#21 – Silent
All is still and quiet when he opens the door, careful not to make a noise.
Kotoha is sleeping peacefully on her futon, long lashes curled against slightly rounded cheeks, attesting to her still youth. The moonlight streams through the window, casting a pearl sheen to her skin.
Takeru kneels next to her futon, breathing a little easier at seeing her alive and well, the threatening scythe of death no longer hanging over her.
He'd nearly lost her today.
Despite his outward calm, Takeru doubts that none of the other Shinkengers had picked up on his inner rage, of just how tempted he was to descend to the Sanzo River, all to save Kotoha from certain death.
He is not expressive like Chiaki, and, in a way, he is envious of the younger Shinkenger's ability to do so; it's been so long since he's learned how to suppress his own emotions in favor of the greater good.
And so, Kotoha sleeps on, unknowing of what kinds of confessions he whispers to her, all of which, should he have his way, would never see the light of day.
