Ghost World
Damon woke up tied to a chair, a fireplace poker shoved in his chest, his ring on the floor. He turns his head and sees Thalia, her wrist chained to his leg chair, her body leaning against the side of the chair. Unknown to him, Mason was watching them.
"Oh, you got to be kidding me." Damon grunts out. "Oh, Stefan."
Stefan than entered and saw the two, he too could not see Mason standing by the window. He watched as Thalia began to wake up, groaning. She tried to move her hand to realise it was chained up. "What?" She grunted.
"Low blow, Stefan. Low blow." Damon groaned out, making Thalia jump slightly as she hadn't noticed either boys yet.
"What the hell happened to you?" Stefan asked, moving closer to the two.
"Whatever twisted ripper game this is, leave me out of it." He then looked back down at Thalia, who was rubbing her eyes. "And her too."
"I didn't do this." Stefan told him.
"Quit screwing around!" Damon's voice was beginning to get louder.
"I didn't." Stefan was now standing right next to the two, he bent down and grabbed Thalia's chains before breaking them, letting her wrist go and receiving a mumbled thanks as she then began to sit up. Stefan then leaned over Damon and checked his chains. "It's pretty messed up though, isn't it?" He removes the poker to which Damon screamed in pain.
Stefan starts to remove his chains too but stops and leaves the room.
"Yeah, not to worry. I'll just untangle myself." Damon called out to him, Thalia stood up and looked over at Damon's chains, trying to find out how to get him out.
Mason moved to the curtains and suddenly opened them, sunlight shift through the room and reached Damon, burning his skin. As Damon screamed, Thalia rushed to the window as fast as she could and closed the blinds.
"What's happening?" She asked him.
After Thalia had helped Damon out of his chains and they had gotten washed and dressed, they had climbed into his car and drove off into town.
He stopped the car when he saw Caroline and Bonnie helping out with decorating the town for the lights ceremony. When both girls noticed them they put down their things and moved towards the car.
"Greetings, blondie. Witchy. I think you got your voodoo wires all crossed when you got rid of Vicki Donovan."
"What kind of name's are those" Thalia asked from the passenger seat.
"Now's not the time, Sparky." Damon said with a smirk that Thalia couldn't see as he was facing the younger girls. With a scowl on her face she moved her right hand towards his head and flicked his ear, sending a small volt electricity move from her fingers to his skin, making him jump slightly in his seat. He turned back to her, this time he wore the scowl and she the smirk.
Bonnie trying to pull them back from their childish banter interrupted them, "What do you mean, why?"
Turning away from Thalia, Damon turned to Bonnie to answer her question. "Because I'm pretty sure I just got spit-roasted by Mason Lockwood's ghost."
"What?" Bonnie asked.
"And why would you think that?"
"Maybe because he chained me to a chair and shoved a hot poker in my chest. Let's just say I'm having déjà vu." He stopped for a while before continuing. "He also chained her" He nodded backwards to Thalia. "To the chair, but I think that was to stop her from helping me as he didn't shove anything in her chest."
Caroline looked at Bonnie. "I thought you said that ghosts couldn't physically interact with people."
Bonnie looked back at Caroline. "They can't."
"Yeah, well," Both girls turned back to him. "I don't have time for a vengeful Lockwood. When I kill someone, they're supposed to stay dead. Whatever you screwed up, fix it. And you." He turned to Thalia. "Go with them and help them out, I got to find Ric." She stress at Damon for a while before finally giving in and getting out the car.
As soon as she's on the side-walk he starts his car up and leaves the girls.
The younger girls both look at Thalia but the first to say anything was Caroline. "How did you do that, with the electricity. Are you a witch too?"
Thalia laughs slightly. "A witch? No, but it's kind of a long story."
This time it was Bonnie who spoke. "Well maybe later then, when we're not dealing with ghosts."
Matt who was across the street from the girls was now with them and they were all talking. "I haven't seen Vicki, I swear. I sent her back like you told me to."
"Are you sure? Because she has just as much reason to haunt Damon as Mason Lockwood does." Bonnie asked.
