CHAPTER 21: 3RD GENERATION FREAK

(Warning: This chapter is entirely dedicated to the OC)

NEW YORK, MANHATTAN

There was a part of New York in which people hardly go to, a place where you can have a cup of coffee without being surrounded by numerous people bumping into you. The street even became more deserted since most of the exits and entrances towards it were blocked off, mostly because there were damages still lining up all around it.

Percy was riding behind Clint on the motorcycle. It sped easily through New York. The Avengers couldn't have made it more obvious that they were going into battle, with Captain America in full uniform, and Hawkeye with his line of bows.

Percy wondered what the people thought he was, speeding behind with one of the Avengers in a blue hoodie. He actually hoped his manipulation with the mist was working, because he couldn't have the people think "What is that kid doing with the Avengers? Quick grab a photo!"

His question was answered when he heard someone yell out, "Nice cape, Hawkeye!"

"You couldn't turn yourself into a backpack, or my sack of arrows, could you?" Hawkeye said through his helmet.

Percy, who was given a helmet, with a blue tooth, or comm link, or whatever it was called, heard it loud and clear. "Sorry, I'm not that good at it."

"Yeah, I could tell." He replied. He brought up the cycle next to the Captain, who wore nothing but the helmet of his uniform. "You alright, Rogers?" Clint asked.

Percy took a glance at Steve. He definitely did not look alright, in fact he looked pale. Well, paler if you could ask him, and it didn't seem like it was because of the evening wind either. Instead, he kept his eyes trained in front of him, his jaw set tightly, and his knuckles turning white from holding the handle bars.

"Cap?" Clint repeated.

"The sightings were around her address." He finally said.

Confused, Clint sped up until they were basically next to one another. "Wait, what? Who is?"

Steve looked at him, his full of fear and anxiety. "We are nearing Peggy's home."

Before Percy could ask who she was, he saw a flash of lightning cross the skies. He didn't notice the dark rolling clouds hanging above them until that moment.

He watched in total shock as a streak of lightning flared down towards the ground, lighting the streets and creating a crater on the pathway. Percy looked closely to what the god of thunder had hit, and his eyes widened in alarm.

"What are those things?" Clint asked Percy.

From what lay before them a few blocks away was a swarm of birds, flying around in circles like flies do around food.

" Stymphalian birds!" Percy yelled over the noise.

The two vehicles rolled to a stop, far enough that the creatures didn't spot then, but close enough to see them. They watched in both awe and amazement at the flock.

"Stay clear from their feathers." Percy explained, getting off the bike and removing his helmet. He had to shake his hair free from helmets head. "Their beaks won't harm you."

He watched as another bolt of lightning came down. The birds separated themselves from one another, and then flew away. Percy remembered the first time he had dealt with them. The birds had come through the barriers of the camp, and disrupted their chariot race, attacking him and Clarisse. He then came across them again when Clarisse's brothers left them to annoy her.

"How do you defeat them?" Captain asked, taking his shield from his cycle and looking upwards at them.

Thor was nowhere to be seen, but it was obvious that he was the one controlling the lightning. However every time a bolt came down to strike the birds, they simply moved away and went back together, swarming above.

Percy then watched in terror as one by one, the birds started to descend downward. He followed their trail to the ground, and with it he saw another figure, fending them and another hoard of monsters off.

"Someone's over there, fighting them!" Percy exclaimed, running towards where the figure was.

He heard the Captain and Clint yelling at him to wait or stop, but he drowned them out, his eyes only focusing on the figure fighting alone.

With a battle cry, Percy released his sword into full form, and then slashed downward to the nearest monster that he saw. He quickly assessed the situation: There were the birds hovering over them, picking at any vulnerability they could find. Some hellhounds, one in which Percy killed, hung loose near the alley ways, watching and waiting to strike. Thankfully there were only a few, dracaena, but even with that notice it was still very disturbing that they would come to a place like this. They reminded him too much of that Lamia, with their twin serpent legs instead of normal feet. Or as normal as monsters have their feet.

The battle cry that Percy had let must have alarmed the figure, because she turned out of reflex, a samurai sword glinting with the tint of celestial bronze, he noted, in one hand.

Percy had to recoil at the surprise. He knew this person.

"Melissa?" He exclaimed aloud.

