Klaus POV

I removed my hand from her throat and backed away. "What the bloody hell are you talking about?" Rebekah demanded. Tanisha sighed, "She currently has the venom of over a thousand werewolf bites running through her veins." Elijah stepped forward, putting his hands in his pockets, "Then Niklaus' blood should help like usual. Why would he have to die?"

Tanisha rubbed her throat, "Think of it like this, a few drops of his blood, let's say half a glass, would cure one bite. To cure two he'd need to give more. Now imagine Caroline being attacked by hundreds, probably more, of werewolves. Each one of them bit her once. She needs more than a few drops of his blood."

"Do it." I say confidently. Rebekah shakes her head, "Nik, you will not die for Caroline." I scoffed, "Are you going to stop me? This is my fault, now I'm going to fix it." Elijah shook his head, "Don't do this Niklaus. She wouldn't want you to give up your life for hers, she'd want you to keep going, move on." Tanisha nodded in agreement, "I didn't know her for long, but I do know that she wouldn't accept this."

Caroline gasped and I rushed over to her side. "Nik?" I kissed her forehead and brushed her damp hair out of her face, "I'm here, I'm here love. You're going to be okay." She slowly shook her head, I could tell it took a lot for her to make even that small movement. "Please...don't do this." I grabbed her hand, "Everything's going to be fine, I promise." Tears fell from my eyes, but I wiped them away quickly. She took in a breath, "I know. Don't. Please don't." I kissed her, slow and sweet. This would be the last time I would be able to kiss her, the last time I'd be able to run my hands through her golden locks. I'd never get to stare into those gorgeous eyes again. I'd never get to see her smile, or hear her laugh. I pulled away and kissed her forehead one last time, gripping her hand in mine tightly, "I love you Caroline Forbes, always and forever."

I got up from the bed and turned toward everyone, "Let's get this over with, but not in here." Tanisha nodded and walked out. I began following her, but Elijah grabbed my arm, "Do not do this brother." I yanked my arm out of his hold, "Would you not do the same?! How about you?!" I turned to Rebekah. They were both silent, "I will not let you do this Nik. I will kill that witch before I let you kill yourself. I will save you from your own ridiculous decisions if I have to." Rebekah stated firmly.

I grab her by her neck and slam her against the wall, "If you do anything to stop this I will do worse than dagger you. Do not test me sister. If either of you intervene I will show you that there is a place worse than hell and pain worse than death." I let go of her neck and walk to the door, "This is my fault, she is dying because of me. That witch wanted to get back at me, Mikael wanted to kill me. Don't ask me to stand here and watch her die when I know I can fix this."

With that I walk out of the room, but turn around to look at Caroline one last time. Memories from decades ago attack my mind, memories of us together. The laughs, smiles, kisses, and just the moments when I'm holding her make everything harder.

I need to save her.

I walk into the room I hear Tanisha moving around in, the living room. "Do you have everything you need?" She is crushing and mixing things together in a bowl. "Yes, just lie down on the couch." I do as she says, then Rebekah and Elijah walk in. "Don't do this Nik." Rebekah pleads. I ignore her and decide to think about all of the great times I had with Caroline. "I'm not going to watch this." Rebekah then storms out of the room.

Elijah comes over to stand by me, "I do not agree with your decision, but I understand your reasons. I will not leave you brother, I will stay till the end. I will make sure Caroline is okay." I nod as I wait for Tanisha to start the spell. "Elijah, you need to get away from his body." Elijah steps away and Tanisha kneels beside me. "I'm sorry it had to come to this, but I'm going to make it right." She dips her hands into bowl she was mixing in earlier. Her hands are now covered in a black substance, "Take off your shirt." I do as told and she draws a symbol over my heart and a different one on my arm. She then draws the same symbol that is on my arm onto hers.

Her hands hover over the symbol on my heart and she starts mumbling. Nothing happens at first, I feel the same. "Ahhh!" The screams are not coming from me, but from upstairs. From Caroline. "What's happening to her?!" Tanisha only starts to mumble faster, "Answer me!" Blood starts flowing from her ears, eyes, and mouth. Caroline's screams intensify, and Tanisha soon joins her in pain. Now they're both screaming, but I can't move. My vision blurs, I can no longer breathe and I suddenly feel tired. I have the strongest urge to sleep and I can't fight it. My eyes close and all I see is darkness.

I gasp and my body jerks, but someone is pushing down on my chest. I open my eyes and look up to see Tanisha, she's still doing the spell. The fireplace comes to life and candles scattered around the room light. The flames are high and strong. I hear Caroline scream and I try to move, but can't. Then the worse pain I've ever felt hits me in the chest and a loud scream escapes from my mouth.

I can't describe the pain, but just as quick as it came it's gone. The flames die, Caroline's screams fade, and Tanisha's body falls to the ground. Elijah immediately goes to catch her, her body is jerking. "What is happening to her?" He questions, looking up at me for the answer. I sit up on the couch, "Why am I not dead?" The blood coming out of her ears, eyes, and mouth starts to come faster. She's still jerking when the symbol on her arm starts to sizzle. A pain in my arm causes me to look down and I see that the same symbol she drew on me is burning.

No, not burning, disappearing. It's almost as if it is being burned off of my skin. Suddenly her body stops shaking and she stops breathing. Elijah shakes her before checking for any sign of life, "She's...dead?" I look down at my arm and see that the symbol is gone. "I don't understand..." Elijah places her body on the floor then turns her arm toward him. The mark that was on her arm is now gone. He looks up at me, "She gave up her life for yours."
