Oh, hey. I lied, okay? This is the last chapter. I'm sure there will be some futuretakes, but I'm currently in a haze of something like "cold medicine, NaNo, work, and WTF IS MY LIFE", so it might be a couple of weeks. :) Thanks to all of you for reading, taking the time to review, RT, or tweet me. I really appreciate your love. Big thanks to Capricorn75 and killerlashes because they've always got my back. I know we will see them again soon, I just need to figure out when.
Thanks again!

Blind Ambition – Chapter Twenty-One
"Are you awake?" Leah whispered in the dark hotel room.
"Of course I am. You've been tossing and turning since we went to bed," Edward replied as he rolled over and pulled her against him.
She sighed and tried to let the warmth of his body soothe her. "I can't sleep." The week before their trip had taken a toll on her, and found her worrying about things she never thought she'd have to worry about.
"Yeah, tell me something I don't know." He pressed a kiss to her shoulder and felt her shudder, and then he grinned. "Need something to help you sleep?"
"Why, do you want to try out your lecture on me?" she teased, trying to cover up her worry with teasing. Edward had gotten too good at reading her voice, and she didn't want to give anything away until she was ready.
"Ha-very-ha. Never mind."
Leah turned in his arms and wrapped herself around his body. "Please?" she breathed the word against his ear and he groaned, moving until he rested on top of her.
"All right, woman. You don't have to beg," he said against her mouth, and then silenced her reply with a kiss.
"Jerk," she managed to say before he disappeared under the covers to remove the little bit of clothing she'd worn to bed. He threw the blankets off of them with a flourish that made her laugh hysterically, so she reached up and pulled him closer by the waistband of his boxers. She tugged them off and he settled between her thighs, softly kissing her neck as she guided him inside.
"Promise me we'll never be boring," she whispered as she held him close.
"Never," he replied, his lips close to her ear.
"And you'll never be tired of me," she gasped as he bit down on her shoulder.
"Not possible."
"And that-"
"Leah," he interrupted her, breathing heavily.
"Yeah?"
"I love you, just shut up," he groaned as his hips moved faster.
"Got it," she agreed, letting her legs tangle with his.
His hands moved over her skin, still learning everything that she liked. He loved hearing all her little sounds and feeling the reaction in her body. It was the best thing he had, since he couldn't see her. Edward knew that when she whispered his name and her fingers gripped his hair that she was close. He knew she liked when his body covered hers, feeling almost all of his weight. She liked her hands twined with his and pressed into the mattress by her head. She liked to be kissed everywhere, and when she came she'd cry out softly and pull his face closer and kiss him until he did the same.
"I don't really know how I'm supposed to sleep now," she whispered as she tried to catch her breath.
"That was supposed to wear you out," he whispered back, letting his lips meet her gently over and over.
"No, now I just want you more," Leah admitted.
"Well, one of us has to speak in front of a class in a few hours so…"
"That's what coffee is for." She shrugged and pulled him down to her, wrapping her legs around his waist.
"Fuck," he groaned, shifting his hips and burying his face in her neck.
"That's the spirit," she giggled.
xXx
"You were so amazing, Edward," Leah sighed and clung to his hand as a crisp breeze fell over them. "I could listen to you talk about musical crap all day."
He laughed and kissed her forehead. "Thanks, love. Do you know where we're going?"
"No, I just thought we could walk. Enjoy the-"
"View?" he finished with a grin and she elbowed him gently.
She shrugged and pulled him to sit on a bench in the middle of the park next to NYU's main campus. "It's nice. Seattle has been so dreary lately."
"Has it?" he asked, reaching over to brush her hair from her face. She smiled and leaned into his hand. "I wouldn't know. Everything's brighter with you."
"You're so cheesy," Leah laughed, and leaned forward to kiss him.
Edward didn't respond because he had nothing to say. He knew exactly how cheesy it was, but he just didn't care. It took him a moment to muster up the courage to tell her what he'd been trying to since he finished his lecture.
"My professor asked me if I wanted to teach a class in the spring," Edward confessed quickly, and Leah was startled at the sudden change of subject. Of all things she was trying to prepare for, she wasn't expecting that.
"Oh. Really?"
"Yeah." Edward nodded. "He said they'd pay for an apartment close to campus and transportation and everything. I'd have an assistant, too."
When she didn't say anything, he reached over and searched for her hand in her lap. She let him take it, her eyes set on the park in front of her. On people strolling by without a care in the world, and certainly without caring about what was currently going on inside her head.
"Leah?"
She took a deep breath and turned to him, knowing it was her turn to confess. "I think I might be pregnant."
Edward was silent, his mouth set in a thin line. His shoulders moved with his breathing so she knew he hadn't died at the news that she'd been dying to tell him all week.
"You think, or…" he trailed off, not knowing what to say just yet. The thoughts were processing slowly, though. Elation started to spread through him, but he held steady.
"I took a test before we left and it was positive. I haven't been to the doctor yet and I wanted to wait until I did to tell you because I wasn't sure how you'd react and what you'd think because I know how you feel about children and-" she stopped, realizing that she had become a blubbering mess in the middle of a public park and because Edward had very gently cupped her face and drew her into a kiss.
"It's mine, right?" he whispered when he pulled away.
"Yes, you idiot," she said, though it sounded more like a sob. He smiled and her worry melted away.
"I love you," Edward told her while he brushed her tears from her face. "I already told him I couldn't take the job."
"I'm really glad you said no." Leah nodded and rested her forehead against his cheek.
"My life is with you. I just…I didn't know how much yet," he said softly.
"But you said before…" she trailed and he shook his head.
"I want it. I want everything with you," Edward told her, as he lifted her face back to his.
"This is about as close to everything as you can get, Edward," Leah teased gently.
"That's okay." He nodded and blinked quickly, though he wasn't able to stop the tears that had formed in his eyes.
Leah reached up and removed his sunglasses, then tucked them into the collar of her shirt. She kissed his cheeks, first one and then the other, tasting the saltiness of their tears mixed together.
"I did want this, you know. I just thought it was too soon to bring it up with you," Edward said with a small smile.
She laughed and threw her arms around his neck.
"No time like the present, huh?"
"There is absolutely no reason to postpone the inevitable," he agreed.
"What do we do now?" Leah asked with his chin rested on his shoulder. He shrugged and held her tighter.
"Whatever we want, love," Edward answered.
"Well, you're obviously going to marry me."
He grinned. "Obviously."
"Sooner rather than later, of course."
"Of course."
"And then we live happily ever after, I guess," Leah smiled and took Edward's face in her hands.
"Yeah, that sounds about right."
