"You Want Fires With That?"

"So what's the story on this hamburger village?" Takuya asked.
"It's a hamburger lover's paradise, my boy." Bokomon said.
"Sounds great." Zoe gushed.
"Bring on the beef, baby!" Takuya cheered.
"I can't wait. I'm dying of starvation here!" Daisuke smiled.
"Yeah, I'm gonna eat my body weight, maybe even all of ours in burgers." JP said with a bit of drool dripping from his mouth.
It had been a few days now since the group had been able to eat anything and now they were being taken to a village where they would be able to eat as much as they want for free.
Everyone was very excited.
The Trailmon then pulled up to a village that was in the middle of a dust storm and Takuya pulled his goggles over his eyes while everyone else squinted as they tried to navigate their way into town.
As the group walked on, they made their way to a village that looked to be abandoned, but there was a female Digimon sitting at a table outside of a restaurant.
Six winged round Digimon were floating around her as she seemed to be sobbing into her hands.
"Momma!" The baby Digimon cried.
"What's up with them?" Takuya asked.
"Um, excuse me, are you all right?" Zoe asked as she ran over to the table.
"Oh, no dear. A giant Digimon raided our village. He said something about the three moons making him hungry, so my husband gave him a big plate of our best burgers." Momma Burgermon said tearfully.
"Now I'm hungry." Takuya commented.
"He liked them so much that he took my husband away to cook for him in his mansion." Momma Burgermon cried.
"Wow." Tommy said.
"Are you serious?" Daisuke blinked in surprise.
"That is messed up." Koji frowned.
"Yeah, how're we supposed to get our hamburgers now?" JP asked.
Frowning at the male's lack of consideration, Daisuke elbowed JP in the side making him yelp at the sudden attack.
"What?" He yelped as he rubbed his sore side.
"Your compassion is astounding." Bokomon drawled as he and Neemon looked at JP.
"Daddy is coming back, isn't he, Momma?" One of the babies asked his mother.
"Isn't he, Momma?" The others asked.
Glancing at her children, Momma Burgermon didn't answer since she wasn't sure if their father would be returned home.
Instead, she turned her attention onto the group of humans in front of her.
"Please young man, would you and your friends be able to help me find my husband?" Momma Burgermon asked as she stood up.
"I suppose, but I wouldn't even know where to begin looking for him." Takuya told her.
"The monster said he'd bring Daddy back if we make a begger burger." One of the TorikaraBallmon said.
"He means a better burger, but I'm afraid that's impossible. My husband makes the best burgers around. There's no way anyone can make a better hamburger than my husband. Oh dear, what're we going to do?" Momma Burgermon whimpered.
"The monster said that to get Daddy back, we have to have the better burger ready before he moves three times." The first TorikaraBallmon said.
"No, silly! He said before the three moons align. That's soon." The second TorikaraBallmon informed.
"He's right. We must do something. The three moons align by nightfall and the Chamelemon will be back for their master's burger." Momma Burgermon said sadly.
Zoe then grew determined as she turned to face the rest of the Warriors.
"Then it's up to us. We can make a better burger." She announced.
The boys all looked a bit stunned by what the blonde had said while Daisuke seemed to be a bit excited.
"Come on, I think we've scarfed enough burgers in our time to be able to come up with something that at least looks right. And when the Chamelemon take it to the mansion, we'll follow them." Zoe explained.
"That's a nice plan." JP commented.
"Except that I've never cooked before." Koji said as he then shared a look with the confused goggle head.
"Me neither, but I'm willing to try." Takuya spoke up.
"Me too. I always used to watch my mom cook back home." Tommy said.
"This'll be great. Bugers are the easiest thing to make." Daisuke grinned confidently since she had some experience with preparing meals.
When she and Jun were younger, their mother had taught them both how to cook.
"Don't worry, we'll make the best hamburger ever and get your daddy back." Tommy assured the Torikaraballmon.
