Couple's Retreat: Love Cabin: In Disguise
An hour or so later, Sonic, his brothers, sister, and all of his friends find themselves inside of Dr. Lupe's medical office. They are all patiently waiting for the doctor to come out and talk to them...
"Alright, you guys. I've given her a shot to calm her nerves down."
Dr. Lupe exits the examination of her medical office and steps into the waiting room where all of Amy's friends are currently waiting. Each one of them had a worried look on their face, and they all look up immediately when the door is opened. Sonic is the first one to step up and question her about Amy's condition.
"Is she alright?"
"Yes, the medicine in the shot had an immediate effect on her. Right now, she's just sleeping. I would like to keep her here for observations just in case, however."
"What? Why? Isn't she okay!?"
"Yes, yes.. she is, Sonic.." Dr. Lupe assures him as she walks over to a medical box labeled 'dirty syringes,' and she places the needle that she used on Amy inside. She then removes her gloves and turns to face the group of friends who obliviously have questions to ask.
"Then what is it, Doc?" Sonia asks curiously with worry showing on her face.
"First and foremost, Amy's condition is stable. Earlier, she experienced a state of panic which caused her heart rate rise well above normal. This in turn had an effect on the child and put him or her in a state of distress. Luckily, it was only minor, and the medicine I administered helped calm her nerves significantly. Right now, she's sleeping it off. The reason I want her to stay here is because I want to make sure something like this doesn't happen again."
Sonic looks down to the floor and then turns back to the doctor. "Okay, I see..."
"Me too." Sonia nods understandingly. "I'm just relieved that's nothing serious is wrong with her or the baby."
"Yeah, it's still good to hear that Amy's okay.." Cream breathes a sigh of relief as she falls back into Tail's arms. "We were all so worried."
"Yeah, that damned psychopath completely ruined the baby shower that we spent weeks working on!" Rouge says angrily while she pouts and folds her arms. She then sighs sadly and shakes her head. "This is all my fault! If I hadn't suggested that we come here, none of this would have ever happened.."
"No, don't talk like that, babe. None of this is your fault." Knuckles quickly assures his girlfriend while pulling her into a warm embrace. "You couldn't possibly have known that any of this would happen."
"He's right, Rouge. Don't blame this on yourself." Cylvia, standing next to Shadow, tells her. "If anyone should be at fault here, it should be me! I should have said something earlier when I saw him in the corner of the room. I knew he wasn't supposed to be there, but.. but-"
Shadow grabs her shoulder and stops her. "Cylvia, no. Don't.. I'm sorry I yelled at you earlier for that. I was just angry that that son of bitch put his hands on Amy like that."
"It's none of you guy's fault, okay!?" Sonic tells all of them loud and clear. "I should have been with her! I should have kept an eye on her! I left her alone by herself... again. And now she's.."
To get attacked by that mentally insane fox!
Dammit!
"Bro.." Scourge and Manic can both see the sadness on their brother's face as he stares blankly down at the white tiled floor. Before anyone else can speak again, the doctor interrupts the "Taking the Blame" game that is going on between them all.
"Now, you guys!"
Dr. Lupe stops the next one of them taking the blame of what happened on themselves. "This is no one's fault except that man himself. He made the choices of invading Amy's baby shower and physically harming her, and not one of you are to blame for his actions, okay?"
"Sorry." They all apologize at once.
Dr. Lupe shakes her head and then smiles. "Anyway, while I look over Amy here. You guys should probably go clean up the ballroom. It's get your mind off of this little incident."
"Yeah, she's right. All of the decorations, food, and wrapping paper are probably scattered all over the place by now." Rouge groans. "So.. much.. to.. clean.. up! Ugh, I so hate cleaning. I don't even like cleaning my own house most of the time."
"Well, I certainly hope you can cook better than you clean..." Knuckles says a little bit too loud without realizing it.
Rouge blushes madly and punches his arm. "What did you just say!?"
"OW! N-nothing!" He laughs nervously while taking a step back from her.
"That's what I thought!"
Silver chuckles to himself but then receives a glare from the red echidna who quickly shuts him up.
"Well, you got all of us to help you, Rouge." Cream laughs along with the others. "So don't worry."
