Before I could exchange any words with the three demons i had just met Edel had grabbed my arm and dragged me into an elevator. The demons followed. I couldn't find out why the twins made me feel like I knew them for a long time, I felt like I could rely on them and that was a terrible feeling. I wasn't allowed to rely on anyone but myself in battle. The door closed and the metal box began to move .

"You'll kick some bad guys asses, Roo." The red haired demon said.

"You'll get your ass kicked too if you don't shut up, Cam." Grandark told him. I noticed he had a broad sword attached to his back. Why hadn't I noticed that before?

The black haired demon began to laugh again.

When the door finally opened again we were at yet another big hall, the only difference was that this one was incredibly empty. Only a single desk with various buttons was standing in front of us. Edel handed me a gun and suddenly white figures swarmed around us. They slightly resembled giant spiders but still small enough to barely reach knee level. The three demons didn't seem to be bothered by it. Grandark calmly removed the sword from his back and walked up to the moving things to cut them in half. He seemed bored.

The twins were equally bored, the one with the rifle yawning as he shot one of these things, the other not doing anything.

"What are those?"

Edel whacked my head again. "Robots. Stop with the questioning!"

I sighed. This was indeed boring. How as this a test? The small robots were cleared away in no time, I didn't even get the chance to shoot one as Grandark sliced almost all of them in half and the ones he missed where shot by the demon with the rifle. His aim was incredible.

Grandark kicked a head of a robot into the wall and lazily walked back to us. "Get the big ones out, Frost, this is boring."

"Yeah!" The red headed demon yelled. "Roo didn't even get to do anything." For some reason he seemed exited to see me fight.

I still wondered if I really wanted to do anything. The gun was too light for my taste and reloading it would be a hassle. I wished for my eyeteeth, I could reload them in seconds using only one hand. I doubted humans were capable of making demonic weapons though. Edel pushed a button on a desk and doors inside the walls slid open. More robots, bigger this time. They looked like persons, arms, legs, torso and a head. Grandark laughed loudly as he cut through the first one as if it was paper. What was his sword made of? The metal screeching and sparks flying sent shivers down my spine. These Robots were capable of shooting too.

The twins began to move, dodging whatever the robots were firing as they shot back at them. The rolled over the floor, lashing and kicking at the robots. I also noticed that these two worked perfectly together. They seemed to know what the other was doing and adapted to it. The Robots didn't seem to have an obvious weak point though, Grandark had to cut all of them in half. Even the twins who I have seen firing carious headshots didn't bring the two Robots they were fighting with down yet.

One of these infernal things came over to me and in a matter of second I was running through the room, trying to dodge whatever it was shooting at me. It weren't bullets, but the holes in the walls told me that it was better not to get hit. I managed to shoot the robot, but it had no effect other than a small hole. Cursing under my breath I shot once more, hitting whatever appeared to be the head of that thing. Sparks flew around me and it stopped moving for a moment, but then it started again and lashed out at me while shooting. I rolled over the floor managing to kick the robot. It lost balance and almost landed on top of me. I aimed for the head again, this time there were no sparks but the lights flickered and died. That probably meant that this thing couldn't move anymore.

When I turned I saw that the others had finished their opponents already. I was trying to clam my panting breath but they seemed perfectly fine. I really lacked practice. The twins were grinning at me, Grandark lazily walking back to Edel.

"You remind me of someone, Roo." Grandark whispered when he passed me, only for me to hear.

The red haired demon jumped at me, with an excited yell. I stepped away in the last second and he landed on the broken parts of some robot, then crashed into the ground. His brother was laughing madly at that.

"Roo, you have potential... but you lack style." Edel told me.

That hurt. "I brought that thing down." I growled at him. "That's all that matters."

"She's right, Frost." The black haired demon said when Edel wanted to say more.

"Preposterous." He hissed. "I cannot accept someone who fights without style."

I glared at him. "I got my own style."

And then I found a rapier pointed at me, three guns immediately pointed at Edel at that.

Mine because of a reflex, but I had no idea why the other two would do that. They looked angry almost as if Edel was threatening someone they knew very well instead of someone they had just met.

"Put that thing down, you might accidentally kill someone again." Grandark muttered.

"You're not the boss, Frost." The red head hissed. His purple eyes were staring at Edel, finger moving onto the trigger.

