Move Along

Chapter 21

These past six months have been crazy! Kaitlin is growing so fast. She's crawling and sitting up and babbles all the time. She's also teething, which isn't fun, but it's gotten better since Edward bought her an amber teething necklace.

"I heard these were great. Three of the nurses swear by them." He smiled at me.

"Thank you. That's so sweet." I gave him a hug and kiss on the cheek.

And that's how things have been between us these last six months. Whenever I've needed him, he's been there and his parents have been there for me too.

I was working part-time as a freelance writer, it wasn't much but it helped buy the extras.

My parents have been great as well, they come over twice a month and help out with things and Riley is the best uncle anyone could ask for. He helps me when she wakes up at night and he loves giving her baths.

"Bella, do you think my mom could watch Kaitlin for a little while Wednesday night?" Edward asked.

"Yeah, if she'd like to. Why?" I asked.

"I'd like to take you out. Just the two of us, for a few hours." Edward smiled.

"Oh. Ok. What time?" I asked.

"I was thinking around 6:00pm, that's when Kaitlin goes down, right?" Edward guessed.

"Yeah. Usually." I replied.

"Well, my mom can come over here if it's easier or we can take her there, which ever you're comfortable with." Edward shrugged.

"Ask your mom, I'm fine with either. I can take the pack n play for her to sleep in." I smiled.

"OK, I've got to go over there before work anyway, she's got something for me. I'll ask her then and then I'll call you tonight, is that OK?" he asked.

"Yeah, sounds good." He leaned down and placed a chaste kiss on my lips.

"I'll call you tonight beautiful." He smiled as he walked out the door.

I was just putting Kaitlin down for the night as the phone rang.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Bella?" the voice asked.

"Jasper? Why are you calling me? You're not supposed to have any contact with me! I have nothing to say to you!" I tried to hang up when he said something that chilled me to the bone.

"I know you're in the nursery and alone. And I know you're planning on going out with Cullen too. I saw him kiss you!" he shouted.

"Look, you gave up your right to have any say in my life, leave me alone!" I tried to stay strong and calm.

"Oh, but I do still care for you! You'll always be mine, but I could care less about that abomination you call a child. I love you Bella and you will be mine." He hung up with a menacing laugh.

I called my dad first and then Riley. "Bells, are you alone?" Riley asked.

"Yeah." My voice was shaky.

"I'm on my way there. Stay in Kaitlin's room. Lock the door and wait for me." Riley said in a tight voice.

"Bella?" I heard Riley yelling my name.

"We're in Kaitlin's room." I shouted, my voice not as strong as I'd like it.

Riley jimmied the door open and ran to check on us.

"Are you 2 OK?" he asked.

"Yes, but Jasper was very strange." I explained everything to him and then he made a call to dad.

"Bella, dad said that he's sending over his own personal friend to check out the house. He believes that he's bugged and wire tapped the house. He also thinks they're video cameras in here." Riley added.

"What? How and the hell did he get in to do that?!" Rose yelled.

"We don't know Rose. He's crafty, he's a trained killer, we all know it, and we just didn't want to admit it." Riley sighed.

"I just want him put away. I want to move on." I shook my head.

"Bella? Bella?" I heard Edward yell.

"We're in Kaitlin's room." Riley shouted.

Edward came running in, a look of pure horror on his face. "Are you 2 OK?" he asked in a rushed breath.

"Yes, yes we're fine, just shook up." I smiled weakly.

"Good. I don't know what I'd do if I lost you again." He hugged us both.

Somehow Jasper got bail.

There was another restraining order for him and my dad hired a bodyguard for me, saying that he knew Jasper was unstable and wasn't taking any chances.

He also put a call in to Jasper's CO and he assured my dad that Jasper wouldn't be a problem.

They'd take care of him the 'proper' way, he'd never forget.
