Thank you so much for reviewing guys. Even if just a few come up, it still makes me happy! Please continue to review, or I will stop writing that story. If you guys don't like it then I'm totally fine with stopping it. But I like this one so yay :)

Jack POV

I looked down and tugged at the black sand ropes holding down my legs. Shine was looking around, staring wide-eyed at the sudden power the Guardians had, before her eyes trailed over to me and she gasped. She ran over and knelt to me, examining the black sand ropes. "Oh, are they hurting you?" she asked worriedly.

"Oh, don't worry, they're not that bad. I would prefer to get them off though," I motioned for her to help me. She lifted her staff and brought the not-curved end down on it, breaking the ropes and having them coil back into the cloud. I rubbed my legs before jumping to my feet.

"THANK YOU!" I gasped, bouncing a little on my heels before turning back to the scene ahead of me.

While the Guardians were slicing and dicing the nightmares, I saw the kids run up to one, squealing happily.

"Come on, guys!" Jamie laughed before reaching out and touching the nightmare. It instantly turned into golden dream sand and flew away.

"Woah..." Shine gasped as the trail of golden dream sand flew over our heads. She reached out and let it flow through her finger tips. A trail of sand burst away from the rest of the river and circled around her. She giggled as it twirled around her, whipping her hair around before flying away and joining the rest of the sand. She sent a sideways glance towards me and raised an eyebrow.

I realized that I had been staring at her and smiling. I quickly looked away. "Where's Pitch?"

Shine twisted to look over her shoulder and gasped, pointing. "There he is!"

Pitch's back was to us as he ran into the forest.

"Let's get him!" I leaped into the air, Shine following behind me. We swerved through the trees, easily catching up with Pitch and landing in front of him. He stumbled backwards. I was surprised when I saw an expression on his face I never thought I would see.

Fear.

I thrust my staff onto the ground and the ground covered in ice. Shine hissed in pain and shot back up into the air, hovering about two feet above the ground. Pitch looked down and saw the ice had wrapped around his feet. He was immobile.

I raised an eyebrow with realization. "He's weaker now."

"I am not!" Pitch growled.

"It's because the kids aren't afraid of you, is it?" I asked walking over to him, tapping my staff on my ankle.

"No! Everyone's afraid of me! I am the BOOGEYMAN!" Suddenly Pitch burst in an explosion of black sand. I fell backwards onto my butt, staring wide-eyed.

"He disappeared!" Shine grumbled in annoyance.

"I'm just as strong as before," Pitch's voice rang out in the darkness. "As long as I have my shadows, you can never stop me. And shadows are impossible to destroy."

"GAHH!" Shine slammed her staff into the ground, just like I had done. The ice melted instantly as flames burst from the ground. Now it was my turn to hover in the air, avoiding the flames licking at my feet. They didn't seem to bother Shine as she walked through the fire, the flames seemingly reaching for her as she passed. "I'm a Spirit, Pitch. And I can defeat you now."

"Spirit or not, you have no chance," Pitch slowly materialized in a tree branch next to me. I gasped in surprise, falling down on a branch. Shine hissed and the flames shot up towards Pitch, but his disappeared again. A spark fell on my leg and I screamed.

"OW! OW!" I wiped it off my leg and winced at the burn slowly growing. Shine winced as well, out of guilt.

"Sorry, Frost."

"It's fine. I'm fine." I stood up on the branch. "Where did Pitch go?"

"I'm still here, Jack," his voice hissed in the wind as he rushed through the forest, weakening Shine's fire. "I'm always here." The trees started to swirl around me until they were just a blurry tornado, and I fell to the ground. As proven by Shine falling on her butt and putting a hand on her forehead, I assumed she saw this too. The forest melted into an empty black field. I looked up at the starless night sky, then back down at the black, dead grass. Shine slowly rose to her feet, the grass crunching beneath her.

I spun in a circle. There was nothing but dead black grass for miles.

"Jack..." Shine reached out and grabbed the back of my hoodie.

"Welcome..." Pitch's voice whispered.

My fingers tightened around my staff, but they were shaking. I never felt this before. I looked down and gasped, seeing the dead grass slowly melt into the black sand.

"...to my home," Pitch finished.

I had a weird feeling. My chest was tightening. I couldn't breath.

Neither could Shine, I assumed. She had one hand on her chest, gasping for breath.

"My home is always there. I carry it with me. People get glimpses of it from time to time," Pitch explained as a moon slowly faded into the sky. Then, on the moon, Pitch's face appeared, still speaking. "And occasionally, people get sucked in. Welcome to Fear, my children."

"W-We're not s-scared of you!" I jumped in surprise at my voice. It was breathless and stuttering. I couldn't control it.

"Make it stop..." Shine whimpered. Her staff clattered to the ground as she fell to her knees, covering her ears. "Make it STOP!"

"Make what stop?" I asked.

"The screaming! The screaming! MAKE IT STOP!" Shine screeched, falling to her side and curling up into a ball, sobbing. I stumbled back, away from her.

"There's no screaming!" I said. "There's only..." I listened. "Silence."

It was all silence. It was almost deafening. My heart pounded in my chest as I spun around again and again, searching for some kind of noise. "It's silent, Shine!" my voice grew louder, as if trying to break the silence. "There's no sound! Why is there no sound! I can't hear anything!" My chest tightened even more. I let my staff fall as I wandered around aimlessly. "PITCH! Pitch, come back!" I begged. "The silence, the SILENCE!" I started to claw at my neck and face. "WHY IS THERE NO SOUND! I CAN'T HEAR!"

"SHUT UP!" Shine was thrashing on the ground now, pulling at her ears, trying to rip them off. "THE SCREAMING! STOP IT! WHY IS EVERYONE SCREAMING?!"

Through my silence, I heard a small chuckle. I looked back up at the moon. Pitch's moon face smiled down at me.

"You can't escape the fear, Jack. It will make you insane."

The black sand started to rise from the ground and swirl around me. I turned to Shine, but the black sand had started to create a wall between us. "SHINE!" I screamed, lunging for the wall. She was the only sound in my terrible silence! I need her! "SHINE!" I ran through the black wall. My top half burst through the wall and saw Shine curled up in a ball, but I couldn't pull the rest of myself through. Black sand reached out and grabbed my wrists, pulling me back. They wrapped around my neck, pulling at my face, my chest, anything they could grab. "NO! SHINE!" I struggled against their grasp as they pulled me back through the wall.

But it was still silent.

This seems intense, I think I'll leave it here.

Please review if you like it and want me to continue!
