Well, I got a request to continue the story. Didn't realize anyone was still reading it, honestly. Anyway, here you go.
Red walked along the path to Vermillion City, hoping to get some further training done within the day. He then felt a slight bump on his back. He turned around and saw nothing. He felt it again and saw his bag shaking. Red quickly pulled his pack off his back and set it gently on the ground, opening it and looking inside. He saw the egg shaking rapidly; about ready to hatch.
Red grinned and quickly pulled the egg out of the pack, setting it gently on the ground so the hatchling would have room. Soon, the egg began to crack and a Bulbasaur emerged from the egg. Red grinned, and Raijin hopped down from his shoulder, looking curiously at the newborn. The Bulbasaur opened its eyes and looked at Red curiously. Red smiled at it, extending his hand slowly. The Bulbasaur looked at his hand and wrapped a vine around one of his fingers.
Red couldn't help feeling warm and fuzzy inside by the small gesture, and he moved forward to pick it up. The Bulbasaur backtracked slightly and then relaxed. Red paused at this, then tried to talk to it telepathically.
"Don't worry, little guy, I'm not gonna hurt you, I promise." The Bulbasaur tilted its head and walked into his hands, allowing himself to be grinned and sat back with him, gently holding onto it. Meanwhile, Raijin returned to his shoulder, looking down at the Bulbasaur looked at Raijin and grabbed his tail with a looked back curiously, then started to wiggle his tail Bulbasaur began to make a sound similar to laughter and grabbed him with more vines.
Raijin started to get uncomfortable, which Red quickly recognized and tried to unwrap the vines gently. The Bulbasaur was confused and unwrapped his vines. Red nodded and gently petted Bulbasaur on his head. The Bulbasaur nuzzled up to his hand and relaxed. Red grinned, then told it
"I'm going to call you Mason. Whattya think of that?" The Bulbasaur smiled and wrapped a vine around Red in an improvised grinned and returned the favor, but wasn't sure if he could put the newly hatched Pokemon in the pokeball just deliberated a little further, then resigned himself for the worst, taking a pokeball and telling the Bulbasaur in his arm
"Mason, I need you to listen carefully, okay?" Mason looked at him, not necessarily comprehending, but paying attention to the voice took a deep breath, then continued
"To make things a little easier on both of us, I need to put you into this pokeball, alright?" Mason looked at the ball and took it with his vines and put it in his quickly tried to stop him from swallowing it, breathing an initial sigh of relief, to be replaced with a grunt of disgust. Then he said
"No, you don't eat these. I'll feed you if you're hungry, but you can't eat these." Mason groaned and looked at the pulled out a fresh one, then gently tapped it against Mason's was sucked in and the ball shook three times before sighed in relief, but knew the worst was probably yet to come. With that in mind, he released Mason appeared confused and then saw Red and sighed in relief, then started pulling some berries out of his pack, asking
"You hungry, Mason?" Mason looked at it and took the berry with a vine and began to tap it on his head, as if it were the couldn't help chuckling, and gently grabbed it, saying
"No, no, this one you do eat; if it smells sweet and has a round shape, chances are you can eat it. However, don't do that to everything. But for this, you can eat it." Mason put it in his mouth and began to chew it. He then gave off a happy squeal and looked for grinned and gave him more, glad it had proved easy to feed ate more of them and then begged for obliged, glad that they were finally being put to some use.
Once Mason was finished eating, Red returned him and went back into Vermilion, heading straight for the Pokemon Center to make sure Mason had a clean bill of health. There was a minor scare when Mason didn't want to be separated from Red, but the Chansey assistant calmed him down. It wasn't long before Nurse Joy came back, declaring Mason to be of sound health. Red nodded in thanks and left, knowing that the area around them was too dangerous to be training Mason, and at any rate he might still be a little young for it. With that in mind, he began to head to Diglett's Cave, figuring he could do some training in Viridian Forest.
XXXXXXXXXX
Red stood in front of the Viridian City Gym, having trained intensely for it, and finally felt he was ready. Having all the badges, he was able to pass through the doors. The attendant at the front stopped him and asked
"May I see your badges?" Red wordlessly pulled out his badge case, showing the badges.
