Chapter Twenty-One: Sponsored Kifu

Hikaru's POV

I ended up going to what seemed like a Go Salon which was odd. Personally I'm glad I'm wearing a light blue Polo Shirt and white Skinny Jeans.

Taking a seat I wondered why he wants to talk to me. I don't have anything of value to him that we can discuss. Maybe it's the fact Akira's been after me for a long while.

When he returned I sighed. "I'm guessing this is going to take a while yes?" I asked when I looked back at him.

He nodded saying he wants to find out how strong I am. "Alright but I won't be as strong as I used to be" I told him opening the Go Bowl. I got Black.

After a while of playing I was ten points ahead. I messed with my Hyacinth Choker again but it was still only on my wrist.

"What did you mean by 'as strong as I used to be'?" he asked making me sigh as I placed a Stone. "I quit playing Go three years ago for reasons I won't divulge" I answered simply before he placed his Stone. Placing mine I caught two of his Stones.

"Yes you're very strong but what are you playing right now?" when he asked this I sighed placing my Stone back in the Bowl. "Picture Go" I simply said crossing my arms since I have nowhere else.

"Then how do you figure out this Picture Go?" he asked making me smile slightly. "All it is is the basics of Teaching Go except you make it so it ends up being a picture. At least by the time the Board is full or when the opposition resigns" I answered messing with the Choker.

"Did Akira pass the Pro Exam yet? He promised me he would go Pro once the Tournament ended" I asked looking at him. When he nodded I smiled.

"All that's left in the Promise is to make a mistake" I said but I don't want to. At the same time I do as well. The man behind the Counter came up asking if we were talking about Akira Touya and I nodded.

"It's good to see you again Sol-Sensei" he told me confusing me until I remembered him. "The pleasure's mine, I haven't seen you in three years" smiling at him when I looked up.

"I didn't know you knew my teacher Kishimoto-Kun, he's a good Player isn't he?" he asked surprising Kishimoto. "What do you mean by 'Teacher'?" another man asked. "Hikaru-Sensei, or Sol-Sensei, was a Go Teacher since he was very young.

He quit playing three years ago though due to an accident with one of the people he beat" I sighed at this explanation. "I don't consider myself a Go Player since I don't strive for the Divine Move now if you'll excuse me" I said standing up.

"Where are you going?" Kishimoto asked making me sigh. "I came here despite needing a book for my Advanced Literature Class so I need to go somewhere to find it" I answered him. I never looked behind me nor did I turn when my past student asked me what book it is.

"Bless Me, Ultima by Rudolfo Anaya" I answered without much emotion. "I have it here if you want to use it Sensei" he told me so I looked over my shoulder at him.

"If it doesn't hinder you in anyway I don't mind" I smiled walking over to him. "No it won't Hikaru-Sensei, you've helped me many times in the past with Go and not with Go. Now it's my turn to help you" he said with a smile.

After a bit of searching and talking with the other man since Kishimoto wished me luck before he left I got the book. "Thank you Kazuzi-San" (1) I smiled brightly before I accepted the book.

"I hope to talk to you again Kichirou-San" (2) I smiled waving at them as I left the Salon. Despite knowing that the next time I can apply for the Insei Test is in the Summer I decided I should try. I feel like I can sign up for it tomorrow if I wait a bit.

I walked through the Park feeling the wind before Sai asked if I was okay. "I'm fine Sai" I smiled looking over my shoulder at him.

"Are you going to take the Insei Test? I thought your parents wanted you to stop playing Go" he asked but I shook my head looking at the ground. "It's not that they don't want me to play but that they don't want me getting hurt" I explained to him. "I'm going to take the Insei Test Sai, but I want to fulfill the promise when I do it" I continued walking when I told him this.

"Come on Sai we have to go to the National Go Association tomorrow" I said smiling at him. I continued walking home to get some sleep before tomorrow.

Time Skip: Morning

We passed a familiar sign when Sai asked if we've been here before. "Yes we have, it was for the Kids' Tournament" I answered. I didn't look up from Bless Me, Ultima though since I like the book.

I've had to come here before for things besides becoming an Insei. "Come on Sai" I said walking to where the Information Desk is at.

