Chapter 21
The Rescue, Phase 2
The team crept through the corridors of the castle trying to go as unnoticed as possible. They'd been searching the castle for near half an hour and had found no sign of Rosie or, thankfully, Doom. After searching the castle for nearly half an hour, knowing they wouldn't have much time left they decided to change to the far riskier area to search, Doom's private quarters. The day before they'd managed to obtain a plan of Doom's castle from a servant who didn't exactly agree with how Doom was running the country. Unfortunately he had been found out and was taken into custody, tortured for information on who he gave the plans to but he didn't say. He was beheaded that same night. One by one, they slipped into Doom's quarters before meeting up just outside his private library, knowing there were no cameras around there.
Once Steve had joined the rest of the waiting team outside the library they set of walking aimlessly around the quarters. It wasn't long until they passed the training room that Doom used to try out his newest weapons after that they would come to his room with a guest room beside it before another set of stairs leading downstairs. They were just starting to lose hope when they heard a cough behind them. The Avengers froze in their steps before turning around only to see Rosie behind them hands on hips. Rosie looked totally different from how she did when they last saw her. For a start she was wearing a floor length, pink, silk dress which went over her shoulder. The dress had real diamonds woven into the top of the dress and the strap over her shoulder. As well as that she was covered with gold jewellery which had real jewels all over it. Her hair was up in a bun which was being held up by another diamond bit of jewellery this time a hair piece.
Tony couldn't help his mouth from dropping in shock but Thor quickly slapped it up into place before Rosie could notice. Rosie looked at the group hands on her hips, eyebrow raised. She looked at the group each in turn none of them daring to speak. They could all tell that she didn't know them, didn't recognise them at all. Natasha had warned them about this as this is how most big supervillains work, if they get a hostage they want to keep they'll brainwash them. Despite this however that hadn't prepared them for the cold look in Rosie's eyes.
"And what do you all think you are doing here?" she asked with a Latverian accent, "You know Doom's quarters are off limit!" No one spoke which only made her slightly suspicious.
"Do you not remember what happened to the last man that came into Doom's quarters without permission? He was beheaded!" Rosie growled. The group recoiled slightly, shocked at the news they knew for a fact that the man beheaded was the man who gave them the plans. Once again when no one answered Rosie grew even more suspicious. Slowly she started to take some steps back to a table that was just behind her. Seeing this Natasha stepped forward ready to grab her but before she could do anything Rosie reached for under the table. They all watched as her hand reached for the underside of the table but half way towards it her hand froze, twitched back and forth whilst a groan escaped her mouth. Rosie seemed to be fighting with herself for a couple of minutes before one side won, she drew her hand away. Once again she looked at the group with cold eyes, hands on hips.
"Well you better get out before someone else stops you, they won't be as forgiving," she hissed venomously. Rosie watched as the Avenger turned and headed down the stairs before turning and walking the way she'd came.
Unknown to Rosie the group didn't go down the stairs instead they hid round the corner, waited until she was far enough away before following her down the corridor. They followed Rosie through Doom's private quarters before they came to the side entrance of the throne room. The Avengers watched Rosie slip inside before turning to each other. Quickly they went over their plan once again knowing they needed to get everything exactly right as the chances were that Doom is in the throne room are very high. After a couple of tweaks here and there the Avengers were ready to strike. Slowly they made their way towards the door Rosie had gone through but before they could even think about opening the door a group of Doom Bots came round the corner. Rosie was right about the next people to find them; they weren't as forgiving as her.
A couple of minutes later the Avengers were pushed into the throne room by the group of Doom Bots who immediately started to explain to their master about the group snooping in his quarters. At the opposite end of the absurdly dark throne room, Doom sat in his throne with Rosie standing beside him like a faithful guard dog. Fortunately Mello's enchantment was just enough to stop Doom from recognising them but still left enough magic for Mello to use in a full out fight. They watched as Doom drummed his fingers against the arms of this throne, slowly shaking his head whilst making disapproving noises.
"You all know you are not allowed in my quarters without permission… so what should we do about this?" he slurred. Beside him Rosie laid her hand on his shoulder before whispering something in his ear. Doom nodded before waving her away lazily with his hand to which Rosie retracted to her starting position.
"Fine, do you have anything to say for yourselves?" Doom muttered. He did clearly not like the idea of giving his rule breaking servants a second chance but whatever Rosie had said had made him change his mind.
"Well?" he pressed for an answer after a couple of minutes.
"Mel," Steve started, "Drop it." As soon as the words excited Steve's mouth, Mello dropped the enchantment revealing the Avengers in their suits before singlehandedly starting to attack the Doom Bots. Slowly Bruce let the Hulk lose and a defining roar filled the throne room. Seconds later the rest of the Avengers joined in apart from Cap and Iron Man who ran/flew towards Doom. Seeing the advancing Avengers Doom shook his head before motion for Rosie to intercept. Without thinking she pulled a sword and shield that Doom kept behind his chair before launching at them.
"WIDOW!" Captain America shouted over his shoulder, "TAKE ROSIE!"
"On it!" Widow shouted back before taking a sword off a nearby wall decoration. Instead of just one of the swords coming off the whole decoration came down including the shield and other sword. Natasha looked at it confused before blocking Rosie's first swing with the decoration.
"Who is Rosie?" Rosie growled throwing her first swing at Natasha.
"You, you spoilt bitch!" Natasha cried shaking the sword free. Quickly she shook of the other sword before attaching the shield to her arm. If she wanted to fight old school, they'd fight old school but Rosie still didn't have a chance of beating her. The pair continued to trade hits but none of them being fatal. After a couple of more exchanged blows and Natasha screaming at Rosie to fight the brainwashing, with visible results, she decided it was time to try and knock it out of her.
"You know you've gotten better but not good enough!" Natasha cried. Easily she dodged Rosie's blade before raising her shield and hitting Rosie in the head. With a squeal Rosie fell to the ground her head hitting the floor.
"She back?" Iron Man shouted firing at Doom who fired back. Before Natasha had a chance to answer a squeal came from the floor.
"I'M WEARING PINK!" Rosie screamed.
"Yep!" Natasha shouted back. With the conformation their youngest member was back the Hulk stormed over to Doom before smashing him through numerous walls. With Doom out the way Natasha grabbed Rosie's hand and sprinted out the room with the other Avengers either clearing the way or bringing up the rear.
"Where are we going?" Rosie squealed trying not to trip over her dress.
"Away from here!" Natasha hissed.
