Chapter 21
This is the last chapter. Trying not to cry…anyways thank you for following, favorite, and reviewing. This is my first fanfic I ever wrote. I can't believe it's going to end like this. Thank you for reading.
Robin finally cuts himself free and quietly made his way towards Phoenix. He notice her hair is flowing like a camp fire and her wings glowing. He wants to know if she's ok than something hit him; he still has his belt.
'I must have been worried about Phoenix so much that I forgot about my utility belt.' A small smile forms on his face. 'This means that Batman and the others can track us down.'
Than he hears a whimper, Robin looks his masked eyes widen in fear as he sees Phoenix shaking. She begins to cough harsh and rapidly, he looks at the Injustice and they're still arguing. Robin pulls her into his arms but he burned himself.
"Phoenix," he whispers in concern. She open her eyes and gives one more cough than the flames disappear. Phoenix shakes more but Robin thinks she's shivering. "Phoenix?"
"Robin," she pants and begins to cough more.
"Ssshh Phoenix, we need to stay quiet." She gives a confuse look. "They're busy arguing. This is our chance."
"I figure this much, but I can't leave Robin."
"Why?"
"Cause I'm transforming."
"What? Now!"
"Yes, I couldn't make a deal with the fire bird and he wants me and only me." Robin nods his head and tries to think of another plan. "Robin go."
"What?"
"Go, I'll be fine. Go and get help, please Robin."
"No, I'm not leaving you and that's final."
Phoenix gives a small smile, because she knew there's no changing his mind. Than a sharp pain struck the inside her head, she gives a moan. Robin pulls her in his arms that's when Phoenix notice his burns.
"Did I do that?"
"It wasn't your fault."
"I'm so sorry."
Robin was about to say something but a playing flew right pass his head. He sees the Injustice League gather around them.
"Give us your fire powers Phoenix," said Count Vertigo.
"Give me a minute," Phoenix said with her voice fill with pain.
"No, she's transforming now," growled Robin.
"No Robin! I'll be fine." Phoenix continues to cough than a fire ball fell out of her mouth. "This is my fire powers."
"Good, now hand it over," growled Poison Ivy.
"To who?"
"We settle on all of us," said Black Adam.
"Then there's a problem, my powers are for only one person." Phoenix gives a small smirk as they begin to argue again. "Here whoever catches my powers gets them."
She throws the fire ball and the Injustice League try to catch it. But every time one of them gets near it somebody stops them.
"Phoenix, why?"
"Relax sweetie, it's just a fire ball. It'll be awhile till they realize it."
Robin smirks, "I knew you could never get rid of your powers."
"You kidding, my dad, uncle, and grandfather would kill me if I did."
She gives a small laugh, Robin couldn't help but smile. Than he realize that they need to get out of here, so without thinking he picks her up bridal style. Phoenix gives a moan of pain, Robin apologize and tries to find a way out.
"Ha I got it!" yelled Atomic Skull than he drops it. Wotan was about to grab it. "Don't touch it. It burns you."
Wotan mutters a spell and the ball disappear.
"What did you do?" growled Joker as he begins to shake Wotan.
"We've been trick, it was just a fire ball."
"Guys, where did the Boy Wonder and Fire Girl go?" asked Poison Ivy.
"They're gone!" growled Ultra-Humanite.
"Let's go and catch us a couple of birds," said Joker as he took off his switchblade.
Robin finally found a way out, but there's a blizzard going on. He groans and begins to walk through the blizzards. Phoenix moans in pain than she begins to feel warm.
"Robin drop me."
"What?"
"Let me go."
"Why, cause I think it's happening."
Before Robin could say anything, Phoenix got out of his grip than her fire wings appear again. A circle of fire forms around her, Robin tries to get to her but the flames stop him. Phoenix grabs her head and her wings rest comfortably on her back.
"There are two love birds," said a voice.
"Joker," Robin hissed and gives a batglare.
The Injustice League came into his view; the flames from Phoenix is giving light for him to see through this blizzard. Robin took out his Eskrima sticks and prepare to fight.
"Aww, Boy Blunder you look so cute being brave," mocked Joker.
Robin's glare become more scary like the daddybats glare. "Stay away from her or else."
"You can't scare us Boy Blunder, you're all alone," said Black Adam.
"Who said he's alone…" said a voice that made everybody froze and it's not the blizzard.
A smile forms on Robin face as he knew who that voice belongs to. Than Batman appears along with the members of the Justice League, Young Justice team, and Phoenix's family. Flamethrower sees his daughter in pain.
"Robin, what happened to Phoenix?" Flamethrower asked as he think of ways to make them suffer for hurting his little girl.
"She's transforming," reply Robin.
"What?! Now!" yelled Black Flame.
"Yes now!"
"Damn it! I wish I could watch it happening."
"Black Flame, we got more important things to think of," said Ghost Flame.
"I know, but I've waited my whole life for this."
Before anyone one could say anything, Phoenix scream in pain. They turn their attention to Phoenix and she's holding her head between her legs.
"What do we do?" asked Media.
"Flamethrower, Black Flame, Ghost Flame, go help Phoenix. The rest of us will keep the Injustice League busy!" yelled Robin.
Everybody nodded and listen to the 13-year-old instructions. Batman and Robin takes the Joker. Wonder Woman, Black Canary, and Media takes Poison Ivy. Superman and Superboy takes Black Adam. Zatanna and Zatara takes Wotan. Aquaman, Aqualad, Icon, and Rocket takes Ultra-Humanite. Green Arrow, Artemis, and Red Arrow takes Atomic Skull. Martian Manhunter, Miss Martian, Flash, and Kid Flash takes Count Vertigo.
