Chapter 21:

Told in the form of a Flashback

"Renee! Renee-! I mean Mother, look! Tom shouted. He had been cooped up in the room all day, with binoculars glued to his face. They were a special night vision type of binoculars so that he could se in the dark. Renee had bought him a pair after he had finished reading the book, Science Fiction and Experiments to do in the dark. He was scanning the streets, forest, and scenery outside his bedroom window, when he had finally found something useful. "Tom dear, you know Phil has a game to go to in the morning! He needs his rest." Renee fretted, and came bustling into the room in her night things.

Tom sighed, visibly annoyed. "Of course, Mother, but I just wanted to show you this excellent creature outside my window, glittering for the whole world to see itself. Look." Tom finished bluntly, and pointed outside his window. Renee sighed, and then moved towards the large bay window of Tom's room. She peeked out, and upon seeing nothing, sighed.

"Tom Marvolo Riddle I don't see a thing-!"

"You need these Mother," Tom sighed, and pushed the binoculars towards her. She lifted the binoculars slowly to her face, and looked outside the window. "Tommy, I don't see anything-!" She froze, and then pressed them harder to her face.

"Phil!" Renee screamed hysterically, and Tom jumped back. "Phil get in her right now! There's something outside our window! Hurry!" Renee screamed, and threw the binoculars down on the desk. She picked Tom up, wrapping his legs around her waist, and came barreling to the other side of the bed, as if to put a barrier in between them and the monster.

"Renee, Tom? What's going on? What is it?" Phil asked, and came running in with an aluminum baseball bat.

"Look! You have to see it with the binoculars. There's a giant bird outside Tom's window!" She screamed, and Phil chuckled.

"Oh, okay. Well in that case, lets get a little peek at this giant bird." He said, chuckling. He strolled over to the window, looking outside. "Yeah, I don't see anything Renee." He said, looking around. She growled.

"Did you hear me before clearly Phil? You need to use the binoculars to see it. Its too dark outside to see without it. It looks like a dinosaur." She glared.

"Okay, fine, I'll use Tom's toy." Phil chuckled, and raised the binoculars to his face.

"Alright, now what do you see?" Renee asked, holding Tom tighter to her chest, who twisted around to see Phil's reaction.

"Alright, well theirs definitely something there in the bushes. Its moving them around like crazy. Renee, Tom, there's nothing to worry about. I bet it's a deer, or bunny-!"

"It had claws!" Tom shouted, and Renee shushed him, as if the monster could hear them suddenly and come crashing in.

"Yes Phil. And it was huge. Like a giant lizard. But it stood on two feet." She whined, making Phil sigh.

"You know what, lets settle this right now." He said, and clutching the bat tight, he ran out of the room and walked down the stairs. She placed Tom back on his bed, hissing at him fearfully. "He doesn't believe us. Tom stay here, I have to stop him before he gets eaten." She said, and ran out into the hall after Phil. Tom counted to five slowly, and then declaring it safe, ran out of the room and down the hall after the two of them. By the time he reached the top of the grand wooden steps, Renee was at the bottom, breathing hysterically.

"Phil! You come back here right now! You and I both know that there's something out there. Now come back!" She glared harshly, fear coursing through her.

"Renee, its fine. I promise you. It'll be easier if I could just get a closer look." He said, and she growled. "Phil, remember the horror movies Tom watches? You know the stupid people we laugh at and joke about who go exploring the strange noise outside? And then they get killed? Well I think this is one of those moments." Renee said, and Tom silently nodded. When the both of them reached the door, they were arguing slightly on whether or not to open the door.

Tom was about to make his presence known, when the telephone on the wall started ringing. With a sigh, he started walking towards the wall phone. He looked at the caller I.D on the phone screen, and he groaned. "No Charlie again." He groaned, rolling his large brown eyes.

"Hello Charlie." Tom said in his best polite voice, as if directing a stranger. And he could already hear Charlie Swans smile on the phone. "Hey Tom, were you sleeping? I hope I wasn't waking you or anything." Charlie said, but Tom tsked Charlie. "Of course I wasn't sleeping Charlie, I was just watching cartoons with Bell... With Renee." Tom corrected himself, pinching his arm as he talked. It wouldn't be the first time he had talked about Bella. It was hard to believe she was gone.

"Oh," Charlie said, throwing a fake cheery tone in his voice. Tom knew at once he hadn't missed the Bella part. "So Tom, what are Phil and Renee doing that's so important that your not in bed?" Charlie asked, and Tom inwardly rolled his eyes.

"They're looking for the dinosaur outside. I saw one though the binoculars outside. And now their arguing on whether to stay inside, or for Phil to be the dumb hero and hit it with a bat." Tom joked, and Charlie laughed aloud.

"Tom, what kind of animal is it?" Charlie asked curiously, and Tom frowned.

