Hi all, I'm posting this one quickly because its the second half.
Please Review! I want your thoughts on Dramione and how the ball went!
"Welcome everyone to our home," Felix stands on top of a platform with the glass wall behind him, it was dark outside so I couldn't see the garden except the outline of the fountain. "Its been too long since the last time I saw some of you, and others I'm excited to see you again." A murmur of agreement floats through the crowd, and I'm aware of the ones he will be seeing again soon moving closer to me. "We wanted all of our closest friends to be here tonight so you can hear the big news my family has from us and not the Prophet." Harry stands on one side of me while Draco still has his arm around me. Blaise is standing on the platform with Circe, behind Felix. "And it is big news, wonderful news that when I think of it I can't help but smile like a teenage boy." As a murmur goes through the room again I turn to look at Draco who was watching me instead of the announcement.
"Should we get closer?" I whisper.
Draco nods. "Potter," He snaps, still under a whisper. He inclines his head towards the stage then points at me. Harry nods and the three of us slowly walk towards the stage, acting like we just want to see better.
"During both wizarding wars, my family lost a member that could never be replaced. My daughter couldn't come home because it was dangerous for her and for the rest of my family. The Dark Lord agreed to leaving my lovely life alone, and as long as I had one child he would leave them alone too. At the time Circe was pregnant, but we found out later it was with twins." A louder murmur goes through the crowd as I reach the front of the crowd and look up at Felix who smiles a little more confidently when he sees me. "A friend that I thought I could trust told the Dark Lord that my son Blaise was born, but left out any mention of my daughter. We had to hide her and break off contact after just two months." Felix pauses, but the crowd had grown silent as they watched Felix talk. Circe allowed only one tear to drop. Draco's hold on me tighten slightly. "Circe and I thought of our daughter everyday. We tried to watch our daughter when she entered the wizarding community, but we knew as much as the general public knew. It wasn't till recently that our daughter came home and we could begin to be a true family. That is why all four of us wanted to have this ball. To tell everyone we care about about our family and to properly introduce my daughter." Around me people begin to look around the room, most of them towards the stairs expecting to see a dark-skinned, black hair woman coming down.
"Do you want me to go up there with you?" Draco whispers into my ear quickly. After slight hesitation, I nod with wide eyes, the nervous feeling creeping into my throat. Draco moves his arm so his hand is on the small of my back and leads me closer towards the stage, until I'm climbing it's stairs with shaky legs ready to throw up. "Breathe," Draco whispers from behind me so no one else can can tell he is speaking except me.
"Everyone this is my daughter," Felix stretches out a hand and takes mine out of Draco's. "Hermione Zabini." There are many loud gasps, talking and clapping mixed together.
Blaise walks forward and takes my other hand, Draco is stepping off the stage with Harry and I can feel his stare on the side of my face. Circe takes Felix's place and kisses my head, causing me to smile and clam down a little. Felix puts a hand on Blaise's shoulder, grinning as much as Blaise is.
"Hi," I say to the crowd when it quiets down. A few of my friends chuckle, but I can tell that those who didn't know are on edge. "I didn't know about my family until my past birthday in September. I've been living out of the country for the past year, and I don't plan on answering any question retaining to that. I will answer questions about the past three or four months though." There is one beat of everyone figuring out their question, then hundreds of hands raise. I chuckle when I see a hole in the crowd of no hands raised where the Order stands. "Daphne." I say nodding towards the blonde who was closer to the front.
"You're under a glamour charm, obviously, but are you going to lift it?" She uses her wand so others can hear. Those with the same or similar questions drop their hands.
"People know this face as Hermione Granger, and I'd like for them to know it as Hermione Zabini too. It's just easier that way." I explain. "Dean?"
"What do the Grangers think about all of this?" Dean asks, Seamus stands next to him and nods, but his arm is still raised.
"I owe a lot to the Grangers for taking care of Hermione," Circe says, glancing at me. "So I respect theirs and Hermione's request for everyone to not ask any questions about where she has been and where they are now." More hands go down and I whisper thanks to Circe.
"Andromeda?" I look towards the light brown-haired version of Bellatrix, in her arms was little teddy who had made his hair into green to math a wizards robes next to them.
"Who was the person that betrayed your family, Hermione?" She asks, and I can tell she thinks it was Bellatrix. I begin searching for Draco in the crowd.