"Yup, it was an awesome baby shower while it lasted." Sady comments with a smile on her face.
Jason agrees. "Yeah, it was beautiful to say the least, and Amy seemed to really enjoy is as well. Too bad it couldn't have lasted longer."
"Yeah..." Rouge folds her arms and shakes her head once again. "Anyway, let's get going you guys. We should get started cleaning up as soon as possible and get Amy's gifts back to your cabin, Sonic."
"Okay."
"We'll check back up on Amy later, Dr. Lupe. Thanks for taking care of her for us."
"Ahhh, it's no problem at all."
After saying goodbye, the group leaves the doctor's office and heads for the ballroom for cleanup. However, Sonic stays behind for a few minutes. Dr. Lupe can see that he's lingering behind his friends. She correctly assumes that he's still worried about his girlfriend, so she tries to give him some peace of mind.
"Sonic, you can go with your siblings and friends. Amy's safe here."
"But-"
"No buts. That man has been arrested and is in police custody. He's probably being transported away from here as we speak." Dr. Lupe explains in a comforting tone. "And I keep my office locked and under tight supervision. No one suspicious in or out unless I allow it."
Sonic listens closely to her and then gives her a small grin. "Alright.. but can I see her for a minute before I go?"
"Why of course."
She allows him access to the backroom to see his girlfriend and shuts the door behind him. Inside of the room, Amy is soundly asleep in a bed. Dr. Lupe has changed her clothes into more comfortable ones. Underneath the sheet, she has on hospital standard top, shorts, and warm white socks. Slowly, Sonic walks up to her bed and bends down beside her. He gives her a loving kiss on the cheek and strokes her long, pink locks.
"Amy... I'm so sorry this happened to you. I wasn't there when you needed me and... and.. I'm so, so, so sorry! I don't want anything to happen to you or own baby! I.. love the both of you." While he strokes her hair, his other hand is gently rubbing her pregnant belly that now has a nice round shape to it.
She should be over four months now..
I wonder..
Is it a boy or a girl?
Carefully, he places his head on her stomach and listens. He can hear a faint heartbeat from within her. Hearing the gentle sound makes him smile and close his eyes. Combined with hearing Amy's soft snoring, it's like music to his ears.
"I promise Amy.. to you and our baby.. I'll keep you both safe from maniacs like him. I'll keep you safe from everything that wants to do you or our baby harm.. okay? I wont let you get hurt like this again. I.. I don't want to see you cry.. again. I want to see you smile and laugh! I want.. to see you happy. And... when our baby is born.. he or she will cry too, but.. you and I'll be there to put a smile on his or hers face.. right?"
Smiling to himself, Sonic places a kiss on Amy's stomach and then on her cheek once again before turning for the door. Dr. Lupe is tending to a few things when Sonic emerges from the medical room.
"I'll be back later to check on her, Doc."
"We'll both be waiting on your return." Dr. Lupe smiles back and watches as Sonic leaves her office.
Now, all alone, the doctor sits at her desk and begins to do some paperwork. Around forty-five minutes pass on by, and she decides to take a break and check on Amy. Inside of the room, she hears the pink hedgehog starting to wake up on her own. Possibly because of the noise she makes when she enters...
"Oh, you're awake?"
It takes Amy a few minutes to fully open her eyes and she when she does, she's completely confused. "H-huh? Where am I... who are you?"
"What? It's me, Doctor Lupe."
"Doctor Lupe?" Amy slowly sits up in bed and holds her head. For her, the medicine, that Dr. Lupe had given her earlier, has taken an effect on her body and mind. "I don't recognize you at all... I.. I... my head feels so heavy and foggy."
Dr. Lupe quickly walks over to her and assess her condition. "Well, Amy, I gave you a shot earlier to help calm your nerves. There are side effects to it such as mild headaches, feelings of nausea, and blurring of vision."
"Umm... okay..." Amy rubs her head in slight pain and then lays back down on the bed. "Where's Sonic.. and the others?"
"He and your friends left to go clean up the ballroom and will be back later to check on you. You'll be staying here for the night so I can keep an eye on you for a while."
"Oooh... alright.."