"No idea. But its really big, so that's why their arguing. Renee and I saw giant claws on the bird, but Phil could only see the bush moving around." Tom explained, and Charlie nodded.

"Okay then. Hey Tom, how about you come down to Forks next week? Jacob's been wanting to see you for a while you know." Charlie said, and Tom frowned. Charlie kept pushing Tom and Jacob together as friends. Jacob was glad to be friends, but Tom knew that if he had to admit it, he was too scared of Jacob to tell him to bug off and die in a whole, just like he would anyone else.

"Ugh… Well… I'm not sure Charlie. I've got a book report and homework to do here-!"

"You can do it in Forks!"

"Plus I've got some volunteer work at Gringotts. The Wizarding Bank-!"

"Just tell them your busy. I'm sure they'll understand."

"Plus Renee's taking me to a friend of a friends wedding this week."

"Well you can come after the wedding! Its that simple. I'll arrange it with Renee." Charlie said, and Tom inaudibly groaned.

"Fine, goodbye Charlie." Tom said, ready to hang up the phone.

"Alright, see ya Tom." Click!"

Tom turned around, his eyes wide as he dropped the phone. "I told you!" Renee screamed at Phil, who was throwing all his weight against the door. A dinosaur, on the other end, was screeching and screaming, clawing through the door.

"I can't believe it! It's a Velociraptor!" Phil screamed, and Tom ran forward to help them shut the door.

"No. Get back! Tommy call the police!" Renee screamed, her hair flying wildly as she pressed harder against the door.

"Tom, were there any other experiments you tried in that magical book I begged Renee not to get you?" Phil yelled, throwing a glare Renee's way. Tom nodded, and moved towards the phone again.

"Yes, in fact, I believe I must have accidentally tore open a portal in time very briefly, allowing an animal from the Cretaceous Period to cross over into our time. Its actually quite interesting!"

"Ahh!"

"Hmm," Bella murmered, and rubbed her glittery hand against her chin thoughtfully. "That seems like a pretty far fetched story Tom." Bella said to the thirty two year old Tom, who laughed lightly. He had just finished telling her the story of the time he almost got his step father eaten by a dinosaur.

"Well it happened. I swear to you it did. I swear to you on all of my Horcruxes. I promise." Tom said, shrugging when Bella raised an eyebrow at her.

"Really? Your always telling about these so called Horcruxes, but you've never explained what about them actually. What are they, and why can't I have them?" She asked, a plump glare on her face.

"Well, you don't really need them you know. Not anymore, now that you're a…" He drifted off, gesturing to her. She nodded.

"You know, that was pretty crummy of you! To just sell me out like that. You didn't even ask me if I wanted to become a Blood sucker!" She glared, and there was a sharp pang deep in her throat. Without thinking, she grabbed the butterfly styled baby bottle she had bought at the department store, and raised it to her lips. Tom scrunched up his nose as she started sucking out of the bottle, filled with a sloshing red liquid. Blood.

"Well, it is pretty awesome being a vampire, isn't it? I mean seriously. You've got umlimited life expectancy, supreme strength, your pretty much living the average teenager's dream! Your skin is hard as diamonds, and just as shiny!"

"Yeah, well while it may give me looks, I hate how whenever I walk into the sun, I end up a sparkling like a cosplay fairy that instead of glittering up her wings, she chose to take a bath in diamonds. I mean seriously, look at this." Bella protested, and ripped the bottle out of her mouth. She lifted her hand up so it could hit the small whistle of sunlight streaming through the window. Her sinewy and pale white skin glittered as if she had indeed took a bath in thousands of diamonds, and they were glittering in her skin as if they had rubbed off on her.

"Look at you. Your amazing." Tom commented, and she lifted the bottle to her lips again, and let her eyes drift to the mirror in the back room.

She saw herself and Tom, sitting cross legged on the floor. She was dressed in a black pair of shirts with a matching t-shirt. Her hair was long and black, shimmering down to her waist. It would never grow again. She thought to herself, sighing. Over the billions of years she would probably live, her hair, if it were to be cut or snagged, it would never grow again. She could have it all chopped off, and be stuck with that style forever. But…It's best not to think of it too much.

Her skin was pale, the color of shiny chalk. Her beauty was now abnormally beauty, not normal anymore. Her eyes were no longer brown. Her eyes were now a thick, bloody red. Redder then Tom's.

"Tom. I just wish you would have asked me." She glared, and he sighed.

"You know what, I'm sorry. I should have asked. Lets just go get Lucius so he can drop you off at Hogwarts." He sighed, and Bella jumped up.

"You know what fine." She glared, and started sucking the bottle again.

"All your things packed?" Tom asked, and Bella nodded.

"Yes."

"Do you hall all your clothes?"

"Definitly."

"How about your books?"

"Of course."

"All your blood packs?"

"Couldn't do without em."

"How about your drinking bottles?"

"Yes. Yes. And yes!"