"Lucius Malfoy," Felix answers. "I made the mistake of believing he could be trusted and he went against us. That's all we have to say about it though." Andromeda sighs in relief, and adjusts Teddy on her hip. He points to me and turns his hair violet. There aren't many hands left.
"Astoria?" Blaise lets her speak so we can get past whatever gossip is going to start.
"Is Hermione and Draco together?" She asks, this causes a much louder exclamation from my friends. All of my male friends are bickering and discussing the question, while Luna and Ginny are trying to calm them down. This is the moment I find Draco.
"Draco and I are very good friends because we are both close to the Zabini's. I enjoy being around him, but past that we are not dating." I answer, feeling a slight blush to my cheeks. Draco is leaning against the pillar I had leaned on earlier. When he sees me watching he winks, smirking, making me begin to blush a little more. "I think that's enough questions, lets all go back to dancing and socializing?" I smile and wait for the hands to go down and music to start before turning my back on the crowd and embracing Circe.
"Thank you, Hermione," Circe whispers, pulling away and kissing my forehead. "This really does mean a lot to me."
"It means as much to you as it does to me, Circe." I tell her then turn to Felix. "I love both of you, and want everyone to know that I am a Zabini." All either of them can do is smile and give me another hug.
"Hey Hermione, care for a dance?" Blaise steps up, grinning proudly.
"Yeah let's go, I feel like everyone is staring at me from up here." He helps me down the stairs, still smiling like a fool. "I guess they'll continue to stare since I'm dancing with a weirdo."
"There is nothing bad about smiling, you're smiling," Blaise comments twirling me a little.
"Yes, but I was a Gryffindor. We smile, Slytherins smirk," I comment, which makes Blaise smirk.
"You're going off Draco. He smirks all the time, except of course when he's with you," Blaise comments, laughing when I begin to blush again. "So how do you like the ball? See everyone you wanted to?"
"Yeah." I lie. Phillip hadn't shown up. The song ends and both of us walk over to where Draco is standing. He pushes off the pillar and heads over to us. I smile when I meet his eyes, but just as I'm opening my mouth to speak, someone steps in between us. Someone thin but muscular, who had a large grin on his face. "VIKTOR!" I exclaim happily, throwing my arms around the Quidditch players neck, before having to jump back quickly and suck in a deep breath. My chest felt like someone was throwing bricks at me. "How are you? I missed you!"
"I'm good. You look pretty, Hermy-own-ninny," Viktor Krum says, blushing a little. He always was shy and like a little kid, even though he is huge. "Care to dance? I'd like to dance at another ball with the prettiest girl." I smile and nod, before looking around him towards Draco and Blaise. Draco was still rubbing his chest even though the pain was gone for me.
"I'll see you two in a minute," I say smiling.
Draco scowls, "Don't get hurt," he hisses a little.
"I'll take good care of Hermy-o-"
"Hermione," I say slowly and smiling. "Let's go." I take his hand and we walk out onto the dance floor.
Viktor and I dance around the room for two songs, laughing and talking. Every now and then I had to step back a little to stop the pain in my chest. By the end of our second dance, I'm about to agree to another because I was having so much fun, when someone taps roughly on my shoulder. It was Ron.
"Ron?" I say warily, Viktor leans over my shoulder to shake Ron's hand, while Ron glares at Viktor, I hide my pain of Krum brushing my shoulder by looking around the room. I catch sight of Draco, he had on his death glare. "Is something the matter?" I say, looking away from Draco.
"I just wanted a dance. You've danced with practically everyone else," Ron comments.
"Oh, well," I try to come up with an excuse. This is a bad idea.
"Come on, 'mione, just one dance," Ron takes my hand and even a little thing like this sends a small prick.
"Um, ok one dance. I'll see you later, Viktor." Viktor smiles and nods as I disappear to the other side of the dance floor. "So how do you like the ball so far?" I'm trying not to wince.
The pain wasn't bad, but it was constant. Ron still thinks he loves me, so the dance was intimate to him. Yet unlike every other dance parter, I couldn't reject him because I'm trying to become friends with him again.
Draco is going to kill me if this dance doesn't first.
"It's alright I guess," Ron comments. He looks me up and down, and I suppress the groan from the punch to my chest. "You look stunning like always."
"Thank you, you look handsome." When is this song going to end? "How do you think the announcement went?"
"Fine, though it's weird how Draco helped you up there." Another hit. My head was beginning to hurt too.
