The Recidivist Ch.21
(A/N: Back from my trip. Finally can work on this. Also, I changed the summary again. Sorry.)
NOTICE: I know the series is not finished yet. So if some events from an episode changes the characters or experiences, think of this story that its in a different universe. Like after the characters of RWBY have nothing to do.
RWBY along with its characters that you might obviously know DOESN'T belong to me. The series belongs to Rooster Teeth productions and the creator, Monty Oum. The plot in this Fanfiction and some characters you'll know who are OCs are from me.

Chapter 21: Usual Mornings.
Waking up… (is a pain).
(Ruby's POV)
My body stayed temporarily still because of the lack of strength when I finally woke up from my slumber. After around ten seconds, I finally rolled around my bed to face the left side. I removed my sleeping mask and rubbed my eyes. My vision temporarily blurry, started to recover. I saw three distinct figures in front of me. The lack of sunlight shining into the room didn't give me much of a clear look to identify what they were. It heard my call as the sunlight shined in my dorm.
Looking directly at the three figures, it was my teammates: Weiss, Blake, and my sister Yang. As I expected from the three of them since we all sleep in the same room. They were still in their sleepwear, so I probably woke up at the right time. This wasn't the weekend anymore. We have class later, so I got off my bed and walked towards my drawer to find my Beacon Academy Uniform.
"Well," My sister started. "we all have our classes again. Excited, team?!" She asked in excitement.
I let out a yawn.
"O-ookay, my little sis isn't excited." She looked at Weiss and Blake next. "But what about you two? Another day of class is another step forward to graduating here!"
Blake pointed at me. "What Ruby said."
"But…, I just yawned."
"Exactly." She sighed.
Weiss held onto her uniform and brushed off some dust. "It's to class is like a daily routine for the weekdays. So nothing exciting will happen, unless something DOES happen." She said.
"Sooo, nobody? C'mon! Let us all get through this together, as a team!" Yang spoke, then suddenly groaned. "Who am I kidding? Me neither. I'm terrible at being an eternal optimist."
"You know what they say, it's difficult to become one." Weiss said.
"Take Nora for an example. She's good at it." Blake reminded.
"Well, come on girls!" I jumped in. "We got class to do! Who's with me?!" I put my hand between the group,
"That's the spirit!" Yang puts her hand on mine.
"Definitely." Blake nodded and placed in her hand.
"I'm in for Team RWBY." Weiss smiled and did the same.
"Alright! Team RWBY, One… Two… Three! Banzai!" We shot our hands up towards the ceiling.
(Wyvern's POV)
The sound of my alarm cried loudly and echoed across my dorm. I was able to let my free left arm to press the snooze button. My eyes opened and saw I was back at Beacon Academy instead of my family's residence. Now, it's my third week here and here I thought it's been longer than that.
I sat up from my bed and rubbed my eyes to clear out any particles in them. Looking outside as I saw the new sun shining, I got off my bed and stretched. I opened the curtains and saw the campus was still the same as usual. My room, the same as usual as well. The decorations, the posters, and everything else was all clean last night; thanks to Alice, our Academy "Janitor" in a maid's outfit.
Walking towards my workplace table, I took out a pencil and grabbed my journal; to write a log entry in the morning.
I wrote: "Beacon Entry #6. Finally back at the academy instead of my residence back at Doragon; The country of the Drahen Empire. Well, looks like I better get back to work. But it still makes me wonder why Master Ostanes wanted me to be here. As his student, I couldn't really decline any one of his orders that was connected to my training. Let's get to it."
"Meh. Good enough." I said to myself and got off my chair to head off to my bathroom to brush my teeth. My fangs were to be taken in good dental care. After, I'll get myself ready for class.
(Jaune's POV)
Aw, man. I could tell it was my time to wake up, and get off my bed. After opening my eyes, I noticed all three of my team members; Nora, Pyrrha, and Ren were still slumbering peacefully on their beds. I'm usually not the first one to wake up because… I don't know. Because I'm not as more active than the rest of my team? Well, whatever.
