I don't know what's gotten into me, lol, but I can't help writing the naughty stuff and all three of my open fics are on this path! So I really do apologise if that is not your thing. Speaking of other fics, if you are following The CONFUSION in the CRANIOTOMY, it was honestly a coincidence that Brennan has similar injuries.
Please don't read if you're underage or offended by a good dose of sexiness.

The markets were set over the beach of a pretty little palm tree lined bay. The water was an opalescent sapphire blue colour and the waves lapped carelessly over the finely sanded beach. The horizon was littered with anchored yachts and sailing vessels that dipped and peaked with every gentle wave. Kids and parents waded in the shallows of the water, yelping and screeching with happy water play.
They'd reached the markets in a rental car having missed the scheduled Segway tour times due to the fact that they had been too busy re-familiarising themselves with each other in the privacy of their room.
Camels shouldering laughing passengers occasionally made a conga line across the sand, and a giant dragon sand carving, complete with fire lapping from his nostrils sat proudly on the foreshore, nestled between two palm trees. A hat collecting donations was visible from within the circle of his tail and a hastily hand written cardboard sign at the tip of his tail read, "Your donations are very much appreciated. My sand sculptures are my livelihood. Thank you."
The dragon's creator offered a sincere and surprised thank you as Brennan dropped a $100 note into his hat, securing it with a pebble so that it didn't blow away in the summer breeze; and her partner looked at her curiously, "You must really like your dragons huh, Bones?"
She shrugged and sat down on the warm sand facing the gentle waves away a bit from the dragon maker, "I thought it was quite aesthetically pleasing… I imagine a great deal of work went into it."
Then offering something of herself to Booth as he sat down beside her, she spoke softly, shyly reaching for the comfort of his hand, "I used to be a street performer… I had a day job obviously, but in order to pay for my educational expenses and accommodation at Northwestern, I tutored students and I also busked in the Tube or at Covent Garden near where I lived in Chicago."
Surprised, Booth could not imagine it, "Really? What did you do?"
"I sang… and played the econtine lute. Prior to that I drew life-like-substructural-sketches or… skeletal-compositional portraits… though nowhere near as good as Angela's work, it paid the bills. I think that's why I felt such a strong connection with her in the beginning of our friendship."
Booth was floored… then after remembering who he was talking to he wondered why he was initially floored, "So you drew their faces as… skulls?"
"Essentially, yes."
He floundered with a reassuring reply, "Wow, that's so, um… disturbing… ly… amazingly… you!"
"There was a particular sub-culture that quite enjoyed my talents… they were called 'Emo'. At the time I thought the term related to the little red Sesame Street character or possibly was a shortened form of the word 'emotional' but after our case involving the rock 'n' roll fantasy camp I Googled it and discovered through a platform called the 'Urban Dictionary' that 'Emo' is a genre of softcore punk music that attracts unenthusiastic melodramatic teenagers with charcoal lined eyes who don't smile much, into high pitched overwrought lyrics and inaudible guitar riffs with tight woollen sweaters, tight jeans, itchy scarfs and greasy, black, unwashed hair that is required to cover at least 3/5ths of the face at an angle… it made sense after reading that… they also like skulls and I provided that service… at a discounted price to anyone who identified as 'Emo'"
"Wow… you so articulately explained the emo culture. Onya Bones. So what's an econti-loota-ma-jiggy?"
"The econtine lute is a cultural adaptation of a modern day guitar… specifically from the the Jolla Tribe. My own econtine lute was a gift given to me by the elders of the Jolla community as an acknowledgement of my involvement in identifying and edifying their part in local sect dissentions."
He smiled and shook his head with a memory, "I know I never got to say this after the whole Pam Noonan incident but Bones, when you took to the stage and started singing… I honestly think it was the first time I actually truly acknowledged the fact that I was madly in love with you, even if it was just to myself."
She looked up at this with a surprised, hesitant smile, "Really?"
He huffed a laugh, "Yeah… you were… God you were amazing. We'll have to do that again."
He felt her tighten and so he tried to lighten the inference, "Not at the Checker Box, Bones. We'll go to a nice tucked away place and I want to hear you sing a whole song through."
Her ridged form slackened slightly but she still remained guarded, "Perhaps."