"Why? He's just my friend," I lie, and it cause my head to really begin to hurt. "I think I need to go sit down, Ron." His hold on me tightens and I'm pushed against him "Ah!" I exclaim. "Ron, I really need to go."
"Come on, the song is almost over. And I want to dance with you like real friends," His voice is low and husky and I know he is trying to be flirty. I close my eyes and take a deep breath before opening them and nodding. "Awesome."
"Yea." I move my feet like I'm suppose to while I try to keep my head up. We're on the outer edge of the ball, and no one is watching us, they can't see me about to pass out, and Ron thinks I'm leaning on him on purpose. "Long song, huh?"
"It's nice," Ron twirls me around and I'm beginning to feel numb from the pain. "I miss you, Hermione."
"Ron, now is not the time."
"It is though," Ron says, pulling me close and the edges of my sight is beginning to blacken. "I love you, Hermione," I close my eyes as a particularly strong blow hits me. Ron takes this completely wrong. Before I open my eyes, Ron kisses me on the lips.
"AH!" I exclaim, still trying to keep calm and bring little attention to me. Yet I can't hold myself up anymore, I'm falling and I can't get my hands ready to catch me. I hit something, but its soft like flesh and not tile floor. My eyes are closed and my teeth clenched as I suppress a scream.
"Hermione, whats wrong?" Ron asks, trying to help me up. "Do you need a drink or something?" He help me stand up, but I continue to fall against him, until my whole body feels like it's under the Cruciatus Curse.
"Get your hands of her, Weasel," I hear Blaise's voice, and Ron drops me immediately, but I'm caught by another pair of hands. "We'll take her up to her room, come on Draco you can do it."
"Draco..." I manage to say, trying to see if he is ok. I feel my self being levitated and put under a spell that must be altering my appearance because it feels like someone broke an egg on my head. Then hear someone else running along me. I'm set down against my bed, but it feels like there are needles on it, stabbing my back. Now that I know I'm out of the party, I try to concentrate on numbing the pain like I had during Bellatrix's torture.
Don't scream. Don't scream. Don't scream.
"Hermione," Blaise touches my arm, getting rid of the spell on me, and I scream, but only for a second because then I bite down on my tongue and taste blood. "Draco, come on we need to help her,"
"I don't know why she is still in pain. Mine has numbed away at least enough for me to open my eyes and talk," I hear Draco's voice and yearn for him to help me.
"Do you know what Weasley did?" Blaise asked, bitterness in his voice.
"He kissed her," Draco hisses out, I can practically hear the frown that is on his face right now. Yet at the mention of the kiss my body jolts and I let out another scream. "Hermione!" Someone pulls me into an embrace and the pain numbs enough for me to stop screaming.
"That's it!" Blaise exclaims while I continue to flinch and try to end the pain. "Draco kiss her."
There is a beat and I would wonder if he was going to if I wasn't slowly passing out and their voices sound like they are fading away. I hear Draco reply to what Blaise said, but I can't make out the words. For a few seconds they are bickering, then I'm being picked up.
"Hermione can you hear me," I hear Draco's low voice near my ear, but I can't reply, I can't move besides flinching and trying to grip something solid. "If it was up to me, and I was about to kiss you, you'd be aware of it and not in any pain. Actually if it was up to me I'd never allow you to be in pain." I feel his hand touch my cheek, and the pain goes away some. Draco's hand slowly moves to the back of my neck and each time his thumb makes a trail against my skin the pain edges away. By the time his fingers are nervously playing with my hair, the pain is gone.
I open my eyes and see Draco watching me. I smile when I see him, but neither of us move to tell Blaise I'm awake again. Draco smiles a little and leans forward slowly. My eyes close before his, but just a millisecond after we close our eyes, our lips interlock. Draco runs his hands through my hair, and I lift my hand to cup his cheek and pull him closer. Draco's other hand rests on my waist, pulling me closer. I move my hand to where I'm gripping his hair. The only thing that gets me to pull away is the slight pain in my throat, telling me I need to breathe.
"Hermione!" Blaise pulls me away from Draco and hugs me tightly. "I knew I should have kept you closer and not let you go with Weasley. I'm so sorry."
"I'm okay, Blaise," I say, keeping my eyes on Draco who sits on the bed behind Blaise. "I'm great now, actually." Draco shows a little emotion with a small smile, but it disappears again when Blaise pulls away and I look away from him. "But I don't think I want to dance anymore."
