Chapter 21
No one's POV
Lex was in the café shop drinking coffee and reading a newspaper article. Then from outside the window he looks up and sees Tori walking. He sets down his coffee and quickly gets up and goes to her and he stops right in front of her.
Tori's POV
I just left from visiting my dad and was walking back home. I was passing the café shop until someone was in front me and stops me from walking. I look up and it was Lex.
"Tori I just heard about your dad is he alright?" Lex asks me concerned.
"He's hanging in there." I say shrugging my shoulders a bit.
"This is crazy your father didn't kill anyone. Give me five minutes and I'll get you the ten best lawyers in the state." Lex said offering his help. I look at him for a couple of seconds wondering if I should accept his help. Then I shake my head no at him.
"Trust me Lex I don't think lawyers aren't going to be able to help." I say to him serious and he just stares at me. I was about to walk away until Lex stops me by grabbing my wrist.
"It's Phelan isn't it? What he's got on you Tori." Lex said noticing what I meant by what I said and my reaction.
"Look Lex I appreciate your help, but stay out of it alright…please." I pleaded him and he looks go of my wrist. I begin to walk away again.
"Listen to me, you may think how a guy like Phelan works, but you'll be wrong." Lex says loud enough for me to hear and I stop walking then look at him.
"Sounds like to me that you're an expert." I say to him and he shrugs his shoulders.
"I understand his world." Lex replies.
"Yeah…he told me you have secrets." I reply back.
Lex was quiet for a while then he spoke up. "There are some parts of my life I'm not very proud of Tori; but I don't wanna see you or your family hurt. Now let me help."
"You can't Lex! Don't you understand." I say angry while he continues to look at me. "I'm sorry, but I've gotta handle this on my own." With that I left Lex standing there as I went back home. I made it home and instead of going inside my house I went to the loft and sat down on the couch. I was just sitting there staring off into space until I hear someone coming up the stairs and I look. I then see Andre and Cat coming up the stairs and they smile at me. I give them a small smile and get up from the couch.
"Hi Tori." Cat said very happy and ran towards me and gave me a hug. I chuckle a bit and return her a hug.
"Hey Cat how've you been?" I ask as I let go of her and look at her and she smiles.
"I've been good Andre and I just got back from our rehearsal." Cat said all bubbly I just smile at her.
"Yeah we're doing another song together." Andre says. He and Cat have a singing class together man how I wish I was in that class sometimes.
"That's cool guys. When are you going to perform?" I ask them as we sat down on the couch.
"Don't know Sikowitz is still trying to figure that out." Cat replies as she pulls out a candy from her pocket.
"You know I always that he was homeless didn't know he was an actual teacher when I ran into him and told me." I say in all honesty and they laugh at that. I guess it's kind of funny.
"Yeah he actually gets that a lot since he's wearing weird clothes and hardly ever wears shoes in school." Andre says with a small chuckle and I also chuckle along with while Cat was eating her candy.
"We heard about your dad Tori. I'm so sorry he's a good person and he's innocent. Are you going to be ok?" Cat said looks at me sad. It's a small town well not that small but mostly everybody in this town heard about my father. Of course all of them know that what he did isn't true.
"Thanks Cat and yeah I'll be fine." I say with a small smile she nods her and hugs me a little bit.
"You know what chica let's all hang out and help you keep your mind off things." Andre said who was on the other side of me and I nod. Cat just smile and also agreed to stay with me. After we all started to hang out and talk it was fun and it did help got my mind off of what's happening with my dad. We also did a little bit of homework and that wasn't fun but I had fun hanging out with Andre and Cat. It was almost 10 p.m. and they were ready to go home and rest so they got up and help me clean up a bit.
"Alright Tori it's time for me and little red to go." Andre says we start walking to his car as he pulls out his car keys.
"Alright I'll see you guys later." I say to them back and Cat gives me a huge hug and I start to laugh as I hug her back.
"Bye Tori" Cat says as she lets go of me and goes inside the car I smile at her. Ah Cat, makes everyone feel better when they're having a bad day. Andre walks up to me and puts his hand on my shoulder and looks at me.
"Are you going to be ok Tori?" He asks me concerned. I smile at him and nod.