Batman took out a batarang and throws it at Joker. He dodge it, but was punch in the face by Batman. Robin does a flip above Joker and kicks him in the back of his knees. Joker falls forward and begins to laugh. Than he takes out two knives and attack the bats.
Poison Ivy commands her vines to attack, but Media takes out her sword and she cuts them. Wonder Woman uses her lasso to trap Poison Ivy than Black Canary punches her across the face. But Ivy blew dust on Black Canary and she fell asleep. She got free on the lasso and face the two woman with an evil smirk on her face.
Superboy punches Black Adam, but he caught his punch and twisted his arm back. Superboy grunts, Superman came and punches Black Adam. He check to see if Superboy's ok than continues to fight Black Adam.
Zatara cancels the spell Wotan had. Zatanna sneaks up behind him and mutter a rope spell; her spell succeed but Wotan broke free. Than he fires a spell that trap Zatanna's hands together and shuts her mouth. Zatara and Wotan continues to exchange spells waiting to see who will fall.
Aquaman punches Ultra-Humanite in the stomach. Aqualad takes out his water barriers and shocks him, but Ultra-Humanite grabs him by the arm and swings him into Aquaman. Icon use his energy blasts to throw him off while Rocket puts a force bubble on him and he begins to break free.
Green Arrow shoots an arrow that turn into rope and wrap around Atomic Skull's feet. He was about to make another energy beam till Red Arrow jumps in the air and kicks him in the head. Artemis shoots an arrow that transform into a net and trap Atomic Skull.
Flash and Kid Flash runs around to confuse Count Vertigo. It worked but Vertigo got sick of it and trap the Flashes with his mind powers. This gave Martian Manhunter and Miss Martian to sneak up on him and enter his mind. They manage to get him to free Flash and Kid Flash but were kick out of his mind.
While this is going on Flamethrower, Black Flame, and Ghost Flame enters the ring of fire. Flamethrower squats down to his daughter and tries to talk to her.
"Phoenix, it's ok. I'm here."
"It hurts daddy."
"I know, but you need to transform."
"Your father's right. You need to transform now while you still can," said Ghost Flame.
"If you don't Phoenix, you lose control of your powers," said Black Flame.
"I don't know if I can. It hurts so much. I'm too weak!"
"Phoenix, you're not weak. You're strong," said Flamethrower. "You're stronger than me right now. Sweetie I believe in you."
"Me too," said Ghost Flame. "Even though I don't say or show it a lot."
"Like Ghost Flame said," said Black Flame. Phoenix couldn't help but smirk than they see the others struggling. "Flamethrower stay here and we'll go and help them. I never believed I'll say that."
They both left and Flamethrower tries to comfort his daughter. He can feel the power she's struggling with and didn't blame her for being in pain. Than he sees that they're still struggling, but he didn't want to leave his child.
"Go." Flamethrower looks down at his daughter. "Go, they need you. I'll be fine."
"Phoenix, I can't…"
"They're our friends go and help them."
Flamethrower kisses his child and goes to help them. Phoenix watch her father leaves and tries to transform.
'I can do this. I can do this. My dad believes in me. My uncle and grandfather believes in me.' Phoenix thoughts than she looks up and Count Vertigo is walking towards her. Everybody is still struggling, but her heart breaks as she sees Robin on the ground with Joker laughing crazy. 'No, I can't lose him or my family or my friends.'
Phoenix stands up and gives a scream; everybody stop what they are doing and watch her. Phoenix levitates off the ground and her wings became bigger than they cover her whole body. A bright light blinded everybody, once they regain their sight the blizzard was gone and there's a bird in the air. They look closer and the bird is a phoenix, an actual phoenix. The phoenix gives a cry and flaps its wings.
"Where did that phoenix come from?" asked Rocket.
"It's Phoenix," said Robin.
"Rob, we get it's a phoenix. But we don't know where it came from," said Kid Flash.
"No it's Phoenix."
"He means my daughter," said Flamethrower.
"That's her?" asked Wonder Woman.
"Yes, she did it," said Black Flame.
Than phoenix flies above them leaving a stream of fire following. Phoenix circles around them and fire rope grabs the entire Injustice League, the flames disappear and the Injustice League are unconscious. Phoenix gently lands next to the heroes.
"Phoenix that was amazing!" yelled Zatanna.
"I agree. Even though I'm afraid of fire, I felt safe with you," said Aqualad.
"So Phoenix can we graduate you in person?" asked Artemis.
Phoenix gives a squawk than picks something in her wing.
"She said give her a minute," said M'gann.
"You understand her?" asked Superboy.
"I'm talking to her with the mind link."
Than phoenix flies in the air and her wings became bigger and cover her body. Another bright light appears in the sky, the bird is now a teenage girl. She gently lands on the ground and her wings disappear.
"Ok, how did you do that?" asked Red Arrow.
"The bird told me," said Phoenix.
"The bird?" asked Media.
"Yes, the bird taught me how to transform into an actual phoenix than to human me."
Flamethrower hugs her, "I'm so proud of you."
"Thanks dad." Flamethrower let's go than she runs to Robin. "How you doing cutie?"
"I'm fine, just a few scratches and bruises," said Robin with a goofy smile. "But I know one way that'll make me feel better."
"Is that so?"
"Yes."
"Is it this?"
She press her lips against his and they share a passionate kiss. Everybody stares at the couples and smile at the love birds. Robin wrap his arms tightly around Phoenix knowing that they're safe and he can enjoy this moment with her.