I got off my bed and headed towards my drawer to pick off my academy uniform. I changed behind the folding screen that Nora brought with her. As I was in the middle of getting dressed, I heard one of the beds creak, assuming that somebody is already awake.
"Jaune?" A male voice called my name. It was Ren, since he and I are the only guys in the team.
"I'm right here. Hang on." I told him and finally finished up getting dressed.
Ren yawned loudly. "Morning." He said. "Ready for class already?"
"Yeah, I guess." I stretched.
Then, Nora and Pyrrha started to wake up. Getting on their feet; still in their sleepwear, the both of them started to fix up their beds.
"Good morning, boys." Pyrrha rubbed her eyes.
"Feel the brand new day everyone!" Nora said while stretching her body.
"Good morning." Me and Ren said at the same time.
I stepped away from the folding screen just in case one of them wanted to get dressed in their uniform. Getting ready early is more easier, that is to say. Speaking of which, I grabbed my toothbrush and toothpaste to head my way to brush my teeth. The close by washroom was close by our dorms too. After I told my team I'll be in the washroom, I opened the door and saw Ruby opening hers at the same time as I did.
"Mornin, Jaune." Ruby waved.
"Oh, hey." I closed the door behind me. "Who'd you sleep?"
"I slept well." She smiled. "I didn't sleep on 'the wrong side of the bed' this time."
"What do you mean by 'the wrong side of the bed'?" I started walking down the hall as she followed me.
"Nothing."
Silence.
"So, what have you been up to after we got back yesterday?" She asked.
"I just crashed when we got back. That's it." I sighed.
"Meh. Same as the others in my team." Ruby rolled her eyes and put her hands behind her head to lay it back. "Me, I didn't. I was just reading a book," She smiled wryly. "… through only one page."
"So you did crash." I smirked.
"Yeah… Pretty much." She shrugged her shoulders.
Then, another voice called out our names.
"Ruby! Jaune! Good morning!"
We both turned our heads towards the spot where our names were called out. Right next to the door of the washroom ahead was Alice, our academy janitor. Still hard to believe she is one in a maid's outfit.
"Good morning, Alice." I waved.
"Sleep well?"
I nodded as Ruby did the same. "Sure did. What about you?"
"Mm hmm!" She nodded as well. "By the way, are the others getting ready? I don't want any of you to miss or be late for any of your classes."
"Don't sweat it." Ruby says. "My team is almost ready for theirs."
"Same here." I raised my hand.
"Good. Because six years ago when I was a 'freshman' in this academy, tardiness will not be tolerated in my book." Alice said while dusting a small table.
"So, you're twenty three years old, working in the academy where you were being trained to become a huntress?" Ruby stared.
"Correct." She flipped her feather duster around and turned it into a mace; with her other hand on the forend grip, as a shotgun.
Ruby grinned, amused by Alice's weapon. "Your weapon is just… way beyond clever. A mace that is also an automatic shotgun; disguised as a feather duster."
"And fits her style." I added.
"I can fight," Alice then switched her mace back to a feather duster, then began sweeping the table with it. "and clean at the same time when I have Angel Feathers here."
"Uh… right." I chuckled. "Again, I would like to say thanks to you for cleaning me and my team's dorm. You saved my back from getting sore if I was doing the job."
"Yeah." Ruby nodded. "Thanks, Ms. Pasha."
Alice blushed and did a curtsy bow. "You're most welcome." She smiled. "Now, do your oral hygiene. Either for no strong breath, ready to kiss somebody, or stay fresh out like the flowers!"
"Uh… right. Okay." Ruby scratched her head and went inside the washrooms.
We both walked in and saw that only Wyvern has already beat us before we arrived. He was already in his uniform just like us. While brushing his teeth and staring at the mirror. Ruby and I walked to him and used the faucets right next to his.
"Good morning, you two." Wyvern greeted.
"Good morning." Ruby smiled.
"What's up?" I asked.
"Oral hygiene." He answered with his toothbrush still in his mouth.
"I thought you had your own bathroom. Why brush your teeth here?"
"I got lonely." He answered.
"Really?"
"No, not really." Wyvern chuckled. "I knew you two were coming in here. And so, I just wanted to make sure if you enjoyed staying at my residence. Any changes you want in the future?"