"I think this will be a good experience for us." Zoe said.
"Anything with food is a good experience for me." JP smiled.
"Yeah, especially when it's burgers." Tommy grinned.
"Yeah!" The Torikaraballmon all cheered.
"I don't even know what's in them. I guess I'll have to make it up." Takuya said with a confused look.
"That's the whole idea. We can each make one and have judges taste them." Tommy suggested.
"Now this is gonna be fun." Daisuke grinned.
"Now, Takuya, this will be a friendly competition, right?" Zoe asked as she gave the goggle head a stern look.
"You worry too much, Zoe." Takuya told her.
"Yeah, no problem." Koji smiled.
"Yeah right." Daisuke and JP muttered as they shared a look.
They highly doubted the two rivals would be able to make the burgers without it turning into a huge 'I'm better than you' competition between them.
"We may be a little rough, but we're ready." Zoe said as she turned to the Burgermon family.
"Yay!" The babies cheered.
"Oh, thank you so much." Momma Burgermon said bowing her head with a smile.
"Why don't I be your taster? It would be an honor to lend my superior palate to such a noble cause, so bring on the beef, baby!" Bokomon grinned.
"That just means you wanna eat." Neemon teased making the humans all laugh.
"My kitchen is fully stocked, so help yourself to anything you need. Now let's get cooking." Momma Burgermon said as the group all cheered.
Taking the group inside her restaurant, Momma Burgermon then had the humans all wash their hands and gave them aprons to use to keep their clothes clean.
Shedding off her sweater, Daisuke then put on her apron and then took the bandana out of the bow it was in so that she could tie her hair up properly.
Combing her fingers through her chin length hair, the girl then tied the back up into a short ponytail while her bangs had been brushed off to the side out of her face.
Zoe had also found a pink ribbon and used it to tie up the back of her long golden hair up into a ponytail while she brushed the front part of her hair behind her ears so they wouldn't get in the way of her cooking.
Once everyone was ready, they were shown to their stations and found all kinds of fruits, vegetables, meat, condiments and dressings placed out for them to use in their creations.
"Oh, man. I'm ready to chow right now!" JP said as he grabbed an apple and started munching on it.
"Hey, save some ingredients for cooking." Zoe scolded.
"Yes, ma'am." He mumbled over the piece of fruit in his mouth.
"All this food is making me drool." Neemon said.
"Yes, but must you do it on me?" Bokomon groaned.
"It looks like some of them have never even seen a kitchen before." One of the babies commented.
Koji then walked over to his station with a platter filled with shrimp, lobster and squid.
"Hmm, I suppose you can never have too much meat." Takuya mused as he glanced over the selection of meat in front of him.
Humming, Daisuke then walked over to the table and gathered up some beef and bacon before she then walked back over to her station with a curious Takuya watching her.
"Hey, Z, what kind are you gonna make?" JP asked as he saw the blonde gathering some vegetables.
"Patience is a virtue. You'll see." She said playfully before walking to her station.
"Smart, beautiful and confident in the kitchen. Can a girl get any better than that?" The heavyset boy gushed.
"All right! Meaty meat burger. Some of this, maybe some of that and I'm gonna make me a masterpiece. Meat, meat, meat, meat." Takuya chanted as he gathered up different types of meat and started off to his own station.
"That might work." One of the babies said.
Singing softly under her breath, Daisuke started cutting a lettuce head with a large knife as one of the Torikaraballmon hovered beside her.
"You sure seem confident." He commented.
"Of course I am! This isn't the first time I've cooked, ya know. Besides, burgers are just as much fun to make as they are to eat." Daisuke winked.
Tommy hadn't started on his own burgers yet since he was staring at the two pieces of buns he was holding with a frown on his face.
"You look lost." One of the babies said.
"You need help?" The second asked.
"Well, the outside looks fine, but I'm not sure what to put in the middle yet." The nine year old said making the babies fall to the ground in disbelief.