"We'll stay with you," Draco says, Blaise nods and takes my hand.
"Do you want to stay up here for a few minutes and rest?" Blaise asks, showing a worried smile.
"Yeah, just give me a minute and we can go back down," I say, pushing myself off the bed. I get onto my feet and lift my arms to steady myself as I tilt side to side.
"Do you want some help?" Draco asks before Blaise can. I nod and watch Draco stand up slowly too and take my arm, letting one hand lie on the small of my back and the other grip my arm, both firmly gripping me so all I have to do is lean on him. "I'm sorry," Draco whispers as we slowly near the bathroom.
"Please don't say that," I whisper back, a few steps away from the door. I can feel Blaise's eyes on us, but I know he can't hear us.
"What do you want me to say?" Draco glances at me as I grip the doorknob.
"I don't know," I say walking slowly into the bathroom and using the counter for support.
"Tell me when you figure it out." Draco closes the door for me. He doesn't slam it, but the tone of his voice hinted at either anger or severe confusion.
"Oh Merlin," I exclaim staring at myself as I try to breathe and clear my head. "Why did I kiss him back, why did I kiss him," I whisper to my reflection, but she just stares back with equally confused expression. "Why did he kiss me when he knew I was awake?" I hang my head and turn on the faucet. I lick my lips and they taste like peppermint toothpaste, but I didn't use peppermint toothpaste anymore. Licking my lips again, I realize its Draco's. "Oh my god." I whisper, splashing my face with water. Oh my God, oh Merlin, oh my God, oh Merlin.
I turn off the faucet and lean against the counter. "Fauna," I call, and the house elf appears immediately.
"Yes, Miss. Hermione," Fauna says, taking in my stance, "Does Miss. Hermione need water."
"No, Fauna, I need you to make a decision for me is that okay?" I ask slowly, turning away from the mirror and getting down on my knees to be eye level with her.
"Fauna will help Miss. Hermione, but Fauna is nervous about decision," Fauna starts to play with her fingers but I take her little hands in mine and try to smile.
"Fauna, should I go back down to the Ball and wait out the next hour or more, or come up with an excuse and stay in here all night?" I whisper to my only friend at the moment.
"Fauna thinks Miss Hermione should go to Ball and be with friends, then come back to room and Fauna will give her special potion to let her dream without thinking or dreaming. Fauna will take care of Miss Hermione," Fauna nods like she is agreeing with herself and smiles back at me.
"Ok, then Fauna will me help me out of the bathroom, I don't have much strength," I say getting up and keeping a hold of her hand.
"Of course, anything for Miss Hermione." Fauna supports my weight and opens the bathroom door for us. She leads me out of the bathroom, and lets Blaise take my hand from her. "I'll see Miss Hermione later," Fauna nods and smiles at me before disappearing.
"Ready?" Blaise asks as Draco silently takes my other hand to support me.
"Sure," I reply, heading towards the doors. "Did anyone see me coming up the stairs?"
"No, all three of us had a disillusion charm on," Blaise answers, "I'll put one back on so we can sneak back down. It'll be like we never left." As he says this him and Draco lift their wands and cast the spell of themselves and me.
We walk down the stairs carefully, not seeing where our feet are, and avoid anyone that we might bump into. Slowly, we make our way towards and empty table. When there are little people looking our way, we take down the charm and begin to look like we've been standing here talking this whole time. Except we just discuss quietly if we think anyone noticed we were gone. Once that ends, we have nothing to discuss that won't be disastrous if someone over heard.
"Hermione, there you are!" Harry walks over and gives me a hug. "Ron told me something happened and you were -"
"I'm fine, Harry, I'll explain everything later." I make a show of looking at the witch that was staring at Harry and I, she turns around and Harry nods.
"Ok, what time is it do you know?" Harry asks leaning against the table and nodding towards the boys as an acknowledgment.
"Around ten thirty? Maybe eleven?" I guess, I look to Blaise and he shakes his head, there wasn't a clock in the fake ballroom. "Why?"
"Wondering when everyone will leave," Harry answers, attempting to pat down his hair.
"Done with the party so soon, Potter? I was under the impression you liked social get togethers," Draco smirks a little, and I hear a hint of the Malfoy in his voice. Harry glares at him.