Melissa's face changed. She seemed to pale a little bit more from the sight of Percy, her sword arm almost dropping. Percy studied her for a moment in complete surprise, questions forming in his head but not coming from his mouth.

"Look out!" She yelled, ducking as a bird came swooping over Percy's head.

Percy rolled over to the side, bringing his sword up and slashing when he found himself kneeling next to a dracaena. When she screeched and then turned to dust, a hellhound was about to pounce through it to him. He was about to parry, using his sword, but he heard a shrill sound from behind him.

Melissa had thrown what seemed to be a dagger towards the hellhound. Connected to the dagger was a thin black wire. Surprisingly, as soon as the dagger had made contact with the hellhound, black sparks of electricity flew towards it, electrocuting the beast until it fell dead before him. Percy felt a sudden weight on his back as Melissa used him as leverage to project herself forward, stabbing yet another beast before her.

Percy was, at the moment, astonished with her speed and quick thinking. He watched as she ducked the birds, parried the dracaena, and maneuvered herself away from the hellhounds.

"Melissa, what are you doing here?" He yelled through the battle. "Why are these monsters attacking you?"

She slashed her sword at the nearest Hellhound. "Just concentrate on killing these guys, Jackson." She growled back.

Before either could make another move, something gold bounced off four of the monsters, knocking them down and having them explode before they even touched the ground. They followed the golden streak back to its owner, where Captain America fixed it back on his arm.

"Hey," Captain said to Percy with accusation written on his face. "Don't go charging in without telling us first."

"Sorry." Percy said a little exasperated. "I was kinda worried about my classmate fighting the monsters all by herself."

When Steve finally had a good look at Melissa, he too made the same face she had when seeing Percy. If she were surprised seeing Steve, she didn't show it. Her face was contorted with concentration, though she did scowl at him to keep fighting.

"Percy Jacksssson." Hissed one of the dracaena. "We were wondering what took you ssssso long. Your friend here issss quiet the entertainer." She looked at Melissa, struggling to block the attacks. Her movements looking more tired. "Lord Loki will be pleasssed. Oh yesss, he will."

"You really can't do anything without having someone control your every move." Percy returned, readying himself against her. "Where is your leader now?"

"Whether he issss here nor not." She said. "What matterssss isss that you and your Avenger friendsss are here insssstead."

And with that, she attacked. Percy quickly ducked and rolled, her sword inches from where he'd just been. Before he could counter attack, a bird flew in front of him. And he was forced to retreat, the dracaena fading behind the swarm of monsters, until it seemed like there was a line just to face her.

The monsters seemed never ending. Captain America was making good use of his shield, the small spikes made of the celestial bronze helped too, since he was unaffected by them, he could throw and catch it without his hand being impaled.

Thor landed somewhere nearby, his hammer swinging left to right, bringing monsters to the ground and swinging them towards cars and houses.

The birds were becoming a nuisance, always getting in his way whenever Steve or Percy tried to attack. Steve used his shield to cover himself whenever they fired a jet of their feathers towards them, and they would fly in front of them, blocking their view, and mostly just getting in the way.

Captain hit a hellhound in the nose, "We need these birds to turn tail and fly away." He said when he got close enough to Percy.

"I'm working on it." Percy said, parrying a dracaena. She had arrows sticking out from chinks of her armor. Clint was somewhere on the roofs, firing at anything that tried sneaking up to them.

"This is kinda fun." Clint's voice said through the comm. "Everything is just blowing up." He said this as he proceeded to hit a dracaena in the head, and happily watch as she disintegrated.

"Yeah, just don't hit me." Percy returned a parry. "Unfortunately I don't blow up."

"That's too bad." He replied. "That fire hydrant on your right might."

Percy looked towards his right, and saw the red fire hydrant. He concentrated on the red object, bringing his hands forward and thrusting them upward. The hydrant shook violently against the ground, and then with a large KABOOM! The hydrant exploded high into the air, a geyser of water sprouting. Percy directed the water to the remaining monsters ahead of him, and they all sputtered and slipped on the ground. One fell flat on their face, her legs coming up and then slithering down, she almost looked like an octopus with two legs trying to stand back up. It would have been funny if a bird didn't push against him. He stumbled, losing his concentration on the geyser for a second.