"Yeah, it may be a while before Sonic returns, so why don't you-" There is a suddenly loud knocking sound coming from the door outside of the patient room. "Mmm... that was fast. Wait here, Amy. That could be him now."
"Okay..." Amy closes her eyes and seems to fall back to sleep.
Dr. Lupe leaves the room and goes to answer the door. She's completely surprised by who is there when the door is fully open. Before her stands Dr. Hunchkin looking a bit unusual. Because of their earlier conversation, Dr. Lupe never expects to see her there.
"W-well, this is a surprise. What do you want, Dr. Hunchkin? I've said all of what I wanted to say to you, so if you're here to yell at me again, I don't have time to-"
"No.. no. It's not like that. I just.. wanted to talk to you for a few minutes, if you don't mind? One doctor to another."
"Well.."
"Please? It'll only take a few minutes. I promise."
Dr. Lupe looks back into her office and worries about Amy, who's displaying a few side effects from the medicine, waking up all by herself.
"Fine.. but let's talk out here. Amy is sleeping." Dr. Lupe closes the door behind her and gives the psychiatrist her full attention. "So what is it you want to talk about?"
"I just... I just wanted to.." Dr. Hunchkin begins to speak in a soft voice and in such a demeanor that Dr. Lupe has never seen before. "I'm so sorry for everything! You were right! Everything you said was right... I.."
"L-Linda?" Dr. Lupe is taken aback by her sudden outburst and is at a loss for words. "I... ummm.. what are you saying exactly?"
"I'm saying that I made Victor worse that he was. It's my fault he's acting like this. It's my fault that he is the way he is now. I was so consumed with jealousy that.. he no longer loved me. I.. was supposed to help him, but.. I abused my rights as his doctor.. I'm so a-a-ashamed.." Dr. Hunchkin began to stumble over her words making Dr. Lupe feel a little guilty.
"I'm such a failure.. and disgrace to my profession! Just like you said... It's all true!"
Dr. Lupe clears her throat and then tries her best to calm Dr. Hunchkin down. Although, she doesn't regret a single word she said to her, she finds the need to be sympathetic toward her. After all, a few tears begin to trickle down her face, and the way she 's speaking seems to be genuine.
"Linda, you don't have to do this. I-"
"Ummm, excuse me, ma'am."
From behind, Dr. Lupe hears a male voice and feels a touch on her shoulder. When she turns to see who it is, it's an uniformed police officer. She notes that his uniform is a bit small for him and that his hat is obscuring the view of his face. On top of his uniform being small for his body, it has a few tears here and there and a few red stains on the front. Although she finds him overwhelmingly suspicious, she can't exactly call him out on it.
"Mm.. yes, can I help you with something?"
"Yes, I heard from Amy's friends that she's staying in your medical office."
"That's correct."
"I would like to speak to her if you don't mind. Privately, if you would. I need to clarify a few things about the incident and her assailant."
"Well, can you show me your badge? Just for the safety of my patient. She's been through so much as it is, and I don't want anything else happening to her."
Dr. Lupe is half expecting him to refuse. However, he shows her the badge from his pocket. Unfortunately for her, the badge doesn't show a picture, but it does look very authentic. The name on the badge is Brad Fullmore.
"Brad Fullmore?"
"Yes, that's my name, ma'am. Been in law enforcement for the past five years." His calm, cool, and collected demeanor squashes most of her suspicion of him. However, she still finds him a tad bit suspect. Against her better judgement, Dr. Lupe sees no other choice than to allow him access to her office to speak with Amy.
"Well, okay, but only for a few minutes. She's resting in the back room and may be sleeping. In that case, you'll have to come back later."
"Thank-you. It'll only take just a minute."
"Alright, I'll be right behind you."
Dr. Lupe opens the door and allows him inside. She's about to follow him inside when she feels a tug on her arm. It's Dr. Hunchkin. She's completely forgot that she and her were talking before they were interrupted by the police officer.
"W-wait! I'm not finished, Regina!"
"Okay, but only a few more minutes, alright? I have to go in and make sure Amy's alright."
Dr. Hunchkin breathes a sigh of relief and pulls Dr. Lupe a small distance away from her office door. "If you don't mind, I would rather not anyone hear our conversation."
"O-kay.."