"I like them when they are with all friends, not strangers I don't know but know everything about me. It's quite uncomfortable," Harry turns away from them and fixes a stare on me. "I'll see you in a bit."
"Actually, I'll join you," I turn to send a glare at Draco for being rude then smile at Blaise. "I'll see you guys later." Harry and I walk away, but I make sure not to use his help to stand of walk. I'd like to stay out of pain. "Hey Harry," I whisper when we get away from Draco's and Blaise's earshot.
"Whats up?" Harry says, turning a little so he doesn't bump into a witch passing by.
"You haven't seen Phillip here have you?" I ask, giving him a hopeful look that he just shakes his head and frowns at.
"No, sorry. I didn't know he was invited." Harry cocks his head to the side a little.
"Well every pureblood that I don't hate was invited, and he told me he was coming to a ball tonight. Since there are maybe only four pureblood families not here, there shouldn't be any other balls tonight," I explain, nervously twirling a piece of hair.
"Did he say ball or party? Because he could be at a friend's house," Harry asks, we near where Circe, Narcissa, and Molly are standing and they wave us over.
"He said ball," I whisper.
"Sorry, Hermione, but I don't know what to tell you," Harry says, then the topic drops as the mothers ask if we like the ball and if we are both okay. I put on a fake smile for the four of them, but I keep thinking about Phillip lying to me and being off somewhere he didn't want to know where.
"Hermione would you like to go grab a small plate with me?" Circe asks, gingery touching my arm to bring me back to focus. I smile and nod, she keeps her hold on my arm and walks with me to the long table. "Is everything ok, Hermione? You seem far away."
"Phillip didn't show up like he said he would," I explain, rubbing my face because it feels oily.
"I was under the impression he still knew you under a different name than Hermione," Circe says, handing me a plate, silverware, and a napkin.
"He does, he thinks I'm in the Mystery Place still, but told me that he was going to a ball tonight," I explain, putting little food on my plate.
"And since practically the whole wizarding community is in our living room-"
"He lied to me," I finish, sighing and picking up a roll even though they aren't healthy. "Yeah."
"I'm sure he has a reasonable excuse for not coming that you can ask him on Sunday," Circe offers, stopping at the end of the table and offering a comforting table. "You could tell him about of us and Draco. With the amount of threats I'm sure Draco and your brother would send him, he wouldn't dare cross you," Circe jokes so that I show a small smile. "Those two would do practically anything for you."
"Yeah..." I smile at the thought but when I glance to where they are standing, it falters and I think about Draco and I kissing. "They're both great."
"Don't worry about Phillip too much, Sweetie, if he is doing anything he isn't suppose to, well he'll have to deal with a lot of angry people. And he'll loose someone very special," Circe gives me a one armed hug as we make our way towards the boy's table. "You can schedule a date with him before Sunday if you want, you don't have to go only on Sundays."
"I know, that's just our thing," I explain, setting down my plat next to Blaise's glass. "Are you done being a stupid school boy?" I ask Draco, shocking Circe but Blaise snickers.
"I wasn't being a school boy, I was merely making an observation," Draco defends, raising one eyebrow.
"That you knew would piss Harry off," I add, taking a bite of a piece of food that I don't know the name of, it was good though.
"Whatever, do you want me to say sorry?" Draco asks, smirking a little.
"Yes."
"I'm sorry I upset your friend," Draco says then exchanges a grin with Blaise.
"No, go say sorry to Harry!" I exclaim, but Draco shakes his head.
"You already forgave me though, I don't care if Potter is mad at me. As long as you aren't, I'm fine," Draco looks at me a second longer, than glances away as red tints my cheeks. "When is everyone leaving, Circe? I'm tired."
"A few people have already left actually," Circe says, glancing around. "Felix and I were saying goodbye to a few guests when the three of you disappeared a few minutes ago." She gives us a look but continues. "They should all be cleared out by eleven thirty."
"Wonderful," Draco says, slouching against the table to add effect. "Great ball, though, Circe," Draco compliments, flashing a charming smile towards Circe that only makes her roll her eyes.
"Where is Felix? I feel like I haven't seen him all night." I look around the room and Blaise joins me but neither of us can spot our father.
"He is just milling around talking to some old friends and clarifying anything people don't understand. He is determined to not have any false gossip going around when the Prophet writes their story," Circe says, she glances around and then points a little to the left of where I had been looking. "See there he is now, the Minister is probably a few steps behind him. They haven't strayed too far away from each other so they will both be alerted of a problem at the same time."
