Chapter 21

Hermione sat in her bed in the hospital wing. She had been shocked to learn that she had been out for a couple weeks. However she was happy that her father was investigating Hogwarts. It was hard to believe it hadn't been done before now. What Hermione hadn't expected was how many people had come to see her. She remembered when she woke up and looked around the sheer number of gifts and flowers. Of course most where from the Beauxbatons students, but some were from the Hogwarts students. She hadn't thought she had much of an impact on the students but she was wrong. She looked up from her text book and picked up one of the tubs of sweets that pansy had given her. Pansy had been a very frequent visitor of hers. It seemed she felt some sort of debt to Hermione. However Hermione didn't see why, all she did was help Pansy get out of a bad situation. She opened the tube and grabbed a couple sweets.

Hermione then looked down to her text book. She had a lot to catch up on. Not that it was much of a problem; Hermione was always a fast learner. She was more interested in the yule ball. She had learnt form Harry that the champions had to dance the first dance. This wasn't an issue for Hermione but she knew Harry and probably Cedric hadn't got the slightest clue how to dance. She offered to teach him after she got of the hospital wing. After all it would give her a chance to let Abril and harry get a little closer.

Hermione was pulled out of her thoughts by the sound of someone approaching; she looked up and saw the last person she wanted to see, Dumbledore. He walked up to her bed and fake smiled at her.

"Ah miss granger. So glad to see you up and better" he said with fake sincerity.

"zank you professor. I'm told I'll be able to leave ze hospital tomorrow" Hermione replied trying very hard not to tell him exactly what she thought of him.

"I see you heal as fast as you learn then." He said as he moved round closer to her. He needed to know what she knew about what happened in the arena. However he didn't know how to approach it. If she knew then she had to be dealt with quickly.

Hermione nodded "Yes. Despite someone's best attempts" she said emphasising the someone's part of her sentence.

*That was easy* Dumbledore thought to himself. "Whatever do you mean by someone's efforts?" he asked leaning closer.

"Ze dragon was bewitched to be more aggressive and ze chain was blown apart by a spell, not ze dragon. If my innate powers had not activated I would have been dead. However my powers allowed me to see exactly vhat had happened." she said leaning into the Dumbledore "I know vaht you did. You bewitched zat dragon and you tried to kill me. If I was you I would read up on vhat and who I am. I mean ze true history not ze one you cooked up for your school. You have started a war and I intend to win it." She added before sitting back down and picking up her book "Good day professor" she said in a sickly sweet tone.

Dumbledore didn't know what to say so he left, furry running through his veins. One way or another he would get rid of Hermione. He had to.

One week later. Empty class room.

Hermione stood in the centre of an empty classroom, she had moved all the tables and chairs to the side so there was a large space in the middle. She had heard about the dance classes the Hogwarts student had been given. She also knew they were less then brilliant. It wasn't the teachers fault, it was just that Hogwarts hadn't taught dancing in years. She had told harry to bring his friends or whoever wished to learn.

A few minute later harry and a group of students came through the door. Harry had bought his group of friends, Cedric and Viktor had also tagged along. Not long after that Fleur, Gabrielle, Phileep and Abril all turned up.

Hermione smiled "Well as you know ze Yule ball is fast approaching. It is a formal dance held every year during ze tournament. A formal dance is a stately Affair, ze boys are expected to be gentleman and conduct themselves appropriately. Ze girls are expected to be ladies. It is a formal get together a chance to mingle, but above all dance. So I'm here to teach you how to do it properly." Hermione said simply "I'll need two volunteers. Harry, Abril please stand up" she added. It took a little while and fair bit of coaxing but eventually both harry and Abril where up and in hold.

"Remember Harry, ze man has to lead. So where you step Abril will step" Hermione said as she started giving foot commands. It took a little while and a fair bit of treading on each other's feet, but eventually it seemed to be going well.

Hermione started the music "Remember harry. It's one, two, three and suddenly you see it at a glance, Look at your partner harry. She's radiant and beautiful, she's born to take your heart. She relays on you to lead her and support her. Now twirl her. That's it" Hermione said as she stepped back and sat down next to Neville and Viktor.

As Harry and Abril danced Hermione turned to Neville and Viktor. "Gentlemen I have a request for you" she said simply.

"Sure what is it?" Neville asked.

"Mr Longbottom would you a company me to the dance? And would you Viktor go with Fleur. You know that me and Fleur are a couple. However the rule state that we can't go together. So I was hoping Neville would go with me and Viktor would go with Fleur. Then we can meet up after the first dance. Would that be ok?" Hermione asked hoping they would say yes.

Viktor and Neville both nodded. "It is the least I could do. If not for your training I would have been in trouble in the first task" Viktor said. He was truly appreciative of the help Hermione had given him.

For harry and Abril the rest of the room seemed to fade, it felt right to both of them. To be in each other arms, so close. That spark at the start of the year had returned. However it seemed more constant now. Neither knew what it was but they knew it couldn't be bad. Harry realised how beautiful Abril was her dark hair and her piecing blue eyes, to him they were like pools in which he was losing himself. Abril felt the same, harry had the air of someone who's future was weighing him down. However she had to admit it gave him a certain charm, teamed with those brilliant green eyes. The eyes of a survivor, someone who would do anything for his friends or what he thought was right. Abril didn't know what this feeling was; she had never felt it before. As the music began to end Abril grabbed harry for one final step when she got a flash vision. She saw a man and a woman holding something and she could have sworn she heard crying, like a baby's cry.
