Hardly a minute had passed before he heard the majority of the student body buzzed in anticipation, crowding around a rather familiar vehicle.

It was black.

It was expensive.

It was their family owned limo.

"It looks like the rest of the Sakamaki's are back."

"What even happened?"

"I heard the oldest one, Shu, snapped at his brother for stealing his girl."

"You've got it wrong, it was because Ayato had broken Shu's phone or something right?"

"No, you're both incorrect he broke Shu's music player."

"Oh shit! Anyone who knows Shu knows you don't mess with his music."

All the chatter just sounded like a loud ringing noise to Shu's sensitive ears, so he left the scene and headed towards his first class of the day, English.

When he keeled over onto his seat he decided to warn the others telepathically.

Oi, Reiji, you better let that hothead know that if he so much as gives me a sidewards glance I will end him. I don't even know what's going on within myself. That Ayato really fucked me up when he ruined my MP3 player, no exaggerating just the thought of him makes my blood boil and my blood levels start going haywire with my emotions, so it's in his best interest to leave me the fuck alone if he knows what's good for him.

Almost immediately Reiji responded.

Okay, we'll try our best to keep the brat away from you, but since he's woken up in the hospital his rage is even more difficult to manage and apparently giving you a piece of his mind is his main objective.

The hell he will, that boy is always throwing tantrums no wonder Yui is getting fed up with him.

Did you come to school using your own car Shu?

No response.

Silence.

God damn it Shu!

The cool blonde smirked in his seat as he continued ignoring Reiji as he took out his notebook and started doodling during the teacher's lecture.

While the class started passing back their last graded classwork assignment Mrs. Kyoto, the instructor, explained that they'd be testing next class on Ordinary People the book they've been reading.

"Crap!" Ren, a brunette boy to Shu's left exclaimed, "I haven't even gotten past chapter 3 and we've already got a cumulative test? The hell?!"

Shu snickered, "Hey if you want I can tutor you about major plot points."

"Woah, really?! Thanks! I was going to resort to using Sparknotes by my lonesome…" The male whispered back with a crooked grin and vibrant green eyes.

Vibrant green eyes…

Betraying his vengeful ways, Shu didn't allow his mind to redirect his thoughts toward his airheaded half brother despite his cool exterior internally he was at odds with himself. It was as though his senses had heightened just to spite him as picked up on the familiar aura of his younger temperamental brother.

Futilely he made attempts to calm his nerves, but his hands just kept on shaking as he tried to at least answer some of the questions on his study guide.

What the hell is going on with me?!

The thought of strangling his neck with his own hands, seeing his prideful face morph into one of defeat and pure hopelessness, punching him hard enough to bleed…ideas like that were enough to distract Shu, classwork be damned. It was much more entertaining for him to relish the in the imagery his beautiful mind had provided him. Seeing Ayato gasp and pant for air pleading for his life to be spared when with the snap of his fingers he could freeze all his veins, let him thaw, and then freeze them again.

A wicked smile shattered his previous nonchalant expression, he couldn't contain his excitement, and quite honestly, he was trying to resist the urge to laugh.

Snap!

The blonde's writing utensil broke in two within his grasp, he felt someone tap on his shoulder, "Hey man you've been a bit spacey today. Do you think we could review the book during study hall or something?"

"Yeah, sure." Shu shrugged as his finger kept strumming against the desk and he couldn't help but rapidly tap his foot against the reflective, polished hardwood floors.

"Where should we meet? The music room?"

Unintentionally the vampire couldn't help but smile at his consideration, "No, the library is suitable enough and there's less of a chance that I'd fall asleep."

"Oh gee Shu, you saw right through me but I was actually the one who wanted to catch some z's life's rough, man."

"I hear you."

"Well," The boy grinned freely, "It's a date!" He declared before he strode out the classroom.

The rest of the school day was rather uneventful, once he had rounded up with the rest of his classes Shu went by the parking lot and sat, perched in the driver's seat of his car. In a little less than five minutes his two light haired underclassmen had arrived.

"Hey." Subaru came in dryly sitting in the back.

"Hello Shu-san, how was your day at school?" Yui probed as charming as ever.

"It was fine, I'm gonna be tutoring some guy for a bit before our major assessment comes up in English."

Tentatively Yui spoke, "That's really nice of you Shu-san, I didn't think you cared about things like that."

Understandingly Shu nodded, "Yeah, the guy is pretty chill so it's whatever."

Subaru relaxed as he felt the gentle breeze caress his skin as Shu sped off. The nice peaceable conversation between Yui and Shu was enough to make him content.

"Are you alright in the back Su-Su? You seem to be getting sleepy and we all know dozing off is my thing." His elder brother teased.

Ignoring his mirthful blue-eyed gaze Subaru dismissed the nickname and the quip as his cheeks acquired a more rosy hue, "Oh can it Shu!"

"Aww did I embarrass you Su-Su?"

The young albino simply rolled his eyes and opted to stare out the window, young Yui's giggles only added to the more serene atmosphere between the three.

Although he tried his darndest to hide his smile it was still clear as day to the other passengers in the car.

I, uh, I…really like this Shu.

Subaru truthfully confessed telepathically the tint on his barely blushing cheeks getting just a bit darker, hardly noticeable to any mere human.

I like this too.

Solely the concept of feeling happiness without any lingering traces of guilt made him feel so much lighter than a lifestyle of killing blood and madness would usually permit. It was for this very reason Subaru was grateful, for sharing the ability to live as normally as possible Subaru couldn't place into words how much he needed things like this in his life.

"I'll catch up with you two later."

"Why what's up?"

Shu hid his face with his eyes in order to avoid potential embarrassment, "I've got a science project to finish."

"You're really staring give a couple more shits about school nowadays, huh Shu?" Subaru smirked.

"Yeah what of it."

"Nothing." The white-haired boy taunted, "I'm sure this has got nothing to do with a certain blue haired girl, right?"

"Correct." The elder responded plainly.

Yui picked up on the underlying message at the mention of hair color, "Oh, Shu, is Arabella your partner for the assignment you two will be working on."

Shu couldn't tell if he was annoyed or embarrassed, so he settled for an emotionless tone, "Yes, what of it?"

The small blonde exchanged a knowing glance with Subaru, "She is really beautiful Shu, and she's got a great personality."

I just thought that maybe we were or could be something a bit more…

Unsure of her own emotions Yui courteously excused herself from the two vampires discussion which was truly more of playful banter than anything else.

Yui was sure she liked Shu and Subaru and to be quite frank Ayato but what she was unsure of was whether Shu had her completely smitten or if there was still hope for herself and Ayato, but even if there was, would that reduce the strong feelings she still has for those other two brothers? Especially Shu, who is currently feuding with Ayato who constantly tries to claim her but has never made their relationship anything official.

How long would she just let herself be stringed along by the redhead with a charming smile and undeniable good looks? Did she even want anything to do with him?

As she walked aimlessly around the manor when she'd settled upon maybe meeting Subaru in the rose garden she instead bumped into someone falling onto the ground, she looked up.

Speak of the devil.

"Hello Ayato-san, I'm glad to see that you're doing alright." She backed up to take her leave.

Grabbing her roughly he murmured into her ear, "Where do you think you're going?"

"To my room?" Yui attempted to think on her feet.

"How about I join you?"