Sensing her reticence he pulled on the hand he was already holding, twisted so that he was in front of her and pushed her gently beneath him, "Hey, Bones, it's not gonna happen again baby," he rolled atop of her slightly, urging her easily into the warmth of the sand and, taking her face in his hand, he kissed her gently, innocently on her lips, "I'm sorry if the thought of karaoke brings up bad memories… I just… Bones, I've never seen you so alive… I want to see that in you again."
She sighed and looked past him into the sky, digging her toes into the hot sand absentmindedly. Brennan struggled with whether to open up or not but decided that they were together now and it was just what had to happen, "Booth…"
She hesitated and he tucked a piece of hair behind her ear, "Hey, trust me. Tell me what's on your mind."
"I… it feels… nice to have you say that you've never seen me more alive…" She looked up at the palm tree fronds above them, then her eyes dipped to his solemnly, "But Booth, I've never seen you so… lifeless… I never want to go through that again. I apologise, I know it's ridiculous to assume that it would happen again… the actual chances of history repeating is simply…"
"Hey, Bones, I get it. I really can't tell you how sorry I am that that whole mess happened."
"It's OK Booth, it's completely ludicrous to anticipate something as unexpected as a holdup to occur again and under entirely different circumstances… I'll get used to the idea… please don't worry about it."
Looking down at her completely open, make-up free face, under the heated midday sun, Booth melted over her – kissing her deeply and after moments and moments of teasing his tongue across hers he reached beneath her dress to smooth and squeeze the outside of her thigh almost to the roundness of her bottom.
Brennan responded viscerally, grasping the back of his head and pulling him closer before remembering their public location she hummed around his deep kisses, "Uh! Booth…"
"Mmm-hmm."
"Booth… there are children walking by."
He pulled back breathlessly and grinned with a lidded charming glint in his eyes, "I'm sorry baby, you're just so… hot."
She smiled impishly and pulled back and off him onto her knees, daring him with her eyes, "I'd better cool off then."
With one swift movement, she shucked off her sundress, revealing a sexy red, blue and white halter bikini set; and without fanfare, she turned and ran to the lapping shore, diving smoothly into the open waves.
She swam out into the ocean until he felt cold, under the hot summer sun, with her absence. He could barely see her in the distance. Looking around, he realised that he was the only one to feel her lack of presences… every passer by went on as if they were not even aware of her beauty and grace.
Booth shucked his shirt and shoes, wallet and sunglasses and looked up to see the sandcastle man who gave him a friendly nod to indicate he'd watch over their property. Booth then trailed his heavy stance through the sand… she was a good 120 metres out now.
Only with swim shorts to his name, he dove into the salty water; breast-stroking to his goal… she laughed as he finally barrelled into her, gripping her around the torso and tickling, yet still mindful of her injury, "Ah! Booth!"
He laughed and burrowed his head into her salty neck, his feet barely touching but stirring the sandy earth beneath him, "Hmmm, Bones!"
"Haha! I can't touch the floor Booth!"
He gripped her hips and dragged her easily to shallower waters, "How 'bout now."
She draped her arms around his neck and her legs followed suit, wrapping them around his waist, "Yes. Now's good."
He took a moment to take in her presence and, with his hands on her hips, he ground into her, "Hmm, now's good for me too."
Bobbing easily amongst the light waves, they laughed and danced across the ocean floor. It was just the relaxing cool down they needed and it felt good being so out in the open, yet they were far enough away from the crowd and the boats that an air of quiet intimacy descended on them.
After a while, legs again wrapped around his hips, Brennan looked down at him sincerely and her breath spoke before she could pull it back, "I watched the waves for you, Booth …"
She dropped her head onto his shoulder in embarrassment and realising that she was sharing her soul, he kissed her forehead to try and reassure her, "What do you mean you watched the waves?"
Brennan grew breathless and her eyes were wet in a way that was unrelated to the water they were suspended in, "It was storming with thunder and lightning… it was chaos, Booth… we were all frantic… I.. it's completely inexplicable, but after running barefoot through the rainforest I finally reached the shore and I looked out over the ocean and I felt… despite the storm, it was an almost full moon over the water and I watched the waves… I can't explain it but, I don't know, I just felt peace. It was as if I felt your presence." She looked away shyly, "I clearly have a vivid, over-active imagination."
