Chapter 21
Count Dracula, his daughter, human friend and fellow monster friends all stood motionless as they stared down the horror that was Samhain, the spirit of Halloween and hater of all things human. To him, they were practically ants or speed bumps that were in his way as he continued to glare at them with an evil look. Wayne then broke the silence with a glum face.
"Ok… we are so gonna lose…" he muttered.
"Jeez Louise! It's always the negative with you isn't it?" Eunice proclaimed.
"Look at that guy! He's huge! How are we suppose to take on that!?" Wayne exclaimed.
"With a little help, Wanda; you, Eunice and the Invisible Man head inside and try to convince the guests the aid us in our fight." Dracula ordered.
"And just how do we do that!?" The Invisible Man exclaimed.
"I don't know! Just do it! Go!" Dracula yelled.
"Alright… be careful everyone!" Wanda told them with a sad and worried look as she, Eunice and the Invisible Man all ran inside.
"So… what do we do?" Johnny asked.
"Don't worry everyone, I have a bold and daring plan!" Dracula said dramatically.
"You… do?" Frank asked, surprised as Dracula stepped forward to face Samhain, he then held up his palm like a cop would cop an incoming car.
"Stop!" he ordered. Everyone looked a bit surprised by this tactic.
"Uh… Drac? Please tell me there's more to your plan!" Murray practically.
"Dad, what are you doing?" Mavis wondered.
"Samhain, please, listen to me. Your being here is an accident, please go back to where you came from and don' t return!" Dracula told Samhain. "I am the Count Dracula and I command you to!"
Samhain just stood there silently, not moving or changing his expression, all did was emit another low growl.
"Ha-ha! Looks like you are not in charge anymore, 'Monsieur Dracula'. I am!" Quasimodo declared. "Now, Samhain; I am the one who released you from the Underworld, I hold the book of spells and I command you to…"
"SILENCE!"
The creature from the underworld's voice boomed all over the land, startling everyone present. Even Quasimodo and Mina.
Samhain pointed to Dracula. "You! You dare to control me? Me!? The Spirit of Halloween and King of the Underworld?" he demanded. "You are a complete and utter waste of vampire blood!"
Dracula seemed almost crushed by Samhain's words, though he seemed more scared then crushed at the moment.
"Yeesh, looks like someone got up on the wrong side of the whatever he slept on…." Wayne remarked.
Then Samhain turned his attention to Quasimodo, he looked especially ticked at him. "And you! A thousand years I dwelled in that abyss and you are the one to release me!? Worthless!" he cried as he then drew his arm back, preparing to strike.
Quasimodo then began to stammer with her. "N-Now Samhain… my lord… do not look at me what way… Please!" he began before Samhain's arm came straight for him. "NO!"
Samhain smacked Quasimodo hard and fast, knocking Quasimodo off the bridge and flying through the air where he flew right into the nearby lake with a big splash. Before he was thrown left behind the book the and needle containing Dracula's blood on the bridge. Everyone was a bit stunned.
"Well maybe you're not the worst boss in the world…" Gill admitted to Drac. Dracula gave him a short scowl then turned his attention back to the giant evil spirit that stood before them all.
He then turned his attention to Mina and then Johnny, who looked especially freaked out by him.
"Hmm, this is world is still infested with humans… such filthy creatures."
"Hey!" Johnny and Mina protested.
Mavis stepped forward. "Alright, what's your problem? What do you have against humans anyway!?" she demanded.
"Mavy… not a good idea to tick off the angry spirit right now…" Dracula said under his breath and looking especially scared.
"Why? Why I have against humans?" Samhain echoed, with a surprisingly calm tone. "Oh I'll tell you why? You see… the world used to be a paradise. Perfect. With a single history. But with the coming of man… came chaos and everywhere they went monsters were always hunted by humans. Driven in the shadows. Families torn apart. Lives lost! And it is all your fault!"
Johnny and Mina flinch and gulped when he looked at them with a murderous look after he said that.
"Wait, Mister Samhain! Please, I am telling you humans are good now!" Dracula insisted, before glancing towards Mina. "Ok… well she isn't, but Jonathan here isn't!"
"Pity, I would have expected someone like you would understand." Samhain stated. "No matter. Man is still a cancer and I will cut the disease."
"Wait… are you actually planning on killing…" Frank began.
"Every human on the planet. Yes." Samhain confirmed. "It is the only way to ensure our survive and regain our paradise. Your welcome."
"You're mad!" Dracula exclaimed.
"It doesn't really matter what you think." Samhain stated as he began to stomp towards them, they began to back away a bit as he came closer and closer to them. "If you wish not fight back I understand… but I am going to destroy this hotel and everyone in it no matter what!"
The demonic spirit then turned his attention to a now terrified Mina.
"But first… I'm going to need a more physical body… someone more… interesting for you all to fight!" he said as he turned to face Mina.
