Yuki

I looked at the first question. Okay. I looked over at

Naruto. He was already freaking outNot good. Well... Test were never

Naruto's thing. Especially written test. I paid more attention to my test.

I skimmed threw the questions. What's with question 10? "This question will

be revealed 45 minutes after the test begins. Listen to the examiner closely

before answering." Well... Besides 10, they want us to cheat. This is about

acquiring information and getting it to our teammates. Heh... And I got the

perfect plan. I can get it to Sasuke. He's right in front of me and Sakura,

several seats over. I'll try for Naruto but... He's on his own. I took out

three needles and stuck them my arm band. I acted stressed and looked up right

above me. Hmmm... There are mirrors for the officers to use to tell when

people are cheating... Four of them are right above me. If I just... I

pulled four more needles out of my pouch except these had wire attached to each

of them. The wire so thin that it was almost impossible to see. Adding the

slightest bit of chakra, I flicked them up into the air and they each attached

to the mirrors. Good. I tested each string to see what mirror they

controlled and tied them to separate fingers. If I only moved them slightly,

The officers shouldn't notice. Now then, too find which ones to cheat off of.

I'll write the answers on this translucent paper. It'll bleed threw all three

sheets and onto the real paper. Then I can tie them to the needles in my hair

and toss them to the rest of my team. Then the guy next to Sakura stood

up.

"Umm.. I'd just like to know one thing...How many teams will pass this

test?" Our proctor chuckled.

"It's not like knowing will hello you... Or do you want to be

disqualified?"

"Sorry..." The boy said, sitting down. I looked over at Naruto. He hasn't

noticed yet. Damn it Naruto! Hurry up and notice. You have to cheat to win this!

I heard the sound of a pencil coming from the side of the room. An officer

just made a check on his board. Wonder who got caught... I leaned back

in my seat and stared up at the mirrors. The ninja in front of me had answered

the first question already if I had two out of three of the same answer that's

what I would write. One of the guys in front of me was on the ball.

"Whoa!" Someone yelled. distracting me. It was a guy that sat right behind

Naruto. There was a kunai on his desk and it split his paper in half. "What was

that for?!" He yelled.

"You messed up 5 times. You fail." The officer said. It was the one with the

spiky hair that had spoke earlier. What is up with all the spikey haired

people today?

"No... No way!"

"The two on his team, get out of here. Right now."

"Damn it..." one of them said.

"Hurry up and leave." I kept copying from that one especially because he was

done so quickly. I looked over at Sasuke. He seemed to be getting answers fast.

Looking over at Sakura, she was already done! Just then I heard another officer

speak.

"Number 102, stand up. You fail." He and his teammates left reluctantly.

Around 5:10 another one spoke.

"Number 23, you fail."

"No!" He said as he had to be carried out of the rooms. 5:15...

"43 and 27. You fail." 13 Teams... 13 teams have already failed this

exam. Some guy stood up and started shouting. "Do you have to prove that I

cheated 5 times?! Are you guys watching all-" He was caught off as one of the

officers grabbed his shirt and held him in the air.

"Listen," the officer, a Sand ninja, said, "among chuunins we are the elite

that were assembled to watch over the exam. we haven't missed anything you've

done. You could say that this strength is our proof." He let go of the boy and

sat back down. We all continued on. After a minute Kankuro stood up and raised

his hand.

"Excuse me."

"What is it?" An officer said.

"Bathroom..." He said looking almost embarrassed.

"We have to follow you to the bathroom." The instructor said as he put

handcuffs on him. Well Damn. Scratches that idea. It would run to high of a

risk of getting me caught. After Kankuro left, our proctor stood.

"Ok, we will now start the 10th question." Good I'm done so now I can

listen to number 10 with out being distracted. Now... Before we get to

it... I'd like to go over the rules for this question." Just then, Kankuro

walked in. That's when I noticed something about the officer with him. That

guy has no pupils. His eyes are pure white... So that's how he got his answers.

The puppet on his back is gone so that must've been where it went. He disguised

it as an officer. "Nice timing. Was your doll playing beneficial?" Kankuro

stood there for a moment, as if he was expecting to be thrown out. "Just sit

down." Kankuro did as ordered and took his seat next to me.

"Nice trick." I mumbled.

"Heh... So you noticed?"

"Well when you no longer have that thing on your back and it's no where in

sight. It's a possible explanation."

"Smart girl." He said smiling.

"Thanks." Proctor spoke again.

"I'll now explain... These are ... The rules of desperation... First, for the

10th question... You must decide whether you will take it or not."

"Choose?!" A blond Sand ninja burst out. "What happens if we choose not

to?!"

"If you choose not to, your points will be reduced to zero... You fail! Along

with your teammates." There were a couple more outburst, which he ignored. "And

now... The other rule. If you choose to take it... and answer incorrectly...

That person will lose the right to take the Chunin Selection Exam again." That's

when Kiba went crazy.