Booth's mind was blown… never had she been so candid about a 'gut' feeling.
Within the light waves, he gripped her chin and pulled it up to his face, his eyes a smouldering mess of emotion, "You felt me there?"
Her eyelashes blinked - beaded with salty water; her eyes dropped to his lips and she nodded almost unperceptively, ready to fully surrender to the thirst that was swirling around them amidst the salty water.
His lips caught hers and they kissed for what seemed like an eternity… her soul felt as if it would burst from the eruptions coursing through her body. Brennan gasped for air and was breathless as his lips sought purchase on the skin of her throat. Despite her confession, Booth didn't question her, he didn't laugh and he didn't hold back from reassuring her in the one way he had truly come to love.
"Booth…"
"Temperance… there were moments that I wasn't sure I'd make it in Afghanistan…" her lips kissed hungrily at his throat, "But it was thoughts of you, of this that kept me going baby…"
"Booth, you promised me that it was safe; that you were training."
He gripped her tighter, "Nothing's safe in a war zone, Bones… especially when all I could God damn think about was you… it was the biggest fucking concentration killer going, I couldn't function..."
He was absentmindedly grounding into her with ever wave when his words were cut off with her throaty groan at the pleasurable contact, "Oh Booth, I had the same problems."
He rasped into her ear, "Now, Bones, somehow I don't see you getting around your dig site with a raging-hard-on. I swear you had me hard in an instant every time I thought of you in that sexy bikini and trust me, Bones, I loved that bikini." His eyes burnt into hers as he flicked a thumb over her pert nipple sending a shock through her body, "I love this one too."
With her back to the shore, he lifted her slightly out of the water, enough to be able to swipe the fabric from her other breast before pulling it into his mouth, biting and swirling his tongue around her areola, relishing in the noises she was making. He indulged her for a good few moments before pulling back to steal kisses from her lips; his eyes fully dilated and almost black, "And now that I've had you I don't know how the hell I'm gonna be able to go back, Bones… I just can't imagine it after tasting you… after knowing how fucking amazing it feels to fill you."
He ground into her again and Brennan snapped. Still with her legs wrapped around his body, she pulled back enough to rip the Velcro on the front of his swim shorts. Reaching inside She gripped him confidently and he struggled for air, "Jesus, Bones!"
"So, shut up then and fill me so you don't forget."
He offered her a wet, gravely laugh, hardening further in her hand with her bossy demands, 'I don't think I'm gonna forget in a hurry baby."
Trusting the hands gripping her arse she let go of his neck; clutching him in one hand, she used the other to push her bikini aside and lined him up at her centre, pushing over him before he could register what was happening.
Working with the gentle ebb and flow of the ocean she pulled and pushed with an easy, blissful rhythm.
A flush of energy went through him with their coupling and then it was his skin that was puckering with goose bumps, "Bones… Oh, God."
With her arms now wrapped around his neck, she pulled away slightly, "Hm… you know I've dreamt about doing this ever since I gave you the keys to my pool."
Booth chuckled darkly and increased their tempo, the water lapping briskly between them, "Oh, Bones, don't think I haven't dreamt about that too."
Scooping her left breast out of her halter top, he latched on then flicked his tongue teasingly over the tip, dropping his hand to thumb over her sensitive clit whilst the hand he had on her arse pounded her into him. All the sensations together, including the frisky slap of the ocean between them, resulted in a sudden all-body orgasm and her walls gripped him so tight that he had no choice but to follow her.
Brennan cried out and he swallowed the sound with his mouth on hers solidly kissing her until the flutters radiating from her centre subsided to a delightful pulse. Their kiss turned gentle and tender and she hummed into it before smiling with a youthful sparkle in her eyes. His eyes lit up similarly before they found themselves laughing.
"Booth, I've got to say, I didn't take you as one for public displays of affection."
"Me neither baby but you're a whole nuther kettle of fish."
"I don't unders…"
"It means you break all of my rules, Bones." He added with sincerity, "Every single one of them."
She cupped his face and her eyes told him the true depth of what she was implying, "You break all of my rules too Booth and you've broken down all my walls, and all I can think to say is 'thank you'. Just… don't go breaking my heart OK?"