Edel dropped the rapier, eyes wide when he held up his hands.

The black haired demon wrapped an arm around my shoulder and grinned as he dragged me with him. He smelled of sweat and burned skin. Did he get hurt? His brother joined us soon after and grabbed the empty sleeve when my left arm would have been. He let it go immediately when he realized.

"Wah!" he yelled in surprise, maybe even shock. "Why did that happen?!" I saw him pout, thought he would start to cry any second.

"Cam!" the other demon yelled. "Pull yourself together."

Thankfully the red head shut up and the other removed his arm. They were getting too close for my taste, even though there as still nothing of the distrust I wished i would feel. It would make it easier to get angry at them. They weren't supposed to touch me.

Grandark lead the way to a staircase and pointed to a door. "Infirmary." He said quickly and went to the next door. "Vending machines."

Grandark seemed to have noticed my confused expression and sighed an annoyance. "Make sure to have coins, they don't take bills."

"They tend to eat your money though." Campbell growled. He seemed really angry, but I wasn't sure why. Of course it was bad when something took your money, but I didn't think that was the reason for him to be upset.

"Cam..." His brother warned.

Grandark pointed to a third door and opened it. "You can take a break here. There are showers and restrooms."

I took a look inside and found a couch, a TV, someone sitting at a computer and two doors that obviously marked the restrooms. By then Edel had caught up to us, nothing left of the startled human we had left down there. He was back to normal.

"Why are you wandering around?!" He yelled, about to whack my head again, but the black haired demon caught his arm. "Don't touch her." He growled.

Edel punched feigned a punch and while he was trying to deflect it, a kick into his side made him hiss in pain and stumble into me. I caught him out of a reflex, surprised. Who would have thought that it was that easy to bring him down.

"Sully!" Campbel yelled, immediately glaring at Edel, ready to punch him.

Edel managed to bring him down even faster than his brother. The demon hit the ground like a rock, not moving at all.

"Cam!" Sullivan shoved me away and fell to his knees next to his brother. I saw Edel walking away, then turned to Grandark who didn't seem surprised or shocked or anything i would have expected to see on his face.

"Get used to it, Roo. That happens every day." He told me. Edel wasn't trustable then.

I was worried about Campbel as he still hadn't moved. Sullivan looked up at me with wide eyes, for a moment, just a tiny second his face looked like he was asking for help, but it was gone as fast as it came and I thought I was imagining it.

"It's alright." Sullivan muttered and picked his brother up. "Frost just likes to push us around." He carried the red headed demon into the room Grandark had shown me earlier.

"They've got some issues." Grandark explained. "They aren't exactly here because they wanted to." He muttered as he came closer to my face. I was about to push him away, but he grabbed my hands.

"Cameras." He whispered. "They see and hear everything that happens here. Don't say or do anything unnecessary, or they will kill you."

I nodded slightly.

"Let's go outside for a while." He muttered and grabbed my arm.

As he was pulling me through the corridors I started to noticed the small black boxes on the ceiling. Those must've been the cameras.

Outside Grandark pulled me towards a small building and finally let go when he lit a cigarette and leaned against a street-sign.

"You're smoking?" This was surprising me more than it probably should have.

"You better start too, otherwise you won't be able to endure this misery..." He told me and handed me the package. I refused and frowned.

"What do you mean?"

He put the package back into his pocket and blew the smoke into the sky. "You'll question your judgment, your ability to solve problems, and humanity."

"Humanity has always been in question..."

Grandark scoffed. "That's true. But once you're in, you don't get out. Everyone who has tried was killed or is still on the run."

Great. Perfect. Absolutely Perfect. I growled silently.

"That scowl looks awfully familiar." Grandark remarked silently and stared into my eyes for almost a minute, then took the empty sleeve of my shirt and suddenly grabbed the remains of my left arm.

I flinched and jumped backwards, staring at him in shock. Why was he doing that?!

"The bounty hunter." He whispered as if someone could hear it, even thought there was no one in sight. So he had realized who I was. It wasn't surprising, considering that he was a demon too.

He threw his cigarette on the ground and stepped on it, then laughed for a moment. "How's zero doing?" that whisper again. "Still with that imbecile?"

