Here's another chapter for you all. Hope you enjoy, and don't forget to leave a review :)
Will shook his head in an attempt to clear his head, but the throbbing in his skull made it hard. He felt like his head would explode at any moment. He tried to reach a wing to his head, and that's when he realized that both of them were held to the wall by large metal rings like in a medieval dungeon. He looked down to see that it was the same there as well. So instead, he observed his surroundings. He seemed to be in a dimly lit chamber, lit torches on either side. Ahead was a door just big enough to fit a bird of Fortune's size, and close to the top of it was a small window. The walls looked like they were made of some kind of rock, as well as the floor and roof. The air was musty and dusty, and smelled dirty, unlike the air outside. It made him wonder for a second if he had somehow ended up in some kind of castle.
He started to feel himself drifting out of consciousness, and as the room grew darker, he could hear a creaking sound. He slowly lifted his head, barely seeing someone enter. The darkness almost covered everything until he felt something make contact with his face, snapping him back to reality.
"Don't you go to sleep on me yet" a cruel voice spoke. "We're just about to get started." Through his peeping eyes, Will could see a dark blue shape, about his size. The voice seemed familiar to him. Before he could think over it, he felt a pain in his side. He tried to utter a scream, but nothing came out. "Good man, William. You're doing so well." Will blinked his eyes, and then the world around him came into focus, as did the figure in front of him.
"Stalk?" he managed to murmur, his eyes fluttering to clear his vision. He wasn't sure if he really was seeing or hearing him. "What are you doing here?"
"I hope you are enjoying your stay so far" he replied, ignoring his question. "We've been looking for you for some time now, and we should be thanking you now, because not only have we found you, but two agents as well! And I shouldn't forget to mention those two other experiments like you" he continued, hissing the word 'experiments' as if he held a grudge against them. And Will knew what he was talking about. What he couldn't figure out was how he knew. Then, in his head, he added it all together.
"You" he growled, trying to reach forward to strangle the traitor before him. "You took Fortune and Cody! What have you done with them?!"
"Well, if you wish to know so much, the agents are still here. But the experiment, the one you call Cody, is gone. He escaped, which is most unpleasant." Will noticed a sadistic grin spread upon his beak. "But if you also wish to know, he did not leave unscathed. Let's just say that I...returned the favor."
"What did you do?!"
"I didn't kill him, if that's what your asking. But I did use my claws to add a new feature to his face." He raised a claw towards his face, flashing his claws off. Or more specifically, his eye. If you are wondering what I meant before, allow me to show you my true face." He took out a syringe, must like the one Jack had a few days back and without warning, stabbed it into his chest. At first, nothing happened. Then, he began shuddering, and before Will's eyes, he grew. His eyes began to enlarge, as did his size and talons. His feathers changed to a dark brown. But the main feature that caught Will's attention was the large scar that started to appear across his eye.
"W-what are you?" Will stuttered, fear in his eyes.
"I am Stalker, one of the highest of the Agency's order. And I am not alone, as you shall see soon. But not yet." He raised his wing, and that was the last Will saw before he was once again in darkness.
Cody looked back to see Jack still working. He stood on the console to use his claws as fingers, which moved in a blur.
"Who knew you were so fast, Speedy?" he asked. Jack ignored him, keeping his attention on the buttons and switches. When he listened closely, Cody could hear Jack mumbling words, such as 'right button' and 'three turns clockwise'.
"Could you be a bit more quiet? I need to focus" Jack said, keeping his eyes on his work. He partially surprised Cody, since during the short time they had known each other, he seemed much less serious. But who wouldn't be serious when your friends are in danger?
"Right. Sorry" Cody replied before moving back to the entrance, swaying his head back and forth to either direction. So far, and just like before, it was clear. He should have felt at ease, but instead felt unnerved. Every base he'd ever been to had patrols going back and forth. So why were these caverns so empty? Did the distraction work too well? Have they abandoned this place to search for another area for a camp? His thoughts were disrupted by someone cursing, and he looked the other way to see a couple of shadows. "We got incoming."
