Chapter Twenty-one : Bouncing Thoughts and Exotic Birds

Steve held Darcy close, part of him couldn't believe she'd accepted him so easily. But then this was Darcy , she could always surprise no matter what she did. But he worried her relationship with him and her friendship with Thor would get her killed. It didn't surprise him at all that Darcy and Thor were best friends, they were both boisterous and loud. They could bring cheer and happiness to any room they stepped in to. Thor's recklessness was usually endearing but it worried him now with Darcy in the mix, they could cause a lot of damage together he was sure.

But there was no way he was going to tell that to Darcy, he knew she cared deeply about her didn't have many and the ones she had she protected tooth and nail. He was afraid his lovely dame was a danger magnet, he guessed he'd have to be more vigilant. Steve decided he would have to make arrangements with Bucky to help look after her, not that he would tell her that. It wasn't that he didn't have faith in his plucky little dame, truly he did just the little neanderthal in him wanted to be over protective. A loud pounding on the door brought him out of his bouncing thoughts.

" Captain open this door, I've been informed you are holding my bestie captive." Thor called through the door, Steve chuckled and Darcy kissed his cheek with a loud smack." You should probably let him in before he breaks down the door, handsome." He nodded climbed off the couch on his way ruffling the feathers of Darcy's flamingo. He opened the door and nearly got hit in the face by Thor's fist since the large god was mid pound. Managing to duck seamlessly he stepped to the side as Thor rushed in and over to the couch were Darcy sat. The big god knelt in front of her and gingerly picked up her ankle carefully inspected it, she was idly poking him in the cheek with her toe.

" Chill dude, Steve took care of me." Thor squeezed her foot gently in one large hand as he pulled her tiny foot from his cheek.

" Man of Iron told me the Captain kidnapped you and took you to his boudoir to have his way with you." Thor said bluntly and Steve couldn't help but sputter in indignation, Darcy just laughed brightly.

" I wish." she said and Steve turned as red as tomato, Thor just laughed.

" You find the captain appealing." The big god stated bluntly looking over at Steve who felt a little like a bug under a microscope, Darcy smacked Thor in the head with her foot quickly.

" Your spending too much time with Iron Man big guy lets not be rude, girl talk is not done in front of the guy in question. It's done over cheesecake or a tub of Ben and Jerry's and a bottle of cheap red wine ." she said simply, Thor nodded scooped up Darcy much to her and Steve's surprise.

" Were going to have girl talk captain." and off Thor went carrying Darcy off like a bag of potatoes. All Steve could do was wave and call out

" Be careful." Of what he didn't know, it just seemed the right thing to say. He sat down on the couch and Darcy's flamingo draped it self across his lap, he scratched it's back.

" Were did you come from?" he asked the bird gently not expecting it to answer back.

" From Gloria's restaurant captain." Jarvis said making Steve jump slightly was there anything Jarvis didn't know.

" Why was he at a restaurant?" Steve asked wondering if people ate flamingos now a days.

" His name is Loco Pollo and he's an attraction at the restaurant, but the owner is trying to sell him but no zoo wants him." Jarvis said Steve knew one little dame who really wanted the bird.

" I've taken it upon myself to buy him for you sir." Steve laughed Darcy would be utterly thrilled some fellas bought there dames flowers he ends up buying his dame an exotic bird.