"Yeah Andre I'll be fine all thanks to you and Cat. I know that my dad will also be fine too." I say to him and he nods and smiles and he hugs me. We then say our goodbyes and then he leaves. I go back to the loft happy and go next to the huge window there and stare at the night sky. Nothing can also go bad on this day I smile to myself happy.
"You busy Tori." I hear someone say as the person startled me. I turn around so fast and I see stupid freakin Phelan. Ugh great I spoke to soon.
"The hell do you want from me Phelan?" I shout at him mad and he just stands there looking at me.
"That's kind of complicated. After last night I've got internal affairs asking me…more questions than I wanna answer." Phelan explains while I just stare at him with one of my eyebrows raise.
"Yeah and how is that my problem. So you deal with it." I snap at him not really caring what problem he has.
"That's where you're wrong kid. It's our problem but are next bit of business is gonna be our last." Phelan said as he leans on a wood that was next to him. I stare at him confused and I was about to agree until I remember what my father said.
"Look I don't care anymore go ahead Phelan, tell the whole world about me but I won't be going down alone. I'll be taking you with me and I'll make sure of that." I bit back more confident. I made a choice I'm not going to be doing anything for him. He just stares at me then walks over to the couch and decides to sit down.
"Tori you may not care about yourself, but think about your parents. Now your father is in jail on a murder charge and whether he beats it or not he's gonna lose this farm just paying legal fees. I can still make that all go away." He says with a snap of his fingers then he continues while I listen. "So what's it going to be?"
Yet again that prick is right my dad will lose the farm paying a lot of money because of the fee. Great now I have to make another choice so I sigh and go with Phelan again. We got out of the barn and walk towards his car and we get inside it and took off to wherever he's taking me. What we didn't know that there was another car that was following us the whole time. We arrived at the Metropolis museum and Phelan parked his car. The car that was following us did the same thing only a couple feet away from us.
"What are we doing here?" I ask Phelan looking at the building then at him confused.
"Well Tori since I couldn't pick up my internal affairs records." He starts then looks at the building then back at me. "I figure it was time to pick up my retirement package."
I look at him still a bit confused. Ok what does he want that's in the museum. There's nothing but old history relics and…I stop then remember the breast plate that's also in the museum.
"The breast plate the museum haves…you want me to steal it for you." I say now understanding why we are here.
"I don't give a damn about the breast plate. I just want the ten millions of dollars' worth of jewels that are on it." Phelan says with a smile and he gets out of the car then I do. I follow him behind the building and go up the ladder and was now on the roof. He then leads me to the power supply that's connecting to the building that turns off everything inside the museum.
"So we're just gonna bust in?" I ask him and he shakes his head.
"Not quite you see Metropolis P.D keeps blue prints on all high security buildings in the city so I know this place better than anybody. Now the security system all runs through this junction box." Phelan says while he taps the box then looks at me. "Open it." I was going to then I stop and look at him.
"Isn't it alarmed?" I ask looking at him serious.
"The only alarm thing they think somebody can get through." Phelan replies and I look at him still serious. Yeah, like that's very helpful I thought. "Look Tori I'm getting pretty bored of this. If you want your old life back you'll do it."
I do want my old life back. More than anything, so I pile off the part where you open the box and set it down next to it. Phelan then shuts down all of the alarms and security cameras. Now all we have to deal with is the guards so how are we going to do that?
"Phelan cameras are one thing what about the guards? And no I'm not going to hurt any of them if you're going to ask that." I say very serious and he just smirks at me and pulls out his cell phone.
"Don't worry I have a different plan kid. Besides they're about to get real busy." Phelan said and calls them and they of course answer. "Yeah Metropolis museum you have two minutes to leave the building there's a bomb outside."
No one's POV
After Lex sees them leave the car and walk towards the museum he gets out of his car. Lex walks over to Phelan's car and looks at it. Then he sees all the police officers run out of the museum and he goes to them. When he reaches them he finds a box in a newspaper box. Lex puts in a quarter and opens it and grabs the small box.
Tori's POV
After Phelan does that we go inside the museum and walk over to the breast plate. We reach it and stop right in front of it and there was a cage surrounding the glass.
"Kid, show me the magic." Phelan says excited while I roll my eyes. I walk up to the breast plate and grab the bars and start to bend them. I punch the glass and the front part of the cage fell when I broke the glass weird oh well.