"Very well. You are clear to go. Good luck with this final challenge before you face the Elite Four and the Champion." Red nodded and put the badges away, heading forward. He quickly cut through the Gym Trainers, realizing it was a Ground Gym, which made things easier since he had both a Venusaur and a Blastoise, not to mention a Lapras. Even so, he took each battle seriously, because he didn't want to screw anything up; he was on a roll, and he wasn't about to stop.
Red finally made it past the last of the spinning tiles, taking a moment to wrestle his stomach back under control. Once he did, he stood back up and walked forward, intent on defeating the gym. He reached the end and saw Giovanni standing at the Gym Leader's platform. Giovanni saw him and growled
"You!" Red wasn't any less surprised, nor pleased, and immediately his hand whipped to a pokeball, taking one and holding it up threateningly.
"What? No comment?" Red rolled his eyes, making an "x" over his throat.
"You will lose, boy." Red smirked and sent out Mason, ready to go. Giovanni took out a pokeball and then released a Rhyhorn. Red smirked, then began the battle.
"Razor Leaf!" Mason roared and ejected a number of leaves from his massive back-flower, which flew forward, spinning so that their edges were like sharp razors when striking the opponent. Giovanni called out
"Horn Drill!" The Rhyhorn began to spin around and darted towards Mason, trying to avoid the leaves as it went.
"Sleep Powder!" Mason sprinkled the dusty spores out directly at Rhyhorn, which would make it drowsy. The Rhyhorn stopped what it was doing and fell asleep, causing Giovanni to scream
"WHAT?! WAKE UP!" The Rhyhorn, however, stayed asleep. Red smirked, then told Mason
"Leech Seed!" Mason hurled several large, glowing seeds, which stuck to Rhyhorn and began to drain its energy.
"Get up and use Horn Drill!" The Rhyhorn still did not wake up and had its energy drained.
"Petal Dance!" Mason shook his massive body and dislodged numerous amounts of petals, sending them all flying at Rhyhorn. The Rhyhorn was hit and immediately taken out. Giovanni returned it and sent out a Dugtrio.
"Mud Bomb!" The Dugtrio collected mud and fired it in a gigantic ball that exploded in Mason's face. Mason screeched, severely annoyed, and once again sent the petals flying at his opponent. The Dugtrio was hit, but managed to barely hang on.
"Night Slash!" The Dugtrio charged forward and slashed Mason. Mason was pushed back, and unfortunately for him the confusion kicked in. Red quickly said
"Try Leech Seed!" But when Mason attempted it, the move backfired and hurt him instead. Giovanni commanded
"Night Slash again!" The Dugtrio quickly did so, repeating the attack.
"Petal Dance!" Mason focused on Dugtrio, and by some miracle he managed to fire the attack. The Dugtrio was hit and taken out by the attack. Giovanni returned it with a face full of anger and released a Nidoqueen, calling out
"Earth Power!" The Nidoqueen punched the ground and sent pillars of earth crashing into Mason. The attack was neutral thanks to Mason's less-than-unique typing and the amount of training he had gone through. Because of the way the move worked, he attempted to use Petal Dance again, but unfortunately only hurt himself. Giovanni capitalized on this by saying
"Captivate!" The Nidoqueen winked and an outline of a heart flew towards Mason and greatly decreased his Sp. Atk. Red thought for a moment, trying to think up of a winning strategy. Then he smirked and commanded
"Double-Edge!" Mason snapped out of his confusion and roared at Nidoqueen, then charged forward, becoming encased in a white glow before crashing into her. The Nidoqueen was knocked back and growled.
"Fury Attack!" The Nidoqueen's claws began to glow and it began to repeatedly slash Mason. The Venusaur grunted with each successive hit, but Red quickly grabbed his attention again.
"Vine Whip!" Vines extended from the trunk of the plant on his back, striking Nidoqueen. The Nidoqueen staggered back and hissed at the whipping. Giovanni sneered
"What? You think that weak attack is going to hurt her?" Red ignored him, following up.
"Now, Leech Seed!" Mason did so, beginning to drain Nidoqueen's energy.
"Earth Power!" The Nidoqueen punched the ground again and sent more pillars towards Mason.