Inside of Dr. Lupe's office...
The officer looks behind him and notices the doctor is distracted. He then takes a quick look around the medical office and sets his eyes on a door in the back. Swiftly, but quietly, he makes his way towards it, opens it, and steps inside. He looks around for a second and sets his eyes firmly on a sleeping body laying in one of the three beds there. A mischievous smirk grows on his face as he walks slowly toward the bed.
Hearing noise in the room, Amy groans in her sleep and slowly opens her eyes. "D-Dr. Lupe.."
"No, my angel.."
Amy tries to pick up her body from the bed to see who the person is, but because of her blurred vision and foggy mind, she is unable to. "W-who are you? Sonic... is that you?"
The sound of that name makes the officer cringe in distaste, but he quickly shakes it off. "Y-y-yes.. I'm here to take you away from here to some place safe."
"Back to our.. c-cabin."
"Yes."
"B-b-b-but.. Dr. Lupe said she wants me... m-me.. to s-staaaaay here.." Amy is so out of breath that she has to stop to catch her breath. The officer takes the opportunity to bend down next to her. Looking at him, his blue uniform causes her to mistake him for her boyfriend.
"Sonic? It's... you.."
"Yeah, the doctor said you are all better now, so.. let's go. I'll carry you, alright, angel?"
"O...kay..."
Yes,
My precious, precious angel...
I finally have you within my grasps again, and this time..
I'm NOT letting you go!
Without hesitating, the officer lifts the pink hedgehog into his arms. Unable to realize what's going on and who exactly it is she's speaking with, Amy only lays her head on his chest and rests. Stealthily, the officer leaves the patient room and listens through the door. Outside, it sounds like Dr. Lupe and Dr. Hunchkin are far away from the office. This is his opportunity to escape without the doctor noticing right away. He carefully pushes open the door and sees that Dr. Hunchkin crying uncontrollably on Dr. Lupe's shoulder.
"Nice performance.." The officer quickly mutters before turning down the hall and disappearing from view. Dr. Hunchkin opens one eye and manages to see a blue figure disappear around the corner. Automatically, she removes herself from Dr. Lupe's shoulder and straightens herself up.
"Anyway, I think I should go now. Thanks for listening, Regina, and making me realize how much wrong I have done in my life."
"Umm... you're welcome?"
Dr. Hunchkin smiles sheepishly before turning to go leaving Dr. Lupe confused about what just happened. For the last ten minutes, Dr. Hunchkin was going on and on about how sorry she was, how bad she felt for everything that's happened up until now, and how much she wanted to apologize to everyone. Then all of a sudden her tears disappear, and she's okay now.
"What.. a strange woman.." Dr. Lupe shakes her head and crosses her arms. "I'll never understand what's going in her head. I doubt she even knows herself!"
But still...
Why would she do this right now?
So suddenly.. after what I said to her and what she said to me.
Does she really feel this way or was it all a lie, but if that's the case, why?
"Damn! I almost forgot about that police officer. I hope he didn't wake her up!" Quickly Dr. Lupe enters the medical officer and goes toward the backroom. She knocks on the door before entering to alert the policeman inside that she's coming in.
"Hello, officer? I'm coming in!"
Once inside, a look of horror spreads across her face. The room is completely empty. The officer and Amy are no where to be found.
"AMY!"
She's gone!
What the hell is going on here?
Where the hell is she!?

A/N: First off, I just realized that I started this story in 2012 and now, it's almost 2015. That's getting close to over two years more or less, and I'm so surprised people are still reading this story~ :D
Secondly, I haven't expressed enough how much I appreciate the love and the want for more chapters of this story. I do apologize for the six or seven months delay in updating it. As you all may or may not know, I'm in college and on track to obtain a degree in nursing. College work comes first, and that's why I haven't been able to update in such a long time. Biology and Anatomy courses are hard as hell! Luckily, I was able to finish with a "B", so yay me.
And finally, during my Winter Break, I'll be trying to update this again and my other stories as well, if you read those. Other than that, I hope you all enjoyed! It's been a while since I've written anything, so hopefully, this isn't too bad. I actually wrote another version of this chapter but I ended up writing it over and in a different way. So tell me what you think!