"She's gone, Bonnie. If she was here, I'd know it."
"Why do you think it's Vicki and not Mason?" Caroline asked her.
"Because if any ghost other than Vicki Donovan has a physical foothold on our side, then that means Damon's right and something has gone really, really wrong."
"I've had enough of this ghost stuff to last forever. So you guys can leave me out of this one." "It was umm..." He started trying to find the right word. "Nice to meet you, Thalia." Said girl waved her hand slightly as the boy left.
"I feel so sad for him. It took a lot for him to send his sister away." Caroline said.
"Yeah." Bonnie agreed.
Caroline watched Bonnie from the corner of her eye. "So much strength as a man."
"I've got a ghost problem to deal with, Caroline. Save the Jeremy lecture for later." Bonnie said and moved to grab her bag.
Thalia leaned over to Caroline slightly (who was taller than her, Thalia admitted, though she wasn't happy about it). "What was that about?" she whispered.
"Her boyfriend is seeing the ghost of his ex girlfriend." Caroline whispered back. They watch as Bonnie tries to pick up her bag but it falls open and when she reaches over to pick up the grimoire, it opens itself.
"Ok, did your grimoire just..." Caroline started to ask.
"I think so." Bonnie interrupted her. She picks up the grimoire and reads the page.
"Ok, please tell me that's a recipe for witch cookies." Caroline begged.
"It's a manifestation spell. It's used to reveal veiled matter." Bonnie said. When Thalia widened her eyes slightly, Bonnie was surprised she knew what it meant.
"What's veiled matter?" Caroline asked.
"Ghosts."
The three girls were now in the abandoned house, climbing down some dark stairs.
"So this is where you brought Jeremy back to life?" Caroline asked.
"Wait Jeremy died?" Thalia asked, though she wasn't really looking for an answer, she was behind both of the girls so she was the last to enter the room. "This is almost as messed up as what I had to deal with before I got here."
"What could be more messed up than a town filled with vampires, werewolves, witches and hybrids?" Caroline asked, looking at the shorter girl.
"Trust me, you don't want me to get into it." Thalia walked past the blond and looked at Bonnie.
"Sorry, I know it's creepy, but we needed a private place around here to do the spell."
Caroline looked at Thalia for a while before moving on with the subject, she'd ask her about it later. "Hmm. There's no chance it's haunted by the hundred dead witches who were horrifically burned to death in this very spot, is there?"
"They're not here anymore. And they made it clear they were never coming back."
"Right. A pinkie swear?" Caroline asked as she smiled at Bonnie.
Caroline and Thalia were both moving around the room, lighting the candles.
"Ready? Do you need us to do..." Caroline started but before she could finish Bonnie had already started chanting the spell. "Right. Ok"
Both Caroline and Thalia could feel a wind start to pick up. The wind gets stronger and things in the room start to swing back and forth.
"Bonnie, I don't like this. Bonnie..." Caroline says just as Thalia feels a buzz from her jeans pocket. She takes out her phone to see that Klaus had texted her. She subconsciously smiles and opens the text.
Hey, is everything alright? – Klaus.
She goes to answer back as she hears Caroline speak. She hadn't noticed that there was another lady in the room and that she was holding Bonnie's hands, she also hadn't noticed there was another figure beside her.
"Oh, my God. Is that your...?"
"Grams..."
Suddenly Thalia jumps back as she hears a low voice from right beside her.
"Who's Klaus?" it asked.
All females in the room turn to Thalia and the other male, at first Bonnie and Caroline thought the male was Klaus as he too had blond hair and blue eyes, but then they realised it wasn't as his hair was sandy blond and his eyes a different shade of blue, he also had a long scar on his face, just below his left eye and running down to his chin.
"Luke?"
Said boy smiled slightly, watching his old friend but that smile left his face when he saw the fist coming towards it.
"Thalia!" Caroline screeched.
"No, no." The boy started, a hand placed over his eye. "I deserved that."
"You deserve a lot more than that." Thalia said. She turned to the other girls. "Sorry, I'll go talk to him outside." She then grabbed his wrist and led him outside.
"What are you doing here?" she asked once they were outside the house.