"Giga Drain!" Mason took the Ground attack, managing to hang on, and fired the large, glowing seeds that drained Nidoqueen's energy at a much faster rate than the Leech Seed, restoring his own energy.
"Poison Jab!" The Nidoqueen's fist began to glow and she punched Mason.
"Again!" Mason drained Nidoqueen's energy once more, gaining a lot of his health back as a result. The Nidoqueen fell on its back before forcing itself to its feet.
"Earth Power!" The Nidoqueen punched the ground again and sent more pillars to Mason.
"Razor Leaf!" Mason ejected dozens of small leaves, which then flew forward and struck Nidoqueen. The Nidoqueen was hit and fell unconscious. Giovanni returned it and released a much larger Nidoking.
"Megahorn!" The Nidoking's horn began to glow and he charged towards Mason.
*Leech Seed!* Mason launched the small seeds, which latched onto the charging Nidoking before he struck Mason.
"Peck!" The Nidoking took advantage of the close range and struck Mason. Mason roared at Nidoking, and Red told him
"Petal Dance!" Mason ejected the petals, striking the nearby Nidoking. The Nidoking skid back and roared at Mason, trying to appear bigger. Mason wasn't the least intimidated, seeing as how he had taken down three powerful Pokemon before him and was currently in relatively good health thanks to the prior Giga Drains.
"Thrash!" The Nidoking charged at Mason and began to beat him. Mason roared out, very much displeased, and struck him again with the petals. The Nidoking roared and retaliated with more punches. Mason was getting irritated and managed to fire off the Petal Dance once more, but the drawback was him becoming severely confused. The Nidoking staggered and punched him one last time before itself becoming confused. Red tried to rectify the damage Mason had taken, commanding
"Giga Drain!" Mason tried to launch the seeds, but they exploded in his face instead.
"Poison Jab!" The Nidoking tried to throw the punch, but it exploded in his face.
"Damn it all to hell!" Red was confused himself, remarking in his mind
"How does that even explode?" After a moment, he added
"This is just getting embarrassing." Nevertheless, he continued.
"Giga Drain!" Once again, Mason tried to attack, and once again he failed.
"End it! Earthquake!" The Nidoking roared and then suddenly flopped on the ground, causing Giovanni to scream
"Damn it!"
*Alright, one more try; Giga Drain!* Mason finally managed to perform the attack, draining Nidoking's health. The Nidoking groaned and fell to a knee.
"Earthquake." The Nidoking tried to concentrated but flopped again.
*One more time!* Mason tried, but failed.
"Poison Jab!" The Nidoking shook off his confusion and punched Mason. Mason roared, but thanks to his typing was at no risk of getting poisoned. Red growled inwardly and commanded
*Giga Drain!* Mason finally snapped out of his own confusion and launched the glowing seeds, draining Nidoking's energy. The Nidoking fell forward and passed out. Giovanni returned him and hissed
"You must be feeling really happy right now, aren't you?" Red smirked and nodded. Giovanni grabbed his last pokeball and released a huge Rhydon.
"Scared yet?" Red simply rolled his eyes.
"Earthquake!" The Rhydon jumped into the air and came down stomping on the ground, sending out a shockwave.
"Giga Drain!" Mason withstood the Ground attack, his health going to an all-time low, but quickly restored it by draining Rhydon's health. The Rhydon stopped groaned for a moment and then fell over, unconscious.
"WHAT?!" Red was somewhat surprised himself, then smirked, coming to the conclusion that Mason had gotten a critical hit.
"NO! HOW COULD MY ENTIRE ORGANIZATION BE TAKEN DOWN BY A STUPID KID?!" Red simply rolled his eyes, walking up to stand beside Mason, and told him
"Thank you for your help." Mason rumbled happily, and Red returned him, waiting on Giovanni for his prize. Giovanni threw the badge at him and hissed
"Get out!" Red caught it and turned, heading out without complaint. After going to the Pokemon Center and healing up Mason, he headed west onto Route 22, though it wasn't long before he spotted his rival, Blue, who called out
"Hold it!" Red was briefly surprised, but mostly found himself as a mix of curious and annoyed, figuring he knew where this was going. Blue saw him and was surprised as well, saying
"What? Red! What a surprise to see you here! So you're going to Pokémon League? You collected all the Badges too? That's cool! Then I'll whip you as a warm up for Pokémon League! Come on!" Red rolled his eyes and had Raijin run down his arm and jump onto the ground, which would serve as their battlefield.
