Chapter 21 – I know It will Be Fine

It had been exactly one year since Barry had gone to live with Lofty but it seemed so much longer. He was a lot happier and didn't act up as much as he used to though he is Barry Barry so he wasn't perfect. He still had his moments but he had improved so much in behaviour and schoolwork.

"Barry well done you got another A" Miss McFall said with a smile as she handed out the latest essays the class had wrote.

"Oh wow dad will be pleased" Barry smiled

Dad. He always called Lofty that now, he had just started calling him it one day and then he found himself calling him it all the time, Lofty liked it anyway and called Barry his son. Barry realised that been blood related to someone is nothing, it's who loves you and cares for you that matter even if they aren't blood related.

After school Barry walked to the front door of the white house he knew so well and knocked, his mum opened the door and smiled before hugging him. Barry and Carol had started seeing each other again, she was divorcing their dad and she understood he was settled with Lofty.

"Come in the girls want to see you" Carol smiled as she stepped aside letting her son in. Barry walked into the living room where they both his sisters were sat watching TV. They jumped up and hugged and kissed the cheek of their brother.

"Mum Barry got an A today" Kacey laughed as he threw a pillow at her

"You leave your brother alone he is doing well" Carol laughed at her kids

Barry later returned home and hugged Lofty as he asked how it had gone at his mums. Barry told him about it as Lofty handed him a coffee the way he liked it, one sugar and milk.

"You know people often ask me if it's weird having a biological mum and adoptive dad" Barry said as he stirred his coffee with his spoon

"Well is it?" replied Lofty

"It is weird...but then again weird isn't bad, no family is normal if you think about it mine is just a bit more unusual than others but I am fine with that"

Barry hugged Lofty with a smile and he knew everything would be okay. If there was a problem he had Lofty there to help him and he would make sure he was always happy.

"I love you Barry"

"I love you too dad"