"Mina run!" Johnny cried, as he ran a bit towards her but he was too late.
But Mina couldn't move an inch, she was frozen in terror and was even more scared when Samhain's body slowly morphed until he became a demonic cloud with a menacing skull for a face. He let out a loud roar as he flew straight for Mina. She screamed in terror as the cloud entered body through her mouth. As he did so he caused the sky and the clouds to change color twice, ending in a gray/dark blue look, they also began swirling and rumbling with thunder and lightning. Also, as Samhain entered her body Mina's eyes and nose emitted a bright yellow light, directly before her cheeks quivered and then seemingly ripped apart. The same went for her eye sockets and chest.
There was a blinding flash of light, that everyone had to shield their eyes from and when they lowered their arms from their field of sight they saw that Mina was now changed. Her irises and pupils were now gone and were glowing brightly, her hair was wild, unkempt and spread out like electricity. She was also hovering a bit in mid air due to the yellowish electrical energy she was emitting form her palm. Mina also had a very angry look on her face. They all stood still in complete silence and shock until Johnny finally spoke.
"M-M-Mina?" Johnny finally spat out.
Mina then turned to Johnny, her voice was now a combination of hers and Samhain's. "Mina is dead. I am now the evil of Samhain, the King of the Underworld!"
"Oh no… she's possessed!" Dracula realized.
"Oh, well that's just great!" Murray complained.
"Yeah, it was bad enough she was just Johnny's psycho ex-girlfriend!" Wayne added.
"And you were responsible for that, Mavis Dracula!" Samhain/Mina shouted to the young vampire before returning her attention back to Johnny. "And you… when we first met, back when I was still an innocent… you whispered words of love to me… or do these memories deceive me?"
Johnny lowered his head shamefully. "No… they don't…"
"You said we'd be together forever… YOU LIED TO ME!" Samhain/Mina screeched, his/her hands now crackling with electrical energy.
"No! Wait I...!" Johnny began to plead. But Samhain/Mina responded to this by blasting Johnny with a electrical blast of energy that sent him flying into the brick wall of the Hotel.
"Johnny!" Mavis exclaimed, greatly concerned for her boyfriend's well being. Johnny groaned as he began to pick himself up after being hit so hard.
"Ugh… my head…" he groaned. "Did anybody get… the number of that bus?"
Samhain/Mina flew forward a bit and pointed to Johnny. "Time to die!" he/she proclaimed. Gill and Mavis then stood in the way of him/her and Johnny.
"Oh no you don't!" Gill stated.
"And guess what? You're not destroying this hotel either!" Mavis added. Frank, Murray and Wayne also stood by them.
Dracula then stood in front of all of them, pointing dramatically at Samhain/Mina. "That is right! Standing together we will defeat you!" he said.
"You are welcome to try… whelp." Samhain/Mina smirked.
Dracula and Samhain/Mina super speed towards each other. As they moved at super speed everything and everyone else around them moved very slowly. As Dracula moves, he was followed by sonic color images, in particular purple. As Samhain/Mina moved he/she was followed by yellow sonic color images. They soon collided, creating a small sonic boom. After which Dracula is thrown so violently that he crashes right into the hotel wall, even harder then Johnny. Everyone is shocked by this
"DAD!" Mavis screamed as she rushed to his side to make sure he was alright.
Drac groaned. "Oh… I am ok honey bat… I'm ok," he assured her.
They then see Samhain/Mina floating above them all with a wicked look in his/her eye.
"Or not..." he added as Samhain/Mina charged up his/her palms for an electrical attack.
He/she then fired a massive electrical blast at them all. Gill promptly extends both of his arms then suddenly water rose up from the lake and to the bridge where it created a massive shield around them, blocking the blast. Johnny and Mavis were amazed.
"Whoa! Awesome!" The human exclaimed.
"How'd you do that?" Mavis inquired.
"I learned a few while I was away, you'd be amazed at what as Gill-men can really do." The sea monster stated, as the water shield collapsed.
"Doesn't matter, you will still die! One way… or another!" Samhain declared as he began firing at them.
Inside the hotel, Eunice, Wanda and the Invisible Man ran down the hallways knocking on doors, where everyone in the hotel was hiding inside their rooms.
"Alright, rise and shine ya lazy bums!" Eunice proclaimed.
"Yeah, come on, get out of there!" The Invisible man yelled.
"Please! We need your help to stop Samhain!" Wanda pleaded.
One hotel human guest poked his head out. "What? No!"
The three of them froze in shock when he said this.
"What do you man, 'no'?" The Invisible Man questioned.
"Have you seen that thing? We can't fight that!" he proclaimed.
"Besides, why should we help him anyway?" A human woman pointed out, sourly.
"Yeah, that rat-bat hasn't paid us any attention since we've been here!" A gremlin woman stated.
"He's an arrogant piece of trash!" The gremlin woman's husband added.
