stops. "What if we get caught?"

"You mean, 'what if I get caught?'" I say. "I won't get caught."

Gale sighs and we start to walk.

"Woods?" I ask.

"Sure."

On the way, I can't help but ask, "So who do you like?"

Gale looks at me and says, "Why do you ask?"

"Curiosity", I answer looking away.

"Did someone say anything to you?" Gale asks his voice strong and serious.

"What do you mean?" I ask still not looking into his eyes.

He sighs and says, "I think you know what I'm talking about."

"Well, I just want to know if you really do like me myself. Don't truly believe anything that anyone says to me until I find out myself", I say.

We stop at the gate of the school. Gale lifts my chin so I'm looking at him. I finally stare into his grey eyes that are identical to mine. For the first time, I notice his perfect olive skin and black hair. He is handsome….

Our faces are only inches apart now. I don't really understand what happens next.

The next thing I know, I feel Gale's lips on mine. But I don't pull away. The kiss is nice but not as good as kissing Peeta…

I pull away not knowing what I was thinking. I look away ashamed of what had just happened. Peeta…

"Sorry", Gale says quietly. I shake my head in disagreement.

"It's my fault", I say.

We're silent just standing there until Gale says, "I should be getting home."

"Yeah me too", I say even though that is such a lie.

"Bye", Gale says awkwardly as he turns and leaves left. I go the opposite way and run back home. I got no idea what I was thinking.

What if Peeta finds out what I just did?

I arrive home and I knock on the door, "Mum?"

Soon the door opens and my mum is standing there.

"Hello, dear", she says.

…

School must've been over 15 minutes ago. I wait for Madge in the lounge room.

I'm about to ring her because she still hasn't arrived and I'm so impatient that I can't wait anymore. But there's a knock on the door.

I open the door and say, "Madge what took you so long? I was-

But then I realize it's not Madge; it's Peeta. The last person I wanted to see right now.

"I'm so sorry Katniss", Peeta says and pulls me into a hug.

But it just makes me guiltier; not relieved.

What I really wanted to announce was that I am currently rewriting my first fanfic, 'The Girl on Fire Will Never Stop Burning' because I feel it was too rushed. I have written a couple of chapters already but only have put the first one on fanfiction. I'll put the second one on as soon as I get a couple of follows, favs and reviews.
