My Lifeline, Part 21

Disclaimer: I don't own we all know who does.

[2 months later – Paris Home]

B'Elanna stood up and stared at her husband. She got dressed and went over to the door. "I have to check on Katie and then can you watch her for a while? I have to go to the command area and check out the problem we were having yesterday with the shield grid."

Tom nodded and watched his wife leave to go and check on their daughter.

B'Elanna walked into the baby's room and stared at the beautiful baby girl that was still sleeping.

She went to the kitchen and began pumping a bottle for her.

B'Elanna went upstairs and tapped her husband on the shoulder. He grumbled. "Tom I pumped a bottle for Katie and I have to get to command."

Tom nodded. "In the fridge?"

B'Elanna nodded and went to leave. "I'll see you in a bit."

[Janeway home]

Chakotay picked up the baby and stared at his wife. "Did B'Elanna get that problem with the shield grid fixed?"

Kathryn opened her mouth to answer and Chakotay watched as his wife disappeared in a blue light.

[Maquis settlement]

Henley smoothed her hand over her baby bump. Chell stared at her. "You look good."

"I only wish I felt as good as you say I look."

"Don't worry: morning sickness shouldn't last that much longer."

"Easy for you to say you're not the one who's pregnant."

Chell reached out a hand and brushed it over her stomach. "Felt any movement yet?"

"Not that you'd be able to feel just butterfly movements."

He smiled at her. "I can't wait until I can feel it too."

"I have to go to the main area Jor messaged me a few minutes ago she said she had a surprise for me to see."

Chell nodded and watched her leave.

[Command area – Maquis settlement]

Jor stared at her former commanding officer behind the forcefield. "I knew we'd get you eventually. B'Elanna must be losing her touch if she let the forcefield down."

Kathryn stared at Jor. "This isn't right and you know it."

"Chakotay will do anything to get his wife back and you know it." She checked the settings and scanned Janeway. "And I see you're going to give him another baby." She smiled a sinister grin. "A little boy this time maybe or perhaps a sister for your little one."

She opened her mouth in shock. "I'm not pregnant."

"Even better no one knew." She checked the tricorder. "Yep, six weeks."

Kathryn shook her head. "Whatever you're going to do you know you don't have to."

Jor smiled, "But we do. We need the remains of Voyager to finish this settlement."

Kathryn shook her head. "You can always come back to the settlement."

Jor stared at Kathryn. "You think that all of a sudden we'd be accepted?" She stared at Kathryn, "Especially after we stole their pregnant Captain?"

Kathryn looked at the woman. "We all make mistakes and we accepted you when you were Maquis."

Chell looked at her incredulous, "Only because we were in the middle of the Delta Quadrant and you didn't have a choice."

Kathryn opened her mouth to answer and realized that to a certain extent it was true. She had been in a no win situation with half the crew she had needed.

She stared at Chell. "That may have been true in the beginning; but look later what happened. B'Elanna found Tom you found Jor, I found Chakotay."

Jor sneered at her, "Glad you finally admitted that that was the reason that we're all in the situation we're in at the moment."

Kathryn's mouth hung open she knew that Jor was saying it was all her fault. "There were other's besides me," She glared at Henley's pregnant form, "that whose life was improved by all of this."

Henley stared down at her pregnant belly. "This was not planned."

Kathryn stared at her. "Like this was?" She sighed. "Chakotay and I weren't trying to get pregnant and we weren't trying to put everyone on the ship out. We had a vote: everyone had a say."

Jor got in the middle and pointed a gun at her former Captain. "Well whether it was planned or not it happened and it changed all of our lives." She turned to Henley, "Not all for the better."

Henley grabbed the gun from Jor. "We can't just go shooting people for no reason. There is enough blood on our hands."

Jor shook her head and stared at her comrade. "Are you seriously defending her position and her decisions over the years?"

"I am saying that I can only imagine how hard it must have been on her."

"It was hard on all of us; why are you so concerned about just her?"

Henley placed a hand on her belly and felt her baby squirm. "I'm just saying she was in an impossible situation, one that none of us ever expected to be in and one that she had no control over any more than the rest of us."

Jor stared hard at Henley. "She had a choice. She destroyed the array and left us all out here."

[VOYAGER SETTLEMENT – SAME TIME]

"How did they get her out?"

Chakotay stared at B'Elanna. "There is a forcefield around this settlement."

B'Elanna sighed. "I checked out the sensor logs; the forcefield went down momentarily and they got her out."

Chakotay was livid. "Well figure out how to get her back."

[MEDICAL FACILITY – DOCTOR'S OFFICE]

The Doctor stared at the readouts. He had to find their former Captain.

God knows what they were doing to her.

He ran the scan outside the facility seeing if he could pick anything up. All of a sudden there was a beep on the screen and he realized that the implant that he had implanted in Kathryn Janeway was transmitting.

He shook his head that device was only supposed to transmit if there was ample level of HCG in her bloodstream.

The Doctor sighed this was the answer. He got up and made his way to the Command Center.

[VOYAGER SETTLEMENT – COMMAND CENTER]

Chakotay watched as the Doctor came rushing up to him. "I have the answer Commander."

The Doctor stared at him. "Remember those implants I installed in the Captain and all the other pregnant crewman to try and keep them safe in the case that we had a 'mutiny'?"

Chakotay nodded impatiently. "Yes but what does that have to do with her situation now?"

The Doctor stared at him, "Well it appears that the Captain has a hitch-hiker with her."

B'Elanna caught on, "And that implant was made to activate with the pregnancy hormones and to allow her to be transported through forcefields."

B'Elanna gave a couple of commands to the computer and got coordinates of the Captain. She smiled at Chakotay. "Congratulations."

Chakotay shook his head. "I didn't even know."

She laughed, "Maybe she didn't either and it was just lucky she was."

B'Elanna tapped a few more commands and Chakotay watched as a transporter beam deposited his wife in front of him.

Kathryn ran up to him. "Oh thank God."

Chakotay chuckled "So I hear our family is expanding?"

She smiled, "I had no idea Chakotay."

[MAQUIS SETTLEMENT]

Jor watched as Janeway disappeared before her eyes.

"Get her back!"

Chell played with the controls trying to get a lock on Janeway. "We can't they have a forcefield around her."

Jor hit the panel. "B'Elanna is back it seems."

Henley stared at Jor, "Maybe we shouldn't have done this."

Jor backhanded her and stared at her former Maquis crewman. "Maybe I shouldn't have trusted you."

Chell got between the two women, "Okay ladies enough. We have to get our stuff together and figure this out. We could be sharing this planet with them for a long time."

Jor stared at them as if about to say something and stopped herself. She looked at them one last time and walked away.