No one's POV
Outside Lex set the box carefully on the cement and was now opening the box. The box opens and all he sees is a clock that was in the box he shakes his head. Lex picks it up and throws it to one of the officers and it starts to ring and they all got scared, but it was nothing.
Tori's POV
Phelan walks up to the breast plate right after I open and broke the glass and the small steel cage surrounding it. Phelan grabs and picks up the breast plate and looks at me extremely happy.
"We are gonna make a great team." Phelan says with a big smile on his face while I look at him confused. Yeah that's not going to happen.
"You said that this was my last job Phelan!?" I shouted angrily at him and he smirks.
"Yeah…about that…I lied." He says as he puts the breast plate in a black bag. I look at him upset and angry then I look at the wall and use my x-ray vision. I see that the guards are still outside and I smile. I stop using my x-ray vision and look up to see that there are windows then I look at Phelan.
"That's where you're wrong. We'll never be a team." I say and Phelan looks at me confused. Then I pick up the bag fast and throw it towards the window. In the background I hear Phelan shout out no but it was already too late. The bag hits the window and the people outside hear a noise coming from the museum. They see a bag in the air and it lands a few feet in front of them. Lex starts to walk up to it and begins to open the bag.
"You might be able to explain the safe, but your finger prints are all over the breast plate." I say to him pointing out the window while he was looking at me furious.
"You might be strong, but you're not bullet proof." Phelan says angry as he pulls out his pistol and aims it at me. Ah great I thought then he pulls the trigger and the bullet comes flying out of it. The weird thing is that everything was in slow motion so I started to move to the right side to dodge the bullet. Then I see people shadows coming from that direction and the bullet was coming closer. So I move to the left and keep on staring at the bullet confused on how this was possible. The bullet finally hits a glass that was behind me then I took off using my speed ability. Phelan notices that I was gone and was very confused.
No one's POV
"What the hell are you?" Phelan says angry looking around the room for Tori. He saw the police officers and starts to shot at them. They all got down while he kept on shooting at them until he got shot in the chest by one of the officers. After that Lex then goes up to him and picks him up.
"Phelan where's Tori? I know she came here with you." Lex says looking at him. There was a bit of blood coming out of Phelan's mouth and he stares at Lex. "Just tell me what you had on her."
"Go…go to hell Luther." Phelan breathes out looking at him angry. That was Phelan's last words as he dies there in the museum. Lex then lays him down and looks around the room.
Tori's POV
Early in the morning Tori got ready and was now in the kitchen sitting on the stool. The door opens and her mom and dad come walking in and I have a huge smile on my face.
"All the charges have been dropped." My father says to me happy. My mother and I smile we were all happy. "With a lot of apologizes from the Metropolis P.D."
"Then it's finally over." My mother says happy and kisses my dad's cheek and I smile happy for them and me as I got my dad back.
"Well this time Martha, but unfortunately there is more than one Phelan out there in the world." My dad tells her serious and he's right about that. If anyone finds about me it will only be for the money just like Phelan.
"If that happens dad, what will we do then?" I ask him serious and he looks at me. He has this look on his face that tells me he doesn't know.
"I don't know sweetheart. I guess we're going to have to deal with it when the time comes." Was my dad's only answer and I just nod at him. But I still feel like that won't help at all.
"Mom, dad maybe I should stop using my abilities. That'll solve all of our problems." I say with my head down. My parents look at me shocked that I said that but it's true.
"No it wouldn't Tori." I hear my mom and I look up at her. "Your gifts are a part of you. It what makes you who you are, you can't live in fear." I smile at her then my dad speaks up.
"All though a little caution wouldn't hurt." He says and we all laugh a bit. Mom looks at me and says.
"Tori are you sure nobody saw you last night?"
"Yeah I'm positive mom." I reply to her and we all smile and have a nice family breakfast.
No one's POV
At the Luther mansion Lex was on his laptop and going through the footage of last night museum. He saw something speed off really fast in the footage. He rewinds it and pause it at the spot where a blur like figure was speeding off and just continues to look at it. Wondering what that figure could be also wondering who it was.
Well here's chapter 21 sorry that I upload it so late and for the bad grammar and other stuff English isn't my best subject. Anyway won't know how long it will take to upload the next chapter but I'll try to upload it ASAP.