"I'm thinking ground beef. Oh, yeah. Now I remember. Mom said onions gave it flavour." Tommy said as he started peeling an onion and two of the Torikaraballmon watched.
"Oh, boy. Here come the tears." Tommy whimpered as tears fell down his face as his eyes stung from the onion.
The Torikaraballmon both sweat dropped at the boy.
"It all came apart and there's nothing inside!" Tommy gasped at the pieces of onions that laid on the counter.
"That is the inside!" One of the babies told him.
"We'll never get to see Daddy again!" The two brothers cried as they hugged each other.
"Never fear, the blade is here!" Tommy announced cheerfully holding up a very large knife.
"AAAHHH!" The two babies screamed as they flew off as the boy then started chopping the onion into smaller bits.
"My children can't stop crying." Momma Burgermon said as she stood beside Tommy.
"Yeah, neither can I. Cooking's painful." Tommy wiped his eyes.
"Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah." JP grinned as he fried the meat in a frying pan while Zoe chopped a tomato.
Takuya made karate yells as he tossed a burger patty back and forth in his hands.
"Easy as pie." Takuya grinned over at Koji, but then he groaned as he lost his grip on the meat and grabbed it before it fell.
Koji laughed at him as he tugged on the squid he held, but then frowned when he pulled it apart.
"Keep up the good work, guys." Daisuke laughed as she slapped the beef into patties.
"My eyes hurt!" Tommy whined as he carried the onions and wiped his eyes as he accidentally dropped the onions in JP's hard boild eggs.
"Huh? Oh man, not in my boild eggs!" JP whined.
"I'm so sorry." Tommy said as as rinsed off his onions and backed up as he tried to shake them dry, but tripped and dropped the onions in the white dressing that Zoe was making.
"Oh no!" Tommy gasped.
"Tommy, that was my salad dressing." Zoe cried as she turned to him.
"Do you know what you're doing?" A Torikaraballmon asked as Tommy walked back over to his station.
"Pretty clutzy." The second Torikaraballmon commented.
"Hey, Tommy, you okay?" Daisuke asked as she walked over to check on the boy.
She had the patties cooking now and had made sure the grill was set on low so it didn't burn while her back was turned.
"Yeah, I'm okay. I'm just having a bit of trouble." He told the girl.
"I noticed. Don't feel bad though. Everyone makes mistakes when they first start cooking. I mean, I acidentally set the stove on fire once when I was a kid." Daisuke revealed.
"You did?" Tommy asked in surprise.
"It was my first time trying to cook and I didn't notice the oven mit was on the grill. My point is, cooking is a hard thing to do when you first start out. You're gonna make a lot of mistakes. You just have to keep trying until you get it right." Daisuke grinned as she pat Tommy's head.
Smiling at the talk he had with the older girl, Tommy nodded as he then turned his attention to the onions he was now holding.
"Right, I just have to keep trying. But I wonder if I can still use these." He mused.
"It doesn't look like anything's wrong with them." Daisuke commented.
Tommy then tried a piece of the onions and his eyes got wide at the taste that had been created by his accidents.
"Hey, it's pretty good." Tommy blinked.
"Wow, Tommy, you invented a new flavour." Torikaraballmon exclaimed.
"What was in that dressing?" Tommy asked.
"I don't know, but it sure made a difference." Torikaraballmon said.
"See? You're gonna be fine. I better get back before my food burns. Good luck." Daisuke said as she went back over to her station.
Afterwards, all the burgers were cooked and the Digimon all looked them over as they were lined up.
"So, do you think they're edible?" Torikaraballmon1 asked.
"I'm not gonna try it. You try it." Torikaraballmon2 told him.
"I'm not gonna try it. Let's go." Torikaraballmon1 said.
"Meat loaf and yakisoba noodles! Ladies and gentlemen, an exotic combination for a new generation." JP held out one of his burgers.
"Well, JP, I'm surprised. It's actually edible." Bokomon smiled as he took a bite of the burger.