I just nodded, unsure of what to answer. No one had ever mentioned that Grandark was still present and if that person was anything like the sword it was probably better not to tell him too much. I hadn't heard his infamous bickering yet though. Maybe he had changed too.

"We better go back. Frost will get suspicious if we're out for too long." He told me and walked back to the huge building.

I followed, surprised to find the twins waiting for us at the gate. I wondered why they didn't just follow us, but then I remembered Edel's reaction about the questions and stayed quiet.

As we walked back inside I noticed that Sullivan was swaying. It wasn't much and the untrained eye wouldn't have noticed, but it bothered me. Something was going on behind the scenes and I really wanted to find out what.

"Sully..." Grandark muttered after a while. "Stop being awake for the whole night."

"I wasn't."

"A nap on a couch and a gallon of coffee don't count as sleep."

Sullivan didn't answer and when we turned a corner I thought i knew why. Edel was standing there, obviously waiting for us.

"You will get to see the outside for a few days." He muttered, his face not showing any kind of emotion.

Sullivan and Campbel seemed overly happy at that, starting to laugh manically.

"Quiet!" Edel yelled. Both shut up."You have until Friday at 3 pm. You'll be back the moment the mission is finished. If the mission takes longer than the deadline, you know what happens to you two."

The twins nodded, their happiness gone as quickly as it came. Edel handed me a card and Grandark a map, then he dismissed us. Grandark lead the way again, I had no idea where he was headed. Campbell has clinging to his brother, it looked like he was crying. Why was he so worked up?

Grandark pulled a card from his pocket and slid it into the wall, i only noticed that there was some sort of device built in when I was standing almost in front of it. A door slid open, a room behind filled to the brim with all kinds of weapons.

"Pick. Cam you too."

Campbell slowly let go of his brother and headed over to one of the various shelves. He was constantly wiping his face, probably because he really was crying.

"Don't stare at him like that. He doesn't take the lack of freedom lightly." Sullivan whispered to me when he shoved me over to a shelf with small guns. They all looked like trash to me, until Sullivan reached one over. I still would have preferred something that was more powerful.

"The big ones might be too heavy for you." He explained when he noticed my gaze. "Humans suck at making lightweight weapons."

"Probably because they lack the material." I muttered and looked at the gun. It was heavier than the one Edel had given me slightly bigger too, and easier to reload.

After all of us had weapons and ammunition Grandark lead us to the cars. I thought he would drive us, but he walked past the cars and opened another door. There were motorcycles behind it.

Grandark turned towards me. "You can use these things, right?"

Silently I shook my head. I couldn't even ride a freaking bike. Eleazar had laughed like an idiot when he found that out. Back then we didn't exactly have that kind of transportation.

"Fine..." He sighed and handed me a helmet.

After I put it on Grandark ordered me to sit behind him. Great. The twins did the same, Sullivan in front. Closing my eyes I sat down behind Grandark and held onto the seat. Campbel was hugging his brother. There was no way i would do that.

"Our mission is to eliminate some genius that spreads nonsense about the government and has a lot of believers." A voice in my helmet sounded. Grandark's voice.

"How's he a genius if he got caught?" Campbell. Seemed like he had recovered from whatever had bugged him.

"He probably wasn't careful enough. Like two certain people." Grandark answered and it sounded like he meant the twins. Both got quiet and Grandark steered that loud machine through the town, the twins following.

After a while we reached left the town and soon reached a house that looked like it would break down any second. Great. Grandark stopped and got off, I almost crashed into the ground when I did the same. The twins laughed.

"This is our hideout for the next three days." Grandark explained when he unlocked the door.

"We're being tracked, so you better not try to run because that'll kill us." Sullivan muttered silently.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I wanted to know.

He scoffed and put his boot onto the motorcycle, then slid his pants up. A black ring was around his ankle. "This gets triggered when we leave a certain area."

"It's poison." Grandark explained. "To make sure they don't try to run again."

"Is that why you're locked up in the facility?"

Sullivan smirked. "Of course you'd figure that out..."

"Roo's-" Campbell began but he got a hit in the side's from his brother.

"Roo's a sharp person." Grandark finished for him.

We went into the building, and I didn't know what I expected, but it certainly wasn't shabby furniture surrounded by the most modern devices. Old pizza cartons were lying around, trash filling pretty much every surface that wasn't occupied by something else. Did they never clean up?!