"Come on, we need ya!" The unseen man said.
"But what about Mavis and Johnny?" Eunice asked. "You think they're trash too? Huh?"
"Hey, if you think we're gonna risk our lives for a bunch of monsters and some loser your dead wrong wolf lady!" Another human guest snapped.
Another explosion rocked the hotel, causing the whole place to shake and dust to fall through the cracks around and above them.
"See!? He's too powerful! Your friends are history!"
For the first time Wanda actually growled angrily. "Are you really going to let them just die out there?" she berated them.
The other guests say nothing and take cover inside their hotel rooms away from the falling dust.
Outside, the others were not fairing too well as Samhain continued to float high in the air while he/she repeatedly attacked the group with bolts of yellow energy that struck the ground like actual lightning bolts and sent some of them flying across the ground.
"Yoo-hoo, excuse me."
Samhain/Mina turned to see Dracula in bat form before he suddenly changed back and smacked the demonically possessed girl back in mid-air. Dracula then landed back on the ground rubbing his hand.
"Oh boy… that hurt!" he remarked.
Samhain/Mina's eyes flashed with anger as he/she regain his/her composure and started firing at Drac again, who began flipping around and dodging each blast as best as he could.
"Hey Samhain… Mina… or whatever your name is right now… take this!" Frank cried as he tossed a boulder at possessed girl which not only knocked him/her back but also sent him/her spinning in the air. Wayne followed by blowing a big gust of wind at the villain, sending him/her flying back even more.
"That's it! Don't give that freak a chance to fight back!" Gill exclaimed. "Keep attacking!"
Gill then launched a pressurized water blast from the port holes on his hands blasting Samhain/Mina with a torrent of water that knocked him/her back even more. He/she now looked angrier than ever.
"ENOUGH! I WILL DESTROY ALL OF YOU!" The demonic human cried as he/she flew upward and released a electrical wave that sent all the adult monsters and Mina flying into the wall of the hotel.
"No!" Johnny cried.
"Not so fast!" Gill stated, as he manipulated the water around him to begin propelling him upward as well.
"Wait for me!" Johnny called out as he hopped onto the water platform and rode up to the hotel rooftop where Samhain was hovering inches over. They soon stood on top of the roof where they stared down the so-called King of the Underworld.
Samhain/Mina chuckled psychotically. "If you'd just let me kill you all before, you wouldn't be dealing with this pain now and I promise you both this; I will wipe all these human parasites off the face of the earth starting with you… Johnny." The spirit/human said.
"Sorry chum, your gonna have to go through me first!" Gill stated as he readied himself.
"If you insist." Samhain hissed as he flew straight for Gill. The Gill-man then engaged him/her in hand-to-hand combat and for a while both of them were equally matched and met each other blow for blow until Gill inflates his body like a puffer fish and spat out a concentrated blast of water that knocked Samhain back several feet, after which he deflated. Angry by this Samhain growled, zipped over and grabbed Gill by the neck, holding him upward.
"I'll crack your windpipe like an egg!" Samhain/Mina smiled in a nasty manner.
"Oh no! I'll save you, Gill!" Johnny yelled as he picked up a piece of the roof and tossed it. It bonked Samhain/Mina on the head but barely fazed him/her. He/she stared at him with a deadpan face.
"What… was that?" he/she asked flatly.
"Uh… bad throwing on my part?" Johnny shrugged.
"You don't say…" Samhain/Mina remarked as he/she tossed Gill into Johnny, knocking them both down. The possess girl then opened her mouth wide as a ghostly skull emerged from her then grew in size as it roared at the two of them loudly before firing a lightning bolt from its mouth that sent them both flying off the room and towards the ground.
Mavis weakly looked up and saw the two of them falling, her eyes widen. "JOHNNY! GILL!" she cried.
Gill hit the ground first with a loud 'thud'. When the dust cleared he was very battered and bruised but still alive. He groaned loudly in pain then noticed Johnny still falling and yelling with fear. He raised his sore arm and created a water disk under him before gently lowering to him the ground.
"Whew! Thanks man!" Johnny smiled. Gill gave him a thumbs up but was quickly blasted away and sent rolling by another lightning bolt thanks to Samhain who had just touched ground near the spot he landed.
Johnny yelped, turned around and to his shock the person turned demon was floating right in front of him. Johnny tried to run away but Samhain/Mina grabbed him by his messy red hair and held up upward. The human struggled to free himself and kicked his legs widely but it did no good. The demon then grabbed his neck and squeezed it tightly.
Gill, Mavis, Dracula and the others all weakly attempted to get up but watched helplessly and horrified as they heard a snapping sound and Johnny's pain filled cry. Gill groaned in dismay and closed his eyes tightly at the sight.
After Johnny's legs stopped kicking Samhain/Mina let him go and let him flop to the ground with unblinking eyes staring upward and lifelessly.