Percy felt chill run down his spine. Out of reflex, he ducked and heard a WOOSH come over his head. When he stood, he saw the familiar black wire which Melissa used. The dagger connected to it hit a car window, shattering it into tiny pieces. Instantly the car alarm went off, integrating itself with the rest of the car alarms which had gone off since the fight.

"You could have killed me!" Percy said to her.

She scoffed. "Says the guy with the Achilles heel." She said back. She used her elbow and smashed another car window, the alarm blaring loudly. After that, she ran and killed more monsters.

At that moment, Percy's realization came through. The birds were attacking less and less, he noted. And that was because the noise from the car alarms were making them disoriented. The last time Percy dealt with the birds, they had to use speakers and Chiron's music to confuse them, and the Apollo cabin just shot them down. The birds were flying around more unorganized. With that in mind, he ran and jumped on top of a hood of the car. He then jumped on a second, and then a third. The monsters ran after him, hitting and denting the cars beneath him. The alarms went off, making it so loud he could hardly hear the growling monsters.

The birds started to separate themselves from one another.

"Hawkeye!" He yelled through his ear piece. "The birds are confused now. Shoot them down!"

Even the Apollo cabin would have envied the quick draw of Hawkeye's arrows. He aimed, and shot three birds with one arrow, sometimes aiming four arrows and hitting twelve in total. Not only that, the golden streak glinted from the air, raining down and not only hitting the birds, but finding themselves towards the remaining monsters on the ground.

Captain helped. He threw his shield at the confused birds as they scattered. The two worked well together. Cap held his shield towards Thor, who used his hammer and hit the shield. The sound vibrated loudly against the pavement. The monsters shook and fell because of the vibration. Even some of the birds dropped and laid still, twitching but at least not flying. The Captain then threw the shield into a wild arc, leaving a trail of dust behind as the birds disintegrated.

Percy and Melissa concentrated on the ground work. With the remaining monsters, he used the water to have them fall off balance, sometimes even managed to get them to accidentally attack one another. Out of the corner of his eye, Percy swore he thought he saw a vine swiping a group of monsters into what he considered, 'the world's most dangerous Slip 'n Slide'.

"They're retreating!" Melissa gasped, as she swung and missed the sword of a dracaena.

The dracaena in which spoken to Percy earlier was still alive, surpringingly. She was drenched, with arrows sticking out from the chinks of her armor, and her arm bleeding and dripping to the ground. "It doesss not matter." She hissed. "We are finished here." She and the other monsters retreated, painfully and quickly. She left with that last smirk on her face, and then painfully slithered away.

Normally, Percy would have went on attacking, but he's seen the face of battle and knew when to respect a retreat.

"Well," Melissa said. "That was fun."

Melissa looked absolutely drained of energy. Her face was pale, her feet swaying on the ground like she was doing everything to not fall. She held her hand up to her arm, where blood was dripping down from her left hand.

"Melissa," Percy started, his breathing labored and head exploding from the questions. "What are y—"

The next thing he knew, Melissa moved with sudden and great speed. He didn't even have time to react until her hand covered his face, and she shoved him against the side of the building. Before he even took another breath of air, his vision went blurry and he found his knees crumpling to the ground. Dark oblivion followed next.

(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)

"What the hell did you do to him?" Captain America demanded as bent down and checked Percy.

Melissa wheezed heavily, clutching her arm as blood spilled down in droplets down her fingers and to the ground. "Relax, he's just sleeping." She said, clearly in pain. She leaned against the other side of the building, grunting at the effort.

Her gaze traveled to Thor, anger flashing in them. "Why did you bring him here?" She growled.

"There was no other option, Nagiisa." Thor tried to answer calmly.

She said. "What part of 'no demigods' did you and your father not understand? Did it not occur to you that if I was in danger, you shouldn't bring the demigod?"

"Well you were in danger, Nagiisa." Thor replied evenly, "It wasn't that I was just worried of the Tesseract, your safety was also important."

"Then you're a fool, Odinson."

Steve Rogers stood up from his crouched position. "Enough!" He shouted. "What I want to know is why you gave a kid the most dangerous object known to man." He said to Thor, accusingly. "And why in heavens name you gave it to the girl who is caring for Peggy?"

Clint took the time to finally help himself down the roof and join the group. He wasn't sure what was going on, or who the girl bleeding before them was, but he understood how to incorporate himself into a situation.