It smelled awfully and the whole place was filthy. I didn't want to be here, at all. Also, wouldn't Sieghart get worried if i was gone for so long? What about Lime? I shook my head and shoved that thought away. I couldn't think about private matters. This was work.

The three demons immediately slumped down on the couches, Campbell and Grandark both having these portable computers on their laps and Sullivan peacefully asleep. Since i had no idea how computers worked and I had nothing else to do I decided to clean the place. Lime had always nagged me when my room was untidy. Lime. Again I was thinking about him.

"Hey, Roo!" Grandark yelled when I was almost done with the dishes. "The cameras here now show footage from last week, if you need a shower go take it."

"So you can peek on me? No thanks." I continued washing the dished, then Grandark was suddenly next to me.

"Well they say ladies first, but if you don't want to I take that shower." He grinned and headed to a room on the side. That seemed to be the bathroom then.

Ladies... I growled silently. "Roo, can you cook?" Campbell.

"No."

He whined as if he was going to die. "I'm tired of fast food..."

That disgusting food that Eleazar loved to death? I would probably manage some pancakes, but that would remind me of Lime. Shaking my head I looked into the fridge, realizing that I was pretty hungry myself. It was empty.

"There's nothing in the fridge anyway."

"I know."

"Then why did you ask?"

"Because I want decent food! And we can move in a certain area as long as either you or Gran is with us... your trackers disable ours..."

"So that means if both of you are alone you get poisoned?" I asked when I walked back into the living room.

Campbell nodded and put the computer on the table. I didn't like that. Somehow the few hours I knew the twins made me grow attached to them already. I really wanted to know why. Was my instinct trying to tell me something? Like what happened with Berkas? Could I trust this feeling?

"I still got some money left, so we can buy groceries..."

"The mission?"

"Gran already knows where the idiot is hiding. We usually finish the missions a few hours before the deadline so we have free time."

"That's how you two get your freedom..." I assumed.

He nodded and stretched, then he stood and walked over to the bathroom. "Gran we're getting food, don't leave the house!"

"Don't take too long!" was the answer.

Campbell looked nervous when he shoved me out of the house. It took about ten minutes of walking to find a grocery store, but it seemed like the demon knew the area. Still, he kept looking back, fumbling with his shirt.

"Something wrong?"

He flinched. "N-No... it's just that... I don't like to be without my brother..."

Nodding i walked on. Some twins were like that. "We'll be back soon."

Campbell kept quiet and entered the store, I was blinded by various things, mostly the bright lights and colors. Not many people were here but it was loud anyway. The demon took a basket and started filling it with various items. I had no idea what most of it was. While I was following I was wondering about Veigas. I hoped that guy wouldn't do anything stupid. Campbell suddenly stopped and I ran into him. He was trembling, his eyes wide, breathing heavily.

"What's wrong?" I asked, carefully shoving him out of the way. He stumbled and held onto me, almost making me fall.

"I'm too far away..." he muttered. I was afraid the poison had been triggered, but that didn't seem to be the case.

"I thought it would be okay... because I'm with you..." This was strange, worrying me quite a bit. What did that have to do with me?

"I need to go back..." he was about to leave me alone when I grabbed his arm.

"We'll go together, don't forget what you told me."

"I need to go back to him..." Tears shot into his eyes. "Something might happen again..."

"Take a deep breath. We have more than enough food, lets pay for this and then we go back. Understood?" I asked.

He nodded after a while and paid for the food. I couldn't imagine me being so attached to Lass, but I knew that it was the other way around. Campbell leaned against a wall, his arms crossed, face covered in sweat and eyes pressed shut. I managed to put everything into two bags, then nudged him with my foot. His eyes sprang open.

"Let's go."

The way back to the hideout was eerily silent. It seemed that no one passed this area at all, not even cars drove by. Campbell stormed into the house, leaving me standing there in confusion. As I walked inside, Sullivan was still sleeping and Gran was back on the couch, napping as well. Campbell was nowhere in sight. I wondered where he was, when he came back from the kitchen. He slumped on the free couch and yawned loudly. Seemed like he was back to normal. I wondered why all of them were so tired when I put the food into the fridge and sat on the ground. I was pretty tired myself and a nap sounded really good. Since there was no couch left i just took the floor instead. It didn't take long for me to fall asleep.
