Again, I done this on the same day another page of my comic was due. I've got to stop doing that; otherwise I'll get really stressed. Well, I don't think it'll be as bad as when I start school next year. I hope to have this story finished by then. That's why I'm doing 2 chapters a week.
Also, I've started another DP story, but it's M rated. So, if you want to read that one go ahead and follow it. I'm not sure how regularly I'll update that one because I'm still working on this one. We'll just have to wait and see.
Well anyways, let's get on with the Chapter. Enjoy Chapter 21 of Wrong Turns :)
DP Butch Hartman
The three girls examined the portal; they all knew that it was most definitely not the same portal as the one they used to come to the ghost zone.
"I think it's just another portal. But I'm not sure if it goes back to our dimension." Sam explained feeling a little unsure of the portal.
"Do you want to give it a try?' Jazz asked feeling slightly worried about the outcome of Maddie's decision.
Maddie looked down in serious thought, it was definitely a risk, but she wasn't sure whether she should take this risk or not. She didn't know the ghost zone very much and it could lead to some place else. There was also still the possibility that Danny could still be roaming the ghost zone, but wherever this portal leads to it might lead them to Danny. Eventually, Maddie lifted her head up in determination and revved the engine.
"It's a risk I'm worth taking."
Sam and Jazz buckled themselves in tightly as Maddie pressed on the pedal and accelerated towards the portal and then they disappeared through it.
There was a moment of pure green flashing before them before a bright light appeared which represented the other side of the portal. Maddie, Jazz and Sam were astonished to find on the other side, they couldn't believe their eyes.
As they flew across the sky, they saw small civilisations below; it seemed to look like Native Americans and their tents down below. Jazz was the first to realise what happened when they flew through the portal. She gasped in realization.
"We've not just gone to a different place, but a different time!"
Maddie immediately stopped the vehicle in mid air, it remained floating in the air as both Maddie and Sam took a moment to realise where they had gone.
"H-how...?" Maddie asked seeming almost speechless.
"I don't know, but I know for sure that we've gone through time." Jazz stated with certainty.
"Unless we're in the middle of the desert and these people haven't seen real clothes." Sam said in sarcasm.
Maddie then drove downwards to land; she landed behind a giant rock. She unbuckled and decided to grab a ghost weapon with her just in case of any harm. Meanwhile Sam looked up from where they came from and could not see the portal in which they came out of. She felt concerned, and kept it in mind the duration that they were in this place.
Jazz saw that Maddie was taking precautions about what was lurking outside, but felt hesitant that her mother bring weapons.
"Mum, you don't have to bring that many weapons."
"I'm just taking precautions, dear. You can never be too careful." Maddie assured her daughter.
Jazz looked down in thought, she felt hesitant because she had read about ancient Native American stories. But when she remembered the spiritual stories, she decided to take only one weapon with her. Sam had done the same and had only taken one weapon with her.
Maddie was the first to walk outside; the air was dry and dusty. The sand in the air made Maddie's eyes ache in pain with every tiny gravel of sand that came in contact with her eye. For protection, Maddie wiped her eyes and closed them halfway while covering them slightly with her hand. She told Jazz and Sam to do the same for the sake of their health.
Maddie peeked from behind the rock and saw the Native Americans in their small village; she could see tents and campfires almost everywhere. Many wild dogs were also around, and they seemed mildly threatening to them, but Maddie felt determined enough to see them from up close. Her main concern was if there were any ghosts around.
As Maddie began to walk towards the village, Jazz grabbed her arm in hesitance.
"Mum, we shouldn't interfere with them. It could affect the present time."
Maddie looked down in thought for a moment before responding. "You're right dear. But let's make sure there aren't any ghosts around here."
Jazz still felt that they shouldn't do anything, but she couldn't argue with her mother now, Maddie had run the opposite direction in which the village was situated.
"You two don't interfere either." She called out to her daughter and Sam before halting her running and grabbing out a device that could detect ectoplasm in the real world.
Maddie thought for a moment as she activated the ectoplasm detector. She then realised that it could work in the ghost zone to find Danny, but then she realised that the ghost zone reeked of ectoplasm so it would be almost impossible to locate Danny that way either. Maddie kept it in mind as she began to pick up traces of ectoplasm nearby.
"You can't hide from me ghost." Maddie said with pride holding her weapon up as she followed the direction of the ectoplasm.