"It doesn't matter anymore." The girl said, her words crossed with pain. "Loki already got what he needed. Your Tesseract can just go back to being the atomic bomb by name."

"Wait." Clint said, looking at her with surprise. "Didn't they take the cube?"

She shook her head. "You got here a few minutes too late. They just pointed the scepter at the cube and the crystal in the middle turned blue. After that, they just left." She gave a dry smile, "Nice parting gift they left me though, right?"

Clint looked at Captain America. "I'm going to contact Nat and the others, tell them what's going on."

At that moment, Melissa fell completely to her knees, gasping at the pain as the dizziness was trying to take a hold on her, and black out.

"Priorities first." Clint said, looking at her and then helping her up. "Come on, I'll help dress that wound up." He said to her.

She grunted in discomfort. "Well, contact your friends away from here then." She said. "I don't need any leftover monsters to come by."

Demigods and electronics. He thought amusingly. I forgot—his thought came up short. "Hold up a sec." He looked at her. "Are you a demigod?"

She made a sound that sounded like "Uh-duh." Before she completely passed out in his arms.

"Woah, okay." He said, catching her before she completely hit the ground. "These demigod kids really need to stop fainting in front of us."

"Let's go to the house across the street." Steve said, picking up Jackson. He then glared at Thor. "And then you start talking."

They went inside the small house; Steve recognized the curtains at first glance. The living room area was nearly a mess. A painting was thrown down on the ground; a safety deposit box was blasted in the center, leaving a gaping hole. However, inside that hole was yet another safety box, also blasted away. Steve saw the faint glow of the cube emitting towards him.

The cube, he wondered. He hadn't seen the damn thing for a long time.

He went to what he considered a spare bedroom, and gently laid Jackson on the bed. The kid really was sleeping. Drool and all were coming from that mouth of his.

When he returned to the living, he found Clint lying Melissa on the couch. He started to cut through her clothes to see how deep the wound on her shoulder went, before applying first aide medical attention. Thor was observing the cube from a distance, as if not wanting to touch the thing.

"You," He pointed at Thor. "Explain yourself."

Thor turned to face him, sighing. He looked at Melissa's still form before saying, "When my father found out Loki's plan to return his powers, he needed me to return to your world. Unfortunately, the gates between our world and yours were still being fixed after I destroyed it, so the Tesseract was the logical choice. Yet, I still did not trust the SHIELD corporations after I had found out they were trying to make weapons from it. So I gave it to Nagiisa." He looked at her.

"Why do you keep calling her that?"

"Nagiisa?" Thor looked a little confused. "That's the name she had given us. I'm guessing her more human side is what you call 'Melissa Tandron'. We found her in her dreams, we learned of her wants and fears." He shook his head. "Sadly we used those feelings of her to do what we wanted, but we were desperate. I did not know she was caring for your woman at the time."

"Yeah, but what is she?" He stressed.

Thor opened his mouth to respond until Melissa made a noise of discomfort. "You're really going to tell them my life story, aren't you?" She grumbled. Her eyes flew opened, and she tried to sit up, to no avail. Clint was trying to push her back down.

"Hey, calm down, kid." He assured her. "You were passed out seconds ago."

"Yeah, well." She pushed his hand away. "I could sense the presence of needles anywhere."

Clint, who was holding a needle, looked at it and then at her. "You're afraid of needles?" He chuckled. "You just dealt with two serpent legged monsters and dogs from hell."

"Well needles are different, okay?" She tried to rearrange her clothes, but they kept falling off. "You could stick them in certain places of the body, and you can't feel them. It's creepy."

"It's acupuncture." Clint said. "Look, you're going to get a very bad scar if I don't sew that up. No more bikini days for you."

Melissa thought for a moment, and then finally complied, though reluctantly. "It's not because of bikinis." She muttered to herself.

She had to shut her eyes tightly when the needle finally penetrated her skin.

"Relax." He said.

"Kinda hard to do with a needle being poked into my body." She grounded out through her teeth.

Steve flipped an overturn chair and sat on it, his eyes piercing Melissa. "You could get your mind off it by telling us who you really are." He demanded.

She scoffed. "Give me one good reason to tell you." She retorted. "Because saving my life against vicious monsters, still gives you no right to know my life story."

