A/N Hey guys! There will be a longer note at the bottom, but for now, I hope you enjoy this chapter and by the way the section in italics is her memories. She's remembering her past. And also, I'm not sure yet, but I might start incorporating memories from her past, which will hopefully make the chapters a bit longer and you can know a bit more about my OC, since I haven't given much about her. Ok now enough with my chit chat lol hurry along and read this chap and tell me what you think. :)
Amanda and Jane were walking down the street chatting merrily on the sunny day. "Oh, it is such a beautiful day today," Amanda commented stretching out her arms toward the sky. It seemed so close she could just reach up and touch it. Her happiness was pushed to the back of her mind as a wave of sadness passed over her.
~..X..~
A little girl with strawberry blonde curls and bright blue eyes giggled as she ran around on the long grassy plain beside their house. She was running from her father who was chasing her in a game of 'Monster and Princess' as they liked to call it.
"I'm gonna get ya!" Her father said wearing a smile.
"No! Hehe!" She giggled as she ran faster.
"I'm coming for you!" Her father taunted again.
"Wait," She said suddenly stopping, catching her breath.
"What? What's wrong?" Her father asked a bit worried.
"Ok," She said and started running again, giggling as before.
"Hey you! I see what you did! I'm gonna get you this time!"
Father and daughter played their game a bit longer until they both were tired out, and decided to lay on the soft grass. The little girl made a triangle around the sun with her two pointer fingers and thumbs. Her father lay down beside her changing her triangle to a heart by adding his hands to the picture. The little girl giggled obviously satisfied with the act.
"Ok. This will be our heart," The little girl stated. "I'm going to put it in the sun, so whenever we're apart, we can look at the sun and see our heart. It will never go away. Our heart will stay forever, just like the sun. So don't forget."
"Ok," Her father replied, smiling at what she had said. Then he started to tickle her. "Our game isn't over yet!"
"Hey! Hehe!" The girl protested, getting up and running towards their home.
~..X..~
"Amanda?" Jane tried to get her attention.
"Oh, sorry," Amanda replied, snapping out of her memory, a sad look filling her eyes as she remembered the good times with her father.
"Oh!" Jane gasped as she saw something in the window of a shop. "Oh, isn't it just beautiful!" She said, pointing towards a pale blue bonnet. It had white silk around the base and little white and blue flowers on the rim.
Amanda studied the bonnet, trying to see how women wore those tiresome things. I guess I just haven't gotten used to 19th century fashion. She thought to herself.
She looked back towards the street, noticing people whispering and looking in her direction. At first she just brushed it off, but so many people were staring at her she felt uncomfortable. "Jane, why are those people staring at me like that?"
"Oh," Jane said, thinking of a way to put what she had to say. "They, I guess, well I think," she stuttered. "They, don't think it's proper for a man," she paused for a moment, "and a woman, to live...together...in the same residence," she finally said.
Amanda felt confused for a second and then realized that Jane was talking about her and Mr. Darcy. She had never thought it improper since there were so many servants in the house. It felt more like a hotel. Not once had the thought passed her mind that her staying at Pemberly might be damaging Mr. Darcy's reputation. She stopped walking, shocked that she had never once considered what damage she might be doing to Mr. Darcy. She knew now she couldn't depend on him any more. It wasn't right. She had taken for granted everything Mr. Darcy had supplied for her. How could she have been so greedy and not think about Mr. Darcy. She didn't know what she was to do. She couldn't rightly continue to stay with Mr. Darcy.
Jane! I could stay with Jane and Mr. Bingley, she thought. What am I thinking! How could I even think of intruding their personal space! She scolded herself. What was she to do. She couldn't stay with Mr. Darcy and she didn't have anywhere else to go. She shook her head, thinking she had been staying with him this long, making the public think ill of him.
"I'm sorry Jane. I'm suddenly feeling unwell. I will see you later, ok?" She said using a bit of modern language. "Oh, are you alright?" Jane asked.
"Yes, Yes I'm fine. I just have a bit of a headache please excuse me. Don't worry about me either," she said adding a convincing smile.
"Alright," Jane said not fully convinced. "Be safe on your way back."
"Ok I will. Bye!" She replied waving.
She started to walk back, thinking of possible solutions to her current situation. What possible solutions were there in the 19th century? It's not like they had hotels or something. That's it! Of course they had them! They had inns. Of course, It may not be the best solution, but she couldn't keep infringing upon Mr. Darcy's reputation. That was it. She would talk to Mr. Darcy. She didn't know what he would say, so she prepared herself for the worst...
