This one's quite short but Happy New Year I hope it's a good one. I also wrote this one before the last episode. I've got an AU that I'm writing and it's slightly childish but the idea wouldn't leave my head so I'm writing. Last story of 2014 from me. Enjoy and Happy New Year!x

"Why couldn't we stay in the flat!?" Lucy shouted over the noise of Southbank in London on New Years Eve. Lee had somehow persuaded her to go watch the fireworks by the London eye. Now that wasn't such a good idea as they were pushed and shoved around the little area that they were standing. She really needed the drink that was somehow still in her hand at the moment.

"We always stay in the flat during New Years," he complained as he stood closer to Lucy.

"MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!" Was all that Lee and Lucy heard either side of them as two drunken strangers came up to peck them on the cheek. That was the fifth time in the past half an hour. Also it made her drop her drink. DANM! Rolling her eyes she met Lee's gaze as he handed her a whiskey flask.

"Have a drink," he persuaded as Lucy took a swig, glad of the warm liquid that travelled down her throat, "c'mon let's go and find somewhere to stand. The countdown's starting soon." And with that Lee weaved his way through the crowd, Lucy trying her best to keep up with him.

"Who are you kissing at midnight, sweetheart?" Some strange bloke asked as she walked past him.

Without even casting a glance back she replied, "not you." Finding Lee through the crowd he raised an eyebrow at the scowl on her face as her arms crossed across her chest as she joined him at his side.

"What's wrong?" Lee chuckled as Lucy grabbed the flask out of his hands and took a big swig before wincing at the burning liquid running down her throat.

"Bloody drunken idiot asking if he could have a kiss at midnight. Don't even know the bloke," Lucy grumbled as Lee gave a comical smirk although he wasn't happy that other people wanted to kiss her. He couldn't blame them but he was hoping...maybe he'd possibly get a kiss.

"Don't go kissing anyone you don't want to," Lee said in a tone that betrayed a father as Lucy smiled at his slight protectiveness.

"I won't," she promised as her arm linked through his.

"Alright Scrooge it's ten minutes till New Years," Lee teased as Lucy jabbed him in the ribs. Chuckling Lee offered her another swig as she held on to his arm.

"2015 soon," Lucy sighed as Lee nodded his head.

"Any resolutions?" Lee questioned as Lucy handed the flask back to Lee.

"The usual, stay healthy. You?"

"Might do but I'll tell you after New Years," he replied as Lucy rolled her eyes before turning back to look over the Thames. Them both falling in to silence.

"Ready to welcome in the New Year?" A older woman asked as she sidled up to Lee and Lucy's side. Startling slightly the both turned to face the old woman simultaneously.

"Yeah," Lucy and Lee said as they glanced at each other before turning back to the woman at their side, "you?"

"Hm yeah. My husbands buggered off to get some beer. Yours has seemed to stick by your side," at that Lee and Lucy's arms dropped from each other and their mouths hung open. Did they really look like they were a couple?

Stuttering Lucy and Lee answered the same time, "no...we're not...together," they exclaimed as they waved their arms frantically between each other.

"Oh sorry it's just...you look sort of cute together...right I'm off to find my husband," the woman explained awkwardly as she gestured with her thumb over her shoulder before scampering off.

Lucy's head bowed down as she scuffled her feet slightly. Well that was awkward. Lee had decided to stuff his hands in his pockets and to bounce on his feet slightly. A few minutes past where they stood in silence. It only being interrupted as the countdown began.

"10...9...8," soon Lucy's head popped up and she began counting down along with the rest of the crowd,"7...6...5...4...3...2...1. Happy New Year!" And with that the fireworks began going off. Turning her head of peer round Lucy smiled at all the embracing couples before turning her head back to Lee's.

"Happy New Year."

"Happy New Year," he replied as he turned to face her. Going to give him a kiss on the cheek, Lucy got pushed and her lips missed his cheek and landed on his lips a squeal coming from her mouth as Lee grabbed on to her shoulders to steady her. What surprised her the most is that she didn't pull away straight away and instead her eyelids closed as her hands made their way to his shoulders. Lee surprised by this let his eyes slide close as he reciprocated the kiss as one of his hands moved to pull her closer and the other going to the back of her head.

In the background the older woman smiled as she saw the couple, her husband standing to her right and her daughter to the left.

"You both did well," the daughter remarked as she watched Lee and Lucy pull apart to rest their foreheads against each before other kissing again, Lee trying to bring her even closer.

"I agree, Daisy," her father replied as they left the two alone before they got caught.
