Chapter 21: Identities Revealed: Tarlock
Goku's Mind, White Area
Goku's body was being brought back to Konoha by Kakashi and Guy, so that he can be examined by Tsunade. While his body was being carried, something happened inside his mind that only he knew. He saw himself standing in a large, wide open area with no company around.
"Where am I, what is this place?" Goku asked confused while looking around
While he looked behind him, he saw a man sitting on the ground, enjoying his dinner which was a giant fish. The man stood up with a fish in his hand. The man had wild middle length hair and five hairbangs pointing forwards. His lower body consists in dark blue fighting pants up until his ankles with white boots and in the middle, a white belt surrounding his middle. His upper body consists of an open, long, thin black fighting vest. Goku saw him and approached him by slowly walking towards the man.
"Excuse me sir, do you know where I am?" Goku asked friendly.
The man turned around and he looked straight in the Saiyan his face, he then finished his fish and ate the rest.
"Can I have some fish too? I'm pretty hungry." Goku asked.
"Hehe, sorry, but that was my last one, you were napping for a long time. You snooze, you loose hehe." the man said.
"Aaawwhh." Goku mumbled sadly.
The man stretched his limbs and looked at Goku.
"What is your name?" the man asked.
"Hi, my name is Goku, a Saiyan raised on Earth, nice to meet you. But do you know where I am?" Goku introduced himself.
"This is your conscious, I have put the connection between you and the living world on hold, so you seem dead in the living world for a short time while your spirit is inside your mind." the man said.
"Oh, so I am not dead?" Goku asked.
"Yes, I mean no... Wait, that is not right uuhh... your mind is in your spirit... eehh no that is not right either. It is kind of hard to explain but you are not dead. Goku, can you guess who I am?" the man asked.
Goku looked closely at the man, but had no clue on who the man was.
"I'm sorry sir, but I don't know your name." Goku said next.
"Heehh..." the man sighted when he scratches his head. "I guess they all forgot about me like he did. I'll tell you who I am." the man said.
The man walked to the left side and then looked back a Goku.
"My name is Tarlock, I am a Saiyan just like you. I'm from Planet Saiyan, home of the Saiyan race before it got destroyed." Tarlock introduced.
Goku looked confused but then shocked to hear the news and who the man was.
"Uuhh... Daaahhh, you are... a Saiyan too!" Goku yelled loudly while pointing at him.
"Yep, you and I are the same species." Tarlock said.
Goku looked angrily and turned his back to him.
"I am sorry, but if you are a Saiyan, I don't want anything to do with you." Goku said disappointed in his race.
Tarlock narrowed his eyes and puts his head down.
"Oh, I see..." Tarlock said curious.
Hospital of Konoha
Meanwhile, Guy and Kakashi arrived back in Konoha with Naruto, Sakura, Ino, Shikamaru, Ino, Hinata and Choji. Guy and Kakashi went with the group to the hospital, while Sakura and Naruto quickly went to the Hokage office to get Tsunade. The due knocked on the door of the Hokage.
"Come in, keep it short." Tsunade said loudly.
Sakura and Naruto walked depressed inside and approached her desk.
"Naruto, Sakura, what is it? Is the fight over." Tsunade asked.
"Lady Tsunade, something terrible happened. Because of Naruto, Goku got hurt badly." Sakura said.
"And... What does that have to do with me?" Tsunade asked uninterested.
"What do you mean?" Sakura asked confused.
"You heard me Sakura, what does Goku getting hurt have to do with me?" Tsunade asked when she stood up.
"You have to heal him fast, when I checked his heart, I didn't hear any beating. You are the only one who can save him. Please Lady Tsunade, he will die if you don't help him." Sakura begged.
"I am too busy to waste my time on him. You are a well-trained Medical-ninja, aren't you." Tsunade said.
"But why, was the fact that Goku weakened himself really that bad for you?" Sakura asked.
"Yes, to me it is, knowing the truth that I was beaten by someone who was not even trying..." Tsunade said when she walked up to the window. "It damaged my confidants. We are in a war Sakura, a war with creatures having more power we imagined and I was certain to beat them. I wanted to fight seriously with him later and test my strength. But now that Goku and those creatures have the same powers and he was making himself weaker so that I could beat him, I don't know if I can do that much anymore." Tsunade said saddened.