"This is going to take time away from the Go Club and I might lose Mitani as a friend" I told him making him scold me. "If he's really you're friend then he won't do that" he said but I shook my head. "If he's really my friend he'll help me even when he's hurt that he's doing it" I said frowning.

When we reached the floor I sighed texting mom on my black DOCOMO PANASONIC. 'Sai they're Fish, if you want I'll take you to an Aquarium' I said before he asked what it is.

'A place with a lot of Sea Animals, Fish included' I told him when I sent the text to my mom. "Hello Hikaru-Sensei! I haven't seen you in so long" the man told me making me smile slightly. "Yeah sorry about leaving so suddenly" I said scratching my head.

"It wasn't suddenly Hikaru so why are you here?" he asked before I dug through my bag. "I want to take the Insei Test, I brought this for the men in charge in case they don't believe me" placing the book of Kifu on the Counter. "The Insei Test in December right? I'm sorry Hikaru but you'll have to sign up at a different time" he told me making me sigh.

"I won't be able to see Akira if that's the case" I said before I heard a familiar voice. The voice asked what the problem was.

"Hello sir" bowing my head slightly in greeting as the man said his name. "This is Hikaru-Sensei, he's taught many of the Insei before and wants to take the Insei Test. He only has Kifu but no Sponsor and the Application Date has already past" he explained and I nodded.

"I've met him before, I'll Sponsor him and since that's the only reason give him the Application" Ogata-San said confusing me. He left after that thanking the man.

"Thank you sir" I said taking the Application Form when he handed them to me. "On the day of your Exam bring this, three Kifu, your parent or parents, the Game and Application Fee, and Resume" he told me. Nodding I thanked him.

"Here's a Pad of Kifu Youshi for you Hikaru-Sensei, I don't think you have any do you?" he asked and I nodded. "Thank you sir" I said taking the Pad of Kifu Youshi.

Time Skip: After School

In the Go Club Room I was trying to figure out how to tell my friends about the Insei Test. Ironically I wasn't really meaning to fill it out. Blank Go is annoying in so many ways.

I placed the Pad on the Counter I was sitting at crossing my arms before I laid my head on them. I jolted when Mitani said he has good news.

"What is it?" I asked him seeing he was worried but it disappeared as soon as I asked. "I found a new Member for the Go Club" he told me. I nodded when Mitani told him to come out.

Mitani told me his name's Natsume so I greeted him. He knows how to play Go and is in Mitani's Class. "It's nice to see you again Natsume, I bet you got into Go because of you father right?" I asked bowing slightly.

"Yeah I did, I only played my first Game this Summer though" he told me scratching the back of his head. "That's fine but I have to tell everyone in the Go Club something" I said placing the Pad down. Seeing Mitani sit down he started tossing Stones in the air catching them again and again.

Akari and Kamiko walked in before the former asked who Natsume is. "He's joining the Go Club all that's left is for Kimihiro to join us" I said before she asked why.

"Hikaru has something to tell us and Kimihiro needs to be here for it" Mitani said making me flinch slightly. "Hey Kimihiro come on in" I said when I saw him. "What's going on?" he asked with a confused expression.

"We got a new Player" I said trying to prolong this confession as long as I can. "Haze's going to have a Boy's and a Girl's Team" Akari told him making me flinch again.

I know Tsutsui saw this before he asked who Akari found as a Member for her Team. "Hikaru brought her in and she said that if she plays in the Tournaments she'll join the Club" Akari explained. "That's great Akari" I said smiling at her.

Kimihiro said that he has something he didn't believe making me smile slightly. "It has an Article that says Akira passed the Pro Exam, and a man named Sol-Sensei is taking the Insei Test" he said making me frown slightly.

"Yeah I found out not too long ago actually and neither of which is wrong" I said surprising him. "Is that what you wanted to tell us?" Kimihiro and Mitani asked making me nod. "My parents are persistent about it for reasons" I said looking out the Window.

"Kishimoto said that Akira was going to start his Pro Career next April. I learned about it a Month ago" I informed them. "Where did you run into Kishimoto?" Mitani asked scornfully.

I smiled when I looked at him. "I said I had to go somewhere, I went to the Book Store to get Bless Me, Ultima and ran into him" I explained. "The problem with this however is the fact I need new Kifu" I said looking at the Pad in my hand.