"Well what about the guy who's sewing you back up, does that count as something?" Clint threatened… lightly though.

"Nagiisa." Thor interjected. "Perhaps it would be wise to clarify the reasons to why I chose you for the guardian of the Tesseract, and your relations to Percy Jackson."

"My relations too –" She had to stop herself as if she remembered she was being sewed back up.

Steve folded his hands together. "Tell me because of Peggy."

"Ms. Peggy?" She sounded surprised. "I'm not around her enough to put her in any danger."

"Yes." Steve got up and started to pace. "But today was a close call, don't you think, Nagiisa?" He stressed out her name. "Where is she anyway?"

"She's with Naguit at the club." She pouted, seeming to feel defeated. "And before you ask who Naguit is, she's my double. We played with the mist to make her look a little like me so Ms. Peggy can hardly tell the difference."

Steve didn't seem to hear the last part of her sentence. "What club?"

"She goes to this little old club every Saturday during the summer." She said. "Whenever she comes to the States."

A club? Steve thought, and then at that moment the memory hit him like a train wreck as the memories of his last conversation with Peggy replayed in his head:

"I'm going to need a rain check on that dance." He said.

"All right." She replied. He could hear her voice starting to shake. "A week next Saturday at the Stork Club."

"You got it." He reassured a little strongly. He could already imagine himself arriving there, but starring out into that frozen emptiness was just giving him a false hope.

"Eight O'clock, on the dot. Don't you dare be late."

His heart beat against his chest. She was still waiting for him, and sadly he's a few years too late.

"Is she there now?" He asked a little hopeful.

Melissa looked at the time. "No, she'd be at the doctors by now." She looked out through the window thoughtfully. "You'd never understand me anyway." She said. "No one ever does."

Steve relaxed in his chair a bit more, seeming to understand that perhaps Melissa did have a reason after all. "What do you mean by that?" He asked her.

She looked at him. "Do you know how it feels like to be totally alone?" She asked him. "There are people out there who try to care for me, but to do so would put them in danger."

Steve would have said more, but Melissa's knuckles were turning white with the way she was holding onto the cushions. He tried asking more, but her answers were very curt and short. She looked anywhere but at the needle, trying to take her mind off of anything else. With a sigh, Steve went to the kitchen and downed some water into his system, and then returned to give some to Melissa.

Clint cut the thread and started to bandage her wound in silence. Thor was still staring at the cube curiously.

"Tell me." Steve finally said, a little bit more calmly than before.

Melissa sighed painfully. All fight gone from her body. "My mom died giving birth to me, leaving just my kuya to take care of me. Later my kuya died protecting me." She started to explain. "I'm the reason their dead. My father and most of my family wants me dead, and while that's happening I'm looking over my shoulder constantly for monsters. All the while I have to stay in place because there are those who need me here, but they should also steer very far away." She explained. "But that's what happens when you are a third generation demi-titan and a kid to a Roman demigod."

Clint, who was trying to get a hold of Natasha by the door, paused his hand. "Hold up, you're not making any sense." He said. "Roman? Did you actually just say Roman?"

"Yes." She answered a little exasperated. "Did you really think the Greek gods were the only one's out there?" She told them. "You have a freakin' Norse god standing in front of you."

She had a point.

"Anyway," She continued. "Ms. Peggy and her niece found me begging in the streets of Quezon City when I was nine. They took me to the states to start a new life, to change my name… You know, the American Dream. I came to the states with my kuya, my big brother, earlier when I was seven. We were chased out by both camps: Camp Jupiter and Camp Half-Blood."

"Camp Jupiter." Captain repeated. "You mean the Roman camp?"

"Yes." She answered. "However, after my existence became known to both camps, the gods tried to kill me. My brother died from his wounds before we even reached the shores of the Philippines."

Steve scratched his head, a little confused. "Why would the camps try killing you?"

"Roman's and Greeks had bad blood between one another since the two met." She said. "I mean, a Roman could push a Greek demigod and the third World War would start." She paused to look at their surprised faces. "Yeah," She said. "That bad." She looked out the window. "I had to fend for myself for a long time. Even with Ms. Peggy providing food and shelter, I couldn't be around her. I even ran away a few times, but her niece always found me and brought me back." She laughed a little at the memory. "When I turned twelve, I learned of my Greek father. He never claimed me as his own, because, according to him I'm 'an abomination to the world itself'."