"Lady Tsunade, I know that what he did was wrong, he shouldn't have lied to us, but you need to remember one important thing." Sakura said.
"Explain." Tsunade said.
"Goku saved all of our lives in the Broly attack. He protected the village by absorbing his devastating attack, if he didn't, we would all be dead and Konoha would be no more. He even saved the Five Kage and the people inside the city. Goku didn't want to use his real power because it is too dangerous and wanted a fair fight. You have to understand that. He respects you for who you are. He may have been here for a short time, but he proved himself to be a friend of Konoha, and yours too. Stay here moping in your office all you want, but if you won't save him, then I will." Sakura said angry and encouraged when she walked out of the office and went to the hospital
Tsunade yelled angrily and threw her chair out of the window.
"Ouch!" a citizen yelled who got a chair on top of him.
Naruto still looked guilty at Tsunade and simply walked out of the office. Shizune with Tonton in her arms looked worried at the Hokage who was angrier than ever.
"Lady Tsunade, Sakura has a point. He didn't do anything bad, what is your decision?" Shizune asked.
Tsunade opened her eyes and looked out of the window.
Goku His Mind, White Area
Back at Goku. Tarlock was not surprised at all that Goku wanted nothing to do with the Saiyans. He thought for a second and suddenly, asks Goku a question.
"Goku, do you still have your tail?" Tarlock asked.
"No, it got cut off a long time ago, I am glad that it is gone. I killed my grandfather because of my Great Ape transformation." Goku said.
"I understand, mine got cut off too. You know about the Super Saiyan God transformation and the way to become one, right?" Tarlock asked.
Goku turned back to Tarlock.
"Yes, I know what it is, you need six pure hearted Saiyans to become one and some other stuff?" Goku asked.
"I am not like the other Saiyans you have known, look closely." Tarlock said.
He clenched his fist and a strong sound wave was channeled around the white area. Goku covered his eyes from the impact, when he looked back, he got an even bigger surprise before his eyes. Tarlock has changed into a Super Saiyan God.
"Woow, you are a Super Saiyan God too, but how did you do it without other Saiyans?" Goku asked confused.
"A lot of practise with my friends and family. They trained me to become a strong warrior." Tarlock said.
"So, there were some good-hearted Saiyans after all?" Goku asked.
"Yes, but that was very rare on our original planet, to be a Saiyan not like the others, evil, barbaric, so many of us were not respected and even ignored." Tarlock said.
"Wait a second, are there more Saiyan Gods than just you?" Goku asked.
"No, I don't think so. In the past, I was the only one capable of wielding such a power, my friends couldn't stand its power and changed back after a couple of seconds. But that is a long story." Tarlock said.
"I get it, I know who you are now!" Goku said .
"You do?" Tarlock asked curious.
"Shenron told me that the very first Saiyan God appeared on Planet Vegeta and that he failed to defeat the evil Saiyan because of the time limit. Tarlock, you are the Saiyan God from Planet Vegeta!" Goku said.
"Yeah that pretty much sounds like me, I remember it all very well. That Shenron was right, I did fail to defeat them." Tarlock said when he puts his head down from disappointment.
Konoha Hospital
Sakura and Naruto went to the third floor where Kakashi and Guy brought Goku. When they opened the door, Kakashi and Guy turned around and saw the duo coming in.
"How is the situation?" Sakura asked.
"Not well, the doctor said that he might even die in a couple of minutes. Only a well-trained Medical-ninja can help him further out. What did Lady Tsunade say?" Kakashi asked.
"She is still angry at Goku, so she does not want to help. But if she won't do anything, then I will do it myself. Kakashi sensei, Guy sensei, please, I need to concentrate." Sakura said.
She grabbed a chair and sat down next to Goku.
"Alright then, come on Naruto, we need to leave her alone." Kakashi said when he touched his shoulder.
"No Kakashi sensei, Naruto stays, here." Sakura said when she pointed at the floor.
"Don't be too hard on each other." Kakashi said.
