A New Future Ch. 21 Melissa's return

a/n: sorry its late guys been a busy few weeks I did when I left work yesterday have 3 days off but my boss called me yesterday afternoon and asked if I could go work at another store today but I'll try to get another chapter up.

The new term was only a few days away. Bobby could hardly believe how fast Christmas break had passed by. He sat next to Kitty in the staff room as they prepared for the first staff meeting of the term. Professor X was running a few minutes late speaking with a new teacher who was joining the staff this term. Bobby had only meet her for a few minutes when she first arrived this morning. The Professor had decided it was time to offer real Home Ec classes instead of just lessons in cooking in the cook's spare time.

Professor X finally came in with the new teacher behind him. Bobby smiled at the new teacher. She appeared to be around Scott and Jean's age. He heard a deep intake of breath though coming from Logan's direction. Logan whispered, "Melissa."

Bobby looked surprised at Logan who was sitting on the other side of Kitty. He saw the look on Logan's face as he looked at the new teacher. Logan didn't say anything else though and turned to the professor as he started to talk to everyone. He said, "everybody this is our new home economics teacher Melissa Browson. Melissa this is Scott Summers is our assitant headmaster and teaches shop class and physical sciences. Jean Grey-Summers is our resident doctor and she helps train the students with telekensis. Ororo Munroe teaches english and head trainer for the jr. X-men. Kurt Wagner teaches German and self defense. Pete teaches computer classes and trains students with super strength. Marie and Jimmy teach the youngest kids its grades 1st through 5th in one classroom so its easier with 2 teachers. Bobby Drake teaches math classes and is our accountant. Hank Mccoy is also a doctor and teaches biology. Logan teaches social studies. Haley is the school nurse. Sarah is the cook. Kitty Drake is student teaching in biology. Jubilee is student teaching the phyiscal sciences. Our staff is small but like I told you when I interviewed you its not a very big school. Other subjects not taught directly by our teachers the students have the option of taking online."

Melissa said, "Its nice to meet you all. I'm glad to join your staff."

Professor X said, "alrite everyone lets get this started. As you all now the new term starts Monday morning. You have your schedules and class lists. We have 2 new students this semester as well. You have already meet Ronnie Drake. Theres also a new girl coming whose 13 her name is Missy Brownen. She will be arriving this afternoon shes from georgia and has telekenectic ability."

After the meeting, Logan headed toward his room but turned when he heard voices behind him. He saw Jean and Storm standing there talking to Melisssa. He watched her for a few minutes seeing the woman that in another lifetime had been his wife. Two years after she had disappeared and 6 months after Bobby and him had found Kitty in the concentration camp he had given up on ever finding her accepting she was gone. He had actually even given Kitty and Bobby their wedding bands when they got married in that timeline. He had Melissa's only because since hers no longer fit her fingers do to swelling he wore it on his dogtags with his own. He could not wear his due to his claws would cut it. He saw Melissa and Jean walk off towards the classrooms figuring Jean was showing her to the room that would serve as a classroom.

Someone behind him yelled his name. Logan realized it was Hank. He turned and looked at him as he walked up to him. Logan said, "why didn't the professor tell me Hank? I mean I didn't even know that she was coming."

Hank said, "He wasn't sure if that was the same Melissa. Professor X has been thinking about adding Home Ec to the the school circluim for a few years. The cook has taught some of the students especially the girls cooking, but as the school gets bigger we need more teachers. I remeber when it was just Professor X, me and Alex Summers course back than there was only about 15 students as well. That was long time ago after you came. Alex returned here to the school wanting to make a difference. He left a few years later when he meet Scott's mom. We didn't hear from him again he wanted to live a quiet life just his family. Next time we heard was that him and his wife died in a plane crash. They knew that Scott and Alex Jr would be mutants as well so they had left a will stating if anything should happend to them that the boys should come live here. We have had teachers come and go in the years but have kept the school open. Professor X offers to pay college tution for any student who will join the staff or serve as X-men for a minimum of 5 years after college. That's helped alot of the students get a college education since alot of them have no family."

Logan nodded and said, "I was just surprised that she showed up. I got to go I have to finish getting my lesson plans together for next week."

Logan headed for his office but stopped when he saw Jean and Melissa standing inside the empty office next door to his. He stopped in the doorway as Jean looked up and smiled. She said, "hey Logan I'm just showing Melissa around."

Logan nodded and said, "Its nice to meet you Melissa my office is next door to yours."

Melissa smiled and Logan remebered that smile he shook his head for a second he had to remeber this Melissa was not the woman he was married to. He looked at Jean who was looking at him strangely and said, "I have to finish my lesson plans for next week I'll see yall at dinner."

Melissa watched as the strange man left the room. She looked at Jean who was standing on the other side of the desk. Jean was showing her where everything that she needed was in her office. She could of course rearrange it any way she wanted. Melissa saw that one of the teachers or students had already brought the boxes she had marked for her office there. Jean than took her upstairs to the floor where all the teachers bedrooms were and showed her to her room leaving her there. Melissa looked aroud at the luxorious room that was hers. It had a queen sized bed, a desk and chair, a comfortable chair and even her own bathroom. She had been surprised when Professor Xavier had contacted her with a job offer. Melissa had graduated from the Maschuetts Academy another mutant school ran by the White Queen. She went to college though here in Salem at the University meeting some the other mutants from Xavier's. She had just graduated a semester late from the university with a degree in education and Home Economics. She had choosen a position here at the institute over the public schools.

Jean left the new teacher to get settled and headed back to her own room. Scott was sitting on the bed watching cartoons with Rachel snuggled up next to him. Jean smiled at the sight of her strong leader of a husband laying in bed watching Disney Jr. She saw that Rachel was asleep so she sat down on the other side of her on the bed. Scott moved Rachel so that she was laying on the other side of him. Jean said, "theres something up with Logan. He's been acting strange since the day that Bobby and Kitty announced their pregnacy."

Jean nodded and said, "he reacted strangely to Melissa as well."

Scott shook his head and said, "Logan had always been a strange guy ever since he came here. I still can't believe that the Professor is accepting Pyro's sudden change of heart though. Pyro has asked to start training again with the X-men."

Jean said, "you know the Professor he believes that anyone can change and Pyro had alot of anger to work through remeber he was abandoned by his family."

Scott nodded and got up carrying their daughter to her crib to finish her nap. He turned and said, "I got to go with Storm and Bobby to pick up the students from the airport."

Just as they were discussing this they heard screaming coming from down the hall. Jean said, "oh my god thats Kitty."

They got up and quickly ran down the hall toward Kitty and Bobby's room were they could hear Kitty crying and Bobby trying to comfort her. Jean's first thoughts were the baby but she never knew what could be happening.

A/n: okay so enters Melissa my oc and those of you that dont know Melissa is Logan's wife in the old timeline this story is now not just about Boby and Kitty but Logan and Melissa too yes dont shoot me I left you on a cliffhanger for a reason.