"No, no. Everything was fine that I can't think of anything wrong while staying there." I said.
"No argument here." Ruby raised her hand while her toothbrush was in her mouth.
Wyvern shrugged. "Okay, good. My parents love embarrassing me sometimes."
Ruby patted his back. "It's because they think its cute."
"If you had a child, you would always want to tease him or her just for fun." I told him.
"Eh." He shrugged and spat out on the sink. Using mouthwash and spat out again, he turned on the faucet to clean it out. He corrected his eyepatch on his left eye and stretched.
"Done already?" Ruby asked.
Wyvern nodded. "Yeah. I'll be off to m-OOF!"
I turned around and noticed someone landing on the floor. The person standing up was Wyvern, but for the person on the ground; was a familiar face. He's that guy who loves to mess around with everyone. Tall, indigo eyes, and orange-brown hair. We all know who this guy was.
Cardin.
"Hey!" Cardin glared at Wyvern like he was about to strangle him.
"Hi." He simply replied, like he wasn't afraid of him.
That dunderhead Cardin got up on his feet and growled in anger. "Wrong answer, pal." He cracked his knuckles. "A proper apology is the best."
"My apologies."
He shook his head unimpressively. "Not good enough. Say it like you mean it."
"And why is that?" Wyvern raised an eyebrow. "Or you're still angry because of that insult I said to you long time ago? Gimme a break." He crossed his arms.
He gave a fake smile, which made me a bit nervous on what was about to happen to Wyvern. "Look, just do what I say, and you wont have to deal with a nosebleed for the entire day. Say sorry like you mean it. It didn't sound like you mean it."
"Then you're a fool."
BAM!
In a flash, I saw Cardin's fist strike Wyvern directly on his face. From the sudden strike, Wyvern almost fell on his back, but successfully prevented that by stepping his left leg back immediately.
"Dude!" I yelled.
"Stay out of this, Arc." He faced his palm at me.
Ruby angrily stomped on the ground. "What is your problem?!"
"Back off, lady." Cardin smirked at Wyvern; who was covering his nose. "I've got a score to settle."
This isn't good.
I heard Wyvern sigh while he stood there. Removing his hand out of the way of his face, he revealed a gush of blood below his nose. Cardin laughed as Me and Ruby grew angry at him.
"Violence." Wyvern shook his head. "Really now? Are you that desperate to take back what was given to you?"
"You're asking for an early funeral, aren't you?" He grinned evilly.
I walked next to Cardin and attempted to control him. "Cardin, cool it."
He pushed me away. "I said, BACK off."
"And I think you should do that as well, fool." Wyvern glared.
"You little RUNT!"
Cardin angrily charged at Wyvern and sent a fist straight at him, but was stopped by Wyvern's own hand like he only caught a lightly tossed baseball. I always knew Cardin had pretty strong strength, but Wyvern stopping it with only one hand without a problem or sense of struggle; that's just nuts. Especially the comparison of Cardin's height and body build with Wyvern's. Wyvern was shorter than him; and didn't really have that much build than Cardin.
As Cardin grew even more angry, he tried to push the force of his hand towards Wyvern, but not much affect was happening. His fist stayed in the exact distance between it and Wyvern's face.
"Let go of me!"
"Ladies first." Wyvern smirked.
Next, Cardin threw his other fist towards him. But unfortunately for him, it ended up like his other hand being held. Predicting he'll do a dirty move, I was right. He kicked his right leg up to strike Wyvern's gut. Upon noticing this, Wyvern took up his own right leg and blocked it. Next, he scooped up Cardin's leg, resulting him to lose his balance on his one leg. He was pushed to the ground, hard.
"You know," Wyvern crossed his arms. "for your kind of behavior towards almost everyone in Beacon, it amuses me to look down upon you. Where bullies should always be below on the dirt."
I looked at Ruby and gave a sign to try and advise someone to break it up, before things start to get really ugly. She agreed to it, and walked out the door without Cardin even noticing.
"You're gonna regret saying that, punk!" Cardin got up and threw his fist again at him.