"No promises." Sakura said.
Naruto slowly approached the hospital bed. Sakura concentrated her chakra in her hands and performed the Mystical Palm Technique. She focused on several part of his body while she tried to heal her teacher. While she was busy, she spoke up to him.
"Naruto, why did you do all of this?" Sakura asked sad.
"Sakura, I..." Naruto questioned.
"You had to do this because... why? Was it the Ramen, or that he was annoying you, or maybe because I have been gone for a couple of days?" Sakura asked angry.
"You know I would never kill anyone. He was going crazy by changing red. I had no choice but to use a strong technique to defeat him. I didn't know he was already back to normal, it was an accident." Naruto said.
"Does that scenario sound familiar to you? Changing red and attacking everyone?" Sakura asked.
"I uuhh..." Naruto hesitated when he scratches his head.
"Remember at the bridge with Orochimaru and Kabuto, you changed into the Nine-Tails cloak. You attacked everyone around you and lost control, until Captain Yamato restrained you. Did we decide to kill you because you changed?" Sakura said when she looked straight at him. "No, because you were our friend. This was the exact, same, thing, but the difference is that Goku was actually strong enough to not let it consume him. You two aren't that different from each other Naruto. I have to deal with your annoyance, so you have to deal with his." Sakura said.
"I just don't get it Sakura, why do you care so much for him? He was just your teacher." Naruto asked.
"Are you really asking me that? From all the people, I thought you would understand why. Goku was to me like Jiraiya was to you, a master and a close friend." Sakura said.
"Ooh... Guess that never came up to me, I hope you can forgive me for this Sakura, I'm sorry." Naruto apologized.
"You can go now, I'll think about it." Sakura said when she continued.
Naruto walked over to the door and opened up, to his surprise, Lady Tsunade stood before him. She walked passed him as Sakura saw the Hokage.
"Lady Tsunade, you came?" Sakura said surprised.
"I was thinking about what you said, and you were right." Tsunade said.
Sakura smiles to the Hokage and made way for her.
"Goku indeed became a friend, he reminds me off Jiraiya sometimes, the only difference is that he is not a pervert." Tsunade said.
"Told you so idiot." Sakura said to Naruto at the door.
"He became an ally not only to me, but to everyone in Konoha. He proved himself to all of us, now that he helped us out, I will help him out. Naruto, Sakura, leave, I need to work alone. I will let you know about the progress." Tsunade said.
Sakura stood up and walked out of the door, Naruto followed her to the hallway as they both sat down on the first bench they saw. The operating sign lighted red and the door was closed.
Goku His Mind, White Area
Goku looked at Tarlock who changed into a Saiyan God without other Saiyan around.
"So there were 6 pure hearted Saiyans fighting for good?" Goku asked.
"Yes, me and my friends were the protectors of our race and the Tuffles. I was the on of the leaders, together with my friends Hiruko and Zanja." Tarlock said.
"That is great, you are just like me. I'm sorry about what I said earlier to you, but King Kai told me that the Saiyan race was pure evil and that they conquered innocent planets." Goku explained.
"You don't need to apologize, I understand your anger towards our kind. I have experienced their nature since my youth. So the Saiyans conquered not only the Tuffles, but other planets as well...?" Tarlock said disappointed.
"Yes, but they were extinct by someone called Freeza." Goku said as he noticed something on Tarlock his head. "But how did you get here, you got a halo on your head so you are dead." Goku said.
"I spoke with the boss of the check-in station, King Hemma." Tarlock said.
"King Hemma? You mean King Yemma?" Goku asked.
"No, King Hemma, he told me that he has a twin brother called Yemma. You said that I failed due to the time limit, but that is not how I died. I actually died in this universe years later, that is also the reason I was able to appear here and not in my original home world." Tarlock explained.
"That is why no one has ever heard of you, you were in this world all the time." Goku said.
