Chapter 21
Wendy's P.O.V.
'Man, Wendy got her shit straight.' thought Keith. I walked up to him, and slapped him behind the head.
"Hey! What was that for?" exclaimed keith, holding his head.
"I know exactly what you were thinking about, you idiot," I replied, getting a worried look from Sakura.
"How would you know that?" questioned Keith.
"You act and think somewhat like Sven, so I can tell you were thinking something stupid like I got my shit straight," I answered.
His jaw dropped to the floor and both Sakura and Sven started laughing. Sakura, because I just said out loud exactly what he said, and Sven because Keith was dumbstruck.
"I have a question, though," said Sven, after he stopped laughing.
"Shoot," I simply replied.
"Why did they listen to you?" asked Sven, confused.
"It just happens that I know Lunick a little more than you do and have met both of them before." I answered, trying not to sound suspicious.
"When was that? I have spent most of my time patrolling with you, and going on missions with you," responded Sven, getting on to something, "When would that have happened?"
I did not need my mind reading powers to understand where this was going. Sakura must have caught on because she said, "Well, you should have asked me that question earlier, too. I don't have any memories of being a Ranger, at all, but I know he was Lunick's dad."
'Nice save.' I thought.
'No problem.' replied Sakura, with her mind.
I love telepathic communication.
"How do you answer both questions then? I'm curious to know." asked Sven.
That backfired quite quickly.
"Um… I happened to have met some people before, I suppose," replied Sakura, probably feeling just as cornered as I was.
"I am not satisfied with that. You are going to have to explain a little more than that. And what about you, Wendy?" responded Sven.
I wish he wasn't that curious or stubborn.
"Maybe another day," I said, trying to get out of this.
I still had to go check on Crystal. She didn't look as healthy as when she first woke up.
"Are you trying to evade the question?" asked Sven, "because it isn't…"
"Yes, I am. Right now is not the time," I said quickly, panicking and cutting him off.
He looked at me confused. I just realised that I rose my voice higher than normal.
"Looks like someone is stressing," stated Keith, who I had completely forgot about.
"Keith, I don't think now is the time to make any kind of smart ass remarks," said Sakura, slapping him upside the head, like I did earlier, "I reserve the right to hit you, if the situation requires it, before you even ask."
"Whatever," he said, rolling his eyes.
"What happened?" asked Sven.
Wow, that's one way to change the subject.
"Something happened to Kellyn, but Crystal fixed it," I replied.
I was being truthful. Crystal was the one who fixed it.
"As usual," said both Keith and Sven at the same time.
They fist bumped at the stereo response. I just rolled my eyes and Sakura smiled.
"Are you sure you should be up, Sakura?" I asked. "You had a forced swimming experience that was quite unpleasant."
"Yeah, I'm perfectly fine, Wendy. As fine as you can get after losing some memories, that is," answered Sakura, taking it cool. "By the way, we were asked to go meet up in the operation room. Something must have come up."
"Either Erma found out about what was happening or something new came up," I mumbled.
"What was that, Wendy?" asked Sven.
"Nothing just talking about what it could be about," I replied, faking a smile.
Sakura saw right through it. Sven took a second, but shrugged it off. Keith didn't even see a difference.
"How about we go up there, since we have nothing else to do here?" said Sakura, trying to get those two away from here.
"How about you go up ahead, I will be there shortly," I said.
"Keith, make sure Sakura gets to the operation room. I have something to discuss with Wendy." added Sven, turning to me.
Looks like I'm not off the hook, yet.
"Is someone jealous?" asked Sakura, starting to walk towards the other end of the infirmary.
"What are you talking about, Sakura? Did you hit your head harder than we thought?" responded Sven, stuttering.
"Forget I said anything," said Sakura, casually walking away, with a confused Keith behind her.
"Wait! I'm suppose to show the way!" yelled Keith, getting in front of Sakura, "This way!"
He started "leading" her to the operation room. Me and Sven just sweatdropped at that.
"So, what did you want to discuss?" I asked, making him jump.
"Umm… never mind that. What did you need to go do, before meeting up with us?" he replied, completely fluttered.
I think Sakura hit a sensitive spot.
"I was going to go back and get the others. Telling them what was happening here," I answered, turning around to walk back to where I came from. "Come along if you like."
After walking a couple of steps, I turned around and looked at him. He hadn't moved at all, looking at me, as if it were someone else.
"Are you coming or not?" I asked, snapping him out of his trance.
"Um.. yeah. Coming," he replied, walking towards me.
I turned back and started walking again. We both stayed silent until he said, "Can we talk a little later? Now is not the time to have this discussion."
"Whatever. It isn't as if we didn't spend most of our time together anyways, right?" I responded, looking at him from over my shoulder.
"Yeah. True," he answered, looking away from me.
I do have a rule not to invade into others privacy, unless they think too loudly and it overflows. It is really tempting to just screw with the rules and read his mind. We kept on walking quietly until we got to a partially closed door. Many voices were coming from inside and I got a confused look from Sven.
"Don't ask," I said, shaking my head, "There are just too many people that cannot take care of their own business."
"We all heard that, Wendy," said multiple people from inside the room.
"I know you did. I wasn't trying to be secretive about it, either," I said, pushing the door wide open.
The view both me and Sven got was beyond our imagination. That says a lot about it because of who I am.