Wyvern grabbed his right arm using his own right hand. His left arm rose up and grabbed Cardin's neck as he went behind him in an instant. With his right hand free again, he forcefully nudged Cardin's popliteal fossa; the back of his knee, and… carried his entire body on top of him!
"What the-!" Cardin looked around while he was up.
"RAGH!" Wyvern threw Cardin, face first at the sink. His faced barely missed the mirror from below. The impact caused the sink to crack a little bit as well.
I just stood there. Shocked about what just happened.
"Oh my god…" I stared with my eyes widened.
"Size doesn't really matter to me." Wyvern smiled.
As Cardin's head was on the sink, the faucet was still left running on top of his head; soaking it. I just slowly and cautiously turned it off while he was faced down.
"I actually almost feel bad for him." I looked at the unconscious Cardin.
"Don't be." He rolled his eyes. "Bullying is an unacceptable act that needs to be killed with fire."
"We all can agree to that."
"I'm not finished yet!" A sudden voice yelled out from behind me.
I was pushed away forcefully and saw Cardin about to attack Wyvern… again. Then, the door opened as I saw only a dash of somebody going between the two. The person wore a maid's outfit, which was pretty obvious for me to recognize. It was Alice. Her long hair flipped as soon as she grabbed Cardin's fist. Expecting him to get angry at her, he actually stopped what he was doing and stepped back against the wall. His face showed… fear?
"Well, well." Alice smiled innocently at Cardin. "If it isn't Cardin Winchester. Do you mind telling me what was happening here?"
Cardin gulped and tried to hide his fear by smiling. "Nothing was going on, Ms. Pasha. Really."
"Are you lying to me?" Alice gave a cold glare that intimidated Cardin. Including myself, even though I wasn't really involved in the fighting.
"I-I… N-N-No! I mean, Yes! No wait! Uh…" Cardin stuttered while beginning to shake.
Alice crossed her arms and tilted her head. "Explain why Mr. Kumawaka has a nosebleed then."
I saw Wyvern giving Cardin a deathly glare just like Alice. His nose was being covered by his hand while doing it.
"I-It was…"
"It was what?" She asked and turned her feather duster into a mace.
"L-Look, I made a stupid decision to attack Wyvern! I admit it!" He covered his face with his arms.
"I would like for you to apologize to him. If you don't do it properly, well… perhaps Angel Feathers here will teach you how." She shook her mace.
"Wyvern! I'm very sorry man! It was my mistake and forgive me for my stupidity!" Cardin admitted.
"Sounds promising." Alice smiled again. "If you attempt to injure Wyvern or his friends; or perhaps lie to me," She cracks her knuckles loudly. "you'll regret being born in this world." Her violet aura started to glow around her, which matches her intimidation to him. "Capish?"
Cardin nodded rapidly. "Y-Yes! Of course! I'm sorry!" Then, he immediately ran out of the washroom out of fear. Leaving only the four of us standing here.
"What's his problem?" Ruby asked Alice.
"Long story." She laughs. "I have always taught some sense into him when he harasses others. It's funny when he's in fear, isn't it?"
"Yeah. Haha!" Ruby laughed.
"Does anybody have an ice pack?" Wyvern asked.
*Weapons and Technology Class #2*
(Ruby's POV)
My team and I were making our way to class after we just eaten breakfast. It was tiring to be back in class, but this is what hunters and huntresses have to do anyway. Attend in Beacon and stay here for four years.
Since today was a different schedule, our first class was with Professor Kalashnikov; who was in charge of The Weapons and Technology Class, one of my favorite ones to admit the truth. I love studying about weaponry and such.
We all walked in and smelt the scent of gunpowder with the mix of an apple cinnamon air freshener. It mostly blocked the scent of gunpowder, which won't be that much of a bother. Weapons, ammunition, a few jars if dust, tesla coils, and computers. Not much of a surprise since this is class's title says it all. Professor Kalashnikov was a pretty chill man. Thankfully, we didn't having a strict and bossy teacher. But all tutors here are okay.… I guess.
Taking our seats, Jaune and his team all walked in at the same time from the door. Next who came in was Wyvern, who had an ice pack Alice gave him after Cardin punched him; resulting him to get beaten by Wyvern and confronted by Alice. They all took their seats as class was about to begin when the professor stood up next to the white board.