"Here, try my burger italiano with cheese, tomatoes and lots of fresh chopped mushrooms." Zoe said as Neemon started scarfing three at once.
"Taste like chicken." He said.
"My burger is a classic. It has bacon, lettuce, swiss cheese, tomatoes, chopped onions and mayonnaise." Daisuke grinned as she held one of her burgers.
Bokomon and Neemon both smiled as they took a bite out of the burgers they picked up, enjoying the taste.
"Very well done." Bokomon commented.
"Yummy!" Neemon chirped.
Reluctantly, the two Rookies then walked over to the tables that held the burgers made by Koji and Takuya while Daisuke took a seat and decided to try one of her friends' burgers while Zoe and JP did the same.
After all, they were starving and there were enough burgers for everyone to eat.
"Are those supposed to be hamburgers?" Bokomon asked.
"I think I saw one move!" Neemon wailed.
"Are you going to take a bite?" Bokomon asked as he stared at Takuya's platter.
"If they don't bite first." Neemon retorted as he stared down at Koji's selection.
"Mine's the meaty meat burger. Steak, pork cutlet and ground beef. I was going for volume." Takuya explained.
"My deep sea burger has lobster, scallops and shrimp." Koji said.
The two Digimon whined as they each took one of the burgers and started chewing, both looking close to throwing up.
Neemon's lips were even turning black from the squid in the deep sea burger.
"And I topped it all off with some sardines and peanut butter." Takuya chirped.
"My special sauce is made with pureed squid and white chocolate." Koji grinned.
"DISGUSTING!" Neemon and Bokomon yelled as they fell back.
This stunned the two boys as they then grabbed one of their own burgers and tried them which caused them both to blanch in disgust.
Turning to each other, they shoved their burgers into the other boys's mouth before they then groaned as their lips were stained black.
"Hmm, interesting. Is this one yours, Tommy?" Neemon asked as he looked over the pile of burgers the youngest Warrior had made.
"Why, does it look bad?" Tommy asked.
"No, we just needed a break after the last ones." Bokomon told him.
"Or get our stomachs pumped." The bunny said as Momma Burgermon walked over to them.
"Would you like some fresh tea?" She asked.
"Yeah." Tommy nodded.
"Why don't we all take a short break? I'll bring your drinks outside for you in a minute." Momma Burgermon smiled as she walked off.
"These smell good, Tommy. Let's give them a try." Zoe said as she picked up the platter of Tommy's burgers and started heading for the door with the babies flapping after her.
"Hey, Zoe, I'll taste 'em too." JP called as he ran after the girl.
Daisuke took her apron off and then started to reach for her sweater when she heard the two rivals talk.
"It wasn't really that bad. Mine was better." The two males muttered.
"Huh?" They asked as they turned to face each other with looks of disbelief.
"What're you talking about, Takuya? Yours was horrible." Koji exclaimed.
"At least mine was edible. Yours even smells bad. You just about killed Bokomon and Neemon!" Takuya yelled.
"Maybe we should have a rematch then." Koji glared at him.
"Fine, anytime. You'll loooooose." The goggle head said turning his back on his rival to start cooking.
"Yeah, right. In your dreams botulism boy." The lone wolf retorted.
"I knew this was going to happen." Daisuke sighed as she grabbed her sweater and walked out of the room.
Once outside she took her hair out of the ponytail it was in and let her mahogany locks fall to her shoulders as she then started braiding her bangs.
Zoe had taken the ribbon out of her hair as well and placed her hat back on her head as everyone sat down to enjoy the burgers.
"Hey, where are Takuya and Koji?" The blonde asked.
"They're trying to kill Bokomon and Neemon with their terrible cooking." Daisuke stated.
"Aw, they're making more of those nasty burgers of theirs? I almost feel sorry for those guys." JP said.
Zoe shuddered at the thought of the Warriors of Light and Flame's cooking as Daisuke sat down beside Tommy.
