"Amnesia, darling, if you would just let me inside your head, this would go much faster," the grandmaster comments, incredibly annoyed as the silver haired girl in question glares at him.
"I could say the same to you. We wouldn't be overheard either," she counters her eyes shifting to where Loki is lounging. She's told him all about the trickster but he doesn't care that much.
"Oh don't worry dear, I'm not limited like you are. Now, where were we?"
"You were talking about special talents. You're a bit of a mind reader and if you want someone dead or alive you can make it happen by sheer force of will. You're one of the most powerful elders and some of that should have rubbed off on me but it's been a long time so you don't remember what. Tivan, your brother, might know more but you don't know where he is. Probably hiding out on some travesty of a planet with his growing collection. I should be immortal, I should be more durable, I should be able to manipulate more than just energy, and you don't know how those humans did such a number on me."
He narrows his eyes and analyzes his daughter trying to figure out if she was sassing him or not. He wishes they were more different. That she was less stubborn and more trusting because that was all him. Her brain was him too but that wasn't important at the moment. He wanted to trust her, but he didn't know what she wanted. She was his blindside and he didn't want her to know that because what if he can't trust her.
Amnesia meets his eyes with boredom in her own. She knows this will be a stalemate for quite some time. The only thing he's got is knowledge, and for the first time in her life, Amnesia doesn't care enough to have it. She doesn't trust him anyways. He's a strategist and she's a weapon, she knows he only wants to use her and that's nothing new so she keeps closed off. She wouldn't let him guilt her into helping him out with anything.
"Right," he says slowly. "Now then... onto the watchers."
Amnesia glares at the Valkyrie as she lies flat on her back on the mat below her. It's been two weeks of training and Amnesia was still getting tossed around like a rag doll when she wasn't using her multiple abilities.
"You should put the rock away, it's only hindering you," Brynhildr says grabbing another drink.
"And where would I put it? I can slide it up my wrist a bit but nothing more," Amnesia states absently as she calculates how the next match will go in her head.
"If that's the case I don't know how much better you'll get at hand to hand combat. You're stronger though and your endurance has improved. Not good enough but you've improved."
"I'll never be good like that. But I need to improve on the aspects of fighting even if my skill will never be up to par. How'd scrapping go yesterday?" Amnesia asks changing the subject as they start to circle one another again.
"Found something. Should be a good fight tonight," she replies making the first move that Amnesia dodges.
"The hulk is invincible. He's also morally good for the most part. He's stupid but he's a good mind. These death matches do nothing but bad for him in the long run," Amnesia states as she gets a few hits in. She knows Brynhildr is holding back, she always has but Amnesia holds back too by not letting her abilities dictate her actions.
"Not this time," she says. "He was an Asgardian. He'll hold up just fine."
"Blond hair?" Amnesia asks throwing some more punches just to get knocked back on the ground. She gets up quickly though in a fluid movement.
"Yes. Red cape."
"I better go find him," she mutters forgetting about their session all together. "I already wired you the units."
Brynhildr sighs but doesn't stop the girl she just walks out of the room and goes to the bar, intent on getting a drink and watching the fight. She has to remind herself not to get attached. It's easy though, with Amnesia.
Meanwhile, Amnesia stalks to the Grandmaster's main hall. She's been avoiding him. He's telepathic and although it is harder for him to read her because of the speed at which thoughts come and go in her head, she doesn't want him knowing she intends to leave. He definitely won't let her. He's started grooming her to be more like him or is trying at the very least well, possibly. He probably just wants the stone.
She's found she doesn't like him that much. He's too passive and incredibly manipulative. She doesn't like that he keeps bringing up his own prowess at certain activities either and really doesn't like how much he likes Loki. She found him good for information though, he had loads of it and although he couldn't confirm certain details about how she managed to get to Earth from Knowhere, he supplied what might've happened and that was enough for her.
The story of how he got to Sakaar was not often shared, but he shared it with her, and she knew he was sincere, everything he said about her was. Especially the watchers. He felt it necessary she knew about the watchers but wouldn't tell her why. Well, not that he wouldn't. It just seemed like something maybe he didn't know. He wanted her to stay. Not out of fatherly love, but more so because that was what was supposed to happen. She was another prize to add to his collection, another champion. Amnesia had no intention to stay here and be collected.
He was like his brother in that way. When they saw something valuable, they did anything to possess it. The grandmaster couldn't just have the stone in Amnesia's hand, he could have both of them. That wasn't something he would ever pass up.
Amnesia got the great hall too late, everyone had already went to the stadium, and so she broke off to the grandmaster's box, wondering all the while what Loki would think. He probably knew his brother was alive. He possibly knew the whole time and just lied to Amnesia because he could. At least she knew not to trust him.
She made it just in time to see her father introducing the Hulk. She smiled seeing Thor in the middle of the ring with a giant smile on his face when he recognized the Hulk. She snuck a glance at Loki to see him go pale.
"What? Didn't know the big guy was here?" She asks him.
"I have to get off this planet," he mumbles and Amnesia laughs and watches the Hulk to see if he'd fight Thor.
"I thought you said he was dead?" Amnesia asks her eyes trained on the used to be blond.
"Our sister came back. Pushed us both off the bifrost. I thought he was," Loki says emotionlessly.