"I can't just pause this" Jack snapped back, his eyes still on the console. "Why don't you just close the door?"
"Oh yeah. Why didn't I think of that?" he asked himself. Before they were around the corner, he slowly shut it to avoid a slam. By the time it was fully closed, they had rounded the corner, and passed by without giving any attention to the closed door. Cody sighed with relief. "We're clear."
"Thanks for the update" Jack remarked in a grumpy tone. Cody scowled back. Right now, he was wishing that Jack was back to his normal self, because the serious side of him got on his nerves.
"Hurry up, Blu" he thought to himself.
Will felt a pinch at his side, and the stinging pain woke him from his sleep. The first thing he saw was the sadistic grin of Stalker, his eyes watching Will's maliciously.
"Did you have a good sleep?" he hissed wickedly, his voice clearly showing the evil that had been hidden within. He sounded so much more different than what he used to be in his disguise. "I hope you did. You've earned it, and it's probably the last nice thing you get." Will's spine tingled as multiple ideas of what he could do came to mind. "Do not worry. I won't hurt you...too much." He cackled as if he had made a joke, but he was stopped by a knocking at the door to the chamber. "Excuse me. I will be right back."
While Stalker was at the door, Will took this as his chance to try and free himself. But even by using some of Zeel's skills and techniques, he was stuck. And what made it worse was that he could have sworn that they were getting tighter as he moved around. So he ceased his movements and just let himself hang forward, his chest pushing forward.
"So sorry about that. Just had to deal with some trouble nearby" he explained with a smile while holding the door open. Will only glared, keeping his beak shut. "Are you feeling sleepy? I wouldn't go to sleep yet. You have a visitor." He clapped his wings together, and two of his minions brought in a blue macaw. A very familiar blue macaw.
"Mema"Will murmured. "You let her go!" Stalker shook his head.
"You don't get it, do you? She came to me willingly. You see, we have much in common. Both of us have lost those who were closest to our hearts" he began, stalking closer and closer to his prisoner. "We were both scarred by them, but the only difference between us is that her scar is not physical." He parted his chest feathers, revealing torn skin. But through the cracks, Will spotter something glint. "The one I loved tore my heart apart. Literally. I barely made it, then the Agency came. They gave me a new life. A new purpose. And when I came across her again...I returned the favor. And now, Mema has the chance to return the favor.
"What is he talking about, Mema? I haven't done anything to you."
"You still haven't figured it out, have you?" Stalker's grin widened. "I thought you would have. Tell me, who did you leave back at the city of Rio?" Both Will and Mema flinched at the name, but Will noticed she flinched more. He looked closer, and then he saw that her eyes reminded him of someone. He reared his head back, frowning at her in disbelief.
"E..E..Emma?" She flinched again, then after a pause, nodded.
"Now he sees. Good. Then he shall now suffer." Stalker stepped aside, letting Emma pass him and approach Will. She held her claw up to his chest and...pulled it back.
"I can't" she whispered. Will expected Stalker to flinch, but he only scoffed.
"I thought as much. You were never one of us, and you never will be" he snapped. He darted over to her and held up by the neck with one of his large talons. Will watched in horror as he heard her strangled cries. "And now, you will die." He squeezed tighter and tighter, but then stopped when he heard a loud crash. He looked to the door to see two macaws standing in the entrance, his men at their feet. Before he could take a step towards them, he gasped in pain. He looked down to see she had struck him across the chest with one of her own claws, and he dropped her, holding his chest. "GET THEM!" he screeched. Emma rammed herself into Stalker's head, rendering him unconscious.
"Go! I'll hold them back!"
"You can't!" She glared back at Will.
"Why? Because I'm just as defenseless as I was before? Things have changed. I've learnt things, and can take care of myself. Now go, before I change my mind!" Will knew she didn't mean it, but still listened and headed in the opposite direction, only glancing back once to see her fighting a small group.
And that's another chapter. Bet you didn't see that coming...okay, maybe some of you. But still, quite a twist. Hope you enjoyed, and I will see you all next time :)