Class was always the same. Professor Kalashnikov explaining all his intelligence on the subject we were taking about, my sister Yang was starting to grow bored, Weiss paying attention to the professor, Blake… just probably staring blankly out in space or into his soul or something, Wyvern taking notes, Jaune falling asleep, Pyrrha paying attention just like Weiss, Nora playing with her class supplies, and Ren just chilling in class.
Resting my head on my left hand, my eyes dialed down to my small bag I brung with me just in case I grew bored. I almost forgot about it, actually. Inside was the book I borrowed from Blake last night, my doodle book, and flashcards so I can pass them to others so I can communicate with them. I sighed and just looked around the room to pass the time. But it seems like the clock loves to slow down every time I try to relieve my boredom.
"Ms. Rose?"
As soon as I heard my name, I got off my chair in full alert. "Yes, sir!"
Silence…
… to some students in the room started to chuckle by my sudden hypnic jerk. I looked down as my face turned red.
"Whoa… everything alright? You were spacing out like Ms. Belladonna over there." He mentioned Blake.
I nodded slowly. "Uh… yes. Sorry."
"I'm guessing you didn't get that much sleep. Well, that was like me when I was your age in Beacon." He said.
Blake tilted her head. "You were in Beacon when you were fifteen years old?"
"Oh… wait." Kalashnikov realized it, as some students laughed. "Haha. Sorry. When I was seventeen, to say."
"It's alright." I smiled.
"I'll come back to you." The professor looked at the entire class. "Does anybody else know the answer; besides Ms. Rose?"
"The bullets diameter is around .510 inches; while the overall length is 5.45." Pyrrha answered my question for me.
"Thank you, Ms. Nikos." Professor Kalashnikov focused his attention back at the white board.
I felt a nudge on my side. It was Yang, sitting right next to me. Oh boy, what is she going to say this time?
"Feeling bored in one of your favorite classes?" She raised an eyebrow.
"Not really." I sat back down, with my face still red. "I was just sucked into space. That's it." I sighed. "That was so embarrassing…"
Yang giggled. "Don't worry about it. Also, I didn't expect you to space out like Weiss, Pyrrha, and Wyvern right now. You love weapons, right?"
"Yes, I do. But…" I lied my head on the top of my arms on the desk. "Nevermind…"
"Oh you~…" She patted my head.
"Muuu-" I let out in annoyance.
"You can slack off all you want. I'll ask Wyvern to give you some of his notes." Yang took out a piece of paper and wrote down a request for him. Then, she folded it tightly. While Professor Kalashnikov wasn't looking, she threw the paper at Wyvern; hitting him on the side of the head.
I stared at my sister. "You didn't have to ask him now."
Wyvern opened the folded note and began to read it. I saw his eyes widen as his face started to turn red. He slowly put the paper down and glared back at Yang. She just waved at him innocently. Then, he started to write on the same paper to reply back. Again when Professor Kalashnikov wasn't looking back, he threw it back at my sister. Upon opening the folded paper,a Wyvern write this down on the back side:
'No, Yang. I'd rather not do that.' -Wyvern.
I sighed, knowing Yang wrote something else.
"What did you write down?" I asked.
"I asked if he can give some of his notes to you." She smiled.
"Let me see it."
"Why?"
By the looks of her smile, this made me become suspicious. "Hand it over."
"Make me." She playfully stuck her tongue out.
"Gimme it." I started to grow impatient.
"Say the magic word."
I sighed. "Please?"
"Keep going."
Ugh! "Please… Big sister Yang? Onee-San?"
"Knock yourself out." She FINALLY handed it over.
Taking the paper from her, I turned it over and started to read what she wrote down. As my eyes scanned down her entire writing, it said this:
'Hi Wyvern! If you're taking notes about weapons, can you write about the guns on me?' ~Yang.
"Really?" I gave an unimpressed look.
"What? It's funny." Yang covered her laughter.
Is this a common occurrence for Wyvern or something?
(Meh. School life chapter. Nothing went wrong in any way. Really. :3)