Meanwhile, Jazz and Sam were observing the Native Americans from behind the giant rock; Jazz was more fascinated than Sam was. Jazz thought of going over there, but distorting the present was her main concern and what was blocking her from going over there and making contact with the Native Americans.
"I want to go over there."
"You just said to your mum-" Sam began to state before being cut off by Jazz.
"I know, but I have high curiosity to go over there and talk to them." Jazz exclaimed taking a closer look at the village.
Sam grabbed Jazz's arm and dragged her back into the specter speeder for their own safety.
"I think it's best that we stay in here until your mum gets back from hunting ghosts...if there are any." Sam ended with a shrug thinking about whether there were ghosts around here or not.
Jazz nodded in reply and then set down the ghost weapon she was carrying, she looked out the window of the door and looked up at the sky. She too began to think about the location of the portal that they went through minutes ago.
"Hey Sam, do you remember which way we came here?" She asked opening the door and then examining the sky.
Sam gave Jazz a confused look before realising what Jazz was talking about, she joined Jazz outside and began to look around the sky for the portal as well. She looked down briefly to see Maddie running sneakily around about fifteen feet away from them; Sam then looked up again with her hand as a small veranda for her eyes against the bright hot sun.
"I was wondering that earlier, I can't seem to find the portal anymore."
Jazz heart began to race as she began to think that they were stuck in this time period. She gasped as her mind instantly went with that assumption.
"Oh no..." Jazz stuttered while covering her mouth and expressing worry as she slowly backed away in doubt.
"What?" Sam asked, looking back at a worried Jazz.
"I...I think we're stuck here!" She cried.
Sam gasped in shock as well; she covered her mouth and then looked over to where Maddie was. She ran over to her to tell what she and Jazz had just discovered.
"Mrs Fenton!" Sam cried.
Maddie was still detecting traces of ectoplasm and was completely focused on finding any ghost in this area.
"Mrs Fenton!" Sam called again as she ran towards Maddie.
"Not now Sam, I'm detecting traces of ectoplasm around here, there could be ghosts around here."
Sam had finally caught up to Maddie, she panted before tugging at Maddie's arm. Maddie let go and grunted in an annoying tone not wanting Sam's attention at that very moment.
"I said-"
"We've got bad news." Sam stated with a worried expression.
Maddie looked towards the specter speeder and saw Jazz standing near the specter speeder, Maddie began to feel confused as she thought of what possibly could the bad news be.
"What bad news?" Maddie asked in a serious tone.
But before Sam could explain everything that was bad, Maddie's ectoplasm detector was picking up a huge amount of ectoplasm not far from the two of them. She forcefully let go of Sam and ran to where the detector was picking up the ectoplasm.
"That'll have to wait Sam, I think there's a ghost near here and I have to get rid of it."
"What is with the Fenton's? They get so paranoid that if a ghost isn't destroyed they'll just go crazy." Sam stated putting her hands on her hips and thinking about all the times that the Fenton family obsessed over ghosts, especially Jack.
Back in Amity Park, Danny had gone to the hospital in which Tucker was located at. He searched the room he was in but he wasn't there, but Danny began to feel confused as he saw Tucker's room completely cleaned out. None of Tucker's belongings were there.
"He must be back home already."
So Danny flew to Tucker's house, but unfortunately it was within the ghost shield, so Danny had to transform, but when he realised that Tucker's house was under the ghost shield, he sighed in relief but still went to go see him. He flew to the ground and transformed so he could pass through the shield without any harm.
Danny quickly ran to Tucker's house, on the way there he could see more people running towards the ghost shield away from the threatening ghosts. Danny knew that he had to help, but he desperately wanted to make sure the people he cared about the most were safe first.
"Tucker?" Danny called out as he approached Tucker's house. "Where are you?"
Danny hoped that Tucker was safe and sound, but he especially hoped that Sam was alright as well, because he cared about her more than anything.
There was no reply; Danny couldn't open the front door. So he went to plan b which was to check his house to see if everyone was there. But as he approached his house, he could see a giant crowd of people both outside and inside his house. He began to feel worried of ever finding the people he cared about so much.
Aw, will Danny be able to find them all soon? And what about Jazz, Sam and Maddie? Will they be able to get out of the place and time zone that they're in? I wonder if a certain ghost might be able to help with that. Well, you'll have to wait to find out what happens next. Next update should be on Friday or Saturday at the latest ;)