"Well..." He started, he looked deep into her eyes, electric blue, he always had liked them. "I'm sure Annabeth told you I decided to go for the Isle of Blest, well it turns out I already had all my three chances and I got in."
He paused for a while, watching for her reaction. She only stood there with a scowl on her face, her arms crossed on top of her chest. "When I found out that I asked Hades if I could have one day on earth, just so I could say good-bye, he always said no so after about a year I dropped it and then today he came to me and asked if I still wanted to visit you so I said yes but then I realised you couldn't see me or hear me and then that girl was chanting that stuff and you got a text from that Klaus dude texted you and I spoke and you heard me so I guess Hades knew that was gonna happen, but I'm not complaining." He finally finished speaking and watched Thalia once more waiting for her response.
She watched him for a long time before doing anything and Luke noticed the corner of her lips turn upwards into a smile, his too turned up and he stretched out his arms for her.
She stepped towards him and wrapped her arms around his torso as his went around her shoulders. His chin rested atop her head while her face was settled against his neck.
When they separated Luke's hands ran down her arms and rested just below her shoulders and he looked at her, really looked at her. She was older, a lot older than he remembered when she was a hunter.
"You're not a hunter anymore?"
"No, I left a couple of years back."
"You're so much older now." His right hand travelled up to her face and cupped her cheek; the touch vaguely reminded Thalia of Klaus's but she ignored the recognition. She then saw Luke lean down, his face was now just above hers, but he stopped moving almost as if he was waiting for her to lean up the rest of the way. And she did, their lips touched and it warm, chaste and wrong, Thalia couldn't help but feel that this was wrong, though she may have wanted it when she was twelve she no longer did, and her heart yearned for another, for Klaus and for some reason she felt as if she was cheating on Klaus, even though they definitely were not dating.
She backed down, away from Luke and moved away from him so that he was no longer touching her.
"Sorry, I can't..." Thalia started, not sure what to say.
"Hey its fine, I get it. You like that Klaus guy; I saw the way you smiled when you got his text."
"I-uh." Her face went red as she tried to think of something to say.
Luke laughed and Thalia was happy to see a real smile on his face, something he didn't do too much of in his last days.
"We, err, should get back inside and check on the girls." Thalia said, the blush was slowly going away but it was still very easy to see so she hoped Caroline and Bonnie wouldn't notice.
They climbed down the stairs to see Bonnie holding hands with that woman who appeared when Luke did; as they reached the bottom step they heard Bonnie ask her a question.
"What does the witch want?"
"That's original vampire business, not yours. I don't want you getting in the middle of that. I'm here because you upset the balance of nature. And it's your duty to set it right. You need to close that door."
They then turned to Thalia and Luke.
"Err, guys this is Luke, Luke this is Caroline and Bonnie." Thalia said pointing at each girl as she said their name, "And I'm guessing this is Bonnie's Grandmother."
"Hello, I'm Sheila, it's lovely to meet you."
Caroline was on the phone to Elena, telling her what Sheila had said.
How do we do that?
"Apparently the old witch can draw power from this side because of her talisman."
Talisman... My necklace?
"It's some ju-ju power source. And I know you're not going to like this, but Bonnie needs to destroy it."
I just walked in on Jeremy kissing the reason I'm completely ok with that.
Caroline moved slightly more away from the group and started whispering. "What?! Are you kidding?"
I wish. Look, I don't have the necklace. Damon has it somewhere. Text him. I'll call you right back.
They are back at the Salvatore place in Damon's room, they had left Sheila and Luke back at the abandoned house, getting upset Caroline calls Elena again.
Hello?
"So the necklace isn't where Damon said it would be and now we can't reach Damon."
Listen, I need you to get Bonnie to hold off on sending the ghosts back.
"What?! But you said you were in full support of getting rid of them."
I was. I am. Look, Lexi's here and she's helping with Stefan.
"Ok, let's just find it first and then we'll choose between boyfriend ghost dramas."
The girls hang up and Caroline looks back at Bonnie.
"What are you talking about?" She asked.
