AN: Short chapter...I've had a bit of a block. I've also updated...this is now going to be the prequel to a OUaT story...:) So I'm using those characters of Anna and Elsa...Elsa is a bit ooc in regards to her feelings towards Kristoff though...my Elsa likes him ;) Anyway, enjoy the story
As the girls stood in Anna's room a sudden realization hit Elsa.
"Wait…" she exclaimed and Anna became nervous.
"Come with me." The older girl practically drug the younger one down the hall into her own room. She reached the large dresser and she stood in front, slightly trembling. Elsa cautiously opened it and unrolled a beautiful quilt. Hidden inside was a glittering object. Still shaking, Elsa held it out to the younger girl, "here." It was a shard of glass from her mirror. Anna looked at the older girl who was really trembling now and had her arms wrapped around herself as if to try to console and conceal.
"It's the last one." She whispered quietly. Anna carefully wrapped her fingers around the glass and engulfed Elsa into a hug. The older girl finally calmed enough to stop shaking.
"Thank you" Anna whispered back. She knew, at least in this moment, Elsa, her Elsa, was back and fighting for her life. Anna put the piece of glass in her pocket to dispose of later, she and Elsa walked silently back to her room, hand in hand. Once inside, they saw that Gerda had brought up their lunches. Elsa saw the food and began to instinctively take a step back. She was fighting, but there were still voices in her head which told her that certain foods were vile and could not be eaten. Panic began to consume her, she was immediately reminded by those voices that she had just given up her last instrument of destruction. She began to hyperventilate and the room took on a familiar chill.
"Els…" Anna squeezed her hand to try to bring her back. Elsa's eyes caught Anna's and she looked as though she was in fear for her life. Wide eyed and shaking, the lies began screaming again. She wanted to run, she wanted to cut, she needed to flee.
Poised to leave, she began backing up slowly, but Anna held on tight.
"I-I need some air…"
"You can't keep doing this, Elsa."
"Wh-what?"
"Running." Anna was short, but compassionate. She knew when Elsa became this panicked reason and arguments would not work. She had to be simple and to the point. Elsa stayed quiet but Anna could see the wheels turning in her head as she thought about what was just said. She always ran, whether it was from a frozen kingdom, her own sister, or herself, her problems were never dealt with head on. She remembered what Anna had told her just earlier about not listening to the lies. She knew she didn't know what was a lie and what was truth, but she knew she could trust Anna.
Elsa took a deep breath, "if I eat that, I'm bad….lie?"
Anna smiled as she realized that at least some of what she had been saying was getting through, even if Elsa needed reassurance…it was a step in the right direction.
"Yes, Els! That's a huge lie…it's just food, it's not going to hurt you…But you not eating will hurt you."
Elsa let the words sink in and began to compose herself, with Anna by her side the entire time. She slowly started making her way toward the food. "And you'll do it with me?"
"Always." Anna smiled.