"Yeah. During the Saiyan and Tuffle war, I ended up in this world by accident. Due to my good deeds of protecting the ones I loved and living in peace for so long, I was allowed in the Otherworld and trained there in the afterlife for many years. I met some really nice people and fighters, and there are some pretty weird people as well. Not long, I met this guy called Jiraiya, he is writing a book about some weird stuff. Couple days ago, I caught him peeping in the women's room, he is a good guy, but he needs to watch it or King Hemma is going to get angry. During my time there, I have improved my God powers since them, and I can perfectly control my ki. When I sensed the same God ki on Earth, I feared the worst and asked King Hemma to get permission to go to Earth to see the one that changed. Thus, I came to you Goku." Tarlock said.
"I see, but I don't want to become a Saiyan God, I don't want powers that came from my friends. It does not feel right." Goku said saddened.
"Don't be sad Goku." Tarlock said when he grabbed his shoulder. "You are not using your friends powers. If you can change into a Saiyan God without six other Saiyans, the God form is your own power. But there are disadvantages however." Tarlock explained.
"Disadvantages?" Goku asked.
"One of them is that the attacks you want to do in God form are limited to the amount of ki the one possesses." Tarlock said.
"But what about the God ki you talked about? When I changed, it was so hard to control, it almost seems impossible." Goku said.
"The God form is possible for every Saiyan, but controlling it or making it your own is not as easy as becoming one. God ki is the strongest ki in the universe, and the most difficult energy to maintain. Using too much will shorten the time limit of the God form. But only when you train hard enough." Tarlock said when he raises his hand and God ki appeared in a ball with in the center the ki spinning around.
"And you control your ki, you can do extraordinary things with the God mode for a long time. If you are fully trained, you will be able to become a full Saiyan God like I am. Watch." Tarlock explained when he changed again.
His hair got red with this time, it got straight upwards like a Super Saiyan. His black vest and white pants changed dark red. At last, Tarlock got a red strip on his shoulders going to the middle of his chest, with in the middle, a sign in the form of a rhombus. Goku was astounded at Tarlock and his transformation.
"Wow, how do you do that? Your power, I can't even read it! " Goku asked.
"This is the full power of the God form, the Saiyan God form. If you can fully control your God ki, many special abilities come with it that are more powerful than before." Tarlock said.
"There is so much about this God transformation. I still don't get it, can you explain both of them again, are they like different levels of transformations?" Goku asked.
"No, it's all one transformation, no levels. The first mode, God mode, is the normal transformation for Saiyans, but the Saiyan God mode is an almost full powered God. It is something that is not easy to get access to. To master it, is years of practise necessary, it might be impossible for some. I don't have difficulties with the Saiyan God mode because I have years of practise with it." Tarlock explained.
"Eehhh..." Goku mumbled.
"You still don't get it?" Tarlock asked.
"Uh... no..." Goku hesitated.
Tarlock puts his head tiredly down while sighing deeply.
Konoha Hospital
Back in the hospital, Naruto and Sakura were sitting on the bench across the operation room. Naruto looked at the ground while Sakura had her eyes closed and prayed for Goku.
"Come on Lady Tsunade, I know you can do it." Sakura thought.
Naruto gave a small look at Sakura and looked back at the ground.
"Why did it had to happen, what she said was true, Goku is for Sakura like Jiraiya sensei was to me. I don't know if she will ever forgive me for this." Naruto thought.
Suddenly, the operation sign stopped glowing and the door opened. Naruto and Sakura looked at the door and saw Tsunade walking out with her head down. Sakura looked worried and spoke up.
"And, is he going to be alright?" Sakura asked worried.
Tsunade shook her head and nods 'no'.
"I'm sorry, I literally tried everything I know, but it didn't work. My chakra can't heal his body because he does not have any chakra, so it can't connect. I promised him that I would find a way to heal him with my better techniques, but I haven't worked on it. Naruto, Sakura, Goku is dead." Tsunade said saddened.
Sakura widens her eyes and shed a tear, with more tears she started to cry. Naruto had his head down once again, punching his leg out of anger. Tsunade stood in front of the due.
"Naruto, I need your help to get Goku out of the hospital. Sakura, write a letter to Trunks, he needs to know the news." Tsunade said.
"Yes, Lady Tsunade." Sakura said when she left to the reception desk.
Tsunade and Naruto went back inside, Sakura went to the reception and grabbed a pen and paper.
