I know this is a supppppper short chapter compared to the rest but I'm almost done with the story and I couldn't finish it all tonight lol.
Thank you for those keeping up with this and for the ones who've started reading Poetic Justice. If you haven't already, please do. Once I finish this story I'll be able to kick that one into full gear where everything gets crazy!
As always I'd love to hear what you think!
Hours and hours had passed by since he heard the words out of Abel's mouth. Jax sat against the wall of his son's room, staring blankly at the sleeping boy. When he'd asked him why he thought Gemma was the one that attacked Tara, Abel had told him he'd heard Gemma telling Thomas that she was sorry she'd hurt mommy.
Everything was ringing through his head. The boys being cold towards Gemma. Mina continually insisting Gemma had done it. Pushing to help Tara and the boys leave. Why didn't he listen to her? She was always right. But it made no sense. Why would his mother hurt Tara? She was the love of his life. The mother of his boys. Her grandkids. He needed to find out the truth.
Brooke showed up a few hours later. With little to no sleep Jax was out of the house. Adrianna had insisted she be the one to go bail Mina out so he sent Bobby with her. It was probably for the best. He couldn't face her right now. Not when this whole time he'd argued for his mother. No. He needed to go see Unser.
Getting on his bike, he found himself speeding to TM. Some of the bikes were there but Jax paid no mind, going straight for Unser's trailer. Pounding on the door until the old man answered he barged in taking a seat on the couch. Unser calmly sat down on the chair across from him.
"Anything I can help you with son?" He asked, noticing the dark demeanor of the monster sitting in front of him.
"That guy - the one Gemma and Juice pointed out as Tara's killer. What did you find out about him?" He said getting straight to the point.
Unser took a deep breath and pulled out a manilla folder with Dunn's file in it. "It didn't check out. He was locked up in Nevada at the time."
"So why would my mother tell me he was the one?" Jax asked, trying to put two and two together.
"When i asked her she just said they all look alike. But it wasn't him. He wasn't in the state." Unser continued.
Without another word Jax had to go see Juice. He was the only other one that had backed up Gemma's story. He managed to get a visit with the rat. The camera's in the room were off thanks to Tully. He watched as Juice's once soft happy features seemed cold and worn but he was hear to get answers. If he had in any way helped Gemma attack Tara this is exactly what he deserved.

After a sleepless night laying on a stiff cot, it was finally time for her to be released. Since charges weren't being pressed by Gemma she was free to go. The officer held her arm as he lead her out to the main room where Adrianna and Bobby were waiting.
"Hey Troublemaker." The scruffy hair man greeted her with a soft smile on his face.
Mina gave him a small smile but it quickly disappeared when she saw her sister's serious face. "Addy.."
"I don't wanna hear it. You swore i'd never have to see you behind bars again" Adriana said coldly.
An officer came by with her belongings and she checked her phone. Nothing from Jax. Awesome. She didn't regret what she did. Even if he never wanted to talk to her again. Gemma didn't get near what she deserved.
"He ain't mad at you kid." Bobby said noticing the grim look on her face as they walked to Adrianna's car.
Mina shot him a grateful look as they got in. Since her car was still at the hospital Mina insisted on being dropped off there.. That way it shorten the amount of time she'd have to sit through this awkward car ride with her angry sister.
Adrianna dropped her off at the hospital with Bobby before driving off. "I stop myself, Bobby. When Abel said she did that to him - I lost it. It was like I was watching myself attack her but it wasn't me doing it. I can't say I regret it.." She tried to explain.
"Yeah. I understand. He ain't mad at you. Just surprised his mother would do that to his son." Bobby nodded as they walked towards her car.
As Mina was about to reply, she caught a glimpse of short brown hair about to get into a cab. "Tara?" She asked, causing the women to turn around.
"Mina." Tara said Mina and Bobby approached.
"Where you going?" Bobby asked, placing a hand on the car.
Tara bit her lip and shrugged. "I was going to check into a hotel until I found a place.."
Mina looked at Bobby then at Tara. "You can come stay with me. The boys are there."
"No.. it's fine I can't do that. Jax wouldn't like that." She tried to protest.
"Tara you have no place to stay. You can't stay in a motel. It's not safe. You're coming with me and your boys."

Juice had confirmed his worst suspicions. it had in fact been Gemma who attacked Tara and Juice had helped cover it up. It was time to fill in the rest of the group. He'd gotten the call from Bobby saying they'd run into Tara and she was now staying with Mina and the boys. Any man would freak out at his ex and his current love interest being in the same home but this made him feel so much for secure. If Gemma were to try anything else, he had no doubt in his mind Mina could handle it.
Calling everyone to Chapel, Jax watched the confused faces as they sat at their seats around the table. "I'm sorry for the lack of communication today." He breathed in deeply as he started. "I got some information last night from my son. Something he heard Gemma say. Juice confirmed it this morning." He looked down for a moment, shaking his head. "I didn't want to believe it, but after I found out my mom took off…" Taking another deep breath, he lifted his eyes to meet the individual club members. " The chinese didn't attack Tara. Gemma did." He lowered his head once more before looking up at his men. The men he'd put through so much on a lie. From his own mother. He gave them a moment to process this new found information before starting again. "It was a fit of rage, I guess. Juice was trying to find her when it happened. Thought he'd check out my house where he found her. Then Gemma and Juice put together the lie." Almost laughing out of anger he looked at his club again. "The chinese guy that I tortured, whose head i split open… he wasn't even in the state the night Tara was attacked. The level of brutality in Tara's attack…" He looked down trying to focus his thoughts, throwing his hands up in the hair. "I thought it could only be gang retaliation. A message. I was wrong. That mistake is mine and mine alone. Everything that happened as a result of that mistake - every body that dropped, every relationship that was torched, EVERYTHING that jeopardized this club was my fault."
"Jackie" Chibs said, his head in his hands as he shook it.
"Chibs." Jax interrupted. "We're going to sit down with Tyler, the Irish, and the Mayans. We discuss guns and territories. I can't do anything to change what's happened but I'm gonna make damn sure I do everything I can to make it right. I can't talk about any of this right now and I'd appreciate some time to think. I suggest you do the same." Looking at all the faces that had followed his every move with blind trust he shook his head. "I'm sorry that the family I was given has created so much chaos in the family I've chosen. I hope you know, I love you all very much." He finished. Getting up from the table and stepping outside. He knew exactly where his mother would go and this was something he needed to end tonight. For his boys. For Tara. For the club.
