Mercy

Disclaimer: I don't own Jake Long. If I did it probably wouldn't be preferred for kids.

A Bad Situation

If this were a play, it was perfect timing. 'Right on cue,' as her drama instructor would say.

Trixie was missing and Rose, while not caring too much for the loudmouth herself, felt the nasty pain of dread in the pit of her stomach. There was only explanation for the disappearance. And by looking at Jake's own face, she knew that he had the same thought…

Angel, somehow, found out who the American Dragon truly was.

While the shock of the pregnant mother's vanishing act was affecting the gang back at Rose's home, the female in question was facing her own dilemmas. Through the bars of her cage-like prison, she glared at the smirking redhead.

"You really are a conniving skank aren't you?" Trixie yelled.

Regina merely ran a hand through her hair. Her long red painted fingernails disappearing in her mass of blood colored locks. "You won't be talking after Eli and the Huntsmaster are done with you. When I'm in power and you're nothing more than a rotting corpse!" she laughed in her almost airhead way.

Despite her brave outer front, Trixie was a quivering wreck inside. Unconsciously, she held her stomach; if she died so did her baby. She knew that Jake's ex-wife was cruel when she wanted to be, she knew how evil Pandarus was… and she could only imagine what the Huntsmaster was like as she remembered the threat Rose's uncle was.

And she still wasn't entirely sure that Rose wasn't still evil.

As the worrying mother sat in her small cell in Pandarus' latest dungeon, the black hearted beauty adjacent to her was lost in her own, rather dim, thoughts. She looked up when she heard the steps of the two men walking down the stairs, to her great relief, of course, as she was so bored sitting there all alone in such a dank place with only the big mouthed hostage for company.

Pandarus smiled at her for a brief moment. It was a rare thing when she managed to please him and bringing him to the American Dragon's best, currently most vulnerable, friend had made him quite pleased with her. And that was how she liked him.

She looked at the Huntsmaster. His face currently stoic, but oh was he a gorgeous specimen of a man. But he hadn't the power her Eli had and only Eli could give her what she desired. So she couldn't afford to impose her female appeal on him.

Still… a girl could daydream.

--

Only a few hours ago she had been taking a nap on her comfy sofa while re-runs of Tom and Jerry played on the television. Spud was at work, Caleb was at T's house and Shaniqua was with her grandmother… it was peaceful.

Then she woke up to a pair of arms wrapping around her, covering her mouth and then a cloud of smoke surrounded herself and her captors. She should have realized then that Pandarus was behind it… with his silly theatrics.

But it hadn't occurred to her in the midst of possibly the most frightening event in her life—or at least in a long time—that she'd been kidnapped by the warlock. The only thing that registered in her mind was that she was suddenly in a dank dungeon-like room and was being shoved into a cage.

And only then she saw her captors. Pandarus and some other man—later to be known as the Huntsmaster—but the third was the one she hadn't expected. Regina.

Now she sat in her cage thinking about her future. It wouldn't be long until Jake found out where she was and came to rescue her, she was sure.

The Huntsmaster walked over to her cell and spoke to her, "When the dragon arrives with the child you will be let go. Leave and don't try to do anything or I will kill you too."

Had this happened a few years ago, Trixie would have given him a piece of her mind regardless of the consequences. But now she was oh too aware of them. She just stared at him with wide eyes. She was afraid. She knew that they wouldn't kill her… at least not until Jake showed up. But still… could she let them attack him and do nothing?

She could only hope that Rose wouldn't abandon him the last minute. She could only hope that Spud would stay home with the children. She could only hope her family would be safe and her friend would live… and that Mercy stay out of Pandarus' or the Huntsmaster's grasp.

The Huntsmaster said nothing more to her. He walked out of the dungeon, Pandarus right behind him, leaving the women alone with no one but the other for company. The baby kicked and tears weld up in her eyes.

She could only hope that Jake would hurry and come rescue her… soon.

This is pretty much just a filler chapter; the next one will be more thrilling… and longer. Yay fighting! Please review.

Peace,