She wrote the following letter;
Dear Trunks, I wrote you this letter because of a terrible accident. Unfortunately, a good friend of you and me, Goku, passed away just now. We will give him a proper burial and I want you to be there. I'm sorry if this comes for a shock to you, but we did everything we could to prevent all of this from happening. We hope to see you soon. Yours Sincerely, Sakura Haruno.
She saw a returning messenger ninja, Hanno, coming inside the hospital and delivered the package. Sakura approached the messenger.
"Hanno, glad you are here, can you deliver this letter to a man named Trunks, he now lives in Kirigakure, tell him this letter came from Sakura Haruno from Konoha." Sakura asked.
"Of course Sakura, I will deliver it as fast as I can." Hanno said when he ran out of the hospital and ran towards Kirigakure.
Goku His Mind, White Area
Tarlock was getting tired off Goku who still didn't understand the Super Saiyan God transformation.
"Alright alright how about this, you have the half of a big fish. When you find the other half, you have a whole fish. Now compare the fish with the God form, you are on half strength, now that you found the other half, you have a full God, so full power." Tarlock said.
"Ooohhh... now I get it." Goku said.
"Great, I was starting to run out of ideas to explain it." Tarlock said tired.
"But I do have one more question." Goku said.
"Another one?" Tarlock said.
"You said that you didn't die on Planet Vegeta, but in his world. What is your real story, how can someone as strong as you even die?" Goku asked.
"Oh I see, you want to know more about me. Alright, I'll show you." Tarlock said when he raises his hands.
Suddenly, a huge TV appeared with Tarlock seen sitting on a bench.
"Come on, sit down." Tarlock said.
"Okay... I guess." Goku said uncertain.
"This tv will show you my life, and everything you want to know... I will use this instead of explaining it to you in a flashback." Tarlock said when he snapped his fingers and food appeared in his hands. "Popcorn?" he offered Goku.
"No thanks, after talking about fish all the time, I rather have a fish now." Goku said.
Tarlock once again snapped his fingers.
"Here you go." Tarlock said when he handed over the fish to Goku.
"Wow thanks!" Goku said. "I'm ready." he said.
"Alright, here we go, back to the past of my life." Tarlock said when the tv started.
Character analyses
About Tarlock, I feel that I have to explain more on how he looks like.
First, Tarlock's hair is a mix between Goku's hairbangs and Broly's wild hair, just picture it yourself.
Second, his torso consists of a long, black, thin and open fighting vest similar to the Namekian, Nail, but Tarock's vest is black instead of blue and it is shorter than Nail's as it goes until the middle waist. The middle is a belt similar on what Goku's belt looks like that keeps his pants up, Tarlock's is white instead of blue like Goku's belt.
Third, his lower body is a dark red baggy fighting pants similar to Broly's white pants, the difference between the two is that Tarlock does not have the red sash like Broly does, and Tarlock's dark.
So there you have it, Tarlock's appearance and looks. I hope you have the right idea.
Super Saiyan God information
Now about the SSJG forms. I have made up the following things, but the God mode is canon in DBZ, Saiyan God mode is not!
God mode: The original design and abilities from Akira Toriyama. This is the normal transforation for a Saiyan, with stronger attacks by the user.
Looks: Red hair, pupils, red ki
Saiyan God mode: This mode was made up by me, it is non-canon to the original series so don't take it too seriously, only take it seriously in my story. This mode is a major powerup for the user. It goes way above the 100%, but it is as strong as who the user is while the God mode can only go as far as 100%. This mode adds some features like more God ki, stronger attacks and an increase in fighting abilities. But the disadvantage is the time limit is shorter but can be slightly, very slightly be longer. Still, it depends on the user and if he can control the God Ki.
Looks: Also, the looks of the one that becomes the Saiyan God slightly change, the user will have spiked red hair like a Super Saiyan, the upper body clothes are normal red while the lower body clothes are dark red. At last, on the chest and shoulders are red lines going from the left shoulder, to the middle of the chest and forms a rhombus, to the right shoulder. I tried to think like Akira Toriyama and how he would handle the design by not changing much about the design and keeping it simple