"Well, I hope they develop an actual friendship, I'm hoping to see Kingsley a lot so I can work on getting us a Mrs. Shacklebolt," I say smiling towards Kingsley then looking back at Circe. "I don't like butting in, but he is a helpless cause if I don't."
"Merlin, it's weird to hear you talk so common about the Minister of Magic," Blaise says, smiling a little to show its suppose to be taken as a joke.
"I know him from the Order, so I see him as the leader of that before leader of the Wizarding Community. It makes him more intimidating but also more trustworthy," I explain, taking a sip of water before finishing my plate.
"Are you and Blaise going to join us by the door to see everyone out?" Circe asks, finishing her plate too and glancing around as the crowd slowly thinned and it was easier to point out where each member of the Order was. They looked like the only ones not holding an alcoholic drink. "I'd like for you to at least say goodbye to a few that you're familiar with."
"Alright, madre," Blaise says standing up straight and rolling his shoulders, making them crack. "I'll be happy to get off my feet later."
"Hermione?" Circe turns towards me and smiles curiously.
"As long as no one tries to hug me," I say, Draco chuckles.
"Yeah, I'd like a meter wide circle around her," He jokes, but Circe takes it seriously and nods. I quickly send Draco a glare. "I'm just kidding, Circe. Contact is fine as long as it isn't intimate."
"Alright, lets go you two," Circe leads the way towards the doors to meet Felix and Kingsley, leaving Draco alone.
We stay by the door, talking to each other and smiling and having small talk with whoever is leaving. No one tries to do anything but shake my hand, and the friends of mine that want to hug are quickly distracted by Blaise. The only time he missed was with Krum.
"Good bye, Hermy-own-ninny," Viktor says, smiling and leaning in for a hug. "Oh Merlin, you're Viktor Krum," Blaise exclaims, pushing Krum a little in the shoulder. All this accomplishes however is making him give me a one sided hug, and then leave his arm over my shoulder. Small pain that felt similar to cramps extended through my body, until Felix came over to introduce himself and Krum had to release me and shake hands. The moment he did, I slumped in exhaustion and almost fell to the ground.
"Careful there," Draco catches me under the arm and helps me onto my feet. "What happened to the meter wide circle? I thought we established hugs are going to be the death of us," Draco tries to joke and lighten the mood, but there is still something in his tone. The kiss seems to be standing in between us.
"I tried to get him away, but he's obsessed with her," Blaise explains, giving me a sympathetic smile. "Sorry, Hermione."
"It's fine, Blaise. The pain is short lived for things like that."
After the second Krum incident, there was only the Order left. They all looked as tired as we were, so after I explained what happened with Ron to Harry and he confirmed to Kingsley that I hadn't been under attack most of the Weasley's disapparated home with their kids to get a good night's rest. The only ones that stayed were of course Ginny, Harry, Ron, and Molly. Molly is still talking to Circe while I walked over and sat on the stairs, Blaise and Draco leaning on the rail.
"Tired, 'mione?" Ginny says, sitting down next to me. She moans a little once she is off her feet. "Blaise, please tell me your family isn't one to throw a ball every weekend, because I don't think I'd be able to do this every weekend," Ginny says leaning her head on my shoulder but glancing at my brother.
Blaise chuckles, "Mother would be crazy if she had to plan a ball like this every weekend."
"We'd all be crazy," Draco comments. I glance towards him for the first time and see his eyes slowly closing and opening. When he sees me watching, he raises an eyebrow and flicks his eyes away from the group, asking if I need to talk to him. I do, but not now, so I shake my head and turn to talk to Ginny about what she thought of the ball.
"Hermione?" Harry walks over, smiling at Ginny lovingly but becoming serious when he looks at me. Blaise catches this too and stands up straight. "Ron wants to know what happened earlier. I told him I wasn't going to tell him anything and that he had to ask you."
"Then where is he? I'll talk to the Weasel," Blaise says harshly, almost growling.
"He's scared of my body guards, so he won't approach me," I explain, giving Blaise a look. "Draco?" I look towards him again and notice he's closed off his emotions to everyone, even me. "What do you think?"
"I don't want more people knowing than have to. If the Minister didn't need to know than Weasley doesn't." Draco says honestly, only looking at me and acting like no one else is listening.
"What's going on?" Ginny asks, having a certain tone in her voice that means she is going to be mad if she doesn't get a straight answer.
