Sophia was still asleep. I covered her mouth with my hand before waking her. All we needed was her to scream and attract more than we could deal with. She woke u startled and confused. I held onto her mouth tightly and pointed to the window. Her eyes widened in panic.

"I only see the one." I whispered softly. "If we move slowly and quietly out your door then we can run."

Sophia still looked panic stricken and I was worried about her.

I looked directly in her eyes, blocking her view of the Walker.

"Sophia." I said sternly. "Did you understand what I said?"

She focused on me and nodded slowly. I released her mouth.

I looked out the back window to make sure there was nothing in the direction that we needed to run.

"Ok I want you to open the door slowly. I will keep his attention. I want you to run down the road quietly." I hoped she was still with me. "It is very important that you don't leave the road."

"Ok." She answered quietly as she placed her hand on the door handle.

"Ok." I nodded. "On three, one, two, three!"

Sophia took off like a shot out of the car. I kept the Walker occupied long enough for her to get a few feet away. When I was sure she was as safe as she could be I followed. I didn't take long for the Walker to figure out what I was doing. He made his way around the car quickly. Quick enough to grab ahold of my shirt and tear off the sleeve.

I grabbed my knife and stabbed him through the face. "That was my favorite shirt ass hole!"

I wasted no time catching up with Sophia who had been hiding behind a truck.

We both took a moment to catch our breath.

"Are you ok?" I asked breathing hard.

Sophia nodded. "I'm ok."

"Good lets go." I told her grabbing her hand and making our way down the highway.

I wasn't sure how far we had walked when we came upon a snarled mess of a traffic jam. I was hoping that it was the one we had stopped at when all this mess started.

"Does anything look familiar?" Sophia asked as we made our way through the mess of cars.

"I can't be sure." I answered looking around. "All cars are starting to look the same."

She laughed. "I see a few of the same cars here."

"I know, that's the problem."

We walked on further close to the end I saw what looked to be the big water truck that Shane had found. This gave me hope until we got to the end and didn't see any vehicles from our group. My heart fell. They had left us.

My mind raced with thoughts. How long had they waited? Why did they leave? Did they have to leave, want to leave?

"Anna look!" Sophia said excitedly as she pointed to the left of us.

I dropped my thoughts to see what she had noticed.

On the windshield of a car was a message. It said.

Anna and Sophia wait here. We will come every day. And waiting for us was also some food and drinks. We were overjoyed.

We sucked down the water in no time. It had been days since we had any. The only liquid we had gotten was from the peaches. That was a couple days before.

Sophia and I climbed inside the car and waited for someone to come and find us.

"Where do you think they are?" Sophia asked after a while.

"I don't know." I responded looking out the window. "They might have come already today."

"No I mean where you think they are that they can come here every day?" she clarified.

"Good question." I said looking around. "They have to be somewhere close enough to risk the travel and be safe."

"I hope they're all ok." Sophia stated as she curled up in the seat.

"I'm sure they are just fine." I smiled.

I wasn't used to this grown up thing. I could be quite the brat. But ever since the end of the world started I felt like I had aged ten years. Being with Daryl helped with that, he made me want to be a woman, his woman.

I thought of Daryl. The butterflies swam in my stomach at the thought of seeing him again. I remembered his touch, his kiss, and his voice. I sighed at the memory of his eyes as they looked into me.

A tear fell from my eyes. I hadn't wanted to break Sophia's heart, but we had been gone for days. The group could have given up and moved on by now. I couldn't bear the thought of that.

Sophia was asleep and it was getting dark. There was not a soul around all day, Walker or human. If nobody showed the next day then we would have to move on. We couldn't stay in the car forever. It was impractical, and unsafe.

I cried myself to self silently as we spent yet another night alone in the middle of nowhere.