"You think your rat is a match for me?" Red frowned, but simply made the "Bring it" motion. Blue smirked and released a Pidgeot, telling him
"I can beat you despite the type advantage." Red couldn't help smirking, and commanded mentally
"Thunderbolt!" Raijin built up a large mass of electricity, then blasted it at Pidgeot.
"Quick Attack!" The Pidgeot vanished, avoiding the attack, and reappeared hitting Raijin.
"Ha! See that? That's how a true world class trainer battles." Red rolled his eyes again, watching as electricity crackled over Pidgeot. The Pidgeot was immediately paralyzed and Blue noticed.
"Hey! You're cheating!" Red rolled his eyes, getting exasperated now.
"Just take it down with Thunderbolt." Raijin built up the electricity again, firing it. The Pidgeot was hit and taken out. Blue asserted
"Definitely cheating. I should report you." Red pinched his nose and sighed, severely disappointed.
"What?! You think you're better than me?" Red rolled his eyes, thinking
"I know I am; I've beaten you every single time we've battled."
"Well you're wrong. I'm more dominant and I'll prove it." With that, he released a Rhyhorn.
"Bulldoze!" The Rhyhorn began to glow and charged towards Raijin.
"Retreat!" Raijin jumped back to him, and Red sent out Mason to replace him. The Rhyhorn hit Mason and then looked up at the huge Pokemon. Mason looked at Rhydon, remembering the battle he had previously and figuring he knew what to do. Blue called out indignantly
"Hey! Who said you could switch out?!" Red snorted and took out his notebook, his irritation at a new high. He scribbled something down and threw it at his opponent, and it read
#It's a legitimate strategy, you dolt, and I'm not going to make my Pokemon take everything you throw at me like an idiot.#
"I'm the better trainer!" Red motioned for his notebook back, having a retort for this as well. Blue threw it back, becoming very angry. Red wrote again, tossed it to Blue, and the indignant boy read
#If you're really better than me, then how is it that you've lost every single battle we've ever had, and at your insistence?# Blue threw it back at him, arguing
"I was simply going easy to help train you." Red rolled his eyes, then decided to stop wasting time. He told Mason
"Giga Drain!" Mason launched the glowing seeds at Rhydon, trying to sap its energy. The Rhyhorn was hit by the attack and taken out. Blue returned it and said
"That's it! Any last words?" Red rolled his eyes, then wrote to him
#I'm mute, dumbass! I can't speak!#
"Oh whatever!" He then released a Growlithe.
"Ember!" The Growlithe collected fire and shot it at Mason. Mason withstood the small attack, with Red retorting
"Leech Seed!" Mason fired the small seeds, which took root and began to drain Growlithe of its energy.
"Kick it up a notch! Flamethrower!" The Growlithe collected fire in its mouth and fire the large Fire attack. Mason took the attack, suffering a bit from it, until Red told him
"Double-Edge!" Mason flew forward, surrounded by a white glow, and crashed into Growlithe like a train to a car. The Growlithe groaned from the blow and stood back up shakily.
"Flame Wheel!" The Growlithe rolled into a fireball and rolled over to Venusaur.
"Take Down!" Mason groaned briefly, then lunged forward and bashed Growlithe again. The Growlithe skidded on the ground and passed out. Blue returned it and sent out an Exeggcute.
"Extrasensory!" The Exeggcute's eyes began to glow and it sent psychic waves to Mason. Mason was struck by these as well, but Red quickly returned him, sending out Blitz instead.
"Hypnosis!" The Exeggcute began to stare at Blitz with its eyes glowing, sending out hypnotic waves.
"Avoid it, and use Flamethrower!" Blitz did so, for the most part just looking away from the attack, and when it was done he faced forward and blasted the searing flames from his mouth. The Exeggcute was hit by the attack and sent reeling. It held on and rolled back to its original position.