"Um...Lexi's back, so Elena wants us to hold off on destroying the necklace." Thalia had also finished looking around and was now watching the two girls.
"You said boyfriend dramas. Plural. What is it, Caroline?"
"Elena caught Jeremy kissing Anna." Thalia's eyes widened slightly, she definitely was not expecting that.
"What?"
"I'm sorry."
"He kissed her?"
"She's got a foothold now, so she probably thinks that she's here to stay. But us three, Bonnie," Caroline grabbed Bonnie's arms. "We're going to find that necklace. Ok? Okay."
The girls then continue to look around the room again.
It's some time later while Caroline is in the bathroom, Bonnie looking around the fire place and Thalia underneath the bed when they finally gave up.
"Ugh! I give up. It's not anywhere in this room." Caroline was nearly shouting. Thalia climbs out from underneath the bed and stands patting down her clothes to get rid of dust when Bonnie's phone rings. Bonnie moves towards where it lay on top of a dresser but stopped picking it up when she saw Jeremy's name.
And so instead Caroline moves to answer it. "What do you want, Jeremy?"
Caroline? Did you find that necklace?
"Not yet. Wait, what's going on?"
Ghosts of the tomb vampires killed Tobias Fell. You might want to find that necklace before they start going alphabetically through the founding families.
"Well, it's not where it's supposed to be. Unless someone took it."
Who?
"Well, who do you think?"
She said she didn't take it.
"Oh, and you believe her."
You know what, yeah, yeah, I do believe her.
"You know what, you're an even bigger idiot than I thought. So wake up, Jeremy, before you lose everything." Angrily she hung up the phone angrily and passes back to Bonnie.
The girls were back in Bonnie's car on their way back to the abandoned house. Caroline once again on the phone.
Caroline hangs up the phone turning towards Bonnie and Thalia who was sat in the back. "Jeremy's got the necklace. He's going to meet us at the witch house."
"Ok." Bonnie turns back towards the road to see a car had crashed into a tree, the car just so happened to be Carol Lockwood's car. "What's going on up there?" She stops the car next to Carol's and the girls look in.
"It's Mrs. Lockwood's car." Caroline said. They see the tomb vampires walking up to the car. "Bonnie? I'm going to get out of the car."
"What?!"
"And you're going to drive the hell away from here."
"No way! I am not leaving you!" Bonnie told her.
"We're not leaving you." Thalia corrected.
"Bonnie, you've got your ghost boyfriend drama. Elena has hers. And right now the mother of mine is about to be ghost bait. So go and send them all back to the other side, ok? And Thalia you need to help her."
Caroline then gets out the car and Bonnie drives away. Thalia looks behind her at Caroline, seeing her vamp out and attack the other vampires.
Bonnie and Thalia were back at the house, Bonnie was lighting up the candles with her powers when Jeremy arrives.
"Bonnie!"
Bonnie however wasn't happy to see him. He gives her the necklace and she throws it in the chimney. Luke was standing by Thalia and they hold each other's hands as they watch Bonnie and Sheila chant a spell. They watch as the necklace begins to burn.
The necklace had melted down. Luke and Thalia knew they didn't have long until he was gone, "Bye Luke, it was good to see you." He squeezes her hand before he vanishes along with Sheila.
Bonnie was crying, looking at the fireplace.
"Bonnie..." Jeremy muttered.
"Just go away, Jeremy." Bonnie cried.
"I owe you an explanation." Thalia turned away from the scene, holding her own tears away.
"Matt let go of his sister before you let go of Anna. His sister, Jeremy. You know what you owe me? The respect of not making me listen to you explain yourself."
"I am sorry, Bonnie." He tried again.
"You need to go."
"But…"
"Just go, Jeremy." He finally leaves and Thalia moves toward Bonnie. Bonnie was back to staring at the fire-place when Thalia got to her. She lifted her hand slightly and placed it on Bonnie's arm.
"I'm sorry." Bonnie looked at her.
"I'm sorry too." they both turned back to the fire, looking at the necklace. They turn away when sparks start to fly around in the fire-place and when they died down, they looked back to see the necklace was perfectly intact.