"Nothing, Ginny, please don't ask now isn't the time," I put on my most convincible 'I'll tell you later face' and turn to her fiancé. "Harry tell Ron, I am not explaining myself to him but he can come over if he'd like."
Harry nods and walks over to get Ron. As they walk back, Ron looks everywhere but Blaise, Draco, and I. "Hello Ron," I stand up and lean against the rail so I'm not below him. "How did you like the party?"
"Fine," Ron stares at the ground and no one speaks, leaving the six of us in an awkward silence. "I'm really sorry, 'mione. I didn't kn-" Ron steps closer to me and moves to grab my hand. When his hand comes in contact with mine, it sends a shock up my arm that makes me gasp a little.
Before he can even close his hand around my wrist and cause Draco and I more pain, Draco gets in between us and pushes Ron back. "Stay exactly a meter away from her," Draco says lowly. I can't see his face but I wouldn't want to be Ron right now.
The pain was still slowly going away. With only a slight hesitation, I lean into Draco's back to feel better. He turns around and wraps an arm around me and places his head on top of mine. I suck in a deep breath of peppermint, wanting all the complications between us to disappear. Before I pull away, someone jerks Draco back. As he slips away I hear him hiss angrily. I get a glance of his eyes before he is turned around and they've turned such a dark grey they look black.
"Who says you can hold Hermione and I can't?" Ron bellows. He throws a punch and connects with Draco's nose. Draco stand his ground and barely moves from the impact.
"Ron!" Ginny screams.
"Ronald Weasley!" Molly whips around, Circe looking very nervous.
"Ron." I grind out loudly, stepping forward. Draco wipes the blood from his nose away and growls. "Draco... Don't." I whisper, reaching out and touching his arm.
"Get. Out." Draco hisses, everyone else getting quiet to hear him. "Now."
"I'm not leaving until I get a bloody explanation as to why every time I touch the love of my life she is in pain and you show up!" Ron yells, glaring at me.
"Love of your life?" Draco snaps, then he gives a harsh, fake laugh. "Thats great, Weasley, everyone believes that!"
I run my hand down Draco's arm and interlock our fingers, rubbing my thumbs on the back of his hand.
"Ron, I strongly suggest you leave," Felix and Arthur walk over and stand behind Ron and I.
Arthur puts a hand on Ron's shoulder, gripping it tightly when Ron tries to shrug him off. "I think thats a wonderful idea. Thank you for having us, congratulation on your reunion, and I hope to see you soon, Hermione." The moment Arthur stops talking he disapparates with Ron and Molly follows soon after.
"Harry, Ginny, if you don't mind I think I'm going to go upstairs and and sleep till noon," I say after a second of silently calming Draco down.
"That's fine Hermione, we love you and want to see you again soon," Harry walks over and hugs me, but I hug him with one arm and continue to hold Draco's hand, same for when Ginny says goodbye.
"Are you alright, dear?" Narcissa says, walking towards Draco and raising a hand. Draco steps out of her reach, pulling me slightly behind him at the same time.
"Fine. But I'm going upstairs too," Draco says it lowly and turns around, pulling me with him.
"I'll help you clean up in the morning, Circe," I say as I passed her. Blaise falls in step next to Draco and I and when we reach my room, both summon their beds and don't say a word. "I'll be in the bathroom," I say. Blaise nods but Draco makes no sign he is listening.
When I enter the bathroom I see Fauna sitting on the ground with a little bottle in her hands.
"Miss Hermione! Fauna has made special potion!"
I smile and take the bottle, yearning for loosing though for a few hours. "Thank you, Fauna." I tip the bottle back and take a gulp.
"Miss Hermione and take it all." I nod and chug it down. "Fauna will help, Miss Hermione get out of her clothes and ready for bed."
"Okay…" I smile and nod, feeling my thoughts slip away. All I could think to do is move when told to, and even that was slow to do.
After a few minutes I step out of the bathroom and with Fauna's help get in bed. "Are you alright, Hermione?" Blaise says with concern.
"Fine, justok a potion to stop thinking for afew 'ours," I say, some of my words slurring together.
"Why?" Draco asks, something in his voice hints at something but I don't notice.
"To sleep well." I reply, curling into my pillow, letting the darkness fill up my brain and cause me to not think about the kiss I shared with Draco.
I could sleep without one thought.