"Poison Powder!" The Exeggcute began to spin around and released spores towards Blitz. The draconic Pokemon growled as the spores sprinkled over him, inflicting poison on him, and Red told him
"Wing Attack!" Blitz's wings glowed white, and he flew forward at incredible speed, clipping Exeggcute hard. The Exeggcute groaned and fell unconscious, forcing Blue to return it. Blue released an Alakazam and called out
"Psychic!" The Alakazam's eyes began to glow and he threw Blitz away. He growled, annoyed, and Red told him
"Keep calm, buddy; losing it won't help us. Use Flamethrower!" Blitz reigned in his temper slightly, then blasted his opponent with the flames.
"Light Screen!" The Alakazam quickly erected a barrier that weakened the attack.
"Fly!" Blitz's wings became more angelic-looking, and with a single flap he took to the sky, hovering high in the air well out of reach.
"Calm Mind!" The Alakazam began to concentrate and increased its power. Red smirked, knowing that neither the Light Screen nor the Calm Mind would help against a physical move, which Fly was. So when Blitz came down, Alakazam felt the full power, plus the addition of STAB. The Alakazam skid on the ground and stopped itself with its powers. It appeared heavily hurt from the blow and grunted.
"Psybeam!" The Alakazam pointed its spoons at Blitz and fired a large multicolored beam. Blitz wasn't expecting the blow as he tried to land back on the field, being blown out of the air, though thankfully that was only a couple feet above. He growled threateningly, with Red countering
"Slash!" Blitz's claws glowed white, and he dashed forward, slashing at Alakazam.
"Disable!" The Alakazam's eyes flashed and Blitz forgot the attack, but couldn't stop the attack that was already in motion. It was hit and taken out from the blow. Blue returned it and released his Blastoise, who smirked at Blitz. He growled and was about to roar at it, but Red returned him and sent Raijin back out instead.
"What? Not going to let two old friends have at it?" Red rolled his eyes, hardly thinking a friendship existed given his behavior since they had met.
"What's wrong?" Red shook his head, then started the battle.
"Thunderbolt!" Raijin built up the large amount of electricity, then fired it at his opponent.
"Protect!" The Blastoise erected a shield that blocked the attack.
"Again; they can't defend forever!" Raijin repeated the attack. Blue smirked, saying smugly
"You're forgetting something." The electricity hit the Light Screen from before, weakening the attack.
"That's still active. Flash Cannon!" The Blastoise pointed its cannons at Raijin and fired the attack. Red smirked, and while Raijin was struck by the attack, the combination of a lack of STAB plus type resistance meant that Raijin actually didn't take much damage at all. Red countered
"Thunder Wave!" Raijin collected a small amount of electricity this time, and sent it to Blastoise. The Blastoise was immediately paralyzed by the attack.
"Like that'll stop us. Hydro Pump!" The Blastoise pointed its cannons, but it was stopped by its paralysis. Red smirked, then told Raijin
"Thunderbolt!" Once more, Raijin collected a mass of electricity and fired it at his opponent. The Blastoise was hit and forced to a knee. It forced itself up and Blue called out
"Hydro Pump!" This time, the Blastoise managed to collect the water and fired it.
"Quick Attack!" Raijin shot forward, avoiding the attack the same way Pidgeot had earlier, and slammed into Blastoise, though admittedly the damage it cause was laughably small. However, the main purpose of using the attack had been achieved.
"Aqua Tail!" The Blastoise' tail began to glow and it whipped it at Raijin. The Pikachu jumped and narrowly avoided the attack, with Red following up;
"Thunderbolt!" Raijin once more charged and fired, striking point-blank. The Blastoise was hit and was immediately taken out by the powerful Electric attack. Red smirked, and Raijin went back to his side of the battlefield. Blue seemed horrified and exclaimed
"No! You cheated! You must have! No trainer in the world is better than I am!" Red rolled his eyes and shook his head, kneeling down to let Raijin back on his shoulder.
"I'm going to become the Champion and everyone will bow to my feet!" Red sighed, severely disappointed, and turned to head back to Viridian in order to restore his Pokemon.
And that'll do it for today. Hope you guys enjoyed. Later.