"What kind of stupid rule is that?! There are guys here who have taken the

exam before!" That's when things got really scary. The proctor chucked.

"You guys were unlucky. This year it's my rules. But I am giving you a way

out. those that aren't confident can chose not to take it and try again next

year." Crap! Naruto... Please for the love of god... Chose the right

answer! "Now let's begin... The 10th question. Those that do not wish to

take it, raise your hand. Once your number is confirmed, leave." Sasuke,

Sakura and I have got this. We're more likely to pass this... But...

Naruto... Think about yourself... Not us... Or at least... Please, get the

answer right. Some one raised their hand. "I'm not going to take it. I'm

sorry... Gennai, Inoho."

"Number 50 fail! 130, 111, also fail!" After that there were a lot more who

decided to quit. Then Naruto did something that shocked me. He raised his hand,

Naruto?

"Don't underestimate me!" He yelled, slamming his hand down on the desk. "I

will not run! I'll take it! Even if I'm a Genin forever! I'll will myself to

becoming Hokage anyway, so I don't care! I am not afraid!" Heh... That's the

Naruto I was expecting. I thought with a smile.

"I'll ask you again. Your life is riding on this decision. This is your last

chance to quit."

"I follow my unbending words... That's my ninja way..."

"Good decisions. Now to everyone still remaining... I congratulate you on

passing the first test!" He told us with a smile.

"WHAT?" I burst out. I couldn't help it.

"Wait..." Sakura said. "What do you mean? We already pass? What about the

10th question?"

"There was never such a thing. Or you could say that those two choices were

the 10th question." That's when this blond sand ninja started yelling.

"Hey! Then what were the first 9 questions for? They were pointless

then!"

"They were not pointless... They had already served their purpose. To test

your individual information gathering ability." He explained.

"Information gathering?"

"First, as the rules explained... Success on this test is based on the whole

team doing well. This put pressure on each member not to... Mess things up for

their teammates."

"I had a feeling this test was like that." Naruto said out loud. Liar.

"But the questions on this test were not the type a mere Genin could answer.

Because of that... I'm sure most of the people came to the same conclusion...

That to score points... I'll have to cheat. Basically... The premise of this

test is to cheat. As cheating targets. We had two or so Chuunins who knew all

the answers mixed into the crowd to help you guys out." Heh, score! One of

them is sitting right in front of me! I thought to myself. Naruto

went on about how you'd have to be a moron to not notice them when I knew in

reality, he hadn't the faintest idea.

"But those that cheat poorly..." Our proctor said as he was untying his head

band. "Fail, of course." Then he took it completely off and we saw his scarred

scalp. "Because at times, information is more important than life... On

missions and the battlefield, people risk their lives to get their hands on it."

Burns, screw holes, scars... The after effects of torture..."If the

enemy or third party notices you... There is no guarantee the info will be

accurate...I want you to remember this." He said tying his headband back on.

"Important information in your hands... Can be a powerful weapon for your

comrades and for the village. So we had you gather information through cheating.

This clearly separated those that did not have the abilities."

"But I don't understand the final question." The blond Sand ninja stated. Our

instructor smiled.

"But question 10 is the true purpose of this test." He said simply. I still

wasn't getting it either.

"What do you mean?" Sakura asked.

"Let me explain the 10th question... The "take it" or "not take it"

decision... Obviously these were painful choices. Those who choose the latter

fail along with their teammates. Those who choose to take it... Could loose the

chance to take the test again. A true leap of faith. Now about these two

choices... Say you become Chuunins. Your mission is to steal a secret document.

The amount of ninjas, their abilities, etc. is unknown to you. And of course

there could be traps set all around you. Now do you accept or not accept?

Because you don't want to die... Because you don't want your comrades hurt...

Can you avoid this dangerous mission? The answer is no! No matter what the

danger... There are missions you can't avoid. The ability to be courageous...

And survive. any hardship... This is the ability needed to become a Chunin

captain. Those who can't put their destines on the line... Who cling to the

uncertain future of "there's always next year" ... And then walk away from their

chance... Those pieces of trash who only make such cowardly choices... Don't

have the right to become Chunin... This is how I feel! Those who choose to take

it... Answered the 10th question correctly. You will be able to survive any

troubles you face in the future. You made it through the entrance. The first

test of The Chunin Selection Exam is now finished. I wish you guys good

luck."

"HELL YEAH! WISH US LUCK!" Naruto shouted. The proctor smiled. Then I tensed.

Something was about to happen. Danger! The window near the front od the

room shattered and something came flying through the window. What the hell?!

kunais pinned a banner to the wall and a woman stood in front of it.

"You guys! This is no is no time to be celebrating!" She said. "I am the

proctor for the second test! Anko Mitarashi! Now let's go! Follow me!" Pushy

much?

"Bad timing." our first proctor said. This proctor... She's just like

Naruto... Annoying...