"Okay, so let's see how good these things taste." Daisuke grinned as she picked up on of Tommy's burgers.
Taking a bite out of the burger, the girl hummed in thought as she took in the taste before she then swallowed the chewed up bite.
"Not bad for your first try." Daisuke winked playfully at the little boy.
Tommy blushed at the praise, happy that someone enjoyed the food he had made.
"Gee, thanks. I was worried everyone would think they tasted bad." Tommy rubbed the back of his neck.
Grabbing one of the burgers, JP took a large bite out of it and a smile appeared on his face as he chewed it up, enjoying the taste.
Zoe reached out to grab a burger, but frowned.
"Hey, we don't have any napkins." She said.
"I'll go get 'em." Daisuke said as she popped the rest of her burger in her mouth before she then walked back into the restaurant.
Stepping into the restaurant, Daisuke glanced over the kitchen and was stunned to see Takuya and Koji were mixing together all types of strange looking recipes for their burgers.
Bokomon and Neemon were whining in misery, hating the fact that they were being forced to try the horrible food that the boys were cooking up.
"What is that gross smell?" Daisuke asked as her nose curled up in disgust.
"Takuya and Koji's cooking, that's what." Bokomon said.
"Ugh! Just what are they trying to do? Give everyone food poisoning?" Daisuke stuck her tongue out.
Momma Burgermon, who had finished brewing up a pot of tea, walked over to the girl and smiled up at her.
"Oh, calm down, my dear. It's their first time cooking. They're still learning. And everyone tries to make up their own recipies. Sometimes you have to fail about a hundred times before you eventually get it right." Momma Burgermon said.
Blinking at that in surprise, Daisuke gave the woman a small smile.
She had such a kind aura around her.
"Yeah, I guess so." The girl relented.
"Now, I better get this tea out to the others before it gets cold. Have fun, boys!" Momma Burgermon called over to the two rivals.
The Digimon then left the room while Daisuke went to go get the napkins for herself and the others to use while they were eating.
After she found the napkins, the girl ws about to rejoin her friends outside when Koji suddenly stepped in front of her, cutting off her path.
"Daisuke, I need you to try this." He said as he held up the burger he had just prepared.
Going pale at that, Daisuke stared at the burger that looked to have a slightly raw patty between the buns and was topped off with honey, vegetables and marshmellows.
"Uh..." She trailed off, unsure of how to reject the burger without hurting Koji's feelings.
"Hey, no fair! Don't drag her into this. You know she's gonna choose your burger is the best." Takuya frowned as he rushed over.
Neemon and Bokomon were leaning over the sink, washing the taste of the horrible food they had tried out of their mouths.
"Of course she's going to choose my burger, because it's the best." Koji smirked.
Gritting his teeth at that, Takuya ran over to Koji's side and shoved him aside to hold out his burger towards the girl, offering it up to her and she flinched back at the sight of it.
Takuya's burger had a charred patty that had vegetables, slightly raw bacon and dark chocolate sauce stuffed between two buns.
"My burger's the best, just try it!" Takuya insisted.
Shoving Takuya aside, Koji held his burger out.
"No, mine is." He said.
The two rivals growled at each other, sparks flying between their eyes while Daisuke backed up against a wall, feeling trapped and helpless.
Just then, the two boys turned their burning eyes onto her and she flinched back as the two burgers were shoved into her face.
"Well?!" They demanded.
Whimpering in misery, Daisuke accepted both burgers which made Bokomon gasp loudly in pure terror as he watched.
"Oh, goodness no! Don't do it! You're young, you still have so much to live for!" Bokomon cried.
Ignoring Bokomon's dramatic cries, Daisuke hesitantly took a bite out of both the burgers, her taste buds reacting badly to the taste and her face scrunched up in disgust.
Fighting off the instinct she had to gag, Daisuke forced herself to swallow the bites she had taken which made Takuya and Koji smile, thinking she had enjoyed their cooking.