"So you've met your father?"

"Oh, yeah. He tried to kill me that day too." She said. "Great father-daughter bonding, huh?" Her amusement was said ominously. "But it wasn't long that I found others like me…. I mean, not like me, but somewhat close. There were those who were second or third generation of both Roman and Greek blood in their system, and there were those who were demi-titan's. That's the thing with the gods, everything come's in three's, therefore second to third generations were in danger. Nagg—I mean Naguit, was the first demi-titan I found. The gods were hunting them, all of them. So Naguit and I had an idea of hiding them in plain sight. We sent some of them to the camps, though they had to be processed carefully, and others we took under our wing to train to survive and have close to normal lives. The gods thought we were building an army, so Thor offered the protection of his father to keep them safe." She explained. "However, I couldn't go near them, for that is the burden of a third generation freak. I feel as if the gods know where I am, its killing me to know that they haven't done anything about it. It's probably because…." She drifted off.

"Because what?" Steve asked.

She waved her hand, pulling herself up in a more comfortable position on the couch. "The big Prophecy in which one of the Big Three kids would destroy or save Olympus. From what my sources say the kid was Percy. He didn't destroy Olympus but he pretty much trashed their throne room."

"Jackson didn't tell us much about his camps."

"Probably for the best." She yawned. "I could give you the short story though."

And then she told them about the pact of the Big Three during World War II. Of how the Prophecy was made about how a child of theirs would destroy Olympus. She told them about how the Roman and Greek gods were one and the same person, something in which Steve had trouble processing due to his own religion. He also had trouble processing the fact that World War II, the period in which he was born and raised in, was really a battle between Zeus, Poseidon and Hades. Melissa continued to say that the war that occurred a few months ago at best, a battle in which they call "The Battle of Manhattan", was due to the Prophecy that was given during World War II. She also explained that the Roman Big Three gods were unknown to have made the same pact as their Greek counterparts.

"Which leads down to me." She continued. "My mom was a Roman demigod, so my grandfather is actually Jupiter."

"Hence the sparks on your wire." Clint observed, looking at the cord which was connected to the knives. "What about your Titan legacy?" He asked.

She shrugged, and then winced, forgetting about the stitches on her shoulder. "Many of the gods figured that some of the Titans had faded. That could not be as false as ever. An example would be Selene, Titaness of the Moon before Artemis or Diana… whatever."

"So she's your great grandmother."

"Yes."

"And your Greek father?"

Melissa's mouth went shut and then turned into a thin line. She thought of answering for a moment before saying instead, "I have something for you, Hawkeye."

Surprised by her change of communication, Hawkeye just stared at her for a moment.

"There's a room upstairs." She explained, "Third door to the right. There's a closest full of arrows which I made a few months ago. They explode, so carry them wisely."

"Percy told me that only Apollo could handle weapons like that."

"Well these were crafted carefully so that you mortals would use them. Take as many as you want." She called the last part out, as Hawkeye made his way upstairs. She smirked when she looked at the Captain. "My story must seem very unrealistic, huh?"

"I've heard worst." He answered, with a small smile.

"Highly doubtful." She stretched out her legs. "My mom and brother dead, both families hate me, I'm a constant danger to anyone who tries to help me… I could go on."

"And then there's Naguit." He added, "And the demi what's it's."

"It's not what I want though." She said sadly. "Most of them don't know who the mysterious person working behind the scenes is. Naguit doesn't even see me half the time, and she spends most of it with them." She explained. "What I want is to go to the beach and lay out in the sun without a monster attacking. I want to go to the gardens and smell the roses, play in the park without some freak thunderstorm up ahead. I want to be with someone who can be with me for more than a year without dying."

"The last part sounds more personal." Steve surmised.

"It is personal, and that's something I won't tell you." She started. "Ms. Peggy and her niece gave me that second chance, they are kind to me. But the only way I could repay them is to stay away."

Steve would have said more, but he understood how she felt on a different level. Melissa came to the conclusion that to love was to destroy, a common and cliché way to think, but it was what she had to live through most of her life. When Steve woke up from the ice, he was sent to some secluded area, and then was slowly integrated into this new society. All the while he had the knowledge that most of his friends were dead, except Peggy, but she was now old and made a life for herself. Steve's solitude was just that knowledge, until he met the Avengers. Yeah, they weren't exactly like the family he made back in the 1940's, but he would trust them with his life if push came to shove.