They watch wordlessly as the fight goes back and forth before leaning more towards Thor. Thor is about to deliver a blow that will most definitely pull Banner back to the spotlight when Amnesia realizes she needs to interfere. If Banner comes back in front of everyone, he'll be entirely too vulnerable. She's too late though as the grandmaster zaps him with a control disk. Hulk gets up and jumps high up in the air and before he met the ground Amnesia appeared out of nowhere, drawing in half the energy in the stadium and creating an energy absorbing barrier protecting both of the competitors and causing a giant boom to ripple through the air and leave the audience stunned. She slowly straightens up, fighting the wave of fatigue that's encouraging her to pass out like the Hulk and Thor did. She runs her thumb over the stone hiding her confusion about what just happened and then walks off, issuing the silent warning that both are hers.
Topaz finds her when she's about to enter her room. "You've overstepped," she says reprimanding the girl.
"What's he gonna do? Melt me? Topaz, you don't frighten me, and frankly, right now my father doesn't either. This is a battle he will not win," Amnesia mutters putting on a face that would make her soldier proud. She walks into her room without another word leaving an angry Topaz outside.
She passes out immediately. She wakes up in a different room, this one not nearly as nice as the one she went to sleep in. This was... she assumed a cell going by the lack of objects in it. She drew power in making her eyes turn white and tried to figure out where the door was. She found it and after sending a shit ton of current through it, she was able to get control of the lock and open it no problem.
She knew why she was in the cell. Topaz told her she had crossed the line. However, they did not realize that Amnesia didn't care whatsoever. She left for the penthouse of the tower, Hulk's room, certain that the thunder god would be there. She got there as she saw Brynhildr grab the Hulk for training. She ducked out of the way so neither would notice her and then proceeded to the room where Thor stood looking out at Sakaar.
"Thor," she greets causing the man to turn to her. Wearing golden eyes that aren't his.
"Amnesia Barnes?" He greets with no preamble. Amnesia tilts her head in question surprised that he knew her and analyzing the conversation he had going in his head. A minute later the gold disappears and is replaced by the blue she knew from pictures.
"We need to go through a portal," he supplies. "That one," he adds pointing to the biggest one.
"That's a collapsing neutron star. I don't know if any ship of the grandmaster's will make that jump. How do you know me? The avengers didn't find me until you were long gone."
"Heimdall sees all. He knew you. He said I could trust you."
"Cool, I don't have to convince you."
"As for ships, Banner crash landed in a quinjet," he adds pointing out the small ship in the piles of junk.
"Looks a bit beat up," Amnesia murmurs. "I'll go check it out and make sure it's in working order. I'll set your brother up to distract the grandmaster while I'm at it. You try to convince the Hulk to our side. He doesn't want to leave but something is coming, we will need his help."
"Well that's a good plan except for this. The woman who brought me in, she can get it off," Thor says gesturing to the control disk on his neck.
Amnesia nods then steps up onto the chair he's standing next to, to get a better look at it. Thor chuckles when he notices what she's doing. "May I?" She asks before making any attempt to get it off of him.
"Be my guest," he replies taking his time to analyze her. She's as pale as ever, her skin tone slightly more peachy than her white/silver hair. Her eyes are dark grey and match the weird vibranium covered object in her hand. She's got a very thin form covered in lean muscle. Thor was afraid that if he accidentally bumped into her she'd go flying.
Amnesia frowns sending a quick glance to the vibranium covered stone in her hand before slipping it into her pocket for the first time since landing on Sakaar. She knows Thor is a good guy and won't take it from her. She lightly touches the disk on his neck and frowns as she goes through the systems getting a feel for how it works. She sends a glance to Thor's face to see him staring at her through the corner of his eye. She's reminded of her James. She drains the power out of the disk and expects it to pop out since it's dead but it doesn't.
"Good news and bad news. Good news you've got about six to eight hours until it powers back up and can zap you again. Bad news, it's on an independent energy cycle that draws from you so I can't stop it without killing you and I'm not sure I could bring you back to life either. We will need to get one of the control remotes from either Brynhildr or the grandmaster. The grandmaster is out of the question because he's telepathic and I'm not sure how good you are at hiding your thoughts. I'm avoiding a lecture and a brawl so I won't be running into him either. Tomorrow."
"Heimdall said you know the Avengers?" Thor asks changing the subject and stepping away from her.
"Yes. I was locked away in a Hydra base and they saved me a few years ago. I was there when the accords went down and tore them apart. Tony, Rhodes, and Vision are the only ones left at the compound. Everyone else is in hiding. Clint is under house arrest. Something is coming, Thor, and it's not good."
"Ragnorak," Thor surmises. "I've already lost my father to it. My sister came back, destroyed my hammer and is ransacking Asgard. The only thing keeping her from destroying the realms is the bi-frost but Heimdall can't hide forever."
"Then let's go to Asgard first."
"How did you get here?" Thor asks going to sit on the steps and yank on the control disk. Amnesia observes him from her spot on the chair. She draws the grimstone from her pocket and holds it up for him to observe.
"I created this to serve as an energy dead-zone. That way if someone came to Earth looking to use an infinity stone like the tesseract as a weapon, I could render it useless. I was testing it with Vision, and I think it drew in the power of the mindstone and transported me across the universe. Landing here was just chance. It's how I was able to interfere last night."
"Why did you?"
"The hulk is the grandmaster's prized champion. If you managed to draw out Banner, you would immediately put him in danger. The Hulk also seemed quite content to let you die. Couldn't have that now could we?" Amnesia replies with a raised eyebrow.