"Oh, that poor dear." Bokomon fell to his knees.
"She was so brave." Neemon sniffled as he wiped away a tear.
After she swallowed the bites down, Daisuke looked exhausted and gave a shuddering breath as her stomach grumbled unhappily.
"Well, what did you think?" Koji asked.
"Which one was better?" Takuya questioned.
Opening her mouth to respond, Daisuke choked on her spit as she felt a jolt of pain in her stomach.
Feeling bile rise up her throat, the mahogany haired girl pushed the two boys aside and rushed off towards the bathroom.
Worried at this, Koji followed after the girl.
"Daisuke, are you okay?" He called after her.
Slamming the door open, Daisuke dropped to her knees and ducked her head over the toilet as she then threw up the food she had just eaten.
Bokomon and Neemon both whined in worry over the girl while Koji rushed into the bathroom, kneeling at the girl's side to rub her back.
"Takuya, go look for some medecine!" The raven haired male called.
"Uh, right! I'll go ask the Burgermon to see if she has any." Takuya said as he rushed out of the restaurant.
As he did that, Koji continued to rub Daisuke's back as she hurled the contents of her stomach into the toilet and tried to hold her hair back at the same time.
"Everyone's gone!" Takuya cried as he ran back into the restaurant.
"What do you mean they're gone? Where'd they go?" Koji frowned as he looked over at the brunette.
"I don't know. They're just not out there." Takuya exclaimed.
Standing up, Bokomon began to search around in his belly band and was mindful of Seraphimon's egg.
He walked into the bathroom and pulled out a small bottle filled with amber colored liquid.
"Here we are. This should help." Bokomon said as he handed the bottle over to Koji.
Accepting the bottle, Koji then opened it and gently pulled Daisuke into his chest, allowing her to rest her head on his shoulder as she moaned pitifully.
"Here, take a sip of this. It'll help." Koji said as he held the bottle in front of her lips.
Nose curling up, Daisuke groaned as she caught the scent of the medecine.
"Oh, that smells gross." She whined.
"I know, but you need it. Now take a sip." He said as he held the bottle up against her lips.
Whimpering, Daisuke opened her mouth and allowed Koji to pour the liquid down her throat.
Coughing at the taste, Daisuke shuddered and curled up into Koji's lap as she suddenly felt fatigue.
"The medecine will make her tired, so you should set her down to rest for now." Bokomon instructed.
"I think I saw a couch around here. Come on." Takuya said as he walked out of the room.
Gently scooping the girl up in his arms, Koji slowly stood and held Daisuke close as he carried her off somewhere for her to sleep.
(Later on...)
Zoe, Tommy and JP all came back to the restaurant and they had Papa Burgermon with them who was welcomed home by his family.
When the trio found Daisuke missing, they asked Takuya and Koji were the girl was and they led her to where the girl was sleeping.
"I can't believe you idiots made her sick! What is wrong with you?" Zoe blew up at the Warriors of Light and Flame.
"We didn't know she'd get sick from eating our food." Takuya defended.
JP and Tommy were standing around Daisuke, staring down at the girl as she slept peacefully on the couch with her sweater covering her up.
"That's no excuse!" Zoe yelled.
"Calm down. If you keep yelling at us, you'll wake her up." Koji scolded the blonde.
That made her narrow her green eyes dangerously at him which made Koji flinch back.
"Now, now. Everyone calm down. I'm sure your friend will be fine soon. For now, why don't we prepare some rooms for the rest of you. You can all stay the night." Papa Burgermon offered.
"Really?" Tommy asked the male.
"Of course. It's the least I can do after you saved me and my kids." Papa Burgermon smiled.
"Come along, children. I'll show you to your rooms." Mama Burgermon smiled as she began to lead the group off.
Smiling at this, the kids all followed after the mother and Koji glanced over his shoulder at the Warrior of Hope as he heard her muttering in her sleep.
