Chapter 21: Don't Worry, I'm Here

Since arriving at the hospital, Serenity and Seto had been there for 5 hours as of now. Right now, it was 11pm and Serenity was taking slow, deep breaths as contractions would come and go. Seto was holding her hand, rubbing small circles on her knuckles while Mokuba sat in the corner.

Her doctored entered the room with a small smile on his face." Well, Serenity, you are in labor, but you aren't fully dilated to give birth. I estimate you'll be in labor for about 17 to 24 hours, though. You could be giving birth sometime around tomorrow," Dr. Herman told her." You are quite lucky, though. Some woman can be in labor for days and still not be ready to give birth."

Serenity gave the doctor a grin while brushing he strands of hair sticking to her face away." Don't worry," she breathed." I can bear with it. This is my first child after all."

"Oh, and, Mr. Kaiba, try to comfort Serenity through her worst hours of labor. It could help a little," he smiled before exiting the room.

"Don't worry, Serenity," Mokuba started," If you ever need anything, Uncle Mokuba is here to help you with that little monkey inside your belly."

The pregnant woman let out a laugh." Sure, Mokuba."

In the waiting room, Yugi, Joey, Mai, and the rest of the gang were in the waiting room, seeing as they weren't allowed in there yet.

"I'm really worried for Serenity. I hope she's okay." Mai sighed.

Joey leaned back in his chair, folding his arms across his chest and looking at his wife." Jeez! Maybe Serenity should have waited to have kids. This is just too much for her! She can't candle giving birth!"

Mai furrowed her eyebrows." Oh, stop it! You're the one who can't handle it!"

The blond man sat back up in his chair, raising an eyebrow at Mai." Handle what?" he asked.

"Handle the fact that your sister is growing up!" she says right in his face, annoyed at the fact that Joey was still treating Serenity as if she was still a little girl.

"Umm, guys," Yugi intervened, standing up from his sit." Please calm down. I know you're both worried for Serenity, but fighting won't help. She could be giving birth in a couple of hours and I know she wants both of your support. For your sister, Joey, and for your sister-in-law, Mai, make her happy."

The blonde couple sighed before smiling and giving Yugi a nod.

Meanwhile, in their room, Seto was doing his best to comfort Serenity during the worst hours of labor as the doctor had warned him. Mokuba went out, due to not being able to take her groaning, moaning, and screaming.

"AGH! It hurts!" Serenity cried out, squeezing Seto's hand. She let out a deep gasp, seat running down her peach skin.

Seto tried to think of a way to calm her down. Maybe starting a conversation would help." Serenity, you know I love you, right?"

She let out a breath, squirming before answering," Yeah, I-I know."

"So you'll be able to get through this? To give birth to our very child? You can be a happy mother as you always wanted," he said.

The young woman let a small smile cross her face, but not before another streak of pain crossed." Ugh! Ha! Ahhhh…. Y-Yes… Even… in… th-this pain, I-I can't wait to b-be a mother. This child will b-be apart o-o-of our family. The thr- AGH! It hurts!"

She leaned back, her hands gripping both sides of her swollen belly. She breathed out the rest of her sentence," But yeah… The three of us… Together."

Seto hated to watch Serenity in pain like this. Even if she was just going to be giving birth to their future child soon, he knew it hurt, but Serenity was strong. She could get through this.

She was still having a hard time, though, as she suddenly gripped his hand.

"Serenity, just relax," Seto said.

She threw a quick glare at him while breathing deeply." Easy for you to say! You're not the on-" she was cut off, suddenly letting out another scream." Oh! This has got to be the worst pain I've felt…" Serenity said, hot tears running down her cheeks.

Seto rubbed her belly, placing a kiss on his wife's forehead.