So he didn't say anything. He didn't know what to say, so he kept quiet and stopped asking the questions.

Thor was silent too, though not for too long as he strode up to Melissa and said, "You did a brave thing today, Nagiisa." He said.

Melissa cocked her head sideways to get a better view of him, her eyes scrunched. "I'm pretty sure I failed, you know… protecting the Tesseract and stuff?" She looked toward the dim glow of the cube. "I put so much protection on that thing; charms, spells, ancient items. I even put a coater which is supposed to block any device from tracking it."

Thor shook his head, "Your main mission was to protect it yes, but it did not go into enemy hands." He pointed at it. "It's still in your possession, correct?"

"Oo, but Loki—"

"—Would have gotten his powers either way." He interrupted. "You just delayed the inevitable."

"So you're saying that I put my life, and Ms. Peggy's life, in danger for no reason? You should've just put the thing in a glass display for the entire world to see!"

"Then we wouldn't have learned of Jackson and his camp." Steve put in. "Without that delay, we wouldn't have had the time to arm ourselves against the monsters, or had any knowledge of it. Tony wouldn't have learned his heritage and it…" He started to drift. "And I wouldn't have had a reason to see Peggy again."

Clint came back down the stairs, a pleased look on his face. His quiver was now refilled with more arrows, looking more deadly than ever. He held a phone above his head. Melissa was about to protest about the phone being in the house.

"It was a two second call." Clint said. However, she still didn't look pleased. "Nat made contact. We have to go." He said urgently, looking more at Thor than Steve.

"Then go." Melissa said. "Jackson will be up any minuet. He won't remember most of this, so come up with some story. It's important that he doesn't know about me."

The three Avengers exchanged looks and nodded in agreement.

"What about you?" Steve asked.

She just simply waved her hand and settled back into the cushions more comfortably, yawning. "I'll be fine in an hour or so." She said. "I'll get an apartment for Ms. Peggy and clean up later."

Steve couldn't just leave her there without the last question in the back of his mind. "Nagiisa." He said, calling out through the darkness that was about to take hold of her. "Why 'Melissa Tandron'? What's your real name?"

"You're asking this now." She questioned with a raised eyebrow. She then sighed and sat back up from the couch. "'Melissa Tandron' is an anagram. You could google it."

"And your real name?" Clint asked, because he suddenly found an interest in it.

"Don't laugh." She warned. She took a deep breath and said, "It's a common name in the Philippines, alright? My real name is Baby Nagiisa."

"BABY?" Clint said, surprised. He couldn't hold back the broad smile which would later follow with a laugh. Instead, he covered it with a cough. A very hard cough.

"It's a common name in the Philippines!" She repeated angrily.

Steve couldn't believe he actually had to push Clint outside the door to stop his chuckles. He stood there in front of her for a moment. "You sure you'll be alright?" He asked her.

Her smile was genuine this time, though lacked the light of her eyes. "Ms. Peggy will be waiting for you when you come back." She said instead.

Steve had to smile at that. "I'll see you soon, Nagiisa." He said.

"Yeah."

He went to the other room and picked up the snoring Percy Jackson. Honestly, the kid was too big to be cradled like a child.

Clint decided to poke his head out again when Steve reached the door. There was a devious smile on his face. "You ready?" He looked at Rogers.

Steve looked back at the smiling girl. She finally looked calm, even relieved. He nodded and stepped out.

Clint, with his final say, looked at Melissa and said, "See you around, Baby."

He had to duck when she threw a half broken lamp at his head.

(Author's note: So I feel like I went overboard with the whole Greek-Roman and Titan thing, but in truth I was already writing this chapter four years ago so I didn't want to change it. Plus, Melissa had this entire story to tell, but I had to cut it short due to the fact that this would have been longer than it should have. If you're still interested in her story, I'm going to post something at the very end of the story explaining who she is.

Anywho... I hope this chapter was okay, considering it's an OC. Leave your reviews, I like your lengthy one's. Also if you guys have any idea's, I'll consider them and put them in.

So, review and stuff!

Next chapter: Confusion and disaster - I'll work on that)
